Motor Yacht of The Year: Artefact

Length: 80m Builder: Nobiskrug Naval architect: Nobiskrug Exterior design: Gregory C. Marshall Naval Architects Interior design: Reymond Langton Design

As the most hotly contested and coveted of all classes, this category is only open to the winners of the eight motor yacht classes covering displacement, semi-displacement and planing vessels. Almost inevitably, the judges’ attention almost always tends to be concentrated on the larger yachts that are often built without serious budgetary restriction, but this year several smaller yachts were very much in contention for key developments in their design and technology. But this award is emphatically a holistic one, considering every element of the yacht from appearance to build quality and technology, and in the final vote the judges were almost unanimous in choosing 80-metre Nobiskrug yacht Artefact as the Motor Yacht of the Year.

Praise has already been heaped upon this yacht as the winner of the second largest displacement class, but this award will further emphasise the outstanding craftsmanship, attention to detail and careful consideration that went into all aspects of her design and construction, through cutting-edge exterior and interior design, an innovative and practical general arrangement to environmental and technical considerations. The construction of a successful custom-built yacht depends on a number of factors, as well as excellent teamwork and communication between the yard and many exterior agencies. Above all, it requires a knowledgeable and far-sighted owner to drive the process towards the fulfilment of their wishes, and in this respect the build of Artefact was well served. The judges offer their congratulations to all those involved in the build of this remarkable yacht, a worthy winner of this most prestigious award.

Sailing Yacht of The Year: Geist

Length: 33.9m Builder: Spirit Yachts Naval architect: Sean McMillan; Spirit Yachts Exterior design: Sean McMillan Interior design: Tom Smith; Spirit Yachts; Rhoades Young Design

In previous years, several sailing yachts would have contested this award but, sadly, this year saw the launch of such a small number of “super-sailers” that all were accommodated in a single class. The effect of this was that the class winner would also be the winner of the Sailing

Yacht of the Year Award – with the proviso that the judges must agree that in all respects she was of equivalent standard to past winners of this award. With this agreed, the 33.9-metre Geist , built from FSC-certified timber by Ipswich-based Spirit Yachts, was declared the winner of the coveted prize.

The owner’s wish was for a yacht with classical beauty built with sustainable materials, while minimising the impact on the environment. Having previously owned a Spirit 52, he also knew that Spirit’s craftspeople and the design genius of the Lymington-based Rhodes Young Design had the necessary talent to execute his ideas, and he emerged from the build a satisfied customer.

The advanced technology present in this yacht is hidden away for aesthetic reasons, and it would be easy to miss, but this is the yacht’s environmental heart and should not be overlooked. Under power, Geist is propelled by a 100kW electric motor powered by four BMW lithium-ion battery banks that can propel it for 30 nautical miles at eight knots, or can feed the yacht’s household demand for four days. Under sail, the motors become shaft generators to recharge the batteries, which are then used to power the sailing systems. This yacht, the judges felt, was a refreshing mix of top quality, traditional beauty, innovative interior design and advanced technology and, as such, Geist truly deserves her accolade.

Refitted Yachts: Broadwater

Length: 56m Original builder: Feadship Refit yard: Huisfit (by Royal Huisman) Refit exterior design: Adam Voorhees Refit interior design: Adam Voorhees

Having been chosen as the winner via secret ballot, Broadwater , a 52-metre classic Feadship originally launched as Rasselas in 1994, was refitted by Royal Huisman’s Huisfit yard in Amsterdam. Slowed by the difficulties of the Covid-19 pandemic, the project took almost two years to complete. During this period her interior was transformed from being a panelled “Gentleman’s Club” with highly varnished woodwork, traditional mouldings and leather seating, to a spacious, bright and light modern style.

First, the stern was extended by four metres to allow for a beach club and swim platform and the sundeck having a three-metre extension. Next, the whole interior was updated, saving the original mahogany joinery but painting it white so that the process could be reversed should a future owner prefer a darker style. A new master suite, crew quarters and service areas were installed, and the bridge deck’s exterior dining area was enclosed in a winter garden to make it weatherproof. All lighting, IT systems and instrumentation were also replaced.

Rebuilt Yachts: Istros

Length: 42.1m Builder: De Vries Scheepsbouw Makkum Naval architect: De Voogt Naval Architects Exterior design: De Voogt Naval Architects Interior design: Van Geest Design

This class is reserved for yachts that have been given a completely new interior, machinery and systems, and just two of this year’s entrants – Istros and Rossiya – qualified to enter. Built by the De Vries Lentsch shipyard in 1954, Istros lay neglected since 2001, until her new owner decided to completely discard her decayed steel superstructure and strip her to a bare hull and totally rebuild her. Despite this being more costly than building afresh, the decision was justified by the accepted philosophy that such a process preserved the original identity of the vessel.

Delivered to the Feadship shipyard, the hull was meticulously measured to allow the use of modern 3D-design techniques. This done, a new superstructure was created in aluminium, and her interior and machinery was replaced during an 11-month stay in the yard – an incredibly short duration only made possible by six months of preparation before her arrival. Today, guests on Istros will experience the atmosphere of a 1950s yacht, with the period looks and elegant lines of yesteryear, but this is a classic with a modern heart that ensures the reliable functioning of every item of machinery and technology aboard.

Sailing Yachts: Geist

Length: 33.9m Builder: Spirit Yachts Naval architect: Sean McMillan Exterior design: Sean McMillan, Spirit Yachts Interior design: Tom Smith, Spirit Yachts; Rhoades Young

While she is not the bluewater cruising yacht of the type that tends to dominate this award, Geist is beautiful in a classical sense while showcasing a new and organic style of interior design. Like all the boats built by Spirit Yachts, her exterior design takes inspiration from the Golden Age, where long overhangs, low freeboard and flush decks reveal the majestic hull lines that once ruled the waves. In the judges’ view, the exterior’s notable operational feature is that her classic Bermudan rig and uncomplicated systems allow the yacht to be sailed by the owner and a few family and friends, rather than placing undue reliance on a professional crew.

“Build me a work of art” had been the owner’s request for the yacht’s interior, and Rhoades Young has delivered just that. Inspired by Antelope Canyon in Arizona, its flowing wooden walls create focal points within the rooms. But while the past may inspire her looks, Geist is technically modern with a minimal effect on the environment, with a 100kW electric motor and a wealth of other notable features including battery-powered sailing systems.

Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts 30m to 39.9m: SX112

Length: 34.2m Builder: Sanlorenzo Naval architect: Sanlorenzo Exterior design: Zuccon International Project Interior design: Studio Lissoni

As the owner made clear in his statement, it was the vast beach area at the Sanlorenzo SX112’s stern that initially attracted his attention, and our judges wholeheartedly agreed. The seamless beach area has a close connection to the main deck aft, a shaded beach lounge and is close to the water, making it the standout area of this yacht. Fold-down side platforms on each side of the stern serve to further increase the area of this deck, while providing an alternative route into the spacious gymnasium and lounge. This, the judges agreed, is a simply spectacular design that ideally meets the need for a close connection with the sea that is demanded by today’s yacht owners.

The yacht’s calm and sophisticated interior is also well-connected to the exterior surroundings through large windows that flood the interior with light. Long sightlines fore and aft also enhance the sensation of size and space that this outstanding yacht provides for those lucky enough to be aboard. Powered by four Volvo IPS3 units that feature a fully integrated propulsion and azimuthing pod drive, this yacht is also technically advanced as well as being one of the more environmentally friendly yachts of its size. These units provide a top speed of 23 knots and a range of 563 nautical miles, while at an economical 10 knots, the range more than triples to 1,574 nautical miles.

  • Almax : On board the World Superyacht Award-winning Sanlorenzo SX112 superyacht

Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts 40m and Above: Club M

Length: 40m Builder: Baglietto Naval architect: Baglietto Exterior design: Horacio Bozzo Interior design: Achille Salvagni

The judges had been attracted by Horacio Bozzo’s strikingly masculine exterior lines and Club M’ s fully featured, cutting-edge interior by Achille Salvagni, whose bright and modern design provides a satisfying blend of visual excitement and calm tranquillity. The judges particularly admired its huge and most unusual upper deck alfresco living area. This extends from bow to stern, with its semi-enclosed central portion shaded by a hardtop and edged by lowering side windows to offer a delightful inside-outside dining and conversation area, flanked by wide decks on either side that connect the fore and aft lounging zones.

The yacht’s chic interior also attracted many complimentary remarks from the judges, who praised the quality of finish and its well-conceived lighting as well as the soft curves that enhanced its rooms and much of its loose and inbuilt furnishings. This, they considered, is an ideal modern interpretation of elegant living conceived after close cooperation between the designer and the yacht’s owner, an experienced property developer. The modest maximum speed of 17.8 knots and an economical cruising speed of 12 knots that provides transatlantic range, is a good example of an environmentally friendly design.

Displacement Motor Yachts 499GT and Below, 30m to 39.9m: Aurelia

Length: 39.7m Builder: Cantiere Delle Marche Naval architect: Hydro Tec Exterior design: Hydro Tec Interior design: Paszkowski Design, Margherita Casprini

As the first of a new line of explorers from a specialist builder, CdM, Aurelia is labelled as a Flexplorer, as its 115m2 aft deck area can easily be reconfigured from a tender platform to other specialist roles, or into a beach club when the fold-down bulwarks greatly improve the visual connection with the sea. This and just about every other aspect of this yacht impressed the judges, including her purposeful exterior lines by Sergio Cutolo, efficient hull design from naval architects HydroTec, 1,500kW engines that squeeze a 5,000-nautical-mile range from her 60,000-litre tanks at 10 knots, and comfortable top speed of 14 knots.

Deeper investigation revealed a well-engineered A-frame tender launching system invisibly concealed beneath the aft deck and two pairs of stabilisers that provide useful redundancy for an explorer along with improved tracking. A good-sized bathing platform equipped with a practical passerelle/submersible platform, meanwhile, allows easy access to the water. The judges also admired the interior layout and sophisticated loft-style design by Francesco Paszkowski and, of course, the experienced owner, a second-time client of this yard.

  • Inside Aurelia : Cantiere delle Marche’s Flexplorer with a "peculiar" interior

Displacement Motor Yachts 499GT and Below, 40m and Above: Rebeca

Length: 40.8m Builder: Benetti Naval architect: P.L. Ausonio Naval Architect; Benetti Exterior design: RWD Interior design: Bonetti/Kozerski

The judges’ initial focus was on the 40.8m Benetti Oasis Rebeca ’s exterior design by RWD, which drew compliments for its stylish appearance and spacious, fully-featured decks. They unanimously admired the beach area at the yacht’s stern, where fold-down bulwarks and a submersible bathing platform/passerelle greatly increase its size and connection with the sea, while they considered the large six-square-metre, glass-backed infinity pool to be a rare feature for a yacht of this size.

The judges admired the seamless division between the outdoor living spaces and the spacious accommodation, designed by Bonetti/ Kozerski Architecture. This makes the most of the huge panoramic windows, many of them fully opening, and brings chic sophistication to a relaxed and uncluttered living space. Other notable features include a completely rethought wheelhouse with a minimalist steering console and floor-to-ceiling windows. The icing on the cake is its perfectly optimised naval architecture from P.L. Ausonio that provides a top speed of 18 knots, good seakeeping and a low fuel consumption of 89 litres per hour at its economical cruise of 11 knots.

Displacement Motor Yachts Between 500GT and 999GT: Blue II

Length: 56m Builder: Turquoise Yachts Naval architect: Hoek Design Exterior design: Hoek Design Interior design: Hoek Design; Vickers Studio; Dols & Co

Classic yachts gain universal praise for their looks, but many aspects of their design do not blend with modern technology or lifestyles. Inspired by the appearance of tugboats and buoy-laying vessels from the mid-20th century, Blue II ’s owner approached the modern-classic sailboat designer Andre Hoek to draw an eminently seaworthy, world- roaming, expedition yacht packed with tech for use in high latitudes, including the Northwest Passage. The success of this mission is reflected in the admiration of the judges, who were drawn by her elegant profile with bluff bow and canoe stern, which both emphasise her seaworthiness, topped by a modest yet practical superstructure. The judges also felt that her classically panelled interior, designed and decorated by Hoek and John Vickers Studio, complemented her exterior styling and exactly met the needs of an expedition yacht.

With her owners being passionate conservationists, Blue II had to be as environmentally friendly as possible, with diesel-electric propulsion and exhausts fitted with an advanced Selective Catalytic Reduction system to meet tough emission regulations. A single-screw configuration was chosen for efficiency, while the stern thruster provides emergency get-you-home propulsion.

Displacement Motor Yachts Between 1,000GT and 1,599GT: Alfa

Length: 70.2m Builder: Azimut Benetti Naval architect: Benetti Exterior design: Benetti Interior design: Luxury Projects - Laura Pomponi

The judge’s marking of each yacht in this category is divided into six segments covering every aspect of the vessel from exterior styling, interior and exterior design, quality of construction, layout and technical aspects, and Alfa had made her most significant gains in the fields of exterior styling and interior design. Her exterior, drawn by Benetti’s own design team who were also responsible for her naval architecture, fully satisfies today’s client demand for elegance and unity with the yacht’s maritime surroundings. Wrapped in a handsome, forthright profile cut with three strong horizontal lines of panoramic windows, the superstructure meets this demand with five large and distinct deck spaces containing every amenity, while a beach club set across the beam of her lower deck to provide cooling shade and easy access to the sea, is only revealed when its twin doors fold down from the hull’s sides. Her interior design, by Laura Pomponi, is modern and unfussy, and makes use of a restricted palette of soft, warm colours along with finely crafted wood, stone, leather and marble. This creates a sense of calm, richness and a connection with one’s surroundings that was particularly admired by the judges.

Displacement Motor Yachts Between 1,600GT and 2,999GT: Artefact

Length: 80m Builder: Nobiskrug Naval architect: Nobiskrug Exterior design: Gregory C Marshall Naval Architects Interior design: Reymond Langton Design

As a yacht with a daringly new and interesting exterior style, a great interior layout, cutting-edge interior design, excellent build quality and an environmentally aware propulsion system, the object of our judges’ desire was the 80-metre Artefact . The “wow” moment was when the judges first saw the yacht’s avant-garde exterior, penned by Canadian naval architect Greg C Marshall. The equally stunning interior was created by UK-based Reymond Langton Design with a design that integrates the distinctive window shapes and large expanses of glass with custom artwork, furniture and murals to create an inspiring passenger experience.

The unprecedented 750 square metres of glass draws the natural surroundings into master suites and common areas to infuse the interior with natural light and connect passengers to the environment around them. On the tech side, Artefact is equipped with diesel-electric propulsion that makes use of the innovative power generation technologies and digital power management specified by the owner, a keen engineer and ardent environmentalist. These allow the vessel to integrate multiple power sources, from solar cells, variable-speed generators and lithium-ion batteries, plus new technologies such as fuel cells.

Displacement Motor Yachts 3,000GT and Above: Moonrise

Length: 100m Builder: Feadship Naval architect: Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects Exterior design: Studio De Voogt; Rémi Tessier Interior design: Rémi Tessier

Moonrise , the judges felt, is a yacht whose exterior design, by Chris Bottoms from Studio de Voogt, displays a strong and attractive masculine character with a pleasingly clean line, which exhibits a wealth of attractive detailing as one approaches. Her deck areas provide just about every facility imaginable – including a helicopter landing area on the foredeck that the owner had not specifically requested. This far-sighted decision was made on the basis that the lack of such a facility might impact on its future resale price, and was immediately justified when Covid-19 restrictions forced the owner to make his first arrival by helicopter. As for the interior, Rémi Tessier created what the judges considered to be an admirable modern style, incorporating the truly luxurious touches for which he is famed. Painstakingly engineered to deliver Feadship’s high quality and low levels of noise and vibration, the judges agreed that Moonrise is a deserving winner of this highly competitive class.

Voyager’s Award: V6

Length: 48.5m Builder: Flyghtship

The last two years have not been an easy time for world cruisers, a circumstance clearly reflected in the fact that just three yachts submitted entries for this award. But one voyage stood out above the others for its foresight, planning and successful execution. In early 2020 the owner of the winning yacht anticipated the rapid spread and disruption that the pandemic would cause, and identified the need for what he called an “escape pod”.

The 48.5m New Zealand-built expedition yacht T6 was identified as a suitable craft and swiftly purchased with the assistance of Edmiston. With little time for a handover from the previous crew, and now renamed V6 , she made a transatlantic passage to the Canaries and was there joined by the owner and his family for a brief shakedown cruise, bringing with them all the water- sports equipment, cameras, drones, and scuba gear necessary for their main adventure. That completed, the yacht headed north, calling at Gibraltar, the Scilly Isles, Ireland, Scotland’s Western Isles, the Shetlands and Arctic Norway, often punching through extreme weather on a passage to the Svalbard archipelago lying at 77 degrees North in the Barents Sea. Thereafter it was all adventure, sighting polar bears, visiting the Brasvellbreen ice wall, and swimming, paddling and kite-surfing between icebergs. Now that’s the way to spend your lockdown in style, and it certainly impressed the judges.

Endurance 60 Yacht

Pardo Yachts: Endurance 60 is the winner of World Yachts Trophies 2021

Minimal Logo

Just think of the name of this yacht: “Endurance 60”. It evokes NASA’s Martian explorers. And rightly so. The flybridge also emulates a “hat” on the deckhouse, perhaps inspired by a more automotive design. It is sporty yet futuristic and, above all, very nautical. Moreover, the flybridge is crowned by a structural decoration made up of polarised glass windows at the bow, which are purposely inserted into a round steel handrail that borders the flybridge itself for greater safety.

Endurance 60: the main deck of an amazing yacht

main deck

What’s more, the beauty of Endurance 60 is instantaneous, but it changes in a metamorphosis depending on the setting. This is the case, for example, when the aft terraces open up at achor, turning the cockpit into an open space worthy of a contemporary theathre play. The teak-covered bulwarks create the perfect setting for nautical gaiety to be shared with friends. The boat’s profiles each have two windowed moustaches: a shorter one in the central area of the yacht with two portholes that provide light on the lower deck, and another one extending towards the bowh, this time with three portholes that can be used to ventilate the cabin facing the sea.

All this occupies a length of 18 meters, with a displacement of around 30 tons. Power comes from twin Volvo IPS 700 engines, which can deliver a top speed of 25 knots. There’s only one fertile mind behind this umpteenth advancement in Italian yachting: Davide Leone , the naval architect behind the Cantiere del Pardo project, while Nauta Design is responsible, as always, for the beautiful interiors. We’ve tested the Endurance 60 at sea and we’ll tell you all about it soon, but we can’t anticipate everything.

SUNSEEKER TRIUMPHANT AT THE 2023 WORLD YACHTS TROPHIES

Sunseeker received two awards at the 2023 World Yachts Trophies for its exceptional design innovation. The Superhawk 55 won ‘Best Exterior Design’ in the 45’ to 64’ category for its dynamic exterior profile and innovative lifestyle features. For its outstanding interior design, the Ocean 182 won the ‘Best Layout’ award in the 80′ to 98′ category. The Ocean 182 launched at Newport International Boat Show last week and has already received industry-leading recognition for the new floating penthouse concept and intelligent use of interior space.

The World Yachts Trophies recognises the best motor yachts launched this year. Sunseeker is a proud winner, receiving recognition from the prestigious jury panel. Sunseeker, alongside Sunseeker London Group, were presented with the trophies during a spectacular awards ceremony that welcomed the world’s leading industry professionals to the bay of Cannes.

Andrea Frabetti, Chief Executive Officer at Sunseeker International, commented: “Taking home two awards at this year’s World Yachts Trophies signifies the strength of Sunseeker’s approach to innovative design. We are thrilled to win awards for the latest product launches that have made waves worldwide. The World Yachts Trophies is one of the most prestigious international awards in the yachting industry. Receiving these awards is a great testament to our design, manufacturing and engineering teams for continuing to push the boundaries and deliver a world class product.”

Best Exterior Design – Superhawk 55

The sensational Sunseeker Superhawk 55 sets a new standard for style, practicality and the ultimate boat owner experience. A sculptured full-beam aft cockpit makes full use of the yacht’s incredible width, benefitting from generous configurable seating and concealed appliances integrated into the feature wet bar and optional rise and fall TV. The central helm transports the occupant of the driver’s seat to new heights. Experience the feel of weightlessness with uncompromised panoramic views while helming. Practicality is integral to every Sunseeker. Innovative pantograph doors on the port and starboard side offer protection from the elements, allowing the driver to focus on the horizon ahead. The foredeck is ready to host sunbathers and sundowners with day-to-night usability. A spacious large sun pad slides forward to reveal a table for even more seating, delivering versatility and flexible use of the space.

Best Layout – Ocean 182

The Ocean 182 epitomises the floating penthouse concept. Those who step on board are immediately met with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors on the starboard side and matching windows on the port side to provide uninterrupted views from bow to stern, connecting guests to the marine environment while enjoying the comforts of the interior. The main deck is a dedicated space for socialising and entertaining, offering 671 square feet of living space with a stunning collection of contemporary loose furniture to fill the space. There is flexibility to choose freestanding furniture that suits the owner’s requirements, from large U-shaped sofas to comfortable lounge seating.

The unique spiral staircase with minimalist stair treads contributes to an unimpeded view from the inside. Forward of the staircase resides the semi-open galley with a pantograph door to the port side deck. Comprehensively equipped with Miele appliances and an option to include additional refrigeration and a 34-bottle wine cooler, the galley offers incredible space and storage. On the starboard side, a generous dining table for eight guests and a bar forward becomes an ideal space for serviced or informal dining.

The fluidity between outdoor and indoor living spaces is unmatched in this yacht class. With retractable sliding doors, the upper deck can fully close to create a third indoor living space or left open to form an al-fresco balcony, offering the owner ultimate flexibility. The sole helm console on this yacht, situated on the upper deck, has not been seen on a Sunseeker before. Next to the helm, an L-shaped bar is conveniently located for service with crew or for owner use. The bar is well-equipped with refrigeration, ice maker and wash basin for convenience, servicing the indoor and outdoor upper deck spaces. Further aft, on the starboard side, there is an extension of the saloon with U-shaped seating and a fixed TV unit with storage on the port side. Beyond the upper saloon lies an outside space on the upper deck with loose lounge seating and expansive panoramic glazing offering far reaching views out to the horizon.

Below deck, the light and elegant accommodation comprises three well-appointed double cabins and a twin, all with en suite in a standard configuration. The full-beam owner’s cabin positioned amidships is an indulgent escape for the owner, whilst the forward VIP provides an equally luxurious experience for guests.

Offering a contemporary yet timeless interior, the Ocean 182 benefits from a highly customisable interior to suit the owner’s style and taste. The interior, curated in collaboration with Design Unlimited, is characterised by soft neutral tones and a sumptuous blend of textured materials. Every inch of this yacht is finished to an immaculate standard, showcasing recessed ambient mood lighting, stainless steel trim detailing, and specially designed feature bulkheads.

The 107m/ 351ft motor yacht LANA has been honoured with the coveted 'Yacht of the Year' title at the World Yacht Trophies in Cannes . She shares the accolade with 109m Oceanco superyacht 'Bravo Eugenia' .

Benetti's charter yacht LANA has stormed to victory in the 'Yacht of the Year' category for vessels measuring over 82m at the World Yacht Trophies.

The event took place at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Saturday 14 September, and was timed to coincide with the Cannes Yachting Festival 2019.

Both LANA and 'Bravo Eugenia' won the 'Yacht of the Year' title, in a joint win that reflects the high quality and stiff competition between the yachts at the show.

Yet to be delivered, LANA was formerly known as FB 277. She features exterior and interior by Benetti's in-house team, and she is expected to be hosting her first luxury yacht charters later this year.

The motor yacht has been kept largely under wraps since she first hit the water in December last year.  She features an elongated and elegant profile, characterized by sleek lines, wide windows and a plumb bow for improved seakeeping.

Both LANA and 'Bravo Eugenia' won the 'Yacht of the Year' title, in a joint win that reflects the high quality of all the yachts at the show.

Key on-board features include an oversized sundeck pool and touch n go helipad, as well as a beach club with twin fold-out sections on both sides of the beam to promote a harmony between the sea and the interior.

She features accommodation for 12 guests in eight cabins, which includes seven equally lavish VIP suites and a sumptuous owners' deck with balconies, dressing rooms and an interconnecting bathroom.

Charter club, news & events, azimut | benetti group wins six awards at world yachts trophies 2021..

Trideck Main Salon 2

During the gala dinner, awards were presented to some of the signature models built by the Group, which continues to stand out in the industry for the innovative design, indisputable glamour and advanced technology of its yachts.

The gala evening on September 11 was a milestone for Azimut|Benetti Group, which won some of the top awards at the World Yachts Trophies organized by SG Publications, the publisher of magazines Yachts France, Yachts Italia and Yachts Europe.

During the event, which was held as it is every year in Cannes with about 700 guests, 30 awards were made to winners chosen from 69 finalists. The panel of journalists, historians and yachting experts chose six models built by Azimut|Benetti Group, which continues year after years to see a rise in the number of awards received by its fleet.

In the 45 to 64-foot (13.70 to 19.50-meter) category, Azimut 53 Fly won the Best Interior Design award. Designed to offer a family the chance to organize long stays on board in complete comfort, not least because of a significant increase in both the space on board and its perception, the 53 Fly stands out for a day area laid out almost entirely on the same level, with the galley and the living area separated by a difference in height of just 25 centimeters, and for the great sense of airiness and freedom of movement this brings, which is enhanced by side windows that run uninterrupted right up to the windshield. The night area is also very generously sized, featuring a spacious owner’s suite midships and a particularly roomy VIP cabin offering much more storage space and distance between the bed and the bulkhead than the market average. In the 64 to 80-foot (19.50 to 24-meter) category, Azimut 68 Fly won the Best Layout award. Making her world debut at Cannes and designed in partnership with Alberto Mancini (exterior styling) and Achille Salvagni (interior design), the 68 Fly puts the owner’s desires front and center with three proposed layouts, the first of which has an elegant lounge at the entrance to the Main Deck, with the galley off to one side, separated by a solution that combines ribbing and plexiglass. The second version has an open-style galley for owners who prefer a less formal setting, while the last version has the galley at the entrance to the Main Deck to facilitate direct flow between interior and exterior, with the living area set apart towards the bow. The Azimut 68’s three interior layouts all have a multi-purpose area midships on the Main Deck. In the same category, Magellano 66 won the Best Interior Design award. For owners who refuse to put any limits on their cruising, the 66 is a modern long-range yacht, 20 meters in length, with hugely comfortable interiors and a layout that ensures a high level of privacy. The entire day area is all on the same level, with no steps, for free and safe movement. And with the stairways down to the Lower Deck positioned laterally in the midship section of the yacht, the wheelhouse and galley are separated from the rest of the day area, allowing the crew to go about their business without disturbing guests. On the Lower Deck, in addition to the owner’s stateroom, there are two guest cabins and a fourth “wildcard” space, which can be used as a storeroom for provisions, a garage for sports equipment, or an additional cabin with bunk beds.

In the category spanning yachts from 98 to 164 feet long (from 30 to 60 meters), Azimut Grande Trideck won the Best Interior Design award. Azimut’s new flagship, not to mention the largest yacht ever built by the shipyard and the first three-deck model in the range, the Trideck has interiors by Achille Salvagni, who abandons the preconception of attributing specific functions to the various areas and transforms the boat into a more fluid and shapeshifting space. The interiors have been expanded in width and perfectly integrated with the exteriors, each becoming an extension of the others. Salvagni doesn’t stop at redefining the onboard environments, but enriches them with a powerful effort in terms of the decor, putting the accent on the tension in the forms and the purity of clean lines. The perceived quality of the setting as a whole is of the highest level, thanks to the skilful alternation of materials, the refinement of how they are combined, and the choice of colours and finishes.

In the same category, the Best Innovation prize was awarded to Benetti Motopanfilo 37M, the ambitious project presented at Cannes which draws inspiration from the past and projects it into the future, bringing with it an approach to life and design that is typical of a certain period, along with references to the cultural heritage of Benetti and its most iconic yachts from the 1960s. The concept developed by the Shipyard, in concert with designer Francesco Struglia for the exterior styling and the firm Lazzarini Pickering Architetti for the interiors, has its raison d’être in the past but embraces the latest stylistic, technical and technological know-how to give the yacht a fresh and modern feel. For this extraordinary project, Benetti and Loro Piana Interiors have formed an important partnership in which the Maison has fitted out both the interiors and, in part, the exteriors of the the yacht, choosing classic fabrics for summer on the water and first and foremost linen, in warm white ‘Biancore’ tones with blue and malachite accents. Connemara was chosen for the upholstery and bed covers, while Papeete, in refined Malachite, is the choice for sommiers and pillows. Benetti Zazou, lastly, won the Best Layout award in the 164 to 270-foot superyacht category (50 to 82 meters). This 65-meter full custom yacht has sleek, flowing lines, a Carinthia blue steel hull, and an aluminium superstructure. The exterior styling is by Giorgio M. Cassetta, with interior and, in part, exterior design by Dutch firm Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. The yacht accommodates 12 passengers in 6 cabins and has has one of the largest Sun Decks in the category: over 20 meters long, it has a 5-meter long, 1.5 m deep infinity pool, a gym, a pantry, a head, a bar unit, a table seating 10 and a sunbathing area that can be converted into an open-air cinema. The sky lounge on the Upper Deck is perfectly integrated into the exterior spaces in the stern, while inside, on the same deck, a massage room that can be converted into a double cabin precedes the wheelhouse, with the ship office next to it and, on the port side, the captain’s cabin and a pantry. Aft on the Main Deck is an open area set aside for relaxation. In the interiors, the day area midships can be converted into a cinema and the owner’s suite also features a lounge and private balcony. The beach area on the Lower Deck provides access to the exterior and the beach club interiors, while a lounge area with low table, sofa and armchair is joined by a closed space in which to store the water toys. The night area midships provides three double cabins and one guest cabin (can be converted into a double), the galley and accommodation for a crew of 14. A lift connects all decks from the Lower to the Upper Deck.

The best motor boats and yachts launched during the year rewarded at the World Yachts Trophies 2021

@Sunseeker International at @The World Yachts Trophies 2021

The World Yachts Trophies gala dinner organized by SG Publications, the publisher of magazines Yachts France, Yachts Italia and Yachts Europe rewards the best motor boats and yachts from 13 to 140 meters launched during the year. Around thirty trophies are awarded during the Gala dinner, followed by the legendary and unique Yachts Parade, a night ballet of the most beautiful yachts in the bay of Cannes, France.

The gala evening on September 11 was a milestone for Azimut|Benetti Group, Ferretti Group and Sunseeker. These yachting powerhouses have won some of the top awards at the World Yachts Trophies 2021. During the event, which was held as it is every year in Cannes with about 700 guests, 30 awards were made to winners chosen from 69 finalists.

Sunseeker International announced an incredible trio of wins at the World Yachts Trophies 2021 by Yachts France Magazine for three of its latest models.

The Sunseeker 65 Sport yacht won the award for the Best Exterior Design in the 64′ – 80′ category, the Sunseeker 88 yacht won the award for the Best Exterior Design in the 80′ – 98′ category and the Sunseeker 90 Ocean won the award for the Best Layout in the 80′ – 98′ category.

“The influential awards we see today, are a result of the journey we started decades ago via the team that John Braithwaite built. Whilst the talented group of over 100 designers and engineers has grown over the years, there is continuity in our design language that John was so influential in developing. To win not one, but three awards, is an incredible achievement for the company. These fantastic new models have been justifiably recognised for their remarkable features, innovation, cutting-edge design and technical excellence. This is the culmination of a great deal of hard work, talent and passion by the entire workforce; the credit rests with each and every one of them. These three cutting-edge yachts are part of the ‘Sunseeker Famous Five’ that the company launched earlier in the year and are now receiving critical acclaim and sales the world over as they make numerous show debuts”. – Andrea Frabetti, CEO of Sunseeker International.

PEARL YACHTS WINS AT THE WORLD YACHT TROPHIES 2023

Pearl Yachts is pleased to announce its recent achievement at the World Yacht Trophies 2023, hosted in Cannes by the French media Yachts France. The Pearl 72, has secured a notable win in the 19-24m Best Interior category, marking another significant success for the brand.

The Pearl 72 , featuring the latest edition of Bill Dixon’s coordinated exterior design and naval architecture, as well as the celebrated new interior design theme “Indulgence” by Kelly Hoppen CBE, has garnered attention for its exceptional design and craftsmanship since its launch last November. The victory at the awards underscores its position as a standout yacht in its category.

The announcement was made last Saturday during the World Yachts Trophies gala dinner, in Cannes.

The Pearl 72, with its two master cabins and the stunning and unique open plan saloon layout, boasts an interior design scheme crafted by Kelly Hoppen CBE, featuring the “Indulgence” style, complemented by the sleek and modern exteriors designed by Bill Dixon. Notably, the vessel offers generous spaces, including an exceptional garage capable of accommodating a William 345 tender and a jet ski. These distinctive features have earned the Pearl 72 recognition from the jury, acknowledging its uniqueness and exceptional quality.

Margaret Whittaker OBE, Owner of Pearl Yachts, in her speech at the award ceremony stated, “Pearl yachts are exceptional, and have been designed and built to a consistently high standard by exceptional people. Every yacht demonstrates the love that has gone into the build of every model and everyone and I do mean everyone, who has played their part, has always put their heart and soul into it and I believe you can not only see that. This award holds particular significance as it coincides with our celebration of a quarter-century anniversary, marking 25 years of excellence in our journey. We look forward to continuing our legacy of crafting exceptional luxury yachts.”

Iain Smallridge, Managing Director of Pearl Yachts, stated, “We are honored to receive this award. The Pearl 72 is a testament of our commitment to excellence in the world of yachting. Pearl’s philosophy as a boutique yacht builder is centered around creating a low volume of high-quality yachts. Each model incorporates unique features to its sector of market, and all are backed by our industry leading 5-year warranty. This approach not only secured the award but also distinguishes Pearl from other shipyards, garnering recognition in the market.”

Pearl Yachts remains committed to pushing the boundaries and redefining luxury in the world of yachting. This award reflects the shipyard’s dedication to excellence and the position among the industry’s most respected brands.

The Pearl 72 represents the latest addition to the Pearl fleet, garnering significant attention from media worldwide and achieving remarkable commercial success. Soon to follow is the Pearl 82, currently in construction and set for an anticipated launch in 2024.

Pearl 72. Layout Leader

In terms of layout, the new Pearl 72 makes a unique introduction to the size-class: two Master Cabins. One is forward with a private entrance, as typically seen on much larger yachts, and the second is full beam amidships. In addition to providing an ideal solution for co-owners who enjoy the yacht together, the innovative layout allows owners to enjoy a beautiful view even when moored stern-to in a marina.

For its outstanding interior design, the Ocean 182 won the 'Best Layout' award in the 80' to 98' category.

Andrea Frabetti, Chief Executive Officer at Sunseeker International, commented:

“Taking home two awards at this year’s World Yachts Trophies signifies the strength of Sunseeker’s approach to innovative design.

Best Exterior Design - Superhawk 55

The sensational Sunseeker Superhawk 55 sets a new standard for style, practicality and the ultimate boat owner experience. A sculptured full-beam aft cockpit makes full use of the yacht's incredible width, benefitting from generous configurable seating and concealed appliances integrated into the feature wet bar and optional rise and fall TV. The central helm transports the occupant of the driver's seat to new heights.

There is flexibility to choose freestanding furniture that suits the owner's requirements, from large U-shaped sofas to comfortable lounge seating.

The full-beam owner's cabin positioned amidships is an indulgent escape for the owner, whilst the forward VIP provides an equally luxurious experience for guests.

Offering a contemporary yet timeless interior, the Ocean 182 benefits from a highly customisable interior to suit the owner's style and taste.
