Mallorca Cycling Tours Events
The Canary Islands have a pretty stable all year round climate, so despite Mallorca being warmer than Northern Europe, it's still relatively a bit cool and can be quite wet until you get past mid March. For this reason we decided in 2023 that we should resume Canary Island Events during Feb/March and in November. What can you expect? Warm temperatures - mid 20's and minimal rain Good roads, not as smooth as Mallorca but good enough and way better than the UK! Lot's of climbing as there isn't too much flat Availability of rental bikes Less than 30 mins from the airport to the resort, Maspalomas Guided Rides Time to cycle, time to enjoy the sun, the beach and lots of Restaurants
Gran Canaria Feb 2023 - Zuzanas Blog Gran Canaria Nov 2023 – Marks Blog

This event has been introduced by popular demand! We visited Provence in July 2023, spent 4 days in Bedoin and checked out the area, as well as ascending Mont Ventoux up each of the 3 well surfaced roads. Super challenging, it's tough, but extremely rewarding! We don't have the exact dates for 2024 yet as we are hoping to include some TDF stages if possible, so once that route is announced, the dates will be solidified.

An (unbiased) comparison of 9 top Mallorca cycling holiday/tour companies
So, you’re planning a Mallorca cycling holiday. You’ve found our host of guides to cycling in Mallorca , our GPX routes, our suggestions for where to stay.
You know you could follow them and have a great time.
But a little bit of you (or perhaps a lot) wants more support. Perhaps you’re short of time and want someone to take the hassle out of booking everything. Perhaps you want someone who can flex our routes to make them longer or shorter, or more hilly or include more coffee stops. Perhaps you want someone to offer a bit of coaching, a support vehicle, some moral support and camaraderie.
So you start to look at cycling holiday Mallorca tour options.
And it’s a nightmare! There are so many options! Which to choose?!
That’s how we felt.
So we wrote this article.
We’ve taken nine of the best known Mallorca cycling holiday tour operators and here we compare what they offer. The idea is that it lets us all see in one article the differences between each company.
We hope you find this comparison of Mallorca bike tour operators useful, and go on to have the best Mallorca cycling holidays! Let us know in the comments below!
This article includes details of services that we have used ourselves or which we would consider using. Some are paid adverts. Please read our disclosure policy for further information.
This article is based on information on each operator’s website. We were surprised how little detail was generally available (and it’s possible we missed something when preparing this article or the situation has changed since we wrote it), so please be aware that the information here is not 100% accurate. Please don’t rely on it and check direct with the operator(s).
The prices usually assume two people occupying a room. If you want single occupancy, expect to pay more. Also carefully check the trip inclusions – we’ve just summarised the situation below and the inclusions may well vary for each trip.
In November 2021 we created this article on the hidden climbs of Mallorca and this article on the best routes in Mallorca with SunVelo. They have not paid to feature in this article.

Our tips for choosing a Mallorca bike tour operator
It can be tricky to get what you want out of a Mallorca cycling holiday if you’ve never been there, so that’s why we recommend using a reputable cycling tour company. But how do you know which bike tours are best? We’ve put together a few tips below, but for a more in-depth guide make sure you read our article on choosing the best bike tour companies .
1. Check the reviews
There are plenty of cycling tour in Mallorca reviews online, make sure you read them before booking a tour operator. Make sure they’re from independent or verified guests as well. You could sink a lot of money into one of these cycling holidays in Mallorca, so do your research before booking. Also try looking up Majorca cycling holidays and reading the reviews – you’ll likely find more British reviews since a lot of Brits use the Majorca spelling.
2. Make sure you and your group agree on what you want out of the trip
There’s no point booking a Mallorca cycling tour if the rest of the group want to spend their time lounging about by the pool. Get the most out of your Mallorca cycling trips by figuring out beforehand if you want guided rides and structure to your trip, or whether you’re happy finding your own way to Puig Major.
We hope you’ve found this a useful overview of the kinds of Mallorca cycling holiday operators out there and the differences between them.
Some of the biggest differences we noticed between operators were:
- where they’re based
- how many weeks of the year they’re based in Mallorca
- whether they have fixed departure dates or not
- the level to which you can bespoke your trip
- whether transfers are included in the price or not and
- how transparent they are on group size.
Have you used any of these companies to book your Majorca cycling vacations? We’d love to hear your experiences – comment below!

This trip and experience was a dream come true!! The entire staff; mechanics, guides and management at Stuart Hall are nothing short of superb! My wife and I booked an Oct 2023 Majorca trip with them for my 50th birthday present and they only met, but exceeded our expectations! Warm, friendly and professional, it was a real pleasure to spend our vacation there and to get to know all of them. The hotel management and entire staff are nothing short of exceptional as well. The grounds are quite charming and we were delighted by our stay at the Playa Mar in Port de Pollenca. This was my 50th birthday present (cycling in Majorca) and our 8th wedding anniversary. What a magical place with so many wonderful people…guests and new friends, guides and hotel staff. It will always hold unforgettable memories and be a special place for us. Do yourself a favor and book with Stuart Hall for your next cycling adventure!!…you won’t be sorry! Thank you for the lifelong memories! ~Sammy & Sarah
Hi Helen, I never got chance to speak to you before I left unfortunately. Just to say I had an amazing week cycling with your team and it’s probably one of the best holidays I have ever had. Thanks so much to you and all your team in Mallorca. Gabrielle 🙂
Morning Jenny Just to let you know that I had a fantastic week in Mallorca. It was my first time with SHC and I would definitely recommend them to any other cyclists (particularly a woman who travels solo). Only negative point is it went far too quickly (next time I’ll stay longer ).
I had a brilliant trip with Stuart Hall Cycling. From arrival to departure everything was organised for me. I stayed in the same hotel as the Stuart Hall crew which was amazing, not only did I throughly enjoy the cycling but also enjoyed the breakfast and lunch and dinner with the guys. The guides Stuart, Marcus, Ben, Rob and Tiago were brillaint ensuring that everybody was comfortable and noone left behind. Would highly recommend and not just because of the very reasonable prices. You are guaranteed a good holiday with these guys.”
That was an incredible first experience you gave me cycling in Europe. What a great 6 days, the transfers, the hotel, the loops, the climbs, the lunch stops, the support van,the road captains, the evening recovery meals. An absolute blast. THANK YOU.
Just back from a six day cycling holiday with Stuart Hall in Mallorca. From start to finish, the professional approach of Stuart Hall and his team ensured that our entire party of 20 were excellently looked after in an non intrusive but professional manner. All the highlighted cycling trips proved to be well planned and immensely enjoyable taking in some of the islands breathtaking scenery. Would highly recommend Stuart Hall Cycling to those thinking of venturing on a cycling holiday either as a group or an individual. Also his choice of hotel for our stay The Mars Senses was ideal with great food and excellent staff. In the immortal words of the Terminator……we will be back. Tony
Hi Stuart & Team,
It was our first time cycling in Majorca, have to say we thoroughly enjoyed evey bit of it, from the hotel, bike hire, guides, routes etc, couldn’t find a fault.
We certainly plan to be back again in April 2023.
If carlsberg did cycling holidays, this was it, hotel, facilities, location beside the beach, shops, restaurants food, staff, cycling guides, top class, looking forward to returning next year, highly recommend 👍
Morning Jenny, just a quick note to say thank you to you all for our stay with you this week. Stuart was the perfect guide on the road ensuring we got to ride the many hidden quiet roads on the Island, we will be back to be expertly guided around the island again. Wishing you a great season ahead Regards Frances
Can’t recommend Stuart Hall Cycling enough – have now cycled north and south of Mallorca with them, routes are always well chosen and appropriate, guides are excellent and great company. The hotels they use are in excellent locations, comfortable and very friendly with all the facilities you’ll need on a cycling holiday. Bike hire also top quality and good value. Given the way we’ve all had to live over the last few years their flexibility and ability to accommodate last minute changes is equally admirable
This was the first time we had participated in a leader led cycle activity and it was brilliant. We really enjoyed the experience.
The booking process / general organisation was very relaxed – ‘well oiled’ – supported with information as & when requested. We had absolute confidence in ‘Stuart Hall Cycling’ with regards to arrangements such as transfers, hotel booking & cycling experience and the general organisation was excellent. The hotel (Occidental Playa de Palma) was perfect for us. The food was good and generous.
The rides were good. Interesting, very enjoyable and sometimes challenging, which has given us a benchmark for our next trip. Ed had us weighed up & measured quickly (ability / fitness wise) and tailored the routes / itineraries perfectly.
The hire bikes were great value for money, set up perfectly and with Ed & Stuart on hand we had full confidence in the mechanicals.
In summary, the experience was just what we had imagined and you did not disappoint, far from it.
I had a fantastic week in Majorca with Stuart Hall Cycling. My first cycling trip overseas and first venture into group riding. The experience was very memorable, as a lone female cyclist I felt looked after from the moment I arrived at the airport until my departure. The staff could not do enough to make my holiday great fun with guidance where needed.
A highlight for me was a group ride at pace where Helen both supported me and gave me guidance how to ride in a peloton. This gave me confidence and knowledge for the future.
I made lots of friends never feeling alone. I will certainly be back in Spring hopefully catching up with the friends I made.
It’s just over 2 weeks since we contacted you about a potential short cycling trip to Mallorca. From the beginning to now sitting here waiting for our flight back to London the service we have received and experienced has really been beyond exceptional. In our opinion it’s always starts with ‘location, location’ and Mallorca, Puerto Pollenca and Mar Senses Hotel are spot on. All the staff we met were fantastic, from the taxi driver from the airport, Ed the mechanic and Wayne and Simon as cycling guides. Not to mention ALL the staff in the hotel. We are working hard already to organise ourselves for a return trip to Mar Senses next year. Please could you look at your availability around Easter weekend 2022, 5-7 nights. We are reasonably flexible about dates. Ideally, leaving UK on Thursday 21st April 2022 please. It’s very exciting to be able to plan ahead a bit more. Thank you once again, you’ve been brilliant and we shall spread the word about you to our many cycling friends. Best wishes
Mark & Rachel
I struck gold this week with you lot, thanks for brilliant trip
Rode with Stuart Hall cycling on a recent C2C. The team Phil Welch, Mark Hall and Ed Moesli were superb, full of knowledge, supportive and motivational. Nothing was too much trouble, all good guys to be with through 3 tough days of climbing. Wouldn’t hesitate to book another trip with Stuart Hall cycling. 5 stars 🌟 team!
Have to say I am unbelievably impressed with your response to all this, and a lot of other travel companies could learn a lot from you. This type of thing is not forgotten when things get back to normal.
Hi Jenny Thanks, excellent service. I have no qualms about using your firm again in the future! Paul
You most certainly will [see us in Mallorca in the future]. So very impressed with your company. Will recommend to anyone. Good luck and hope all work out well 😊 Nick
Thank you so much, you are obviously a very classy operation.
Many thanks for refund. I appreciate that this must be a difficult time for the company and I’ve read that other companies haven’t been as understanding as you. Brian
Just a note to confirm I received my full refund into my account recently.
Many thanks for your attention and excellent customer service. It is a credit to your organisation in what must be extremely difficult times for a business such as yours.
I sincerely look forward to booking with you again for Spring 2021.
Until then, stay safe and well.
Good specced bikes in tip top condition. Hotel chosen was excellent and food amazing. Slick operation lots of repeat customers
We just finished two weeks there with SHC. Best vacation we’ve ever had. Dave
Hi Helen and Stuart We have just really enjoyed a very relaxing week in Mallorca at the Mar Senses. The cycling has been great and all the guides have done a terrific job (nice relaxed rides, good food stops and good fun). My wife wants to come back again (same time, same place), so Stuart Hall Cycling certainly gets a 10 out of 10 in my feedback!
Thank you. I’ve had an incredible week. I’ll be back. Kudos to Sue. She’s been wonderful 😊
We have just completed a Marlow to Champagne cycle ride organised by the team at Stuart Hall Cycling and it was brilliant! The team were really supportive and very well organised, the entire trip went incredibly smoothly. As a team of mostly novice cyclists we needed as much motivation as possible and they definitely helped with that. Thank you so much for everything, this was a great way of team building for us and I am sure will be talked about for years to come.
Thanks for all your hard work and for all the leaders who led us out on some stunning rides and looked after us so well. I thoroughly enjoyed the bike rides and superb location of the hotel which meant rides covered a variety of scenery. The food was great with choices to suit everyone and the accommodation was very comfortable.
It was my second time with Stuart Hall in Mallorca and I would highly recommend his organisation and friendly accommodating approach with rides to suit everyone. My non cycling companion also had a great week.
A fabulous week, thanks for your and your team’s attention to all our needs. Accommodation, bikes, service all brilliant.
A big thank you to you and the team for making my first overseas cycling trip a memorable one!
You’ve got a great set up and team . . . and I’ve left inspired to take my cycling up a notch.
All the best
I had a great cycling holiday with Stuart Hall. In particular I loved the Andratx to Port de Pollença ride and Sa Calobra. High praise for the planning and tour guides, the hotel, facilities and bikes. Highly recommend. Julia
Sorry I missed you on my trip. I had a great time and rode about 500 miles in the seven days I was in Mallorca.
The staff, hotel and food were outstanding. The routes were wonderful. I loved the flexibility each day with the different rides.
Please tell the guys that they really helped my training. I returned home late last night and went racing today. I won two criteriums! Both were about 25 miles each.
Thanks again and we will see you next year.
2nd time with Stuart Hall cycling in one year and can’t fault it- from the hotel, food, staff, rides it was amazing. If you enjoy riding your bike in the sunshine with great company book this holiday you will not be disappointed!
A good setup, well run and great fun. I can highly recommend Stuart Hall and his team. I will definitely be returning. Thanks Stuart, best wishes, James.
Good Afternoon Stuart,
I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you and your staff for a brilliant holiday 23 – 30 sep 2018.
From the moment we arrived everything was excellent, the room in the hotel, the bike and set up, helped by Dan.
The rides each day were very well organised and the three ride leaders, Dave, Tom and Wayne, made the rides even more enjoyable.
I have already told everybody at the club I ride with about Stuart Hall, recommending they use you, if they come to Majorca.
I will definitely look to book next year and look forward to cycling with your company again.
Thanks for a really good week.
Great rides, top guides, nice hotel and good company.
Morning Jenny Just want to say thank you to the whole team for a wonderful weekend. The trip was extremely well organised, the accommodation was ideal and Stuart and the rest of the lads were great company. I loved the ride as the route and views were breathtaking and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I’m very interested in taking part again next year once the ride is announced please could you drop me an email to let me know. Regards Paul
Stuart, I have to thank all of you at Stuart Hall Cycles for organising and supporting me thoughout the week of the Marmotte. You kept the pressure off the riders and the professional advice in the days before the race was invaluable (you even told me how to breathe).
The race day will always be one of the best days of my life and the race went so well. When I came down off the Galibier to find Dave by the van shouting “You did it man, man you did it!” I was sure that I would be a finisher. When I punctured in the last tunnel going down to Bourg, Dave and Ian rocked up to help before I even had the tyre off, it was great.
So at 69 I completed my first Marmotte and rode all the way, I have the medal, the long sleeve jersey and the memories!
Very many thanks for all the help.
I recently returned from a week cycling with you between 28 April and 5 May 2018 with a group of 10 other friends. This was my second time with SHC and once again it was a great experience from the uplift at the airport, the hotel, cycling, staff and the drop off. The choice of routes and scenery is fantastic.
I also had a minor mechanical with my bike, which your staff sorted out in a few minutes.
I will be returning in October with my wife and we are both really looking forward to it already.
Just returned from a week cycling in Mallorca. Had the best time and just wanted to take the opportunity to say what a wonderful group of staff you have, especially David going above and beyond to ensure all guests are happy!
Thanks again I will definitely be back
Had the most fantastic time cycling in Majorca with some great friends, great guides (Stuart Hall cycling), and meeting new friends. 840 miles cycled in 11 days! Can’t wait to go again!! Lindsey
Just home last night after an epic 5 days riding with this great bunch. Best holiday ever. Can’t wait for the next trip #sorebum 🚲
Had a great holiday my partner and I. 10 out of 10 from start to finish. Looking forward to the next time which will be in May.
5 star time! Great guides – and they were even able to burn the candle at both ends!! Many thanks – hope to be back!
I just completed the Raid Pyrenees with Stuart Hall Cycling. This was Epic, with a capital ‘E’. Yes, no doubt, other tour companies can get you from Hendaye to Cerbere but not likely on the secondary roads, by-ways, lanes, and obscure Cols that only Stuart manages to discover. If you want a memorable adventure and an experience of a life-time, then, Stuart Hall’s Raid Pyrenees will deliver in spades. This is no easy ride; and requires one to be in peak aerobic condition, with legs of steel, a resolute mind, and a willing spirit. It’s just fabulous, and a worthy goal for any serious cyclist. It’s six days of concentrated effort; you’ll be tired, yes, but you won’t stop smiling.
Just a note of thanks from our group of cyclists and non-cyclists for a beautiful few days at your cycling camp. For most it was the first taste of what is on offer in the way of cycling and relaxation in Majorca, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the routes. We were all really impressed with the Playa Mar, you have a terrific base there with great facilities and quietness when you need it!
Some are already planning for 2018. Best wishes, Mike
Amazing week of cycling with 370 miles done in 6 days. I also met so many lovely people. Home to real life tomorrow and many thanks to all at Stuart Hall cycling for the best week yet. Great cycles, great food and super great company. Thanks Stuart Hall – I will be back soon.
Long miles, winding roads, beautiful scenery, new friends, same great staff and wonderful spring training experience at Stuart Hall in Mallorca. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. Hope we meet again next year! Kristi
Hi Stuart. I am sat in the plane home with a smile on my face after another fantastic week. Thanks to you, all those who lead rides and those behind the scenes. Each year I come little things change. They are always for the better but the core elements remain intact. Your trips are low key, relaxed and always about riding bikes. You make me and the others I talk to feel valued. The six months until I return will hopefully fly by. Kind regards. Jonathan
Stu, these boys are… a pleasure to be with!! It’s great you’ve found people of the same mindset as yourself.
Three days spent with the guys and other repeat clients, have made the short break invaluable. Professional, knowledgeable, and inclusive are words that spring to mind. In short Andy, Ben and Garry are top guys who know their riding, and go that “Extra Mile” to deliver a Fantastic, Memorable, Experience.
Thanks for another great time. Cheers Chris
Hi Stuart Back home now 🙁 Just a quick note to thank you for a fantastic time. It exceeded my expectations. Fantastic rides, staff, company, accommodation, food, hire bike & transport…and good cycling weather too 🙂 I would love to come back (multiple times if only I could retire!) Regards and thanks to all
Just returned home yesterday having spent 11 days at the Playa Mar, I would like to pass on my thanks to all for such an excellent time. First time with you in Majorca and it won’t be the last, a very special thanks to Emma, Ben, Dan, Lucy and yourself Stuart. Many thanks again.
Just a note to say how much I enjoyed my trip last week. Exactly what I wanted. Your guys did a great job with a small group managing to keep everyone satisfied. Will use you again in future for sure.
Just a short note to say how impressed am I with your outfit. The guides were excellent, incredibly knowledgeable about all the backroads, the hotel was adequate and the food fine. The prompt and efficient attention to detail was remarkable, including setting up of the bike which required no further tweaks from the specs I sent through.
You’re doing a great job, many thanks for providing an excellent week of riding. Warm regards, Steve
Big thank you Stuart to you and your team for looking after us all the way and ensuring we all made it to the end. A journey I’ll never forget!
I just wanted to say thank you again for the great trip I had training with you all in March 2015! On Sunday I raced at Ironman Wales and came first in my age group by over 2hrs which meant I qualified for the world championships next October! Look forward to coming out next year to train with you all for this.
Thank you very much for an amazing week in Mallorca. The cycling was brilliant, we felt challenged and your planning was excellent. Needless to say, we will be back next year.
Just a few words to say a big thank you for the 9 days, probably the best 9 days concurrent cycling I have ever done. The weather helped, the company certainly did, and the roads and routes were superb.
Just wanted to say this trip was a baptism of fire for me as I only took up the cycling thing in February, that said it was a fantastic holiday and I had brilliant time whilst learning many new things about group riding and hill climbing. I definitely have the bug, thank you for a great time, especially to Sam (catweazel) who made me feel welcome and gave me confidence.

Mallorca Bike Tours
To tour Mallorca by bicycle is to see why it’s considered the pinnacle of cycling for all types of riders. Mallorca is the largest of Spain’s Balearic Islands, a chain that includes Ibiza and Minorca, with all the tropical trappings: sun-drenched beaches, secret swimming coves, and seaside restaurants. But it’s the UNESCO-protected Tramuntana Mountains and excellent paved roads along the Mediterranean that make this a cycling paradise—plus stops in market towns and coastal communities constructed of sandstone before the bike tour ends in Palma.
Olives, sobrasada sausage, ensaïmada pastries, and seafood like langoustines and locally caught fish
Unique, locally produced wine varietals including Callet and Manto Negro and white wines like Prensal

Cycling in Mallorca: where to go, what to ride
Heading to cycling's most popular island? Here's all you need to know...
- Sign up to our newsletter Newsletter
Why go to Mallorca?
- When to go and how to get there
- What to take?
- Where to stay
- Where to ride
Mallorca is, along with other Spanish hotspots like Girona , the Costa Blanca and the Canary Islands one of the go-to destinations for riders looking for some sun and smooth roads for a cycling holiday for spring riding abroad.
A frequent training camp base for Ineos Grenadiers , Astana , Canyon/SRAM and - whilst we're at it - most of the pro peloton at one time or another, the Balearic Island is a popular host for amateur clubs and teams as well.
Spring is the most popular time to visit, and in the months between February and April it's near impossible to ride on the island without coming across several miniature pelotons made up of pros, amateurs or groups that are somewhere in the middle.
Considering a visit? Here's what you need to know...
Firstly - if you need convincing as to why you should make Mallorca your destination of choice, it's because you can almost always expect a trio of good weather, mixed terrain and (largely) understanding drivers.
When to go to Mallorca for cycling and how to get there
With its Mediterranean climate, Mallorca gets hot mid-summer. That means the best times to visit are spring, when many riders are chasing sun as they look to up their form for summer and shake off the winter doldrums, or autumn when they're hoping to stretch their summer season by a week and hold onto their form going into winter and the unenviable mix of wet roads and the turbo .
In March and May, maximum temperatures vary from 17 to 22°C, then 23 to 19°C in October and November. December, January and February are cooler but still see highs of around 15°C - though this is variable; the island has seen snow in these months so planning your trip in the off-season proper is a bit of a risk.
Average rain days a month vary from one to seven through the year, so though you might see a couple of wet days, it shouldn't last too long.
If you'd like to time your visit to coincide with an event, then check out the Mallorca 312 sportive .
This epic sportive is an annual affair which takes place in April each year. Initially, it circumnavigated the coastline - but the route has since been changed to allow for closed roads. You can ride 312km or 167km, and this event sees the island pretty much taken over by cyclists. It gets booked out early though.
For travel, the capital Palma houses an airport - flight times from the UK are usually around two and a half hours.
Palma is about 60km from Pollença, where a lot of riders base themselves. When travelling in small groups, we have typically hired a car, whilst on large group excursions we'd organise a transfer with bike box trailer.
What to take for cycling in Mallorca?
The first question is ' do I take my bike or hire one '? Either option will work - there are plenty of hire services and if you're not staying long this can work out cheaper than paying for the carriage of a bike box by an airline.
It cuts out the hassle and worry, too - but does mean you'll be riding an unfamiliar machine, although you may be able to hire that dream bike that you've always wanted to ride.
If you do take your own bike, pack shoes and pedals in your hand luggage so you can hire if there's any delay in your bike arriving - this can happen when there are many bikes on one plane (can, not should).
In terms of kit, check forecasts of course, but bear in mind that it'll be chillier on the top of climbs and on descents. Essential items include all manner of warmers ( leg, knee , arm ), a gilet and packable jacket which will provide you with an extra layer for descents and cafe stops. Check out our ten tips for cycling in the mountains .
Some rides include tunnels - so be sure to pack ideally a set of lights and at the least a rear.
Where to stay when cycling in Mallorca
The longest route around the entire perimeter is 312km - North to South is 75km and East to West is 100km.
Most riders visiting the island will have the opportunity to explore a pretty hefty percentage of its attractions during their stay. However, where you choose to base yourself will of course influence your riding itinerary.
The vast majority of cyclists set up camp in the Northern coastal towns of Port de Pollença and Alcudia.
The key attraction of this area is that it sits close to the edge of the Tramuntana Mountains - the highest point of which is the tip of Puig Major. Whilst evidently there are plenty of adjacent climbs, the area also offers flat roads along the coast and some undulating countryside routes as well.
Whilst Port de Pollença houses the base of the famous 'lighthouse ride' to Formentor, Alcudia can provide some historical ambles around town to explore the 14th century walls. The two are separated by around 10km of sea front so it's not much odds.
An alternative base is Port Soller, which is a little further down the coastline. The busy town can provide plenty of restaurants and a more energetic evening vibe. However, nestled in a bay, the only way out is to ascend one of three climbs - Col de Soller, for example, is 7.4km and six per cent or you could opt for Puig Major at 13.9km and six per cent. No day will start easily.
Areas to avoid are dotted along the South coast - such as Magaluf, Palmanova and s'Arenal. These areas host quite a different holiday experience, and you might struggle to get enough sleep to facilitate your next day's riding plans.
Since Mallorca is an island frequented by cyclists, you won't encounter any struggles finding a hotel or apartment that is bike friendly. Many advertise their bike lock ups, and even work with local shops to provide hire options.
CW has enjoyed many stays at the Duva Hotel, in Port de Pollença, which provides a hearty buffet breakfast and dinner, locked bike cages and a spa with indoor and outdoor pools (the later is ideal for a make-do post ride ice bath).
Similarly, you're not going to struggle finding a bike shop, hire bike or tour guide in Mallorca. There are a fair few providers offering package deals that include board, food and led rides, some with coaching and planned intervals thrown in too if you're training with a specific purpose.
Where to ride in Mallorca
The key attractions in Mallorca are of course the climbs - but you might want to add in a couple of flatter days, too.
Since Port de Pollença and Alcudia are the most popular towns for cycling bases, we've started most ride distances and routes from there.
Sa Calobra is probably the most famous ascent on the island. It's a road to nowhere (except a couple of cafes at the base) - so the only real reason for descending is to go back up.
The 9.5km climb carries an average gradient of seven per cent, with an array of sweeping hairpin bends towards the top.
It's a good idea to try to get to Sa Calobra early in the morning; wait until later in the day and you may find your descent hampered by coaches carrying tourists.
Getting there usually involves a fair bit of climbing in itself. If you're based in Port de Pollença and Alcudia, the route out and back can come to around 80-100 kilometres, though you might prefer a loop like this .
Climbing out of the coastal towns, you'll begin with the 7.5km Col de Femenia (six per cent) - this is a perfect way to wake the legs up for the longer trials ahead.
Near the top of the Col de Femenia you'll find the Respol petrol station. Pause for a refuel, before beginning the road to Sa Calobra. There's another 5km slog before the long descent to the sea - after which you'll have no choice but to retrace your tracks back up the beast.
Puig Major / Col de Soller loop
Puig Major (climbed from Soller), at 10.6km with an average grade of six per cent, is the longest climb on the island.
On a day that you've got fresh legs, you can combine it with an ascent of the Southern side of the Col de Soller (4.9km at five per cent - which is much more gentle than the Northern side at 7.3km at six per cent), using Soller itself as a perfect pit stop. Just be careful of the tram lines that can play havoc with skinny tyres.
Once you're up and over Puig Major, with its long sections of painfully straight road, you'll be rewarded with stunning views. The descent is a long, extended affair during which you'll see flashes of the Gorg Blau reservoir - a sight that should bring life back to weary legs.
There's a great example loop here to give you some route inspiration.
Cap de Formentor
The ride to Formentor is typically considered to be a 'recovery day' ride, being about 60km from Alcudia and less from Pollença.
However, it's not flat at all - starting with a 3.7km climb (Coll de sa Creueta), followed by a descent and then a gradual rise all the way to the lighthouse at Formentor.
Whilst the ride is by no means easy, the views are absolutely breathtaking, and it's that which makes the lighthouse ride an unmissable experience.
There is a small cafe at the top, but you might be better off rolling your way back and enjoying a more moderately priced coffee by the coast.
There are several long tunnels on the way to the lighthouse, so you will need lights.
Petra flat day out
Whilst the Formentor ride is far from a flat amble, the ride to from Port de Pollença/Alcudia to Petra can be. Indeed we have often used this as a mostly flat day out ideal for more social rides or even skills training days.
The route out to Petra consists of plenty of undulating and flat roads. The place itself is a fairly sleepy town, with a courtyard where you'll find a selection of cafes - including the Bar Restaurante Es Casino which serves particularly good large slabs of cheesecake.
Not far from Petra is Sineu, too - a town which plays host to an outdoor velodrome which is open to the public 24/7. If your legs are feeling fresh, this easy spin of a day makes for a perfect opportunity to test out your form with a flying lap.
If you want to add a little bit of spice en route back, you could try this 110km route - which finishes with with an ascent of Coll de sa Batalla.
The climb up to Lluc from Sineu is a 'tester friendly' shallow climb at about five per cent over 8km, and you'll get to enjoy the descent from Lluc back into Pollença.

Located off the coast of Spain, the island of Majorca serves as an ideal setting for a bike tour. This loop tour of Majorca cycles around the entire island, visiting new, exciting sights and towns each day.
You'll be astonished by the natural beatuy! Standing on steep cliffs, overlooking quiet bays, you will feel the charm of Mallorca far away from its rich night life.
In the hills in the interior of the island, the wheels of the mills are turning gently, and you can hear the cicadas chirping in the grass. On this tour, you will cycle up and downhill – some nice climbs and descents await you. Perhaps those ups and downs are symbolic of the turbulent 2,000-year history of the largest Balearic Island? Both the coastal and the inland areas have their own charm and you will get to know each of them.
In the Dragon Caves of Porto Cristo, you will experience how creative, even bizarre, the architecture of nature can be. The picturesque fishing villages and shimmering salt lakes will revive your sense of romance.
And, of course, you will get many opportunities for swimming and sunbathing! "La Luminosa – The Enlightened One" is how Spainiards refer to Mallorca.
A great time to visit Majorca is in February, when you can see the island's almond trees in bloom .
Note: this itinerary is subject to change at Almond Blossom season, the first few dates of travel in February and March, due to some hotels being unavailable.

What an amazing trip, but beware of the hills!
We loved this trip. So, so, so glad we upgraded to the better bikes! If you don't LOVE BIG HILLS, make sure you get the e-bike (I'm not kidding!) The hotels were nice, but we were extremely disappointed when we realized after finishing one of the days' rides that we had 10k MORE to get to our hotel. We had a little difficulty with the route loading slowly in some areas, so we had to backtrack. Hint 1 - make sure you have international phone service so that you can access google to search where you should be just in case. Hint 2 - make sure you read the printed directions each night to find the next day's starting location because it won't be your hotel.

Great ride but a few concerns
First thing of concern is a water bottle, I bought my water bottle but the did not have a holder for the bottle I also am not sure of the conditions of the Nikes my back tire was low at the starts and had to be looked at before taking off The location for the paella was awful by the time we got there we were told they were closing and anytime we asked for a drink we were informed that we were keeping them open Also the paella was awful the chicken was ful with Bones The last town port de soller was absolutely gorgeous but the ride out was a concern to us and we opted not to ride All in all it was a great trip

We thoroughly enjoyed every day of our trip. The route was beautiful and took us through the interesting and diverse countryside. The app made navigation easy for our self guided tour and our manual bikes had enough gears to get us up the hills. We would highly recommend this trip.

Great ride but horrible bikes
We enjoyed generally the trip locations. Ride instructions were definitely a little fuzzy at times but generally good. The bikes were horrific. They had these heavy, equipment laden bikes that were meant for city riding and not going through the countryside. Not the type of bike meant for doing long hill climbs. Hotels were fine and had good locations, but again instructions to get to them were not great. We had to incur roaming charges to find one because the instructions they gave to find it would have put us the next town over.
BikeTours.com staff reply from Chloe October 17, 2019
Hi Bill, thanks kindly for the feedback. We appreciate you letting us know about the bikes being heavy and that the instructions could be improved. Most tours we offer are on hybrid touring bikes, and we can certainly understand they are often heavier bikes than most clients have at home. We'll surely pass your feedback onto the tour operator in order to improve their operations. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the ride and locations you visited regardless. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

Very enjoyable island loop
We hadn't been to Majorca before. This was a great way to explore it. The maps were excellent and the bikes were good quality city / touring bikes. The Euro-bike stickers on street signage are really helpful.

Beautiful place to cycle!
Majorca is truly a lovely island. Breathtaking coastal views and lovely pastoral scenery inland. Had some great lunches in the local towns. The arrangements were excellent. Good bikes, routes easy to follow, all hotels top-notch.

This was our first self guided tour. Almost everything was perfect. There are a couple of suggestions that may make the trip even better. Even though this was a self guided tour there were other people who were doing the tour at the same time. We saw them here and there but did not get to meet them and talk to them until 5th day at the luncheon. It would have been nice to have that lunch earlier so we could meet and interact sooner. We missed out on potential good friendship and interaction with others. The WiFi service was poor in most places. I use it regularly to stay in touch with family back home. The last place we stayed gave us individual wifi codes and it worked great. We would have loved to stay two nights at the Port de Soller instead of Can Picafort. That was the most beautiful area and we just did not have enough time to explore the area. The food was hit and miss but OK overall. I would suggest finding small restaurants with daily special menu for lunches. We had our best food on our trip in a little town in a very small restaurant. We will definitely do this kind of trips again.

Loop tour mallorca
The trip was fantastic, Euro Bike were alway available. The hotels were all 4 star. Every town we stayed in had points of interest. I have done a lot of biking in Europe & would use Euro Bike again. Only thing I would change is the option to be billed in Euros on my visa without a visa sèvice fee, other companies do this.
Met all expectations
Really a wonderful experience - with some shortcomings in navigation information and ability to contact local rep when needed, but still a trip that I would recommend highly.

The only way to see Mallorca
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around Mallorca. I cannot recommend this tour enough!you really get to experience the island as a whole, and see al the different landscapes.it is value for money, i was pleasantly surprised every day and everything exceeded my expectation ( and my expectation was high). All the hotels are located right at the beach, the food was great at all the hotels, the rooms basic and clean we needed nothing more.service where great and location superb!the tour itself is worked out in every detail and the routes are beautiful!the people of mallorca are really friendly and very tolerate of cyclists.we were a group of 8 friends and yes i want to see every country on my bucket list on a bike now!the lunch at fornalutx (spelling?) was absolutely fabulous with the most beautiful little town and view from deck!go ahead and book this epic tour.

What our customers say about us
Cycle tour with tapas for hen party.
An amazing thing to do to see the city and get about. We did it for part of a hen party - there were 7 of us. The tour was all off the busy roads along cycle paths which was great as a few of us were nervous. We saw the coast and the beach then back around the cathedral and to the old town for some tapas tasting. Our guide was Isabella and she was fun, quirky and interesting. She always stopped in the shade where she could, took lots of photos of us and kept us safe! Really enjoyed it. Thanks!
Chester, reino unido, brilliant bike tour.
Jorn our guide was excellent. We joined a group tour with some other tourists in September . Bikes were well maintained and when one of our groups gears were not working it was quickly changed . Helmets and baskets were available too. Very informative and great fun. Quite flat so no massive exertion required in the heat. We didn’t do the tapas tour but our fellow Tourists did and we just joined for a drink. 3 hours well Spent with good local knowledge and much better than a hop on hop off bus. Very personal and we loved the nun cookie store !
Bexley, United Kingdom
I had preconceived notions of Palma, so wasn't overly enthusiastic about having a day here on our cruise. Nothing piqued my interest in the shore excursion options and I found these guys on Viator. So glad I did. I had a wonderful day and the old town is beautiful. James was such a lovely guy and really made the tour even more enjoyable. Tapas and wine was great, so I recommend getting that added extra onto the tour. Thanks, James!!
Adelaide, australia, value for money bike ride.
Bikes were in very good condition, helmets provided but we had to ask. Had a great trip with Jorn who proved to be an interesting, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. I'd recommend him if you get a choice. The tapas and drinks was a nice way to take a break from the ride and get to know the other riders and Jorn. Everything that is to see in Palma is covered and it's history explained. We were on and off the bikes for around 4 hours - well worth the price. You don't need to be a regular cyclist to enjoy this ride. Much of the route is on cycle paths or very quiet back streets.
Perfect way to see the city.
James was a fabulous guide, and he took us to the best spots in Palma, being informative every step of the way. Great personality and a lot of fun!! The bikes were in excellent shape, and when mine was just a little tweaky, he immediately made a stop and replaced it for me. We felt like natives as we discovered all of the history of Mallorca as well as the amazing architecture. The Convent of Santa Clara was a highlight, and we ended on a fun note with a drink at a local restaurant. Highly recommend this tour as a way to explore a beautiful city.

- We’ll stay the Esmerelda Park Hotel in Cala D’Or , about an hour’s drive from the airport.
- Relax and let us take care of you.
The island of Mallorca offers a fabulous variety of terrain and scenery and we will explore a great deal of it. Mountain days may include challenging switchback climbs of up to 15km.
Interior routes offer rides on Mallorca’s labyrinth of quiet, stone-walled roads through pastoral farmlands and ancient vineyards. Spectacular shoreline roads offer flat gentle routes, connecting picturesque towns and beaches. It is just a wonderful place to ride your bike.
This is a cycling holiday..
… not a training camp. That said, we take our group riding seriously and our leaders focus on quality group riding. For those with little group riding experience, we are there to teach you all about safe, predictable, enjoyable group riding.
- Upon arrival, we try to get everyone set up on their bikes and out for a short ride to flush out the travel and on to the Mallorcan time-zone.
- In addition, there are 7 riding days and a full rest day. (Of course, we are adults on holiday and you are welcome to take more rest days.)
- Itineraries are adjusted to meet the needs of the groups.
- Mallorca has mountains and we will climb them. Twice, we will transfer the group and bicycles to remote starts and explore as much of the island as possible.
Choose from 3 groups each day.
There are 3 group options your day’s ride. Each group will be led by a guide who can change a flat tire, find a good coffee and lunch spot and lead a safe group ride.
- Groupo Relaxo – rides 50-80km/day while enjoying great coffee stops, town squares, lunch stops and all the beauty of Mallorca. There will be challenges and new experience but not at the expense of smiles, laughter and the pleasure of riding.
- Groupo Not-so-Relaxo – rides a little faster and further but with the same smile and need for coffees and lunch stops. 80-100km is the norm.
- Groupo Rapido – puts in more kilometres but maintains the focus on quality group riding. There are plenty of challenges in this groupo, but the spirit of the group takes care of everyone and gets us all home for happy hour.
All 3 groups leave at the same time and aim to be back at the hotel patio for a shared happy hour.

Cycling in Mallorca
A paradisiacal island sunning itself in the Balearic Sea, you’ll soon find that cycling in Majorca is one of the best ways to explore. With a mountainous eastern coast, you can put your thighs to the test and climb sweeping switchbacks with immense sea views. After a pause at the top to mop the brow and glug some water, your descent will be exhilarating to the max.
An utterly fantastic place for two-wheeled explorations, cycle routes in Majorca can be flat, steep and everything in between. Kid-friendly trails wind along stunning coastlines with ample beaches and ice cream stops. Much of the terrain inland has only low hills, providing the perfect balance between climbs, views and descents that won’t be obstacles for most keen riders.
With an unbeatable climate, clear seas and innumerable trails, cycling in Majorca is a slice of paradise.

Cyclists have become an ever-increasing sight across this Mediterranean island’s diverse landscape. There are two very good reasons; bike rides in Majorca come in every shape and size, and the weather is astounding all year round.
Never been on two wheels before? You can learn on flat, peaceful trails. Took home the gold at the last Olympics? You’ll find ideal routes for your ability. On Spain’s second-largest island, the cycle routes in Majorca can be traffic-free dirt trails or smooth tarmac switchbacks where drivers are respectful and used to hordes of cyclists. After all, this is an island where pro teams train.
In the north, the Serra de Tramuntana mountains are a haven if you’re after serious climbs, views and descents. The very north has spectacular routes including riding up to Cap de Formentor, with its lighthouse and phenomenal vistas. Cycling in Majorca truly comes into its own as you ride through the mountains along the coast and you can always end the day at the beach for a well-deserved rest.
When flatter trails call, you’re well catered for. Much of Majorca’s interior is low-lying and the central plain from Alcudia Bay to Palma makes for wonderful, gentle adventures.
Cycle through history
If you’d like to see fascinating historic sites as you pedal your merry way around Majorca, you’ll certainly be pleased. With 14th century Bellver castle, 13th century Santuari de Lluc monastery and many extraordinary caves, to name a few, there are plenty of historic objectives to swing by.
Preparing for Majorcan cycling
Majorca has an exceptional climate for cycling. Mild winters and warm shoulder seasons bring cyclists in their droves to explore and train on the island. Summer gets hot, but with a sea breeze, morning and evening rides can be wonderful. The most popular cycling season is March to May. Autumn has lovely temperatures but sees more rain.
Always remember to take good water supplies with you, as the sunny island can quickly lead you into dehydration. Sunscreen is another must, including one small enough to carry. Snacks are always beneficial, but you’ll find plenty of cafes and restaurants filled with glorious seafood, lunches and ice cream to keep you going.

The Best Cycling Routes In Mallorca
Mallorca is the capital of cycling in the Mediterranean. It has fostered a reputation for great riding and bike-friendly roads. This is in part due to the huge numbers of foreign cyclists and professional teams that make the pilgrimage to this stunning Balearic Island off the east coast of mainland Spain . With smooth roads, amazing ascents and descents, a comfortable climate and delicious gastronomy; it’s easy to see why so many make the trip to experience the best cycling routes in Mallorca.
So, let’s explore why this jewel of the Med is a road cyclist’s paradise by looking at some of the best Mallorca road cycling routes.
Cap de Formentor
The Cap de Formentor is one of the most beautiful cycling routes in Mallorca with a destination not to be missed. With spectacular views and scenic climbs, the route is one of the world’s best cycle rides; and it’s not just us saying that. Cyclist Magazine and the Telegraph have both ranked the Cap de Formentor as one of the world’s best. It’s easy to see why; the destination of this great ride is the Formentor lighthouse on Mallorca’s north east tip. With panoramic views across to Menorca’s dazzling coves, Cala Figuera’s bustling harbour and Alcúdia’s golden beaches; it is a view not to be missed and one that certainly rewards a rider at the end of a tough day in the saddle.
Just before riding on to the cap you will pass through Port de Pollença; the inspiration for Agatha Christie’s novel ‘Problems at Pollensa Bay’. Instead of getting your murder mystery on, take a midday coffee before the final climb.
A 98km ride with 1335 metres of climbing. This scenic route is perfect for the seasoned rider looking to challenge themselves. From July to August, between ten o’clock in the morning and seven o’clock in the evening. There is a ban on motor vehicles, making it a truly bike-friendly climb in the summer months.
Tramuntana Coastal Road
The Tramuntana Coastal Road is a spectacular ride. It takes in some of the island’s best hills and mountains for a blockbuster day of climbing. Also located in the north of Mallorca; the road includes the Coll de sa Batalla climb with its dizzying hairpin road. Coming off the back of the climb you will then descend into Lluc where you can buy a mid-ride coffee at the historic Santuari de Lluc monastery.
The Coll de Femenia, with its impossibly smooth surface, can also be found on the coastal road and is another of the island’s famed climbs. The greatest challenge on the coastal road, if you choose to take it on, is Mallorca’s highest road Puig Major. At 13.7 kilometres in length with 818 metres of elevation; the moonscape landscape atop the mountain is similar to that of Mont Ventoux. This Mallorca cycling route is not to be missed if you’re up for the challenge.
The Tramuntana Coastal Road’s most famous ride goes from Pollença to Andratx. It includes all of the above climbs and is 110 kilometres in length with 2,520 metres of elevation. It certainly is a tough day in the saddle. But, the reward is the sensual experience of riding through the orange valley at Sóller and scenic villages of Deià, Valldemossa and Banyalbufar.
Sa Calobra, or ‘the snake’, is located in the north-west of the island and this cycling route in Mallorca is one of the most famous climbs. With 26 hairpin bends, it is the Balearic Islands answer to Italy’s Passo dello Stelvio. A jewel of a route that is certainly tucked away. The start of the climb in the valley is a dead end so a rider first has to climb the Coll de Reis and then descend Sa Calobra before taking on the challenge. It’s well worth the extra effort though as ‘the snake’ is an incredible climb to both ascend and descend. At 10km with an average gradient of 7%, it is consistent with a few steep stretches. With archways cut out of the sheer rock faces, sweeping turns and unparalleled sea views; even if your legs are screaming your effort is well rewarded.
Sa Calobra leaves its most stunning piece of roadwork for the peak where you’ll find its famous 270-degree hairpin. The Nus de Sa Corbata. If you travel in winter; the likelihood of bumping into one of the world’s most successful cycling teams on its slopes are very high. This hidden gem is a challenging climb ideal for training rides.
So far this guide to road cycling in Mallorca has comprised of the island’s most famous challenging climbs. But, it isn’t all hairpins and steep ramps on this beautiful island. There are plenty of opportunities for flatter rides for casual cyclists too. The best of this riding can be found in the Orient Valley.
This area is characterised by agriculture, wide open fields, vineyards, olive groves and almond trees. Truly a Mediterranean delight for the senses. A challenge does come on the 5.2km Coll d’Orient but the climb is steady so shouldn’t ruin your day of sightseeing.
Exploring the Orient Valley is the perfect way to soak in the parts of Mallorca that are off the well-beaten tourist trail. Immerse yourself in the history, food and culture of the island by visiting the picturesque villages of Algaida, Montuïri and Santa Eugènia. Sineu is also well worth a visit for its stone monuments, or talaiots, that date back to the Megalithic Age.
Mallorca’s capital is the bustling sun-soaked Palma but don’t let its popularity put you off; despite its cultural vibrance, it’s one of Spain’s most bike-friendly cities. In fact, in 2015, this went some way to making it The Sunday Times best city to live in. With its stretches of golden beaches and vibrant bars and restaurants serving authentic Mediterranean cuisine, Palma is the perfect place for a rest day and an easy cycle ride.
The city’s promenade cycle path is a particular delight and stretches all along the seafront from Porto Pi to El Arenal. There is plenty of urban exploration to be had too as you weave through Palma’s tight streets and seek out La Seu, the city’s world-famous gothic cathedral. For the more adventurous cyclists there is also the option to take on a 30km ride out to the Puig de Santa Magdalena. This a short and sharp climb up to a coffee house with panoramic views across the Orient Valley.
The Island Tour – Road Cycling
The BSpoke Mallorca Island Tour is the perfect way to visit all of these beautiful climbs and regions in one trip. A challenging seven-day excursion, this self-guided Mallorca road cycling tour is ideal for seasoned riders and will no doubt be one of the best weeks on a bike you could possibly have.
The route is over 400km in length with 7510m of elevation, so even if you don’t have your climbing legs in top shape at the start, you will certainly have them in order by the final day. The seven-day tour includes rides to Cap de Formentor, Sa Calobra, the Tramuntana Coastal Road and the Orient Valley, with ample time to explore the rich history, cuisine, sights and culture each day.
The package includes the hire of a carbon road bike, four-star accommodation, GPS navigation, water bottle and accessories, and bed and breakfast cover. With all this and more there is no better way to explore the road cycling in Mallorca than on a bike with this BSpoke tour.

Mallorca Cycling FAQs
The best places to stay in Mallorca are both on the island’s north-east coast. Port de Pollença and Port d’Alcúdia are popular with cyclists as they’re very cycle-friendly. You can also soak in the rays on Mallorca’s beautiful beaches during your rest days and sample mouth-watering seafood cuisine.
It would probably be easier to list the things Mallorca doesn’t have but the short answer is that this island has something for everyone. Golden beaches, turquoise waters, rolling countryside, fantastic climbing, delicious cuisine, a sunny climate and a lively night life. What’s not to like?

Start out tranquillo by pedaling along narrow, well paved roads—dedicated bike routes—into the countryside past picturesque farmland, windmills and dry stone walls. Pass little village Muscari, Selva and Caimari about 12 km to warm up your muscles. Now starts the climb that brings you to Coll de Sa Batalla and Sanctuary Lluc. It is a secular national symbol and an unexpected oasis of tranquillity, of spirituality, of artistic heritage (the Museum), of unspoilt countryside (the Tramuntana mountains and the Botanic Garden), and of Mallorcan cuisine . You got it but you have 33 km more! You have now to continue until you reach Sóller, biking near the reservoirs of Gorg Blau and Cúber. Anyway consider once you arrive at the peak of todays 1027 meters, at cum km 37, you will enjoy 16 km downhill, passing the enchanting village of Fornalutx. For avid bikers: at km 29 you can extend and take the ride downhill on a road called Sa Calobra. Arrival in Soller!! this town lies in a valley surrounded by the grey-green hills of the Tramuntana. The route packs in more than 1,000m of climbing, so is a great workout without spending all day in the saddle. The Coll de Soller is famous for its 61 hairpin bends. After that a tunnel was built here, the road became relatively free of traffic. Once at the peak, you can enjoy the downhill to Bunyola village. You’ll want to take time off your bike to visit the wonderful towns along this route as well, including 10th-century Banyalbufar, whose verdant marjades – stepped slopes- lead gracefully to the sea. Farther down the road, consider taking a break in charming Estellencs, which dates back to the Middle Ages and is known for its attractive stone streets, terraced plots of farmland, picturesque port and the remains of towers once built to fend off pirates. Incredible ocean views greet you once more as you climb up, over, and alongside the Tramuntana coastline, passing rugged cliffs and ancient stone relics along the way. Stop in for a quick coffee, almond cake, or freshly squeezed OJ in the town of Soller which is considered to be one of the most attractive towns in all of Spain with its main square lined with cafes and stunning architecture. After you fuel up, it's on to tackle the iconic climb up Puig Major, the highest peak on the island where enchanting views and a well-deserved recovery awaits you at the top. You'll have a scenic and net-downhill return to the hotel where the hotel spa awaits for a quick dip in the pool or hot tub before venturing out to dinner of your choice. Make sure to celebrate your day with a scoop or two of Gelato. You earned it!
Andratx to Campanet Approximately 69 mi | 111 km and 8,030 ft | 2,447 m
06 Lluc/Cap de Formentor
Today we meander to the northernmost point of the island, through historic Pollenca, and out along the Formentor Peninsula. Along the way, you'll experience some of the most rugged and natural landscapes with spectacular cliff views, vivid turquoise Mediterranean hues, and possibly a goat sighting! You'll be surrounded by other cyclists on their way out to the famous lighthouse, awaiting your arrival at the end of the peninsula. You'll feel the burn in your legs as you churn the gears through the miles today, but the imagery is worth every pedal stroke so don't forget to look up and smile. Celebrate your trip with dinner at Monnebar Nou, where the Chef prepares each meal with ingredients sourced from the estate's organic farm.
Lluc/Cap de Formentor Approximately 66 mi | 106 km and 6,260 ft | 1,908 m
Cap de Formentor Approximately 53 mi | 85 km and 4,420 ft | 1,347 m
07 Choose from one of our self-guided rides such as the Magdalena Loop
It’s sadly time to say goodbye to your Mallorca cycling trip. Be sure to put in one last fantastic ride with one of our many self-guided ride options or choose the warm-down spin to the historic chapel of Magdalena. A gentle climb takes you up to a monastery at the top, the Ermita Santa Magdalena, which has 13th Century origins. It is traditional in Mallorca to walk up to this chapel on Angel Sunday, the week after Easter Sunday. One last spin back to Monnebar Nou where days ago felt foreign will now feel like a home away from home.
Magdalena Loop Approximately 25 mi | 40 km and 1,600 ft | 487 m

How to Get There
Meeting location:, meeting time:, say farewell, fly out of:, departing location:, departing time:, all details.
We suggest that you arrive at least one day prior to the trip start, which will enable you to adjust to the time zone and minimize the risk of missing the trip start due to flight-related delays. We recommend that you fly in to Palma de Mallorca (PMI).
You can find connections to this airport from many major European cities, although Barcelona, Spain is the closest (a 45-minute flight) and a great place to visit before and after your trip.
There are multiple ways to transfer to the Monnaber Hotel from Palma Airport. Car rentals are available and strongly recommended as our trip hotel is somewhat remote. Alternatively, taxis are plentiful and operate 24 hours a day from within Palma. Transfer from PMI to Monnaber Nou is approximately 75 euros for 1-4 passengers. Trek Travel recommends Mallorca Private Transfers shuttle service to the hotel. Reservations can be made through https://www.mallorcaprivatetransfers.com You may also consult the Palma airport website at www.palmaairport.info/ for more transportation information.
Please note that some European rental companies are now requiring an International Driving Permit. AAA is one of only two private entities in the U.S. authorized by the U.S. Department of State to issue an IDP.
Your Trek Travel staff will meet you at the Monnaber Nou Eco Hotel (Possessió Monnaber Nou, 07310 Campanet) at 11:00 AM on the first day of the Mallorca cycling trip. Upon meeting your guides and getting checked into the hotel, we will ensure you have a great fit to your Trek bike for the week and give you a few pointers before you head off on a self-guided warm-up ride.
If you will be late for the meeting time, or are going to miss it altogether, please inform your guides. You will receive an email a week before the trip start with their names and contact details. If you cannot reach them, please call our hotel, Monnaber Nou Eco Hotel (+34 971 877 176), and leave a message with your expected arrival time and contact details. You may take a taxi to Monnaber Nou Eco Hotel in Campanet, for approximately 60 euros.
You will say farewell to your guides at 11:30 AM at the hotel. Please be sure to book transportation to your departure airport prior to the end of your trip.
The use of your Trek Travel bike ends at 11:30 AM on day of departure, and in some cases, may be needed for another guest arriving that day. Extensions may be available upon request but cannot be guaranteed before your trip begins.
Planning For Your Trip
Packing and weather.
On our Mallorca cycling trip, the average temperatures are 55F-65F with evening temperatures dropping 5-10 degrees cooler. Late spring brings much warmer temperatures, but being an island, Mallorcan weather can be unpredictable at times and the island can experience odd rain showers and coastal winds. It is advisable to bring warm layers and also rain gear. Packing List
Traveling to Spain: Dining
The Spanish tend to eat much later and spend more time dining compared to other Europeans and North Americans. Lunch can start between 1:30 – 2:30 pm and last an hour and a half or longer. Dinner can start between 8:00 – 9:00 pm and can last an hour or longer. It is common to enjoy conversation, coffee, or drinks after a meal, known as sobremesa in Spanish.
How is a Ride Camp different than a regular Trek Travel vacation?
Ride Camps are a mix of guided and self-guided trips. The focus of our Ride Camps is to train and build your base miles for your cycling season. As a result our rides are focused on the physical dimension and not the sightseeing, so we anticipate that all guests will have a good level of physical ability and be sufficiently prepared to comfortably ride a variety of challenging terrain. We also assume that guests are more self-sufficient than our 'all-inclusive' style regular trips. Each morning you'll begin your ride between 8-9 AM and return sometime between 2-5 PM depending on the length of the ride and your ability level. Depending on your riding level you may or may not have a guide with you. A support vehicle will be on each day’s featured ride at scheduled stops, but you'll want to be sure you carry appropriate layers and food for your ride. Once you return to the hotel, the afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish. Trek Travel staff will ensure that your bike is in excellent condition for the next day's ride. You are welcome to dine at your leisure and any non-riding activities that you'd like to take advantage of can be organized through the hotel concierge and are at your own expense.
Guide and vehicle support varies depending on the size of the group. So whether you’re two or thirty riders you’ll never be far from a flat assist or a boost up that final climb.
• 1 – 4 guests: 1 guide
• 5 – 24 guests: 2 guides
• 25 – 30 guests: 3 guides

Can Trek Travel arrange a pre- or post-night stay at a hotel?
We recommend booking your pre- or post-night stay directly with the hotel. You may choose to stay at the same hotel as the trip or a different hotel of your choice.
Please note: we do not contract rates outside of our trip dates and the hotel will honor the best available rate. The hotels do not receive our rooming lists until we're within three months of departure so if they do not see your name in their system, do not worry. If you pass along your hotel booking confirmation number to your trip consultant, we will add it to your reservation. We will request the hotel keep you in the same room, subject to their availability.

Guaranteed to run
With one person booked on a date, the trip becomes guaranteed.*
In the case where trips are at one or two guests, we will contact you prior to final payment to give you the following options:
Pay a small trip fee of $500 per person for two guests or $1000 for one guest, which ensures your preferred trip date will run. If there are three or more guests before departure date, the fee will be refunded in full.
Switch to a different trip or different departure date. Should there be any difference in trip price between your original trip and the new one, you will be expected to pay the difference, or we will refund you accordingly.

The guide will support all rides with a Trek Travel van. If you would like to discuss the option of having two guides, please speak with your trip consultant.
The small trip supplement for Ride Camps is as follows – for two guests an additional $250 or for one guest an additional $500.
* Cross Country, Discover, Race, and Special Edition trips as well as a small number of select departures have a minimum guest count to guarantee. Please check with your Trip Consultant for more information.

Before and After Your Trip
Before: Barcelona, Spain
The Catalonian capital of Barcelona boasts a beautiful coastline; a great diversity of culture, leisure, and shopping; creative, innovative gastronomy; and an avant-garde spirit. Be sure to check out some of the fantastic architecture and art of Antonio Gaudi, such as Sagrada Familia or Parc Guell. The Gothic quarter is the heart of Barcelona’s old town, with narrow cobblestone streets on which Picasso and Miró lived long ago. Las Ramblas is a long tree-lined shoppers’ paradise that leads to the sea. Be sure not to miss the fascinating Boqueria market as well. We recommend the following accommodations for your pre-trip hotel:
Opened in 1994, Hotel Arts Barcelona has a unique location on the seafront in the city’s Olympic Village area. It’s one of the two tallest buildings in Barcelona, with contemporary interiors and a showcase of the 20th-century collection of specially commissioned works of Catalan and Spanish artists.
A 19th-century building converted into a cozy 25-room hotel. In the multicultural neighborhood of El Raval, just a few steps from the famous La Boqueria market, Casa Camper is the perfect location to indulge in Barcelona’s vibrant nightlife. You can do this actively by using one of the Casa Camper’s bicycles, or by enjoying the spectacular view across the city from the rooftop terrace.
An innovative minimalist hotel fusing modern design with state of the art technology. Their rooftop terrace has magnificent panoramic views of the city. It is located close to many major tourist attractions and enjoys excellent connections with the airport and metro system.
After: Palma, Mallorca
Mallorca – the older, more mature sibling of the party-focused Balearic Islands. Of course, you’ll be able to find a great bar or nightclub in Palma, but that’s not all this great island has to offer. With its idyllic turquoise Mediterranean waters, warm golden cliffs, and secluded beach coves, hiking trails through the Tramuntana Mountains, and vast plains of almond groves, orange groves, olives, and vineyards, you’ll surely be able to entertain yourself for a few days surrounding your Trek Travel Ride Camp trip. We recommend the following accommodations for your post-trip hotel:
Hotel Jaime III
Hotel Jaime III is an art-centric hotel, located in the heart of the city near the popular shopping area and the old town of Palma. The hotel is also just meters away from the Contemporary Museum of Art “Es Baluard”. You’ll have easy access to plenty of shopping, exploring, and dining with a modern, comfortable place to rest your head at the end of the day.
Boutique Hotel Posada Terra Santa
This boutique hotel is a symbol of elegance, comfort, design, and the latest technology on the island. It is truly exceptional among hotels in Palma de Mallorca. Wellness area, heated pool, chill-out rooftop, fitness center, library, highly-acclaimed restaurant, and 26 exclusive rooms designed to make each visitor feel like a guest of honor.
Convent de la Missio
Surrounded by landscaped courtyards and narrow streets of the old town of Palma, the Convent de la Missio is a former 17th century monastery turned exclusive hotel. Beautiful, distinguished, and accented with art, you’ll enjoy the tranquility and harmony this space provides.
