Yachting World
- Digital Edition
Yachting World has had its finger on the pulse of sailing since 1894 (though some of us joined a little more recently). We reckon we are the most enthusiastic sailing fans in the world: we love boats of all kinds, modern and classic, we like racing and cruising, are fascinated by innovation yet revere tradition, and nothing that floats is too big or too small for our tastes.
Every day online and every month in print we bring you the very best in adventurous sailing, whether that be bluewater cruising, ocean racing, high latitudes exploring, or anything in between, and we pride ourselves on our independent tests, in-depth reports and top quality photo journalism.

Toby has sailed with his family on various craft since his earliest memories allow, before racing and teaching on dinghies in Devon throughout his school years. After completing his English Degree he became a deckhand aboard superyachts – sailing in the Med, Red Sea, UAE, Indian Ocean, and Atlantic and gaining his Yachtmaster qualification.
Toby spent five years writing for Yachting Monthly, before leaving his post as Technical Editor to spend a year down under. As Test Editor, Toby is responsible for the boat testing programme, as well as the gear section of the magazine, including New Gear and more extensive gear and equipment articles.
As a teenager Julian restored a 16ft wooden motorboat and then went on to an apprenticeship as a boatbuilder in New Zealand before switching careers and entering journalism. As a reporter on a national daily newspaper he covered everything from politics to royal tours. Saturday afternoons spent working on a sister sports paper meant reporting on international car rallies, rugby and sailing and motorboat racing events on the Hauraki Gulf. He has since worked for an aerospace magazine, regional newspapers and been editor of a successful free weekly.
Julian was more recently production editor for Practical Boat Owner where his practical boating knowledge proved particularly useful.

Toby was born to a dinghy racing family and was surrounded by sailing more-or-less from birth. He received his first boat – a bright red Optimist dinghy – for his fourth birthday and has been out on the water as often as possible from then on. He has won World and National titles and captained his University sailing team. It was during his time at university he discovered keelboat racing and continues to sail big and small boats to this day.
After leaving university in 2005 he got a job writing for an online sailing publication and has continued writing for both cruising and racing publications ever since, covering two Olympic Games and other events across the globe.

9 Newsletters To Stay Up To Date On The Yachting Industry
Stay informed on boating news and events..
Never underestimate the value of a great email newsletter. As readers, it’s an excellent tool to organize and receive news on topics you enjoy following. As a business, it’s a great way to connect with customers. The content in newsletters is usually concise, easy to read, and niche. We already know the best Instagram accounts and the best YouTube channels to follow if you enjoy yachting, so we gathered 9 newsletters to help you stay up to date on the marine industry. These publications, associations, and businesses offer valuable information to yachting and boating enthusiasts.
1. Boat International
Boat International offers not one, not two, but four separate newsletters to readers. You can choose to subscribe to Boat International news, brokerage headlines, luxury travel and lifestyle content, or event updates. It’s a great range of topics to help you engage with the yachting industry.
2. BoatTEST
As the name implies, BoatTEST conducts reviews on new boats to share with a larger audience. When you create a member account, you’ll gain access to a library of boat tests and the free newsletter, which organizes each video and article so you don’t miss a beat. BoatTEST is a great resource to learn about complex products and new boats on the market, including Beneteau and Bertram . Of course, members and long time followers can appreciate that signature “see you on the water” sign off from Captain Steve.
3. Beneteau
There’s a lot of good news surrounding Beneteau , so it makes sense to receive it all in one place. The new boat brand offers a newsletter that shares industry interviews, boat tests, and event updates. Stay informed about the latest news surrounding Gran Turismo , Swift Trawler , Oceanis , and Monte Carlo yachts, plus how to get the most out of your next sailing or powerboat purchase.
4. Soundings Trade Only Today
If you’re interested in staying up to date on marine industry businesses and daily news, then Soundings Trade Only Today is an excellent resource. The online publication offers two newsletters, one focusing on industry news, the other on marine jobs. The Marine Jobs newsletter compiles classified listings of marine companies searching for new employees or eager to sell their businesses or equipment. That’s handy for anyone curious about entering or making a career change in the industry.
5. Southern Boating
Southern Boating offers a free monthly, subscription-based email newsletter called Southern Exposure . It’s delivered directly to your inbox between each issue release. This yachting newsletter features interviews with people in the marine industry, DIY projects, onboard recipes, new boat launches, marina spotlights, product releases, and more. It’s a great variety of exclusive editorial content.
6. YACHTS International
YACHTS International offers two newsletters, depending on what you want to learn about. The Making Waves Today newsletter is the publication’s signature, a biweekly newsletter filled with yachting news, exclusive features, and popular stories. The other newsletter simply provides the latest updates from YACHTS International on the release of new magazine issues and information about upcoming events.
7. National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA)
NMMA Currents is a daily newsletter covering breaking news in the boating industry. The newsletter offers insights on boat shows, public policy, the economy, boat certification, and more. It’s a particularly great resource to stay informed on recreational boating because the association collects, analyzes, and distributes industry, economic, and market data to members.
8. Power & Motoryacht
Power & Motoryacht offers one daily newsletter or one weekly newsletter, depending on how often you want to receive industry news. The marine publication delivers a variety of content on boats, geat, maintenance, sportfishing, and destinations. It’s an excellent resource to receive valuable information on the yachting industry so you can fully enjoy life on the water.
9. Denison Yachting

About this offer
I can't find the subscriptions offer I'm looking for.
If the promotion you have seen is still valid but not showing on screen, you can try to change the offer by clicking here . You will need to enter a specific code you've been sent, which are typically 4 or 5 characters long.
Why does pricing vary from country to country?
All items purchased include the cost of delivery within the price. As the cost of postage can vary quite significantly between different regions and mailing locations, this is reflected in the price.
How do you guarantee lowest prices?
Magazinesdirect.com is owned and run by Future Publishing Limited who publish all the magazines on the site. As such, we can guarantee our prices are lower than you will find elsewhere.
What is a 'rolling subscription'?
A rolling subscription provides continuous service until you choose to cancel. This means that you'll benefit from uninterrupted deliveries and you'll never miss an issue again. If you change your mind, you can cancel the auto-renewal at any time and you'll only receive the remaining issues for which you've already paid.

Hanse 410 first look: Another mid-size cruiser slots into this competitive market
- March 13, 2024
There appears to be no slowing down of the competition between the major boatyards when it comes to building new mid-size cruising yachts, and the Hanse 410 is yet another to come to market
While 32ft might have been a big boat a few decades ago, 40-42ft is the new normal and the Hanse 410 is another 40 footer coming to market this year that slots into that competitive field.
This development is driven in part by consumers wanting more space and comfort from their coastal getaway, and in part by the economics of boat building making smaller boats harder and harder to build with any kind of profit.
The Hanse 410 then will be going up against the Dufour 41 , Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 410 , Beneteau Oceanis 40.1 and the Bavaria C42 , amongst others.
Up to 20 hatches and windows ensure huge amounts of light and ventilation
So it is that German yard Hanse have pitched their latest new model bang in the middle of a range that spans from the 315 up to the 588.
The Hanse 410, like others of this generation (denoted by the final numeral ‘0’ rather than a 5 or an 8), is designed by Berret-Racoupeau, with a focus on squeezing in as much volume as possible thanks to the very full sections forward as well as aft.
There will be the usual generous headroom, plus hull chines above the waterline both fore and aft, In line with modern trends, to push out the corners of the accommodation space, allowing for double berths to extend into the ends of the hull while remaining almost rectangular.
Article continues below…
First look: Dufour 41 – better performance and simpler maintenance
The new Dufour 41 follows hot on the heels of the Dufour 37 in terms of design, focusing on more…
Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 410
Is there a serious cruiser behind the new Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 410's bold looks? Graham Snook went to find out
The theory is that the waterline remains narrow, while giving the hull more form stability when heeled.
Often, the extra volume results in less slamming in waves than you’d have thought, and the extra power compensates for the loss of a fine entry, albeit with a small sacrifice in pointing ability.
Looking at the polars, the self-tacking jib will have you up to 6.5 knots at 35º to the apparent wind with 10 knots over the deck. With a furling offwind sail, you’ll be nudging over 9 knots in 20 knots of true wind on a beam reach – that’s with the standard keel and before you’ve weighed the boat down with cruising clobber.
Thanks to fuller bow sections, the rudder remains more fully submerged when heeled
While the Hanse of old were narrower boats, the brand still prides itself on an enjoyable and rewarding sailing experience, albeit as simple to handle as possible, so this boat still has an adjustable backstay to let you trim the rig, even if all the other controls are taken aft to the helm, ducted through a channel in the cockpit coamings.
Space on deck is vast, with the twin cockpit tables and L-shaped seating. The tables can be lowered to form two big sunpads in the cockpit, while a large bathing platform folds down at the stern. In a bid to offer more sustainable propulsion options, Elvstrom sails made largely from recycled materials are available, as is electric propulsion and methanol fuel cell power generation.
A raft of 18 accommodation layout options includes: a heads in the forward owner’s cabin (or a dressing table and large wardrobe); either one or two aft double cabins, the latter of which turns the port quarter into a large stowage locker accessed from a door aft of the galley as well as from on deck; a starboard saloon settee that can be shortened to accommodate either an aft-facing chart table or an outboard-facing stowage locker beneath a standing chart table.
There’s easy access to the water via a stepped bathing platform
In fact, the only fixed points of the layout are the L-shaped galley and C-shaped saloon seating to port, the starboard heads and shower compartment, and the starboard aft double cabin. It seems odd that the starboard saloon settee doesn’t offer seating at the table, limiting hosting to a cosy six, where a fold-out table would give room for eight; a minor detail. Regardless, prospective buyers will be spoilt for choice.

Description
The YM Senior is a lovely little pocket cruiser design by the late Kenneth M. Gibbs. Ken Gibbs designed some lovely ply sailing boats many of which used to feature in the original Yachting Monthly magazine. I had much pleasure in sailing a Senior many years ago on the Thames. For her length, she seemed to accommodate a good sized cockpit and a useful cabin.
Life turns full circle and l have been asked to produce the hull construction details for a modern stitch and tape version. I did this for the Yachting World Heron to rekindle interest in the wood version and l am very happy to do the same for the Senior.
The details we have are for the hull construction only and for the bilge/ballast keel version and the builder would need to purchase a copy of the original plans (presently available on CD from the Eventide Ownerâs Group (www.eventides.org.uk).

Larsa Pippen explains why her 15-year-old daughter has a $2,500 monthly allowance while living with dad Scottie Pippen
- Larsa Pippen defended her parenting decisions during "The Real Housewives of Miami" reunion.
- She and her ex-husband, Scottie Pippen, give their teen daughter a $2,500 monthly allowance.
- Larsa said the money goes toward food, Uber rides, and other expenses.
Larsa Pippen defended her decision to give her 15-year-old daughter a $2,500 monthly allowance.
The TV personality spoke out during part three of "The Real Housewives of Miami" season 6 reunion on Thursday. Larsa, 49, shares a daughter, Sophia, and four sons with former NBA star Scottie Pippen. Although Larsa is based in Miami, she revealed to Bravo earlier in the season that Sophia chose to live with Scottie in Los Angeles for her freshman year of high school.
The topic of monthly allowances came up when host Andy Cohen read a question from a viewer, according to Bravo .
"You guys [have to] understand, LA is super expensive," Larsa told her costars. "So after school, she orders food or Uber or buys presents for her friends' birthdays."
Larsa added that Sophia is currently growing her career and making her own money as a model.
"I have a deal with Fashion Nova and they gave her a deal, and she was the face for Oscar de la Renta," Larsa said. "She literally makes money, you know?"

In a January episode of "RHOM," Larsa admitted that it was tough being away from her daughter, who splits her time between Los Angeles and Miami.
"It's hard. For sure, it's hard. But, for me, Miami is home. Like, that's where my heart and my soul is, and Sophia loves being in LA, and so it's OK. You know, her dad is there," Larsa said . "She kind of goes back and forth, and she's happy. That's the only thing that I care about."
Larsa and Scottie were married for 19 years but finalized their divorce in December 2021, but Larsa said the ordeal was difficult.
In February 2022, she claimed she was "traumatized" from the divorce proceedings and dubbed Scottie "The Punisher."
"If he doesn't get his way, he punishes me," Larsa said, according to People .
More recently, Larsa sparked a relationship with former NBA star Michael Jordan's second eldest son , Marcus. Although rumors about their relationship swirled in late 2022, they appeared to confirm their relationship in January when they were spotted kissing in public.
On an episode of "RHOM," Larsa admitted that the relationship was probably weird for Scottie and Michael, who were longtime teammates, according to Bravo .
However, a source told People in February that the couple broke up.
Representatives for Larsa Pippen, Scottie Pippen, Marcus Jordan, and Michael Jordan did not immediately respond to Business Insider's request for comment.

A friendly bounce for Casey Roth sends Falmouth sailing past Marshfield and into Division 2 championship game
BOURNE — Falmouth junior Casey Roth wanted to fire a shot into the top corner of Marshfield’s net. Her stick — and the puck — had other plans, but the result was all the same.
Roth bested Rams sophomore goaltender Morgan Murphy with a low shot from close range with 1:02 remaining in the first period after driving straight down the slot following a turnover in the neutral zone.
Senior Avery Johnson added an empty-net goal in the final minute and freshman goaltender Aspen Devlin (22 saves) delivered a shutout to help propel second-seeded Falmouth to a 2-0 victory over No. 11 Marshfield in a Division 2 state semifinal at Gallo Ice Arena.

“I totally whiffed,” Roth said of her goal. “I picked my head up and looked at that corner and then I was like, ‘It’s there’ but then it just went five-hole. I just had to put the puck on the net, so that’s exactly what I did.”
The win sends Falmouth (23-2-1) to the program’s first state final since the 2015 team captured the Division 2 crown with a 3-2 overtime victory over Wellesley. The Clippers will face defending state champion and top-seeded Duxbury (23-3-0) in the title game March 17 at TD Garden (1 p.m.).
“We entered this season not even knowing if we were the favorite in our league,” Falmouth coach Brian Ferreira said. “You had Nauset, Martha’s Vineyard, Sandwich — I think when the original Top 20 came out, four Cape and Islands teams were in the top 10 or 11. To get to [TD Garden] now is outstanding. It’s a testament to these girls.”
Although Devlin was outstanding the entire game, she was at her best in the third period when she stopped a breakaway bid by Marshfield freshman Julia Lemire with 8:32 remaining.
“I had to work on my breathing, I was so stressed out,” Devlin said. “Almost on every shot, I just think, ‘Hey, we’ve made it so far. This team is like my family, I’m not letting it go now.’ I just want to make it to the last game and now we have.”
