I know many clubs, not all sailing clubs, who have a member and non-member price. Needless to say the ones that have differential pricing only get visited once; unless a member buys the drinks at the bar.
My club has two prices, but one for normal club use including visitors, and the other for when the club is hired out for functions.
Not sure why you think you should pay the same price as members whose subscriptions subsidise their prices, nor why you think the club should care if you don't return if the only reason you are there is to take advantage of cheaper prices.
Our club has a membership card which you can pre-load with money to be spent in the club. The fact that the club has the money in advance plus the £400 annual membership gives members a 10% reduction on bar bills when paid by club membership card. As these payments cover the running costs of the bar its understandable why the drinks could be less. If you want to take advantage of the members contributions then perhaps you are the sort that would not be welcome. Likewise there are many that don't want to join any sailing club often to save money yet happy to advantage of facilities that others have paid for. No one objects to visiting yachtsmen from other sailing clubs.
Is the OP a member of any club though? Surely the point of reciprocal membership and pricing is that it's swings and roundabouts. For every visiting yachtsperson in your club drinking beer at a price that you have subsidised, one of your members is in another club drinking the beer subsidised by that club's members?

Not a member but want to complain about how a club is run? My club has a similar system and I think it's a good way of benefitting members and preventing non members taking advantage of those benefits - sounds like it has worked in your case...

I usually visit other clubs - if ' arriving by water ' so as to use the showers and maybe meal facilities, even I with my half Scottish ancestry hadn't thought about cut-price beer ! I've always found Salcombe YC very friendly.

Perhaps they don't want the additional turnover? Many years ago I attended a dinner dance at a non sailing club, a total of 150 people with about 50 members of the club, where we found that the members got "bar discount". The following year they lost the event and several thousand pounds in turnover. Their business, their choice.

Our club has a card scheme which members can load with cash to pay for bar drinks and food. This helps the bar staff enormously as it is far quicker than handling cash and change or normal card trasactions with PINs, it also serves to identify members so visitors can be asked - if the staff remember - "have you signed the visitors book?". Using the card also gives members a small discount off the standard bar prices, if members don't bother to use the card they pay the full price, the discount is chiefly to encourage use of the cards. From the club finances perspective the cards help as there is a balance in the club account from all the cash on members' cards and as you have to top up either with actual cash or using a debit card there is a big reduction in credit card fees.

Island Cruising Club of Salcombe, Devon
Prospective new members, new members, all are welcome to join....and you don’t need to own a boat.
The Island Cruising Club was formed with the objective of providing a sailing opportunity for people who don’t own a boat. We encourage members to sail the keelboat fleet (see below) by themselves during weekdays and weekends, and to participate in club sailing and races at weekends. We will have regular social events and training onboard our clubhouse ship, Egremont , moored in Salcombe harbour.
The Island Cruising Club was formed in 1951 in Salcombe, Devon, by John Baylay. He was joined in the early days by his wife and a small group of friends who funded and organised the acquisition and usage of a fleet of classic yachts. The membership of the club grew to a maximum of around 1,500 sailors in the 1980’s and required the establishment of a dinghy training facility to teach basic sailing skills. The current clubhouse is Egremont , a former Mersey ferry, which has been converted to provide accommodation and refreshments for members and students. In 2011, the Club decided to separate the running and upkeep of Egremont , the dinghy training facility, and the members’ club into three distinct entities.
Read “Our Island Story” The first 30 years of the ICC
The Island Cruising Club operates a fleet of keelboats which comprise 6 Squibs and 2 Solings. These boats are moored in Salcombe harbour, close to Egremont , and are fully equipped and rigged. They provide the opportunity to sail in the sheltered waters of Salcombe estuary between Kingsbridge and the harbour entrance. Qualified sailors may also sail in “The Range”, outside the harbour.
In addition, a group of members own Island Spirit , a 37’ Delphia yacht, which is available for members’ sailing and for training courses.
The Club also owns two large passenger launches, “ Shamrock ” and “ Duncan ”, which are used to ferry members between the shore and Egremont , and a RIB which is used as a safety boat for any sailing outside the harbour. These boats are also intended to be used for excursions by members, or for individual use by members.
The main activity of the Club is day sailing of keelboats in Salcombe harbour, or out in The Range, either individually, or in organised races (which will be held on Saturday afternoons in summer). Cruises and training for RYA examinations will also be organised on Island Spirit during the season. The clubhouse and bar on board Egremont will be open on Saturday afternoons between 1700 and 1930 in summer. Members’ evenings with food will also be organised during the sailing season. Click for Forthcoming Events .
Everyone who sails with the Club has to be a member, but membership is inexpensive and open to all, with no references required. Once a member you become a joint owner of the Club's own sailing fleet, the launches, and a way of life.
Members can either join individually, as couples, or as a family. Reduced rates are applicable to junior members.
Fees for membership and daily sailing fees are set out in detail here
If you have any queries regarding membership, please contact the Membership Secretary

New members of the Island Cruising Club will be joining an organisation with a long and proud history. They will have the opportunity to sail, at a very reasonable cost, with like- minded individuals of all levels of experience. The social side of sailing will be available on board an historic vessel, moored in a pristine location in the heart of the beautiful South Hams. Members will be able to learn, and to pass on their skills to other members, and to enjoy competitive racing amongst friends on “class” boats.
Membership of the Island Cruising Club gives the opportunity to access many other Yacht Clubs around the country and worldwide, and to meet fellow sailors. Members living in locations outside South Devon are encouraged to form groups to meet and socialise during the year.

River Cruise on Luxurious Radisson Boat
- Description
- Choose date
Equipped with ice-breaking technology, these huge fancy yachts are the only river cruisers running all year around. The round trip journey takes two and a half hours and floats past all the big sights like the White House, Novodevichy monastery and the Kremlin. There’s a large open air observation deck up top, while the main body of the ship houses a restaurant with a dance floor for a romantic post dinner dance. For a particularly romantic experience take one of the evening boats and admire the bright lights of the city skyline at night.
The most relaxing and picturesque tour that Moscow can offer: a great way to see the city center and its main attractions. This is a perfect alternative to exploring the city by car, if you only have time to do sightseeing during weekday rush hours.
Your English-speaking guide is eager to share every bit of their knowledge about the surrounding landscape, the architecture and historical details.
We conduct Moscow river tour on Radisson Flotilla boats all year around! It’s warm inside during winter months, while there’s air conditioning during hot summer days. You may also treat yourself to drinks, lunch or dinner on board (drinks and food are not included in tour price).

Pleasantly surprised, service is good so is the food. Great selection of Fusion food, a mixture of Italian, Japanese, European, Asian etc. A pleasantly nice dining experience, highly recommended, a must try!
Thank you for your feedback and invite you to have lunch or dinner again aboard the ship in an atmosphere of high standards of yacht hospitality.
everything was perfect - the food, the service, the desserts were the best, nice atmosphere and the location - magical
Best food, best view in Moscow. absolutely faultless from arrival to finish. Best risotto i had for many years absolutely perfectly cooked. The view on Ukrainian hotel and the white house by night is amazing
Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Food is very expensive, very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More
This is a very good restaurant. The food is really good, maybe the best in Moscow. The service is also good. The view from the restaurant is great. The prices are very high.
I often visit this restaurant and must say it’s one of the best in Moscow in terms of quality and service. Staff really try hard to make sure that you are happy and satisfied. Customer service is a huge problem in Moscow but Chaika sets... a great example for others in the industry! Food is delicious and the menu has lots of options for everyone! Atmosphere is great and view is beautiful on the embankment. Special thanks to German & Oleg! More
Thank you for your feedback! Again aboard the yacht restaurant "Chaika" in accordance with the high standards of yacht hospitality.
Highly recommended, great location in the city center of Moscow with a superb atmosphere. Too many menu choices, though all delicious!
Thx a lot for your review! We are looking forward to see you in our restaurants.
Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More
Good afternoon! Thank you for your detailed feedback! We are looking forward to seeing you again, we are sure that you will be delighted with our dishes!
I've been here several times during two business trip in Moscow. The overall quality for both service and food is absolutely top-notch, plus the location is very unique.

Good location. Nice views. Good choice of food and drinks. European and Asian menu. Nice service. Pricey enough.
Had a large group dinner here. Food was above average and service quite good. The real attraction is the view of Moscow from the river on a nice night. Great place for a larger group dinner. More
