Program Dates : Monday-Thursday

Program time : 9:00-3:00, locations : prescott park and creek farm, group size : up to 12 campers, cost : $450 (10% discount for members or when you sign up with a friend or sibling), 2024 summer program dates:, august 19-22.

Join the Gundalow Company and Kittery Point Yacht Club’s Sailing School for a special 4- day long summer camp program. During this program, campers will spend the mornings exploring Creek Farm or sailing aboard the Gundalow. Then, in the afternoon, they will be transported via motorboat to a large float in the Portsmouth back channel to learn the ins and outs of sailing. KPYC’s program is designed for sailors ages eight and older who are ready to learn and practice fundamental sailing skills while gaining greater confidence skippering 420s and Optimists. Campers will be taught in the sailing school boats with one to three campers per boat depending on skill level. The goal is to teach each sailor how to confidently control the tiller and sail simultaneously in order to handle the boats independently. Campers will learn sailing nomenclature, knot tying, boat rigging, boat handling , wind direction , water safety and boat maintenance.

Camp Huckins

Since 1928, Camp Huckins has been providing an enriching summer experience for children. Situated on the beautiful Lake Ossipee in Freedom, New Hampshire, Camp Huckins is an accredited YMCA Camp for girls. Camp Kabeyun

Camp Merrowvista

Camp Starfish (Therapeutic Focus)

Camp Winaukee

An all boys camp on Lake Winnepausakee serving ages 7-15. There are two campuses: younger campers, boys ages 7-12, live together on the Mainland. Older boys, 13-15, live on the Island. Circus Smirkus

Fully Involved Firefighter Camp for Girls

Camp Fully Involved is a physically challenging, aggressive hands-on, live-in week long summer camp directed towards young women between the ages of 14 (and having completed the 8th grade) and 20 who are interested in exploring the career of a firefighter.  Check site for registration info. 

YMCA Camp Foss

YMCA Camp Foss for girls ages 8-15 is located on 275 acres of woods between Parker and Evans Mountains in beautiful Strafford, New Hampshire. Girls explore new friendships, take healthy risks, and learn about becoming confident, independent young women. The private shores of Willey Pond provide the perfect setting for swim lessons, boating, and waterfront fun. There are also tennis courts, archery range, soccer field, climbing tower, high and low challenge courses, dance studio, and arts & crafts lodge. Registration now open.

YMCA Camp Mi-Te-Na

YMCA Camp Mi-Te-Na for boys ages 8-15 is located on 70 wooded acres in peaceful Alton, New Hampshire. Our camp is the proud home to one of the most complex challenge courses in the area, including a climbing tower, zip line, and high and low ropes courses! We offer outdoor basketball courts, two tennis courts, an archery range, a baseball field, soccer field, football field, outdoor hockey rink, beach volleyball, rifle range, and private waterfront along Halfmoon Lake in order to provide a wide variety of exiting activities for our campers to try.  Registration now open.

Maine School of Science & Mathematics

Started in 1997, we have been keeping kids academically stimulated during the summer for a quarter century. MSSM STEM Summer Camp has a calculated blend of STEM classes and engaging afternoon and evening activities, offering an unparalleled experience for academically motivated students. No prior experience or knowledge is required, only a love of STEM. The structure will still be four weeks, but even those are changing. The first week will be for boys ages 10-12, then two weeks of Capstone weeks for all genders ages 12-14, then the final week for girls ages 10-12.  Registration now open.

Moose River Outpost

MRO is a co-ed adventure camp for 11-17 year olds. Moose River Outpost is a camping ministry where mentoring takes place in the midst of adventure in the storied woods of Northern Maine. Tamarack Tennis Camp

Tamarack Tennis Camp lies at the foot of Mount Kinsman in New Hampshire’s beautiful White Mountains. For more than 50 years, Tamarack has offered a place for children ages 10-15 to learn and develop a love of tennis. Upside Arts

Upside Arts Overnight Camp (open to ages 8-17) will be creating whimsy and singing “The Friendship Song” this summer on the beautiful Worthley Pond at Camp North Star in Poland, ME! Established in 1984, The Whale Camp’s marine science program has had an exceptional experiential impact on hundreds of students ages 10 to 17. BKS Dance Program

Portsmouth School of Ballet

From Creative Movement Camp for children as young as three to summer intensives for ages 9-19, PSB has it all. Registration now open. 

Join us for a week that is jam-packed with dancing, tye-dye, water activities and an end-of-the-week performance (Friday at 5pm). Also offering intensives for Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Tap.  Registration opens soon. 

UNH Theater & Dance STARS Camps

The UNH Department of Theatre & Dance offers day camps for students in Grades 3-12 that cover a wide variety of skills and genres: Drama, musical theatre, puppetry, aerial arts, dance, theatre company, and technical theatre Camps culminate in a performance for family and friends. Registration opens February 13.

Outdoor or Animal Focused Day Camps

Acorn school.

Camp runs for six weeks, and is generally  staffed by current Acorn teachers, and typically each child can attend for at least two of those weeks. Camp runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week, from 9am-1pm with a different theme each week.  Registration for Camp Acorn begins in February.

Berwick Academy Summer Camps

Our summer program brings all the beauty of art and nature to children ages 2 years 9 months to 6 in the primary group, while elementary students are in a different group. Camp Wildcat

Camp Wildcat is a long-standing Day Camp sponsored by UNH Campus Recreation. The mission of Camp Wildcat, established in 1985, is to provide a variety of recreational opportunities to community children while also enhancing the educational experiences of UNH students. Programs promote growth and development for the campers while offering the college students meaningful work experience. Enrollment for Camp Wildcat 2024 is expected to open on Tuesday, February 13.

Community Roots Farm

​Discover the wonders of a working farm, through daily outdoor sensory explorations, imaginative play, creative art and hands-on experiences. We will explore the forest, field, pond, barns, pastures and gardens while making connections to our food, the animals, the natural world and each other.  Check website for upcoming registration info.

Coyote Club

A 5 day full camp of exploration, discovery and adventure throughout July and August. This program will give students the opportunity to get in some quality “dirt time”, strengthening their connection to nature, and building their confidence and connection to themselves and each other. Different Drummer Farm

The picturesque New England farm in Candia, NH is situated on 15 acres with a 15 stall barn, 2 outdoor riding rings and numerous paddocks and pastures.Offering pony camp and fun add-ons including art on the farm.  More registration details coming soon.

Great Bay Reserve

The Great Bay Discovery Center hosts a variety of programs for the general public throughout the year. Each is designed to help you and your family discover the unique natural and cultural resources of the Great Bay Estuary. Stay tuned for summer offerings on their website. 

Gundalow Company- River Rats

Gundalow Company offers a variety of camp experiences to get kids on and around the water.  These programs are run aboard the gundalow PISCATAQUA, at our land base at  Creek Farm owned by the Society for the Protection of NH Forest, and at our other partner organizations.  These programs offer the best of summer in the Piscataqua Maritime Region! 2024 Summer Camp registration opens January 8th @ 12pm for members/paid early access. Opens January 15th @12pm for general public!

NHSPCA Day Camp

We offer 3 different camps to ensure customized levels of learning and interaction with animals for all ages. Offering programs in Stratham NH for ages 6-15. Registration opens in April.

Northern Wilderness Journey

Located in Durham, NH on a 40 acre campus, these programs serve kids ages 7-14 (with some family day options) and are designed to ignite curiosity and remind us that we are all part of the natural world. Specializing in low-tech outdoor living, nature study and wilderness travel skills. Registration now open.

Seacoast Science Center

Offering a wide variety of environmental camps at their Rye NH location, Odiorne Point. Serving kids ages 4 to 18. Registration opens January 15 for members; February 1 for non-members.

Seacoast Waldorf School

We provide 6 week-long sessions that run from mid-June through the end of July. Our summer camps feature wholesome, age-appropriate activities in a natural setting. Seven Rivers Paddling & Wilderness Camps

Offering a variety of camps — from SUP to Adventure Paddle, this outdoor camp serves kids ages 6-15 at various locations around the Seacoast area.  Registration now open. 

Located in Barrington, this forest program gets kids immersed outdoors. At the heart of TimberNook programming is the philosophy that children flourish when given the time and space to play in sensory-rich, experiential learning environments. Bringing exploration and nature together results in a truly unique way to reach children at a key point in their development. Registration details available in February. 

Village Nest Cooperative

Join us for a summer filled with exploration, innovation, and imagination.  Your Child will explore 22 acres of pristine Great Works Land Trust property at the Douglas Woods Preserve in Eliot, ME. Whether your children are frog hunters, entomologists, artists, or just love being dirty this program is for them! We aim to provide a safe camp experience that encourages children grades K-2 and 3-6 to take risks, child-led, play that inspires children to be critical thinkers that appreciate the natural world.  Registration details available mid February. 

White Pine Programs

Together with their experienced White Pine mentors, they will spend the day storytelling, playing games, doing sit spots, mapping the landscape, journaling, learning survival skills, and wandering throughout the fields and forests.  Camps run from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday, for 6 individual weeks and will be located at Coastal Ridge Elementary School in York, Maine. BEAM Fitness Summer Camps

Located in Stratham, BEAM’s active and fun summer camps include indoor and outdoor sports. So much Fitness Fun for ages 2-12 (10-12 year olds are CITs). Camp WaKlo Equestrian Camp

Kittery Point Yacht Club Sailing School

The Seacoast Sailing School provides instruction in small boats to junior and adult sailors. The school has been operating for many years and its graduates have gone on to cruise and race many of the larger boats in the KPYC fleet. Beginning with age 8. Registration now open.

Little Brook Horse Farm

Metrorock Newburyport Climbing Camps

MetroRock offers a variety of youth camps throughout the year. During the school year, there are break camps that follow the public school calendar. During the summer we host indoor and outdoor summer camps with professional climbing instructors. Our camp programming provides a mix of climbing, games, and adventure elements on our climbing walls. NHAGS Gymnastics

New Hampshire Academy of Artistic Gymnastics offers USAG Competitive Team gymnastics, Levels 4 through Elite, as well as Xcel pre-competitive programs, Pre-school (little nhaags), Recreational classes, Cheer tumbling and private lessons. Nike Basketball Camps at Sports Barn

Join Coach Chris Coates with ASA Hoops and hone in on your basketball game at this Hampton summer 2022 basketball camp for boys and girls. Work in a small group setting with players of similar skill level on drills, techniques, and game play situations to improve your footwork, shooting technique, team skills, and more. Rim Sports Camps

The Rim’s Sports Camp is very popular. We set up teams by grades for the week and do multiple sport competitions each day. Teams will get points based on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and also get individual points. The teams with the highest points at the end of the week will win prizes along with individual prizes. Summer Sessions Surf Camp

Kid’s Camp is Back!  After missing last season, we are happy to announce that camp is back on!  We have, however, limited numbers from 35 to 15 students to ensure safety and distancing.  We couldn’t be more excited to get everyone back in the water!  Registration is June 1st.

UNH Sailing/Paddling/Kayaking Camps

he UNH Community Sailing Centre (UNHCSC) offers an affordable sailing program for students ages 5-18 of any sailing ability, and also offers classes in kayaking and stand up paddleboarding. Classes focus on different skill levels and are offered weekly for 7 weeks. Classes are held at Mendums Pond in Barrington, NH. Students can enroll in any number of weeks. Highmeadows Farms Horseback Riding Camp

Located in Wolfeboro, NH, weekly camp sessions run Monday – Friday from 9:30 – 3:30 from June through August. Each week at our horseback riding summer day camp in New Hampshire focuses around a theme. We have designed a program consisting of five Levels in which the campers learn about proper horsemanship and develop their riding skills while they also study horse terminology, history, first aid and more! Multi-Activity Day Camps

Located in Brentwood, Action Kids Summer Camp empowers kids to develop their self-esteem, confidence, creativity and independence through fun and adventure. Offering a variety of camps for kids as young as 4. Choose from a wide array of options including a BASE Camp where each week will have a different theme that your child will explore and become an “expert” about.  This camp incorporates inside and outside time playing and exploring, using the Berwick Academy campus as an adventure map for discovery! Camp Seawood Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains

Camp Seawood welcomes girls who have completed pre-K through grade 8 with one-week programs. Girls who have completed 4 th  grade and up can participate in two-week programs that include an overnight. Girls can be dropped off at 9:00 and picked up by 5:00 or ride the bus from a location close to them.  Registration now open.

Kaleidoscope Summer Programs at PCA

Harris Family Center at Philips Exeter

The Harris Family Children’s Center will be offering summer camp opportunities to all children ages 5-8 years old for the Summer of 2022, beginning date TBD.  Our camp will offer an array of experiences in music, art, drama, science and sports for children from PEA as well as the surrounding community. Summer Rangers camps bring themes that engage kids in the magic of imagination, strength of entrepreneurial skills, secrets of geology and joy of cooking, led by an exceptional team of seasoned leaders and CITs. Registration opens January 18th at 7am.

Rising Hawk

Camp Rising Hawk is nestled on the back forty of Live & Learn Early Learning Center. All of Rising Hawk’s facilities are designed to engage youth in the outdoors while being developmentally appropriate. All of the centers are child-driven. Campers even helped build the tree house. Strawbery Banke

Camps offered in Portsmouth for ages 6-17. Choose from Roleplaying Camps to Hands On History Camps — including an offering with the Gundalow Company.  Registration for members begins on Jan 9th for members. Open to all Jan. 15th.

The Works Summer Camp believes summer is about having fun, making meaningful connections, and building memories that bring smiles for a lifetime. Children should come home from camp happy, tired, full of silly stories, and experiences that are priceless. We incorporate gardening, orienteering, treehouse, low ropes course, swimming (aquatic center with slide!), so many sports, and outdoor adventure. There are few unique environments as special as camp, where kids become part of a community and form friendships as they learn both how to be more independent and how to contribute to a group as they engage in physical, social, and educational activities every day. We are already in the midst of planning our next session of Tech Camp, which will take place from July 11-29. At this time, we are planning to hold all programs in-person on the UNH Durham campus, adhering to all necessary safety protocols related to COVID-19. Dance Innovations

Together with their experienced White Pine mentors, they will spend the day storytelling, playing games, doing sit spots, mapping the landscape, journaling, learning survival skills, and wandering throughout the fields and forests.  Camps run from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday, for 6 individual weeks and will be located at Coastal Ridge Elementary School in York, Maine. Kittery Point Yacht Club offers sailing school

NEW CASTLE — The Kittery Point Yacht Club Sailing School is celebrating its 28th year providing sailing lessons to the Seacoast community.

Some of the school’s students have participated in area racing regattas with much success and school officials said they have upgraded their older fleets with larger, more accommodating boats. The school has also teamed up with Portsmouth High School in its new sailing program by providing boats to its students in the spring practice sessions.

KPYC's 2017 summer season starts 2-week sessions June 19 and concludes Aug. 10. The school has reinstituted the adult classes that start at 5:30 p.m. and continue to dusk. It has also aligned with an Internet service that manages registrations, schedules and online billing services at no cost to the student.

To apply, visit kpyc.net, select the sailing school application, pick your dates and it will let you know if it is available. Applicants can pay online with no additional charge. The Kittery Point Yacht Club is at 328 Portsmouth Ave. in New Castle. For more information, email [email protected] .

Experienced european owners brought together a top team of Dubois, Fitzroy and Tessier to produce their dream yacht: sleek, sophisticated and impressive under sail.

The push for a single level between bridge, saloon and cockpit, combined with ultra-sleek aesthetics, nudged the Dubois design team into new territory. “To get good visibility from the helmstations we had to work hard to lower the accommodation as much as possible, while keeping an open feeling” adds McKeon.

The interior, styled and drawn by Remi Tessier , features a combination of bleached timbers and white leather which results in clean modern lines and provides bright comfortable living areas.

Fitzroy Yachts Zefira

The sea trial was pubblished on Superyacht 31 – spring 2012

Zefira S/Y is one of those few yachts that became an attraction for yacht enthusiasts and professionals  well before she hit the water.

This yacht was designed and built with the experience and passion for sailing boats her owners demonstrated from the start as well as a naval engineering and a project design team from  Ed Dubois studio for the exterior, while Remi Tessier was responsible for all the interiors. Zefira was built in a yard which enjoys a  worldwide  reputation for the construction of large sailing yachts.

With such an opening introduction one can expect nothing less than something absolutely extraordinary, where the term used must be read in its best meaning to underscore something that has really nothing of the ordinary. We had the pleasure of talking with the owners who are currently sailing on their yacht after they had  carried out important work in the design phase with the project team to define specific guidelines and details.

Beyond the highly involving dialogue which ensued with flowing examples  of their own sailing experience and passion, we managed to grasp and better understand the idea behind the project which began with a seven metre sloop and  gradually developed in the course of the following 40 years  of which  many were spent at  sea. Putting words to emotion and feelings is never easy to do and  more so when they are other people’s. In this case however everything was a lot easier for us   thanks to our interviewee’s eloquent communicative capability.

The first point our attention was brought to was that Zefira is the largest sailing y

acht ever designed by Dubois with no fly bridge and built by Fitzroy Yachts in New Zealand.  This may strike our readers as a mere detail, but it is in fact one of the principal fundamentals outlining this project because it translates into flowing external lines and a unique profile when observed sideways on.

The choice  of doing without a fly bridge is somewhat unusual since up until  recently a “fly” had been widely accepted as  a run of the mill thing to have on a sailing yacht beyond a given size, but which nevertheless, Zefira is proud to do without giving cause for, among others ,  the following comment volunteered by some of the designers not involved in the project: “The world of sailing now stands  divided between before Zefira and after Zefira”.

Naturally enough this comment in particular is aimed at the yachts’ profile, which brings to a standstill what had become a consolidated practice on yachts this size. Aesthetics is principally  why the owners decided to do without the fly option as well as for practical reasons  they eloquently highlighted: without one  on a  50 metre sailing boat  there’s a complete total view of both what lies ahead up to the horizon and of the sail plan.

Moreover using a higher windswept and sun scorched horizontal plane rather than the main deck itself is by its very nature something destined to be exploited only sporadically and quite correctly in their opinion doesn’t justify having one.

The thought behind the whole project as the requests submitted to both designers and yard indicated,  were to enjoy a pure thorough bred for its performing lines and technical contents, capable of offering the sort of space and commodities expected when cruising extensively in all weather conditions. At a first glance the goal seems to have been easily achieved, but if  we then go into an in-depth analysis, the comments volunteered by project designers earlier seems surely appropriate. The husband and wife team (the owners) followed up on construction work from the initial stages to completion, working through the more important phases in close contact with the professional teams involved.

According to the owners the best part was witnessing the step by step progress of such an enterprise. We can understand the reasons why and genuinely  hope that in  the future such desire will generate the construction of other such extraordinary ships.

Several International prizes for design and technical contents have been awarded to Zefira. Dubois Naval Architects’ studio is proud of the recognitions bestowed since this is the largest sailing yacht project without a “fly” they’ve ever made so far and also for the passion and creativity expressed time and time again by the owners who incidentally had been the previous owners of another Dubois  project built by Alloy Yachts: Kokomo of London (now Nubero Blau). The challenge taken on by the studio was one that meant blending the huge experience acquired by the owners to innovative aesthetics, with a hull capable of delivering the sea-keeping qualities and performance requested.

The owners wished for a boat that could be another home from home: spacious, with a project design that looked ahead into the future. For this reason the design team was invited by the owners to pay them a visit and to take a look at their house to better understand what they wanted.

The choice of the yard was principally dictated by delivery times even if Fitzroy Yachts had been chosen also in function of preceding work carried out from Dubois projects.

Among some of the clever solutions highlighted by the owners in the course of our conversation we wish to mention the ease in steering they experienced and handling the yacht, of course aided by electronics and important data communication systems capable of monitoring and performing many of the required manoeuvres without hindering visibility.

The rig which is capable of carrying up to 3,000 square metres of canvass is per se a very interesting technical achievement inasmuch as it sports a 63.50 metre mast and can still be defined as being “light”. Obviously there’s a carbon fibre mast and boom, as well as fibre stays that have been purposely chosen to reduce weight high above the waterline which translates into less draught and better performance in breezes.

All of the choices adopted for Zefira mean she is very competitive on the race track even against racers and  in spite of the many commodities she carries with her.  As for the interiors and  much of the work put in by  Remi Tessier designer and the co-owner they enhanced an undoubted feeling of both tranquillity and elegance.

Gauged chromatic variety  meets the discerning eye as it takes in lighter and darker shades of handcrafted woodwork placed without ever causing excessive contrast, followed by polished steel elements and ad hoc lighting which enhances relaxation throughout every area. The space chosen to house each piece of furniture, is fruit of  careful study that has contributed into ensuring an uncompromised degree of comfort in the owners’ suite which is situated in the stern and in each of the three guest cabins as well.

One is a twin while the other two are double each one of them sports its own private bathroom. The crew quarters are situated in the bow area and with space for a lounge and crew mess room, which translates into staff’s quality living standards on board. The yacht’s convivial areas are also well distributed and large to ensure adequate privacy to guests and owners alike.

The electronics and navigation aids installed are the most modern on the market, with data and alarm control systems and displays in each of the two external command /control stations  as well as on the bridge deck as can be expected on a state of the art ship such as this. Dictated by reasons of space we have to limit our text to that which has so far been described even when the meeting with Zefira’s owners was so stimulating  we were prompted  to go further.

Since both of them  described Zefira as being a point of arrival but of departure too, we wish them to continue their research work in the yachting field and to offer us, who knows what other input and ideas in the future. For further information please contact: Angelo Colombo

Ma solo in pochi sono riusciti ad accorgersi della sua presenza in porto, che è durata giusto una mattinata . “ Zefira ”, imbarcazione di 50 metri vincitrice dei prestigiosi riconoscimenti internazionali “Show boats Design Award 2011” e di “World Superyacht Awards 2011” come miglior yacht a vela del mondo per il 2011, è rimasta attraccata presso la banchina Bengasi del molo Cortese di Vibo Marina per poche ore, impegnata in attività di bunkeraggio. Costruita in Nuova Zelanda nei cantieri Fitzroy, ha uno scafo in alluminio e una trave con un raggio di quasi dieci metri. Gli interni sono stati disegnati da Remi Tessier e possono ospitare otto ospiti in quattro cabine. Club Rental Policy

1. Basic Information

Club members may rent the Club for private functions on a first come, first served basis after October 15th and before May 1st. No rentals are permitted from May 1st through October 15th. Any member who rents the Club must be present at the event. Members must make arrangements to rent the Club if they want to have exclusive use of the Clubhouse or if they plan to decorate the Clubhouse.

2. Requesting A Reservation

Complete the Club Rental Reservation form.

3. Reservations Posted On Club Website

Once your date is confirmed, your reservation will be posted on the KYPC website calendar. The website calendar will generally be the most up-to-date record of Club reservations.; The calendar on the bulletin board at the Club will also be maintained on a best effort basis.

4. Member Responsibilities

During an event, post a sign on the front door to alert all members “Private Member Event Underway”. Members who rent the Club are responsible for being familiar with and following House Rules and the Information for Rentals of the KPYC Clubhouse . You may not use the Club’s beverage refrigerator during your event, so please plan accordingly. Your Deposit check will be destroyed once it has been determined that you have complied with these policies and there are no damages.

5. Cancellations

If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason, please notify the Bookkeeper immediately. Any payments will be refunded, and the date will be freed up for use by another member.

6. Questions

Please direct any questions or suggestions regarding the Club Rental policies and procedures to the House Chair.

VIVA Yacht – Incredible $175 Million Superyacht

VIVA yacht is a masterpiece built by the renowned Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects , a Netherlands-based yacht designer, in their Kaag shipyard.

She was built in 2021 and is considered one of the largest motor yachts in the world that can accommodate up to 14 guests in luxurious comfort and 18 crew for excellent service. 

This majestic 308-foot superyacht is considered to be the first in a line of future luxury yachts that also focus on significantly reducing its carbon footprint by running on diesel-electric power.

According to the AIS data , she is currently sailing under the flag of the Cayman Islands.

VIVA yacht interior

The VIVA yacht is a luxury yacht with an emphasis on environmentalism. Her design was penned by Peter Marino featuring “great edifices” of glass, including floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for natural light and ventilation throughout the interior spaces.

Marino’s theme for this superyacht is an open beach house style with a touch of minimalism clearly shown in the design’s abundance of clean lines. 

She boasts of a movie theatre, beauty salon, underwater lights, elevator, beach club, gym, and air conditioning for the guests’ enjoyment.

She features an exterior design by Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture with an aluminum superstructure and teak decks for a classic look.

The superyacht’s exterior is created with a modern, minimalistic design in a special pearl-white livery.

Her hull is built to be as efficient as possible, reducing the engine power required to sail through the waters.

Additionally, she features the largest tender and the longest hull doors ever seen on a Feadship.

VIVA Yacht specifications

The VIVA yacht is a stunning 94-meter-long luxury yacht with an incredible 13.6m beam and a volume of 2999 gross tonnage, making it one of the largest yachts in its class.

Her water tanks can store around 71,000 liters of fresh water that the guests can use. 

The yacht is powered by twin MTU engines with a maximum speed of 20 knots, a cruising speed of 12 knots, and a range that extends over 5k nautical miles. She is also equipped with at-anchor stabilizers to provide exceptional comfort levels. 

She is hailed as the most environmentally-friendly luxury vessel of its kind because of her eco-friendly waste treatment plant and heat recovery systems on board. 

She has been installed with an exceptionally advanced hybrid propulsion system to keep the environmental impact at around the same levels as his previous Feadship, despite that being 32 meters shorter in length.

Her price is $175 million and her annual running cost is at around US$ 17.5 million yearly. She is currently not believed to be for sale nor available for private charter.

As a private yacht, little is known about her owner who is a billionaire and features his initials on the helicopter register N702FF.

VIVA: The $250 Million Superyacht Of UFC Owner Frank Fertitta III

From his current position as CEO of Station Casinos to how he – alongside brother Lorenzo and childhood friend Dana White – transformed the UFC into a multi-billion-dollar promotion , there’s virtually endless information about how Frank Fertitta III made his fortune. How he chooses to spend said fortune, however, is a little more mysterious (at least for the fun stuff). One such indulgence we know the elder Fertitta brother has treated himself to is the ultra-luxurious Feadship-built superyacht known as Viva, which comes with an eye-watering price tag of US$175 million / AU$252 million.

Conceptualised by Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture in collaboration with De Voogt Naval Architects, while also showcasing interiors accomplished by Peter Marino, Viva was only completed in the Netherlands last year and delivered shortly thereafter.

Back to the matter of Viva, it boasts an overall length of 308 feet / 94 metres with a 13.6-metre beam and gross tonnage of 2,999 – making it the 85th largest superyacht in the entire world; seventh largest ever constructed by Feadship – and can comfortably accommodate 14 guests across seven cabins alongside a capable crew of 18.

Viva has been called the “most environmentally-friendly luxury vessel of its kind” due to it featuring a hybrid propulsion system that allows the boat to cruise using diesel-electric power, as well as a waste treatment plant and heat recovering systems.

The 308-foot superyacht Viva was moored off Nantucket earlier this week, just outside the jetties, as the massive vessel was too large to navigate into the harbor. It departed for Martha's Vineyard Wednesday night.

The $175 million Viva, which was built by Feadship in the Netherlands and completed just last year, features its own helicopter which has been spotted circling around the island this week. It is the 85th largest superyacht in the world, and is believed to be owned by billionaire Frank Fertitta III , the CEO of Station Casinos in Las Vegas and founder of Zuffa LLC, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

The yacht’s helicopter sports the tail number N702FF, which was believed to have been chosen for Fertitta’s initials.

"That's definitely one of the biggest vessels I've seen around Nantucket in my 20 years here," Harbormaster Sheila Lucey said on Wednesday.

The yacht has been called the “most environmental-friendly luxury vessel of its kind” as it features a hybrid propulsion system that allows the boat to travel at 12 knots under diesel-electric power, as well as a waste treatment plant and heat recovering systems on board. Its annual running costs are reported to be in excess of $17.5 million .

Viva has a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure. Among its many amenities are a cinema, a beauty salon, a gym, and, of course, a helipad on the upper deck.

Following its construction in the Dutch shipyard, the massive yacht had to squeeze through narrow canals to make it out to sea, as documented in these photos shared by CNN last year.

Dmitry Korchak (born February 19, 1979 in Elektrostal/Moscow Oblast) is a Russian tenor and conductor.

Korchak received his musical education at the Moscow Choral Academy. In 2004 he won prizes at the “Francisco Viñas” International Singing Competition in Barcelona and at the Plácido Domingo Operalia International Competition in Los Angeles.

As a singer he has appeared at La Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera, the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden, the Paris Opera Bastille, London’s Covent Garden and New York’s Carnegie Hall. He has collaborated with artists such as Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly, Plácido Domingo, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta and Kent Nagano.

From 2017 to 2020, Dmitry Korchak was Principal Guest Conductor at the Novosibirsk Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, where he directed his own festival, and Guest Conductor at the Mikhailovsky Theater in Saint Petersburg.

Korchak has made several guest appearances at the Kissinger Sommer, the Salzburg Festival and the Rossini Festival in Pesaro, where he also worked as a conductor. Korchak also worked with the Bavarian Radio Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, among others.

Why were so many metro stations in Moscow renamed?

The Moscow metro system has 275 stations, and 28 of them have been renamed at some point or other—and several times in some cases. Most of these are the oldest stations, which opened in 1935.

The politics of place names

The first station to change its name was Ulitsa Kominterna (Comintern Street). The Comintern was an international communist organization that ceased to exist in 1943, and after the war Moscow authorities decided to call the street named after it something else. In 1946, the station was renamed Kalininskaya. Then for several days in 1990, the station was called Vozdvizhenka, before eventually settling on Aleksandrovsky Sad, which is what it is called today.

Until 1957, Kropotkinskaya station was called Dvorets Sovetov ( Palace of Soviets ). There were plans to build a monumental Stalinist high-rise on the site of the nearby Cathedral of Christ the Saviour , which had been demolished. However, the project never got off the ground, and after Stalin's death the station was named after Kropotkinskaya Street, which passes above it.

Of course, politics was the main reason for changing station names. Initially, the Moscow Metro itself was named after Lazar Kaganovich, Joseph Stalin’s right-hand man. Kaganovich supervised the construction of the first metro line and was in charge of drawing up a master plan for reconstructing Moscow as the "capital of the proletariat."

In 1955, under Nikita Khrushchev's rule and during the denunciation of Stalin's personality cult, the Moscow Metro was named in honor of Vladimir Lenin.

New Metro stations that have been opened since the collapse of the Soviet Union simply say "Moscow Metro," although the metro's affiliation with Vladimir Lenin has never officially been dropped.

Zyablikovo station. On the entrance, there are no more signs that the metro is named after Lenin.

Stations that bore the names of Stalin's associates were also renamed under Khrushchev. Additionally, some stations were named after a neighborhood or street and if these underwent name changes, the stations themselves had to be renamed as well.

Until 1961 the Moscow Metro had a Stalinskaya station that was adorned by a five-meter statue of the supreme leader. It is now called Semyonovskaya station.

The biggest wholesale renaming of stations took place in 1990, when Moscow’s government decided to get rid of Soviet names. Overnight, 11 metro stations named after revolutionaries were given new names. Shcherbakovskaya became Alekseyevskaya, Gorkovskaya became Tverskaya, Ploshchad Nogina became Kitay-Gorod and Kirovskaya turned into Chistye Prudy. This seriously confused passengers, to put it mildly, and some older Muscovites still call Lubyanka station Dzerzhinskaya for old times' sake.

At the same time, certain stations have held onto their Soviet names. Marksistskaya and Kropotkinskaya, for instance, although there were plans to rename them too at one point.

"I still sometimes mix up Teatralnaya and Tverskaya stations,” one Moscow resident recalls .

 “Both have been renamed and both start with a ‘T.’ Vykhino still grates on the ear and, when in 1991 on the last day of my final year at school, we went to Kitay-Gorod to go on the river cruise boats, my classmates couldn’t believe that a station with that name existed."

The city government submitted a station name change for public discussion for the first time in 2015. The station in question was Voykovskaya, whose name derives from the revolutionary figure Pyotr Voykov. In the end, city residents voted against the name change, evidently not out of any affection for Voykov personally, but mainly because that was the name they were used to.

What stations changed their name most frequently?

Some stations have changed names three times. Apart from the above-mentioned Aleksandrovsky Sad (Ulitsa Kominterna->Kalininskaya->Vozdvizhenka->Aleksandrovsky Sad), a similar fate befell Partizanskaya station in the east of Moscow. Opened in 1944, it initially bore the ridiculously long name Izmaylovsky PKiO im. Stalina (Izmaylovsky Park of Culture and Rest Named After Stalin). In 1947, the station was renamed and simplified for convenience to Izmaylovskaya. Then in 1963 it was renamed yet again—this time to Izmaylovsky Park, having "donated" its previous name to the next station on the line. And in 2005 it was rechristened Partizanskaya to mark the 60th anniversary of victory in World War II.

Another interesting story involves Alekseyevskaya metro station. This name was originally proposed for the station, which opened in 1958, since a village with this name had been located here. It was then decided to call the station Shcherbakovskaya in honor of Aleksandr Shcherbakov, a politician who had been an associate of Stalin. Nikita Khrushchev had strained relations with Shcherbakov, however, and when he got word of it literally a few days before the station opening the builders had to hastily change all the signs. It ended up with the concise and politically correct name of Mir (Peace).

The name Shcherbakovskaya was restored in 1966 after Khrushchev's fall from power. It then became Alekseyevskaya in 1990.

But the station that holds the record for the most name changes is Okhotny Ryad, which opened in 1935 on the site of a cluster of market shops. When the metro system was renamed in honor of Lenin in 1955, this station was renamed after Kaganovich by way of compensation. The name lasted just two years though because in 1957 Kaganovich fell out of favor with Khrushchev, and the previous name was returned. But in 1961 it was rechristened yet again, this time in honor of Prospekt Marksa, which had just been built nearby.

In 1990, two historical street names—Teatralny Proyezd and Mokhovaya Street—were revived to replace Prospekt Marksa, and the station once again became Okhotny Ryad.
