Heesen Yachts is proud to announce that on May 1, 2015 YN 17255 was launched during a private ceremony at their facility in Oss. The owners christened their new yacht M/Y Azamanta.

The close collaboration between Heesen and the owner’s family office Bilderlings Wealth – representing the owner and managing the project throughout the construction – resulted in the smooth construction of a unique vessel: the world’s first Fast Displacement steel-hulled yacht over 50 metres. Azamanta, whose Fast Displacement Hull Form was developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects in collaboration with Heesen Yachts in house naval architects, will reach the remarkable maximum speed of 16.5 knots with a range of 4,500 nm at a cruising speed of 13 knots. She will set a benchmark in terms of efficiency: propelling around 600 tonnes of steel and aluminium at 15 knots with only 600kW of power. Azamanta is the expression of a passionate and experienced yacht owner who built a yacht to travel the globe and explore exotic destinations with family and friends. Her ice-reinforced Fast Displacement steel hull will enable her passengers to safely, comfortably and efficiently cruise also in high latitudes. The bold exterior lines are by Omega Architects with vertical windows and numerous glass insertions in the bulwarks to allow more natural light to flood the interior. Omega's design has been cleverly engineered and meticulously executed by Heesen’s in-house experts; the superstructure aft, for example, is completely free from pillars, offering uninterrupted views of the sea. Azamanta has plenty of outdoor spaces for guests to indulge in the pleasures of life at sea. The sundeck is extremely spacious: 110 sqm are furnished with bespoke furniture pieces and a high level of design details that make this area perfect for high-end receptions. Thanks to a rigid cover that can be placed on top of the Jacuzzi, it can be transformed into a stage for live music performances and is complemented by a high-fidelity and powerful sound system. The 70 sqm owner’s private terrace is located forward. Three built-in sofas surround the dining table to accommodate up to six guests for private dining also when the yacht is docked stern to in port. Tenders and toys are conveniently stored in the forward garage and launched through gull-wings doors on each side. This leaves space in the lazarette for a wide beach club and gym with a generous swim platform for owner and guests to swim and relax right at the sea’s edge. The owner’s passion for Metropolitan-style Art Déco together with his love for flora and fauna motifs are the two main points that Sinot Design has developed and interpreted to create Azamanta’s unique interior. The contrast of dark patterned wood with light silk custom-designed fabrics, enhances the Art Déco theme and creates a very homey environment. Twelve guests are accommodated in six cabins. The master suite is traditionally located on the main deck forward and features a recessed balcony on the starboard side. The remaining cabins are on the lower deck and include a full-beam VIP alongside two twins and two doubles. All cabins have ensuite bathrooms, each of them decorated with unique wall mosaics.

Azamanta will be intensively tested in the North Sea and is due to be delivered to her owners in July 2015

Heesen delivers Azamanta, the first of its kind

Heesen Yachts  has delivered the world’s first fast displacement steel-hulled yacht larger than 50 metres LOA. The 55 metre yacht was launched and christened Azamanta during a private ceremony at the Heesen shipyard in Oss, The Netherlands, in May and was delivered to her owner today (July 10).

Previous large yachts featuring the innovative Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF), developed by Van Oossanen Naval Architects , such as the award-winning 65 metre Galactica Star , have been constructed entirely in aluminium.

Built to meet the owner’s brief for a yacht to travel the world with family and friends, Azamanta has an ice-reinforced steel hull. She also stands out with a gold-hued hull colour.

Heesen sold its first 55 metre FDHF yacht, hull No YN 17255, in February 2013. The new yacht was conceived to increase performance while reducing an environmental footprint. With the FDHF, she is designed to go faster than steel yachts in her class, but also to burn up less fuel and achieve a greater range and speed.

According to Heesen, she “sets a benchmark for efficiency” – Azamanta will propel her 600 tonnes mass at 15 knots using only 600kW of power. She will reach top speeds of 16.5 knots with a range of 4,500 nautical miles cruising at 13 knots.

As Azamanta will be used to explore around the world, she has been designed with a focus on uninterrupted views. Her exterior lines are by Omega Architects , who have given the yacht a plentitude of vertical windows and glass bulwarks to let light flow in. Working with Heesen’s in-house team, Omega also intelligently engineered the superstructure to be entirely free of pillars so there are uninterrupted views of the sea and surroundings beyond.

Azamanta also boasts massive outdoor living spaces, such as the 110 square metre sun deck, which is decked out with custom furniture. The Jacuzzi can be concealed with a rigid cover and convert into a stage for live performances; accompanied by a high-fidelity sound system, this transforms the sun deck into the ideal party venue. The owner also enjoys a 70 square metre private terrace forward with a six-top dining table for privacy when the yacht is moored stern-to in port.

Sinot Design has styled the interior, which is inspired by the owner’s passion for Metropolitan-style art deco and his love for nature. This plays out with an interesting contrast of dark patterned wood, light silks, custom designed fabrics and art deco décor that blends to create a welcoming atmosphere.

The master suite, set on the main deck forward, features a recessed balcony. Ten more guests are accommodated in en suite staterooms on the lower deck.

Heesen, M/Y Azamanta, Azamanta, the world’s first Fast Displacement steel-hulled yacht over 50 metres

Project yn 17255, the 55m fast displacement megayacht named azamanta, is the world’s first fast displacement steel-hulled yacht over 50 metres, built by the dutch shipyard heesen in oss..

On July the 10th, the shipyard successfully concluded its intensive sea trials in the North Sea and delivered M/Y Azamanta to her owners in international waters. Azamanta’s sea trials took place on June 17–18 in moderate sea conditions and with winds that started south-westerly, increasing and turning north-westerly after the passage of a cold front.

The megayacht, whose Fast Displacement Hull Form was developed by Van Oossanen in collaboration with Heesen Yachts in-house naval architects, exceeded the contractual speed by 0.4 knots, reaching a top speed of 16.9 knots. Propelling around 600 tonnes of steel and aluminium at 15 knots with only 1.650kW of power, the yacht has proved to be a benchmark in terms of efficiency.

Bilderlings Wealth , representing the owner and managing the project throughout the build, says:

The bold exterior design by Omega Architects is characterised by chiselled, sharp lines. The superstructure is adorned by “the shark tooth”, a smart design signature on the overhang of the wheelhouse that lends Azamanta a powerful personality.

Vertical windows – new to the Heesen’s aesthetics – and numerous glass insertions in the bulwarks allow more natural light to flood the interior and significantly improve the indoor/outdoor connection, offering great views of the sea even when seated in the sky lounge.

Omega’s clean design without fashion plates and supports has been cleverly engineered and meticulously executed by Heesen’s in-house experts; the superstructure aft, for example, is completely free from pillars, offering uninterrupted ocean vistas.

Azamanta has  Van Oossanen’s Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF)  engineered together with Heesen’s in-house naval architecture team for efficiency, comfort, and speed. Her exterior lines come from Omega Architects .

The ice-reinforced yacht was made to travel around with 600 tons of comfort, luxury and interior design by Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design . She is powered by 2 x 1380 kW MTU diesel engines that power her up to 16.9 knots and a possible range of 4,500 nautical miles

Azamanta  has space for up to 12 people including owners. The master suite is forward on the main deck and has retractable balconies. The owner’s area includes a private 70 sqm terrace in front of the bridge with sofas and dining area up to six guests to relax in privacy even when the is docked with the stern in the port. Under the terrace is the tender storage with gull-wing doors. This solution enables a beach club at the aft area.

The owner’s passion for Metropolitan style Art Déco and his love for flora and fauna motifs reflects the interior.

The five guest cabins with ensuites are located on the lower deck with full beam VIP suite. Each cabin is decorated with a unique mosaic wall.

Tenders and toys are conveniently stored in the forward garage and launched through gull-wings doors on each side. This leaves space in the lazarette for a wide beach club and gym with a generous swim platform for owner and guests to swim and relax right at the sea’s edge. The owner’s passion for Metropolitan-style Art Déco together with his love for flora and fauna motifs are the two main points that Sinot Design has developed and interpreted to create Azamanta’s unique interior. The contrast of dark patterned wood with light silk custom-designed fabrics, enhances the Art Déco theme and creates a very homey environment. Twelve guests are accommodated in six cabins. The master suite is traditionally located on the main deck forward and features a recessed balcony on the starboard side. The remaining cabins are on the lower deck and include a full-beam VIP alongside two twins and two doubles. All cabins have ensuite bathrooms, each of them decorated with unique wall mosaics.

Azamanta will be intensively tested in the North Sea and is due to be delivered to her owners in July 2015

The 55m/180'5" motor yacht 'Azamanta' was built by Heesen in the Netherlands at their Oss shipyard. Her interior is styled by Dutch designer design house Sinot Yacht Design and she was delivered to her owner in July 2015. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Omega Architects.

Guest Accommodation

Azamanta has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 suites comprising one VIP cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 14 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Onboard Comfort & Entertainment

Her features include beach club, gym and air conditioning.

Range & Performance

Azamanta is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 4000M53) 1,850hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 13 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 4,500 nautical miles from her 100,000 litre fuel tanks at 13 knots. Azamanta features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels. Her water tanks store around 25,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to Lloyds Register classification society rules, and is MCA Compliant.
