Went for wedding. 4 stars for setting. Venue was gorgeous on the water. Food was decent - but Im not sure if event was catered or not. Service was great. All around beautiful event at a great location.

Spare yourself and your wedding dreams and DO NOT BOOK THIS VENUE! We spent 13 grand here and worked on planning the wedding for 2 years with Sharon , the wedding coordinator . The day of our wedding she was a no show and some guy named Bill showed up who we never met before and was nothing but extremely loud obnoxious and rude . Our specialty drink we paid extra for was missing, a food dish was missing and appetizers weren't served to us like they were supposed to be after the ceremony . We arrived around noon and not one single time did did any employee there even ask if we needed any drinks at all. Nobody set up the room like they were supposed to so my entire family set everything up themselves , while I was alone upstairs the entire morning before the wedding. I will never forget how horrible of a wedding experience I ended up having because of how horrible this place is ran . They'll tell you yes to everything and get you excited just to disregard everything when the day arrives . Cheesecake was supposed to be served at the end of the night also which wasn't and when when we asked why they said just because you aren't getting it now . Back to the loud unprofessional guy bill, he yelled at the end of the night that my wedding was over almost an hour before the actual ending time . Half of my guest left before this was corrected . Also wouldn't allow the dj to play music loud enough because the trailer home residents . Another thing never mentioned . My heart aches when ever I think about how bad they screwed up all that we had planned , paid and hoped for . Also nobody directed guests as they were arriving and everyone was clueless as to where they were supposed to go / do. We ended up coming back for a meeting because clearly we were highly upset and definitely deserved money back to an extent but go figure the head person of the yacht club is Sharon's husband and he laughed in our faces . I'll forever be devastated that my wedding experience will always remain this .

WEDDING VENUE REVIEW - Hadn't thought much about the events leading up to our wedding, since we got married. My mother in-law and wife dealt directly with the contact (I believe her name was Deb). From all accounts, Deb was helpful and Pleasant. Once the venue was paid for an outside caterer, Ben, who you must use if you book your wedding there, runs it. I flew in town on specific dates to see the venue and do a tasting. Ben had told my wife to just call the day before we wanted to come and it wouldn't be a problem. She calls and he was rude and could not accommodate the next day. I called and tried to relate, since I work in hospitality. Ben was rude, unprofessional and at one point angrily stated, "you can come pick up your check, I don't need your business". Well, If we weren't a month away from our wedding, that's exactly what we would have done. He finally stated that we could do a tasting the day after we were trying for. When we went for the tasting, Ben never met with us, only his daughter who was absolutely professional, polite and served us terrific food. She apologized for the interaction I had with her father which was nice, but should have come from Ben. The venue is beautiful. That much I can attest to. The day of the wedding was good. Ben, although not dressed for the occasion (polo and black wk out style pants), served good, hot food, was professional, but again, never mentioned the issue. We only had one problem with the food. it was buffet and after only 1 trip per guest, Ben and his staff broke down the food stations and were heading out. They did not ask if anyone wanted seconds or speak to any of us, just started packing up. My mother in-law asked Ben what was happening. His only response, "I thought you were finished". After it was over, we were cleaning up and a random guy came in who we had never seen before, and started yelling for us to hurry up. He even turned off the lights. My mother in-law got to him before me. All in all, I would not recommend this venue. Not treated well.

Heather and Sean's Wedding Day at the Eastern Point Yacht Club in Gloucester.

Heather and Sean hail from sunny California, venturing into the Northeast for their lovely coastal Yacht Club wedding.  Heather is basically a big time news anchor in LA, and Sean shares an affinity (LOVE!) of surfing with me (Except he is REALLY good).  Oh, and Heather didn't let it get to her at all when she managed to BREAK her ankle and foot doing Crossfit a few days before the wedding.  Nothing was going to hold her back from having a wonderful day....plus is meant that she was carried everywhere by Sean, haha.  I had a blast with these two and I hope you enjoy.

Emerald Hills

Emerald Hills is Etalon Group’s flagship project in the Moscow Region. The complex is built in one of the most environmentally cleanareas in the Moscow region. It is surrounded by coniferousforest, and adjacent to one side is a landscaped park withspace to relax and walking paths that will be developed. The project also includes seven preschools, five schools, a medical centre with a polyclinic for adults and children, a ballet school, a shopping centre, a sports and entertainmentcomplex and a fitness centre.

Etalon City

Etalon City is located in the South Butovo region in south-west Moscow, which is a well-developed residential area that benefit from natural surroundings. The complex includes nine comfort-class residential buildings, commercial premises, and other social infrastructure.

Etalon City has good transport accessibility; the Ulitsa Skobelevskaya metro station and a number of bus stops are situated within walking distance. One special aspect of this complex is its architectural concept.Each house has a facade that symbolises a different city. In addition to the facade design, the themes are developed through the decoration of public areas and landscape design

Summer Garden

This project is comprised of 11 residential buildings of up to 24 storeys, as well as commercial and social infrastructure. The project includes 3,081 apartments and 1,181 parking spaces. The project benefits from both good transport accessibility and proximity to parks.

Summer Garden is situated in a pleasant area close to the Angarsk Prudy Park, Dmitrovsky Park, and the Veteran Theme Park. It is easily accessed from Yahromsky Passage and the Dmitrovskoye Shosse. Seligerskaya metro station, on which construction recently started, is just 1.5 km from the complex, and there are plans to build another metro station, Yubileinaya, adjacent to the site

Silver Fountain

Silver Fountain is Etalon Group’s first high-end business-class project in Moscow. It is located in Moscow’s North-Eastern Administrative Division, close to Prospekt Mira. Silver Fountain will consist of five residential and commercial buildings, including a business centre, as well as social infrastructure and parking. The Company worked with leading architects to create a unique gated residential complex in the historic centre of Moscow.

The design of the new buildings is inspired by historical facades, while allowing for modern floorplans. The neighbourhood where Silver Fountain is located is surrounded by the green area of Sokolniki Park. VDNKh, one of Moscow’s most popular parks and exhibition centres, is also within walking distance of the site. The heart of the city, Red Square, is just 15 minutes by car from the project

Normandy is a comfort-class residential project comprising five residential buildings of up to 24 storeys each, underground parking facilities, a preschool and a primary school. The project is located in Moscow’s Losinoostrovsky district, which has well-developed infrastructure, including educational and healthcare facilities, shopping malls and cafes. It is one of Moscow’s greenest neighbourhoods, with the 12,000-hectare Losiny Ostrov National Park less than 3 km away from the complex, and Torfyanoy and Tayezhny Parks within a 10-minute walk.

The district lies in close proximity to the Moscow City Ring Road (MKAD) and has easy access to major transport routes. The complex is within walking distance of two metro stations, Medvedkovo and Babushkinskaya

Golden Star

Located in the Sokolinaya Gora district (Eastern administrative division of Moscow), the Golden Star project benefits from good access to central Moscow by metro and by car: the nearest metro station, Shosse Entuziastov, is within a 10-minute walk, while driving to the centre should take no more than 15 minutes. The completion of the northeast section of the Fourth Transport Ring will further improve access for Golden Star residents. Golden Star is situated in an area with well-developed infrastructure and is approximately 800 metres from Izmaylovskiy park, one of Moscow’s largest parks

The Wings residential complex is located in the picturesque Ramenki part of Moscow's western administrative district, an area with an array of amenities that is considered one of the most prestigious parts of the capital. Several of Russia's leading universities are located within easy reach of the complex: Lomonosov Moscow State University, MGIMO University, the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation and several others.

The complex offers convenient access to several of the capital's main transport arteries: the Moscow Ring Road, the Third Ring Road, Michurinsky Prospekt and Lobacheskogo Street. The Michurinsky Prospekt metro station is within walking distance. In addition, by 2024, a mass transit station will be available at the Aminevskoe Shosse metro station, which is currently under construction. This will enable residents of the complex to reach the city centre in 15 minutes

Schastye v Lianozovo

The Schastye v Liazonovo project is located in the north-east of Moscow in an area that features a wide range of amenities, including numerous shopping and entertainment centres, supermarkets, high schools and preschools. Nearby can be found several green spaces, such as Altufevo Park and Lizonovskiy Park. Klyazminskoe Reservoir, a popular recreation area, is a 20-minute drive away. The residential complex includes a varied-height building (from 8 to 12 storeys) and a two-level underground parking garage. The ground floor of the complex includes commercial space that house a pharmacy, cafes, shops and public services. A protected area adjacent to the building is landscaped to add flowerbeds, green spaces, as well as sports and playgrounds and other recreation areas. The project offers good transport accessibility due to its proximity of the Moscow Ring Road and Altufevo metro station (1.2 km)

Residence on Pokrovskiy Boulevard

The residence on Pokrovskiy Boulevard is located in the Basmanny district in the very heart of the capital. There are numerous cultural and historical attractions in its immediate vicinity, including the Kremlin, Red Square and St Basil's Cathedral, among others. Despite its central location, the complex is located in a quiet, peaceful pocket of green space adjacent to the Milyutinsky and Morozov gardens. The residential complex is a seven-storey, premium-class apartment building that offers two parking levels, as well as an area for business meetings on the ground floor. The apartments in the facility range from 50 to 161 square metres, with two luxurious penthouses on the top floor. The project is located within walking distance of the Kurskaya (1 km), Chistye Prudy, Chkalovskaya and Kitay-gorod metro stations. It also offers convenient access to the Garden and Boulevard ring roads, as well as other major thoroughfares, such as Zemlyanoi Val Street, Nikoloyamskaya Street and Serebryanicheskaya Embankment

Schastye na Sokole

The Schastye na Sokole project is located in the Aeroport area of Moscow’s northern administrative district. This part of the city offers well-developed infrastructure and is within walking distance of everything one might need to make life more comfortable: supermarkets, educational institutions, kindergartens, a cinema, as well as a square with a pond, the Dendrological Garden and Timiryazevskiy Park with its beaches and ponds. The complex is a two-section building joined by a walkway. The five-storey and ten-storey sections house 87 apartments of 40 to 109 square metres, with a ceiling height of 3.2 m. A fireplace may be installed in the apartments on the top floor, which also offer a beautiful view of a pond and green space. The project includes a private landscaped space, a two-level parking garage, as well as storage space for bicycles and prams. The complex offers easy access to Leningradskiy Prospekt and Volokamskoe Shosse and Leningradskoe Shosse, and it is also within walking distance of the Aeroport (800 m) and Sokol (1 km) metro stations.

ZIL-YUG is a large-scale multi-use development project located on the former grounds of the ZIL automobile plant in the Danilovskiy part of Moscow’s southern administrative district. With a total area of 109 hectares, the project will be located just 6 km from the Kremlin, near the Moscow River, as well as the Tyufeleva Roshcha and Kozhukhovo parks. The community will be home to approximately 60,000 residents, with its own cultural and exhibition centre, shopping centre, schools and preschools, as well as a polyclinic and a hospital. Its proximity to the Third Ring Road and Prospekt Antropova ensures excellent transport accessibility for the community, which is also within walking distance of the ZIL, Tekhnopark and Avtozavodskaya metro stations

Nagatino i-Land

This is a unique residential neighbourhhod located next to the Moscow River and several parks: Kolomenskoye, Tyufeleva Roshcha and Nagatinskaya Poyma. Also located nearby are large shopping centres, business centres in the state-of-the-art Nagatino i-Land office cluster, as well as the world's largest amusement park, Island of Miracles, which is set to open in the near future. The project is based on the principle of integrated residential development to create a comfortable environment for living and working. Residential complexes of 5 to 32 storeys, office centres, as well as social, medical, sports and commercial infrastructure will also be built as part of the new neighbourhood.

The project offers convenient transport accessibility: following the Nagatinskaya Embankment, one can reach the historical centre of Moscow in 10 minutes. In addition, the Tekhnopark metro station, the ZIL Moscow Central Circle station and access to the Third Ring Road and the Moscow Ring Road are all within easy reach of the estate

Residence on Vsevolozhskiy

The Residence on Vsevolozhskiy is located in the so-called Golden Mile in the Khamovniki district in the very heart of Moscow. The nearest green areas are Turgenev Park and Devichye Pole. Amenities in the Golden Mile include two high schools, pre-schools, other educational facilities, art and music schools, as well as polyclinics for children and adults, dentists and medical centres.

The residential complex is a six-storey, premium-class building that offers a choice of apartments ranging from 104 to 250 square metres, with ceilings 3.45 m in height and magnificent views of the Kremlin, the dome of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and the Zachatievsky Monastery. The residential part of the complex and the parking area are equipped with a Smart Home system. Schastye na Dmitrovke

The Schastye na Dmitrovke residential complex is located in the quiet and peaceful Dmitrovskiy area of the northern administrative district of Moscow, away from noisy highways and offering a range of amenities. The Veteran and Angarsk Ponds parks are within easy reach of the residential complex, as are numerous shops, sports facilities, schools and preschools.

The project is a 15-storey building with commercial premises on the ground floor The apartments range in size from 38 to 87 square metres, with a ceiling height of up to 3.5 metres. The project involves landscaping of the surrounding grounds, as well as underground parking. The residential complex offers access to Dmitrovskoe Shosse and the Moscow Ring Road, which makes it easy to reach different parts of the city.

Schastye na Leninskom

The Schastye na Leninskom residential complex is located in the Troparevo-Nikulino district in the western part of Moscow, which is one of most environmentally friendly districts in the capital and features a wide array of amenities. Within walking distance are various supermarkets, schools, a pharmacy, private medical centres and a theatre. Also nearby are many green areas, including Nikulino Park, the Tyopliy Stan Landscape Reserve, and the Yugo-Zapadniy and Troparevskiy municipal forests.

The project is a 12-storey residential complex with a two-level parking garage that is located in an enclosed landscaped area with guest parking, playgrounds and sports facilities, as well as recreation areas. The first two floors of the complex are allocated for commercial premises and a children's centre. The project offers convenient access to Leninskiy Prospekt, Bakinskikh Street and Prospekt Vernandskogo, and it is within walking distance of the Yugo-Zapadnaya metro station (1.2 km).

Schastye na Maslovke

The Schastye na Maslovke residential complex is located in the Savelovsky district in the north of Moscow, an area with an abundance of green space. Located nearby are Petrovskiy Park and Khimkinskiy Park, with a pond and other natural recreation areas. In addition, the northern administrative district is one of the best-developed areas of the capital in terms of social infrastructure.

The project is a seven-storey building designed for 57 apartments with open-plan layouts ranging from 49 to 152 square metres. A fireplace may be installed in the apartments on the top floors. The complex will include underground parking, a development centre for children and commercial premises on the ground floor, as well as an enclosed area around the building. The Dinamo metro station is located 1 km from the complex, and there is also convenient access to Leningradsky Propekt and the Third Ring Road.

Schastye na Presne

The Schastye na Presnye residential complex is located in the prestigious Presnenskiy district in the very centre of Moscow, not far from the Moscow International Business Centre (Moscow City). Just 100 metres from the complex is the picturesque and green Krasnogvardeiskiy Bulvar, with its cascade of ponds, behind which are Krasnaya Presnya Park and the embankment of the Moscow River.Within walking distance numerous shops, two preschools, a sports centre and the Expocentre can be found.

The project includes a varied-height monolithic tower (from 16 to 19 storeys). The complex has underground parking, a panoramic elevator and apartments with varying ceiling heights. From the second to the fourth floor, the ceiling height is 5.1 m; from the fifth to the sixteenth floor, it is 3.3 m; and on the upper floors, the apartments have a ceiling height of 3.6 m. The panoramic windows in the apartments offer stunning views of Moscow City, the Moscow River embankment, the Krasnogvardeyskie ponds and other attractions in the centre of the capital.

Schastye na Skhodnenskoy

The Schastye na Skhodnenskoy residential complex is located in South Tushino in the north-western administrative district of Moscow, an area that offers a wide array of amenities. There are numerous green spaces and natural bodies of water nearby, such as the Moscow Canal, the Skhodnenskiy Canal, the Skhodnenskiy Kovsh and the Severnoe Tushino Park on the shores of the Khimki Reservoir.

The residential complex is a 12-storey, two-section building, the ground floor of which is occupied by commercial premises, a storage room for prams and a concierge room. The complex is conveniently located between the Third Ring Road and the Moscow Ring Road, in close proximity to major thoroughfares, such as Leningradskoe Shosse and Volokamskoe Shosse, as well as Svoboda and Skhodnenskaya Streets. The nearest metro station, Skhodnenskaya (1 km), is a 10-minute walk away .

Schastye na Volgogradke

The Schastye na Volgogradke residential complex is located in the Ryazanskiy district in the south-eastern part of Moscow, a cozy residential area with green courtyards and a wide array of amenities. The complex is located on Fyodor Poletaev Square, near green spaces with ponds: Kuzminki Park and Kuskovskiy Municipal Forest. Amenities include numerous shops, preschools, schools, polyclinics, two hospitals and other facilities that provide for a comfortable standard of living.

The complex includes a 16-storey, two-section building with a two-level parking garage on an area of 0.54 hectares. The project offers convenient access to Volgogradskiy Prospekt and Ryazanskiy Prospekt, which provide further access to the Garden Ring, Third Ring Road and the Moscow Ring Road. The Schastye v Chertanovo residential complex is located in the South Chertanovo district in the southern part of the capital, an area that offers an array of amenities and good environmental conditions. Talisman is a business class residential complex, located in the historic Vasileostrovsky district of St. Petersburg. The complex consists of four 2-11-storey buildings sharing a common platform, constructed using poured concrete technology and featuring the architectural style of the late 19th century. The first project acquired and developed by Etalon Group as part of its regional expansion programme. The new residential development is being built in the southern part of Yekaterinburg, in the vibrant and environmentally-friendly Solnechny neighbourhood – a modern residential area with great transport accessibility and all essential infrastructure including kindergartens and schools, shops, cafes, beauty salons, recreation areas, playgrounds and sports facilities. There will be unique amenities on the territory of the project such as the Governor’s Lyceum, Innovative Kindergarten, and the Centre for Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics – the largest in the Urals and the third-largest and best equipped in Russia. The neighbourhood’s main pedestrian thoroughfare will be a broad tree-lined avenue linking green spaces and parks. The project stands out in terms of its well-conceived architectural and design solutions, with units available in a variety of layouts: flats with terraces and separate entrances, balconies, cool or warm loggias, panoramic windows, corner windows and French floor-to-ceiling windows.

Schastye v Tyumeni

The Schastye v Tyumeni residential complex is the Company’s fourth regional project brought to market since the beginning of 2022. The project consists of three buildings of 15 to 25 floors along with an above-ground multilevel parking garage. The project offers a wide range of apartments with open-plan layouts with a combined kitchen and living room as well as a master bedroom. Some of the apartments on the upper floors have terraces offering panoramic views. The grounds of the complex will feature playgrounds for children of various ages as well as small islands for recreation and sports grounds. The project also plans to include a promenade that will run alongside a gallery of shops and offices with display windows on the ground floor.

The complex is located in the very centre of the city, ensuring that residents will have access to developed social amenities and commercial infrastructure. Within walking distance of the project there are several parks and garden squares, including the City Park of Culture and Recreation, and a well-equipped promenade along the Tura River embankment. Transport accessibility is provided by convenient access to the city’s major thoroughfares. In the future, there will be a substitute for Profsoyuznaya Street, a new park area along Severnaya Street, and a pedestrian boulevard.

Schastye v Kazani

The residential complex is located in a developed green area with extensive social and commercial infrastructure: within walking distance are schools, shops and cafes, several shopping centres and sports facilities, including the Ak Bars Arena – one of the largest stadiums in Russia. The complex is located in close proximity to the picturesque Savinovo recreation park, on the banks of the Kazanka River. The project offers convenient transport access onto Prospekt Yamasheva, one of the most important thoroughfares in Kazan.

The landscaping concept for the grounds surrounding the project was developed in collaboration with landscape designers and environmental experts. The Company plans to build operational terraces and publicly accessible recreation areas atop the project’s stylobate; the adjacent grounds will feature recreation and sports facilities, playgrounds as well as an extensive walking area.

This project includes nine residential buildings and several aboveground multilevel parking garages. The ground floors house space for offices, shops, cafes and hairdressers. The landscaped grounds include recreational areas, playgrounds for children and sports facilities, as well as pedestrian and bicycle paths. The grounds of the residential area were designed based on the safe home concept (a car-free courtyard).

The Rauta residential complex is located in a district of Ekaterinburg with developed commercial, social and transport infrastructure. Nearby are a railway station and the northern bus station, an arena for team sports, the Cosmos cinema and concert hall, the Olympic Embankment along the Iset River, a park for walking and relaxing, schools and preschools, supermarkets, shops and cafes.

The Rauta residential complex took part in a pilot project for certification according to the new GOST R green standard (developed for apartment buildings by Dom.rf). The project meets the transitional criteria of the green GOST R standard for residential buildings: a high energy-efficiency rating, landscaped grounds with green space, the use of environmentally friendly materials and accessibility.

Suomen Ranta

The project includes five residential buildings, three of which have already been delivered, as well as underground and aboveground parking areas. The complex offers a wide range of layouts, including open-plan apartments with kitchen–living rooms, walk-in closets and utility rooms, as well as the possibility of dividing apartments into common and private areas. Space for seasonal storage is available in the underground part of the buildings. The ground floors house commercial infrastructure, including a supermarket and a marketplace pickup point. The grounds include separate areas for games, sports and general recreation as well as bicycle and pedestrian paths.

The complex is located in a developed area of Ekaterinburg, on the banks of the Iset River, within easy reach of Mayakovskiy Park, the largest park in the city. Within walking distance can be found all the necessary commercial infrastructure and social amenities as well as public transport stops and two metro stations. A convenient exit onto one of the city’s key roadways, the Novokoltsovskiy Highway, a bypass road, ensures excellent accessibility for motorists.

Baltym Park

Baltym Park is a new family neighbourhood, a modern urban quarter with residential areas, infrastructure facilities and public spaces. The project consists of three- and five-storey buildings, the main feature of which are open terraces on the ground floors. Sports grounds, bike paths and exercise equipment for outdoor sports are available on in the microdistrict.

Social and commercial infrastructure are within walking distance.

The microdistrict consists of buildings varying in height from 9 to 16 storeys along with several infrastructure facilities. The project includes individual storerooms on underground floors and parking around the perimeter of the residential complex. The neighbourhood has its own promenade, bike paths and a workout area. The project features developed infrastructure: shopping malls, preschools, schools, consumer services and its own police station are at the disposal of residents.

Schastye v Koltsovo

The first phase of construction includes eight buildings varying in height from 7 to 16 storeys. The buildings include storage rooms for seasonal items as well as pram storage on the ground floors. The inner courtyard of the first building will be equipped with playgrounds for children, areas with exercise machines, bicycle racks, areas designated for rest and relaxation, a sensory labyrinth, as well as an inclusive playground that will enable children with disabilities to play and develop together with their peers. The customised landscape design for the Schastye v Koltsovo project envisages the creation of green spaces where residents can exercise or do yoga.

The Schastye v Koltsovo project is being built in the Novosibirsk metropolitan area, in the Koltsovo district. The district boasts well-developed infrastructure and is one of the leading research and manufacturing hubs in the region. It offers excellent transport accessibility, with highways connecting it to Novosibirsk’s Pervomaiskiy district through Baryshevo to the north-west, and with Akademgorodok to the south.

Suita Quarter

The design of the residential complex calls for the construction of two eight-storey apartment buildings with a one-storey section connecting them. Plans are in place to build an underground parking lot for the complex and to allocate two floors for commercial premises. There will be a playground for children and sports facilities in the car-free inner courtyard, which will also lack transit footpaths.

The residential complex is being built in the city centre, and within walking distance are not only commercial and social infrastructure facilities but also several of the city’s points of interest: the Tukaya Philharmonic Hall, the Kazan Zoo and Botanical Garden, the Ekiyat Puppet Theatre, etc.

The transport infrastructure makes the railway station, Kazan airport and the city’s main thoroughfare – the Great Kazan Ring Road – easily accessible.

The project includes six buildings varying in height from 17 to 19 storeys, with plans for individual storerooms on the underground floor, wheelchair-accessible spaces on the ground floor and an open multilevel parking lot on the grounds. All of the complex’s buildings are being built using modern eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient technologies. The functionality of the buildings is a result of using not only innovative equipment but also rational planning solutions.

The project also pays special attention to improving the Noksa River embankment, where sports facilities, running tracks and recreation areas will be built in the surrounding parkland.

Beyond Preservation: Post-Soviet Reconstructions of the Strelna and Tsaritsyno Palace-Parks

This essay tells the story of two Russian imperial palace-parks – Petersburg’s Strelna and Moscow’s Tsaritsyno, both federally protected imperial heritage sites reclaimed from physical ruin in twenty-first century post-Soviet Russia. Both palace-parks were subjected to major, highly controversial reconstruction, and in their new incarnations now assert post-Soviet Russia’s status as the inheritor-heir of imperial Russian cultural property. Both projects also bring into sharp relief the terms of contemporary debate and cultural politics surrounding heritage and preservation in the two cities. During the early post-Soviet years, the Strelna and Tsaritsyno palaces lay in ruins as “couldhave-beens,” intriguingly suggestive of alternative histories. At the turn of the twenty-first century, as Vladimir Putin began his first term as Russian President and Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov contemplated a second decade in office, Strelna and Tsaritsyno both offered ideal opportunities for the post-Soviet repurposing of cultural heritage – reclaiming the imperial past by fulfilling its unrealized promise, and reconstructing heritage with a creative hand. The major Russian imperial palace-parks in the environs of St. Petersburg (Tsarskoe Selo, Peterhof, etc.) are “classic” examples of Russian lieux de mémoire , to use Pierre Nora’s famous term. To what extent, in what different ways, and to what effect do the new postSoviet versions of Strelna and Tsaritsyno assert their own status as Russian cultural lieux de mémoire ?

Cet article s’intéresse au cas de deux palais impériaux russes et à leurs jardins: Strelna à Petersburg et Tsaritsyno à Moscou, deux sites de l’héritage impérial sauvés au XXI e  s. Les deux palais ont subi une reconstruction majeure et hautement controversée ; ils affirment désormais que la Russie postsoviétique est l’héritière de la culture impériale russe. Les deux projets ont cristallisé le débat actuel à propos de la politique culturelle concernant l’héritage impérial et sa préservation dans les deux villes. Durant les premières années de l’après-soviétisme, les ruines des deux palais suggéraient une fascinante histoire alternative. Au tournant du siècle, alors que Putin commençait son premier mandat de président russe et que Lužkov envisageait une seconde décennie à la tête de la mairie de Moscou, Strel′na et Tsaritsyno offrirent tous les deux l’occasion idéale de prendre une nouvelle direction dans l’appropriation de cet héritage culturel : récupérer le passé impérial en lui donnant d’accomplir enfin sa promesse, reconstruire de façon créative. Moscow: a city of contradictions.

Dating back more than eight centuries, Moscow is the vibrant and chaotic capitol of the largest country on earth. At the foot of its ramparts sits Red Square, the beating heart of the city and home to a humbling host of reminders of Moscow’s intriguing past. Steeped in the Past

Once one of the world’s most expensive cities, recent economic changes mean that hotels in Moscow are far more affordable and travellers with a passion for the past are flocking to the ancient metropolis. Palatial Parks and Stellar Shopping

When you grow tired of history, take some time to explore some the city’s other wonders. Famed as one of the world’s greenest capitals, Moscow has over 100 parks, each a little different from the next. From the dancing babushkas of Izmailovsky Park, to the breath-taking beauty of the Tsarist Royal Estate at Kolomenskoe Park, the variety of greenspaces is unparalleled. Patriarch’s Pond is much-loved by Muscovites, and is often sought out by outsiders in search of an ‘authentic’ Russian experience, while the perennially-popular Gorky Park has evolved into one of the cultural epicentres of the city. For some jaw-dropping window shopping, head to GUM or TsUM, two of the most prestigious malls on the planet. Popular thoroughfare Tverskaya, the city’s central street since the Middle Ages, is alive with vibrant cafes, restaurants and shopping options. Hotels here are reasonably-priced, but can suffer from noise because of the 24-hour timetable.

As the Moon Hangs over Moscow

At night, the city hardly stops to draw breath as its abundance of bars, nightclubs and restaurants burst into life. Head to the Bolshoi Theatre to see gravity-defying ballet at its best, or soak up a Shostakovich symphony at the Conservatory. Talk philosophy with the locals on the terrace of a riverside café, or take a stroll around the Old Arbat region, a tourist stretch once home to some of the country’s most renowned writers and composers. Let loose with a night of vodka-induced dancing or sip classic cocktails in a stylish sky bar. No matter how your evening unfolds, make your way to a hotel rooftop in the small hours to watch the sunrise over the domed skyline—one of the most awe-inspiring vistas in world travel. For many, simply strolling the sprawling mass that is Moscow and feeling the snow crunch underfoot is a memorable moment in itself.

Dizzying Districts

The city is divided into several districts which spread out like petals from its central point. Featuring monasteries and bathhouses, traditional Petrovka district includes several eateries, boutiques and upmarket hotels. To the south of here sits the Ukrainian Quarter, an area of architectural treasures, crooked streets and run-down buildings. Hotels here are in short supply, but true-to-tradition streets are well worth a wander. The colourful Arbat district is littered with souvenir shops and cafes, and its alleys are lined with reminders of the city’s rich literary history. Finding a hotel here isn’t always easy, but prices are amongst the cheapest in the city if you search hard enough. Beyond the Garden Ring Road there is an abundance of accommodation to suit all budgets and traveller types. While situated a little distance from central Moscow, regular metro links into the heart of the hive mean this is only a minor hindrance.

Landslide processes on the Moscow city territory have been studied more than a hundred years. The study area is located in the central part of the Vorobyovy Gory, covering the area from the Moscow observation deck to the Moscow metro bridge. The length of the visually defined landslides is up to several hundred meters, and the visible width along the axial part of the landslide is more than 300 m. The volume of soil involved in the landslide deformation is estimated as 2 million m 3 . The surface slope, the elevation of which reaches 60–70 m, has a typical landslide terrain. The deposits of Carboniferous, Jurassic, Cretaceous, and Quaternary systems are presented in structure section.

This paper deals with the nature, mechanism, and spatial distribution of landslide processes on the Vorobyovy Gory in Moscow, based on new factual data with the consideration of the regional geological history.

This material made it possible to draw the following conclusions. Firstly, the area involved in landslide processes on the Vorobyovy Gory is characterized by larger values in terms of area and depth than it previously assumed. In the head part, where the displacement zone is located at the depths of 80–100 m, the deformations, confined to the lower part of the Jurassic deposits, have a block character. Secondly, we can talk about a combined mechanism of the development of large-scale landslide massif “Vorobyovy Gory”, including plastic flow with the forming of shaft bulging, crash with throwing, block offsets, and other types of deformations. Both primary and secondary displacements can be distinguished in this landslide massif.

Golf holidays in Russia, Moscow

Historically tourists have been holidaying in Russia for numerous reasons – to enjoy nature, to relish the Russian wildlife, to take in its varied history, to show off their winter sports skills etc.

However, in recent times one more reason to visit Russia has become popular – to play Golf.

Believe it or not, but the first Russian 18-hole Golf course was built in the suburban area of Nakhabino, Moscow in 1994.

Moscow Golf and Country Club remained the only 18-hole Golf course in the country for many years.

Since then many more Golf courses have been added and today, Golf holidays in Russia is one of the country’s biggest tourist attractions.

Russia is one of the largest countries in the world and the weather varies from one part of the country to the other drastically.

Some parts of Russia get extreme weather, and it is not possible to play Golf all through the year.

Thankfully, the main Golf courses are in and around Moscow. Apart from long and bitter winters, Moscow enjoys mostly pleasant warm weather.

Winter is from the beginning of November until the end of March. It is best to avoid Golf tours to Russia during these months.

Golfing season in Russia begins from April and goes on until October.

Autumn lasts for two months from September to October and these two months are the best for Golf holidays in Russia.

Russia has some of finest Golf courses in Eastern Europe.

1. Skolkovo Golf Club Course

Skolkovo Golf Club  has one of the finest Golf course in Russia.

Legendary American Golfer Jack Nicklaus designed this Russian Golf course.

The sprawling greens at this course have many lakes and bunkers providing ample challenge to Golfers from all over the World.

2. Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club Course

Tseleevo Golf & Polo Club Course  situated at picturesque forest area 42 km north from Moscow is another fine Russian course.

This was also designed by Jack Nicklaus in 2008.

In 2013, this course hosted the European Tour – when the prestigious tournament returned to Russia after five years.

This course also has a luxury Golf resort.

Besides Golf, this resort also has a ski slope, a polo club, a hunting club and luxurious amenities to help you unwind after a day outdoors.

3. Zavidovo PGA National Golf course

An hour’s drive from Moscow takes you to the Zavidovo PGA National Golf course .

Built with a traditional Scottish aesthetics, it offers good water challenges.

This is Russia’s first and only Golf course carrying the prestigious PGA title.

4. Pestovo Golf Club Course

The Pestovo Golf Club Course  is a world-class 18-hole course stretching 6,483 m (about 7,090 yards).

It has been specially designed to host major tournaments.

It has artificial obstacles which compensate for lack of scenic beauty.

It also offers a yacht club for entertainment and relaxation.

5. Moscow Country Club Course

The Moscow Country Club Course  is the best-known Golf course in Russia.

Situated outside Moscow, it offers 300 acres of beautiful Golfing greens.

Half the holes here present a water challenge.

The signature is a 576-yard par five 5th.

This course deserves special mention, as it put Russia on the Golfing map of the world.

Balancing the water challenges are beautiful forest park-like views.

The greens and the clubhouses are all kept in excellent condition.

No doubt it is the favorite destination of the tourists who book Russian Golf packages.

Dunes Golf and Country Club is near St Petersburg, Russia’s cultural capital as well as its second largest city.

Other good Golf courses include the Moscow City Golf Club, Don Gold and Country Club, the Pirogovo Country Club and the Links National Golf Club.

Of these four Golf clubs, only the Links Club has an 18-hole course.
