The Garden State Yacht club amazes me. I'm not sure how this place is still in business considering how dirty it is in there. The dishes have stains and food residue on them. The management and the way they run this place is just ridiculous. Not to mention the rip off you get with your food, for it to be priced that high... the new manager seemed to be quite professional until after I looked a little deeper and found this. PS there are lots of minors working that saw this video, sadly my son was the one to show me. Sickening.... I preferably don't wanna see the only adults in this establishment shaking their genitalia around children....

We've been members for about five years and it was one of the best choices we made. Hubby and I have our summer home in Lake Hopatcong, and there isn't high quality entertainment in the area. We get to see NYC type shows without having to drive all the way to the city. We've seen NYC comedians, cabaret singers, violinists and pianists from Julliard, and more. I can't recommend this club more highly. We've also been able to take visiting clients to shows.

We LOVE the GSYC!!! The most welcoming, kindest, warm and fun people I have ever met. All ages are welcome. People love to have fun. Difficult to keep up with this group. Lot's of activities , entertainment, trips, great food and tons of laughs. My boat loves it too.

This is the best place on the lake to relax, eat a meal or see a show. Members only but simple to join.

We just had the most delicious dinner at the GYSC and next we will be entertained by some amazing talent from Julliard. Lot of fun.

We joined when my kids were 7 and 9. They are now both teenagers and continue to enjoy everything about the club. It's such a great place to socialize with other families and easy to bring guests to the annual Memorial Day and Labor Day pool parties (without having to cook at home!) Swimming, ping pong, tether ball, and of course boating are just a few of our favorite summer pleasures, not to mention the great food.

Garden State Yacht Club

The Garden State Yacht Club, founded more than 70 years ago, has a rich lake history. We are well-known for our exceptional amenities, many of them unique to Lake Hopatcong. There are dock slips and a marina, an oversized heated pool, tennis and pickleball courts, and a lakeside fire pit with unbelievable views. We have weekly entertainment including music, well-known talent and both fine and casual dining. The camaraderie amongst the members is outstanding.

One of the best kept secrets on the lake. The Garden State Yacht club offers boating, a full size heated pool and great entertainment.

Great facility. I attended a conference here in September 2019.

Loving and kind members. We were accepted from the first day. We have new friends for life, great entertainiment and food every Friday-Saturday and Sunday during summer and fun events during off season. The pool is wonderful. A must for all.

We attended, as guests, a wonderful evening of dinner and contemporary dancing on 8/24/2013. The food was wonderful, the Anniemash Band was fabulous, the Club is beautiful...but most of all, the people (members) were all so welcoming and just having a blast!!! It's the people that make or break a place, and this place has been around for over 60 years! We are giving serious consideration to joining.

Stress-Free Sailing Races Kick Off On Lake Hopatcong

Races will take place every saturday at 11 a.m., beginning on saturday, june 5, at the garden state yacht club, wind and weather-depending..

HOPATCONG, NJ — Mark Gruber says that he’s shifted over the years from a competitive sailor, to what he calls a “gentleman sailor.”

Gruber, who grew up on Lake Hopatcong is the Fleet Captain and Rear Commodore of the Garden State Yacht Club, described competitive sailing as a normally “very tense,” atmosphere, with all boats crowded at the starting line and sailors vying for prizes.

In its place, the Yacht Club now offers weekly “stress-free sailing” races, the first one on Saturday at 11 a.m., which are free to enter and open to local sailors throughout the Lake Hopatcong region.

Every race throughout the summer will be held at that time, beginning at the Garden State Yacht Club, which is near Hopatcong State Park and on land, at 33 Point Pleasant Rd.

“This is just the opposite [of competitive sailing],” Gruber said.

It’s these races where the gentleman sailor comes in, Gruber said during an interview with Patch, where rather than being competitive, sailors begin racing toward the finishing buoy and then send in their time.

Many, he said, do like he does and simply enjoy floating with the wind and a cooler packed with sodas.

“I call it ‘stress-free,’ because some don’t even call in their time,” Gruber added.

Those who do send in their time, will simply be able to compare how they did with boats of the same or similar class.

“In general, everyone’s just out for a good time with a competitive spirit,” Gruber said. “It’s like a group sail.”

Sailors who are interested in participating in Saturday’s race, should contact Gruber by email to confirm their attendance at: [email protected] .

From there, Gruber said he will send an email to everyone interested, by about 9 a.m. the Saturday of every race, to confirm or cancel the race. Races would not take place, Gruber said, on days when conditions are too windy or stormy; or there isn’t adequate wind.
