Aramex 2024 Dubai to Muscat Race Highlight Video

As the season approaches the halfway point, SailGP is preparing for a show-stopping weekend when the league returns to the UAE for the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix presented by P&O Marinas, taking place December 9-10 at Mina Rashid.

The build up to the sixth event of Season 4 reads like a script from one of the Hollywood stars involved in the historic purchase of the USA SailGP Team. Jimmy Spithill is out as driver – less than two months after delivering the USA’s first win of the season in Cádiz-Andalucía – and in his place, sits Taylor Canfield.

However Spithill has since announced his intention to set up an Italian team in Season 5 and is remarkably still driving in Dubai – representing his home country Australia for the first time since 2001 as replacement for Tom Slingsby, who is on paternity leave. The Australia team increased its championship lead to seven points after a third place in Cádiz-Andalucía but has now gone five straight finals without a win.

Spithill said: “No question, I’d love to go out and absolutely smoke those guys [USA] but one thing that we’ve all learned in SailGP is that if you focus on just one team, you can end up in last or second last. It’s been about 20 years since I put on the beautiful green and gold, so it’s an exciting time.It’s a fantastic team, let’s face it, it’s the benchmark team of SailGP. It’s actually been harder than I thought, in that a lot of the maneuvers in the playbook are different from what I’m used to. Not going back to a reflex action of what I’m used to in a high-pressure moment is very challenging.”

While Australia has benefited from Spithill’s temporary free agency for Dubai, Canada has also swooped amid the changes to the USA team. After Chris Draper stepped down as wing trimmer for Canada, they pounced to get Paul Campbell-James.

Campbell-James has been involved in SailGP since its inception and, not just that, Phil Robertson’s Canada will show off another USA recruit. Philippe Presti, one of the world’s most renowned foiling coaches, is Canada’s new coach, replacing Joe Glanfield who is focussing on his role with the British Olympic team.

Canada hasn’t reached a final since the Season 4 opener in Chicago and is currently seventh in the standings, eight points off the three teams that share third place ? USA, Spain and Emirates GBR. Rather than Finals, Robertson has twice found himself colliding with Spain’s Diego Botín.

Robertson said: “USA probably dropped the world’s best coach and one of the world’s best wing trimmers and the opportunity was there to scoop them both up. We did and that leaves us in a very good place. We don’t have any beef with Spain. I think that’s pretty clear, isn’t it? The Spanish put the boat where it shouldn’t go. It’s a shame to be tangled up with them but we don’t want to do that too much more.”

If Robertson and Botín was the original rivalry of Season 4, another has thrust itself into the spotlight in the form of Sir Ben Ainslie’s Emirates GBR and New Zealand’s Peter Burling. Ainslie single-handedly blocked Burling from the Final in Cádiz-Andalucía and Kiwi wing trimmer Blair Tuke let him know about it on the water.

New Zealand returned to racing at the Spain Sail Grand Prix for the first time since its wing collapse and had to make do with fourth after the incident. They are however just two points off the top three in the championship standings.

Burling said: “I think what happens on the playing field stays out there. We enjoy that rivalry we have with the British. It almost feels like there’s a bit of a restart mid season. The pressure to get good results and consolidate that place in the top three or at the top of the leaderboard is on now more than ever. It’s an exciting time to do a push into the back half of the season. It’s incredibly tight on points.”

Ainslie said: “The social media teams have certainly had a great time replaying that clip. In the heat of the battle things get said. I think the great thing about Cádiz was you just saw how much it meant to us as sailors. It gave everyone a bit of a laugh but it shows how much emotionally we invested in it.”

The Dubai event marks SailGP’s first of many Race For The Future takeovers, highlighting the league’s ongoing commitment and passion to climate action with COP28 currently taking place in the iconic city. The takeover showcases how the league is racing for Impact, Innovation, Inclusivity and Clean Energy solutions.

The event has made history already in racing for inclusivity with a first-ever all female F50 training session taking place in the build up to racing after the Switzerland SailGP Team provided its F50 to the Women’s Pathway program.

At the event is a host of innovative, ground-breaking activations delivered for the first time showing how events can be run more sustainably. This includes a reduction of 36 percent to the on-water fleet ? such as race management and coaches operating from the shore, the largest temporary solar array Aggreko has ever installed at an event and the event being powered by 100 percent clean energy.

The Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix is set to bring back the cutting-edge racing that thrilled fans in 2022 at a sold-out event, as world-class teams representing Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and the United States compete for the title. The Dubai event looks set to become a regular fixture on SailGP's successful global championship, which features close to shore stadium racing at iconic venues around the world – including Abu Dhabi, Auckland, Bermuda, Cadiz, Chicago, Halifax, Los Angeles, New York, Saint-Tropez, Sydney, San Francisco and Taranto.

Sail GP has confirmed that the 2022 series will be expanded to 10 events, with the UK stage returning to Plymouth

Sail GP, the multi-event foiling catamaran circuit , will be expanded to 10 events for the 2022/23 season.

Beginning in Bermuda in May 2022, the foiling F50 circuit has announced new host venues including Chicago – famously known as ‘The Windy City’ on the US eastern seaboard, Copenhagen in Denmark, and Dubai.

Event organisers have also announced a four-year partnership with New Zealand venues which will see Christchurch on the south island, and Auckland on the north, alternate to host the competition.

The European stage of the SailGP 2022 tour will kick off in July with the Great Britain Sail GP returning to Plymouth after this summer’s successful running there, before heading to Copenhagen, St Tropez on the south coast of France, and then the Atlantic venue Cadiz, which delivered dramatic conditions this year. 

The circuit then moves to its first ever Middle Eastern venue, with November racing in Dubai. The series will conclude in April 2023.

The series has expanded to include 10 teams, so far featuring Australia, Great Britain, Japan, Spain, France, New Zealand, United States and Denmark, with Canada and Switzerland the newest nationalities to join.

SailGP 2022: proving its worth?

SailGP was founded by Larry Ellison and Russell Coutts and, although initially funded by the Oracle founder’s extremely deep pockets, was always created with the aim that the event would generate its own revenue. Hence it’s no surprise that three of the events already carry title sponsorship. 

Together with the recent announcement that SIr Ben Ainslie has become the majority owner in his Great Britain SailGP team, while other teams are now carrying title sponsorship, it appears that the commercial potential of the circuit seems to be coming to fruition.

Followers of the ongoing debate surrounding the America’s Cup’s venue uncertainty will also find it hard not to draw comparisons, with SailGP not only confirming a four-year commitment to racing in New Zealand, but multiple-year deals secured with several other venues on the circuit. Despite this, however, it’s worth noting the first planned New Zealand SailGP event , in January 2022, has been cancelled after the event’s request for ‘ Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ)’ facilities – the strict protocols New Zealand is using to manage the transmission of coronavirus – were denied.

SailGP CEO Sir Russell Coutts said: “When Larry Ellison and I came up with the concept for SailGP, we envisaged a league with the best athletes in the world, racing in equal high-tech boats that are extremely fast, creating exciting, close to shore action, and with a regular season for our fans to truly engage with the sport globally. 

“We set ourselves a five year goal, but to sit here in Season 3 with ten teams on the start line – including two new franchised teams – an expanded season calendar, an impressive collection of commercial and broadcast partners, purpose and impact at our heart with a positive impact on the environment and an immersive fan experience through our broadcast and gaming offer – I simply couldn’t be happier with what has already been achieved.” 

Women’s pathway returns

Organisers have confirmed that the ‘Impact League’, in which teams are awarded points for their efforts to reduce the environmental impact of their activities, will continue for Sail GP 2022. The Women’s Pathway programme is also to continue, although we are awaiting further details on which events women sailors will be competing at.

The 2021/22 series continues on 17-18 December at Sydney. Home team Australia, skippered by Sydney local Tom Slingsby, currently lead the series so all eyes will on them to see if they can defend their advantage. 

The season finale takes place in San Francisco, with the Grand Final from March 26-27.

2023 IRC Middle East Championships

Dubai Offshore Sailing Club (DOSC) to Host the Second Consecutive Annual IRC Middle East Championships  in Dubai

The Dubai Offshore Sailing Club (DOSC) is excited to announce its prestigious role as the host of the annual IRC Middle East Championships. This will be held on the weekend of the 16 th and 17 th of December, 2023.  

IRC is the globally-recognised performance rating system which allows keelboats of all shapes and sizes to compete against each other at an equal level.  It is used in many of the most prestigious yacht racing events around the world.

Following the success of the first ever IRC Middle East Championships, held in December 2022 and noted for its spirited competition and sportsmanship, the opportunity to host it again serves as a testament to DOSC's commitment to nurturing a diverse range of sailing talents and promoting an inclusive atmosphere for sailing enthusiasts from various disciplines. 

"Whilst the majority of participating boats this year are anticipated to originate from DOSC, we are hopeful that this event will begin to yield an increased regional presence in the IRC fold in the years to come," stated Ed Shiffner, Rear Commodore at DOSC. "By elevating the stature of the IRC Middle East Championships and the IRC rating system, we are working to promote an equal and fair sporting environment where sailing enthusiasts from around the world not only feel welcome to join this friendly regatta, but also other racing events that DOSC hosts throughout the season. The IRC Middle East Championships is the cornerstone of creating a tradition of competitive keelboat sailing excellence in the UAE."

The IRC Middle East Championships, together with the upcoming SB20 World Championships and the 31st edition of the annual Dubai to Muscat Race, demonstrate how Dubai is the centre of modern keelboat sailing within the Gulf region. DOSC plans to develop events such as these in future years to welcome more international sailors from around the world to the UAE’s shores.

The organizing committee of the 32nd edition of the Al Gaffal 60ft Dhow Sailing Race announces the postponement of the race, which was scheduled to take place from 26th-28th of May. This decision is based on the current sea conditions and is made to ensure the safety of all participants and boats. A new date for the race will be announced in the coming days based on the weather forecast.

- Hamdan bin Mohammed approves the dates of the race dedicated to local 60-feet sailing ships - Crown Prince: Iconic tournament has made significant contributions to reviving the UAE’s marine sports heritage His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has approved the dates of the 32nd Al Gaffal Long Distance Race dedicated to traditional 60-feet sailing ships. The heritage sport event will take place from 26 to 28 May. Organized annually by the Dubai International Marine Club, the event takes place at the end of the marine sports season. Sheikh Hamdan noted that the iconic annual race has made significant contributions to reviving the UAE’s marine heritage. The race, which has grown in popularity over the years, celebrates the role the sea has played in the society, culture and economy of the nation throughout its past. His Highness directed the Higher Organizing Committee of the event to ensure the seamless organization of the tournament, which will chart a course of 50 nautical miles starting from Sir Bu Nair Island, passing through Crescent Moon Island, and ending on the shores of Dubai. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed urged all those involved in the event to work together to ensure the success of the event. His Excellency Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, Chairman of the Dubai International Marine Club, and President of the event’s organizing committee expressed his appreciation to Sheikh Hamdan for his patronage of the event, which was launched in 1991 by the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Participants will embark on a challenging journey, commencing from Sir Bu Na'air Island towards the shores of Dubai.

The Dubai International Marine Club has established the supreme organizing committee, led by Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, Chairman of the Club's Board of Directors, and supported by Deputy Chairman Saif Juma Al Suwaidi. The committee has confirmed that they are working diligently and closely monitoring the weather forecast in the coming hours to determine the new date for the race. The boat owners and participants will be promptly notified of the latest updates regarding the race timetable on Sir Bu Na’air Island. This includes important information about the safety inspection procedures and the distribution of GPS tracking devices.

Registration for the 32nd Al Gaffal Race officially closed after a week of registration. It now holds the second place in the general ranking in terms of the number of participants in the history of the Al Gaffal Long Distance Race. The 29th Al Gaffal Race, held in 2019, recorded the highest number of participants with 131 boats.

On the other hand, the headquarters of the Dubai International Marine Club witnessed a coordination meeting between the Higher Organizing Committee for the 32nd Al Gaffal Race and a high-ranking delegation from the General Administration of the Ports Police Station. The delegation included Major Ateeqa Musabah Al Dhaheri, First Lieutenant Abdul Rahman Bourguiba, and Second Lieutenant Ahmed Al Marzouqi. During the meeting, the delegation discussed race preparation matters with Mohammed Harib, a member of the Higher Organizing Committee and CEO of DIMC. The Higher Organizing Committee of the 32nd Al Gaffal 60ft Dhow Sailing Race, has approved the finish line near the iconic Burj Al Arab Hotel. The race starts from Sir Bu Nair Island and passes through Moon Island, covering a distance of over 50 nautical miles to reach the finish line.

This prestigious race is held under the patronage and support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. Organized by the Dubai International Marine Club, it serves as the season finale for 2022-2023. 

The event holds great significance as it is the largest, most prestigious, and highly anticipated race in terms of participation. It pays homage to the heritage of the ancestors while sending a message to future generations, inspired by the legacy of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who inaugurated the Al Gaffal race in 1991 and annually held since then.

The organizing committee monitors the weather forecast based on meteorological reports from the National Center of Meteorology. Earlier, it was decided to postpone the start of the race, which was scheduled for today (Friday), to a new date that will be announced later.  

The first stage of the race will be from Sir Bu Na'air Island towards Moon Island, covering a distance of up to 26 nautical miles. Afterward, the participants will head from Moon Island towards the finish line opposite the Burj Al Arab Hotel, covering a distance of up to 27 nautical miles, with total of around 53 nautical miles.

The upcoming race is scheduled to start on Tuesday, the 30th of May 2023, from Sir Bu Nair Island, located deep in the waters of the Arabian Gulf. The race course will lead to the first stop at Moon Island and continue towards the finish line in front of the iconic Burj Al Arab Hotel. The participating dhow boats are expected to sail approximately 53 nautical miles.

Harib confirmed that the Higher Organizing Committee has chosen Tuesday as the new date for the race. He also noted that in the event of unfavorable weather conditions or a forecast that prohibits the race from taking place, it will be postponed by one day and held on Wednesday, as per the latest data.

He further revealed that the Higher Organizing Committee, under the leadership of Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Dubai International Marine Club, has been closely monitoring all developments regarding the sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf and the country's coastlines. According to the meteorological reports, the most suitable date for the race falls on Tuesday.

He added, "The Organizing Committee has taken proactive measures by conducting two visits to Sir Bu Na'air Island. These visits aim to oversee the equipment and monitor the sea conditions in order to ensure the safe arrival of the organizing committee's convoy. Additionally, the participating dhow boats and crews will undergo necessary participation procedures, including safety checks and the receiving of  tracking devices."

125 Dhow Boats on 32nd Edition 

The upcoming event will witness the participation of 125 dhow boats in the 32nd edition of the Al Gaffal Race, marking the second-largest number of participants after the 29th edition in 2019, which saw the registration of 131 participants.

The Champions

It is worth noting that the Al Gaffal Races, since its establishment in 1991 until the 31st edition in 2022, have witnessed the crowning of 19 Champions . These remarkable individuals have earned titles and secured first places in previous editions, leaving an indelible mark as their names were written in golden letters.

The race's first edition in 1991 witnessed the victory of Al Awir 47 and Fares 46 in the 43ft Dhow Boats category. In the following year, 1992, Al Aziyab 22 emerged as the champion.

In 1993, the race introduced the 60ft category, and Mansour 36 became the first winner. Subsequently, the ship Barraq 30 achieved remarkable success, securing the title four times. Other notable winners include Serdal 83 (two wins), Al Ghayoon 17, Dass 45, Al Raed 92, Al Zeer 16 (four times), Ghazi 103 (five times), Atlas 12, Al Qaffay (four times), Zilzal 25 (three times), Al Sahel 31, Barraq 33, Al Shaqi 96, Namran 211, and the reigning title holder in the last edition, the crew of the ship Hashim 199.

Tomorrow, the Higher Organizing Committee will join the journey aboard the Dubawi yacht, accompanied by the TV delegation from Dubai Media Incorporation via Dubai Sports TV Channel on the Shindagha yacht. Additionally, the logistics and support team will be on board the Quatro Shadow yacht.

The Al Gaffal race is considered the most prestigious and significant in terms of participation, embodying a tribute to the heritage of their ancestors and a message to future generations. It is based on the legacy of the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum since its inception in 1991 and has been held annually until today, 2023.  

The Higher Organizing Committee, headed by Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai International Marine Club, has completed all the necessary preparations for the start of the race scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday). The committee has coordinated with successful partners from government departments and national institutions, as well as participating owners. Hundreds of marine vessels have gathered off Sir Bu Nair Island, which has been the historic starting point for the race since 1991.

The highly anticipated 32nd edition of the Al Gaffal Traditional Dhow Sailing Race (60ft) will commence its journey today, starting from Sir Bu Nair Island and concluding at the Dubai Coast.

Organized by the Dubai International Marine Club, this race holds significant importance as it aligns with the Coral Jubilee, commemorating the club's 35th anniversary since its establishment in 1988. The event also pays tribute to the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who initiated the Al Gaffal Race back in 1991.

Participants in this competitive race will compete for a total prize money of 12 million dirhams. Additionally, the top five winners will be rewarded with four-wheel cars, along with gold, silver, and bronze trophies, as well as medals to honor their triumph.

The race is scheduled to commence this morning, taking into careful consideration the sea's conditions and meteorological reports. The Higher Organizing Committee ensures an ideal competition atmosphere before raising the green flag, which signify the start of the race.

Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum honored the boat no. 9 Al Taf , which is owned by Mohammed Rashid Al Rumaithi and captained by Youssef Ahmed Mohammed Al Hammadi who secure second place in the race. Additionally, he extended his appreciation to the crew of Zilzal 25, owned by Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and led by captain Marwan Abdullah Al-Marzouki, for their achievement in securing the third position. Furthermore, Sheikh Rashid acknowledged the crews of Al Adeed 30, owned by Mohammed Rashid Musabah Al Rumaithi and led by his son Rashid, who secured the fourth position, and Al Shaqi 96, owned by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and led by Khalaf Butti Musabah Al Ghasheesh Al Marri, who took the fifth position.

The preceding race presented a significant challenge for both the organizing committee and the participants, as they had to navigate the unpredictable weather conditions of the Arabian Gulf. However, the committee managed to select an ideal date for the race launch, ensuring favorable wind speeds for a successful event. A total of 125 dhow boats gathered at Sir Bu Nair Island, raising their white sails as the green flag signaled the start of the race. They embarked on a journey towards Moon Island, the first finish line situated 26 nautical miles away from the starting point. In an impressive display of skill, the crew of Al Adeed 30 emerged as the first boat to cross the finish line, in a remarkable time of 02.18.03 hours.

Following that, a crucial stage unfolded in the pursuit for the title, characterized by fluctuating wind speeds and the emergence of the sailors expertise. As a result, the dynamics shifted, and several competitors emerged, vying to claim the spotlight. Among them, the crew of the boat Namran 211 who demonstrated their exceptional skills, setting a new record time in the Al Gaffal race as they cross the finish line in a remarkable time of 04.45.10 hours.

Sailor Ali, the son of Abdullah Mohammed Al-Marzouqi, showcased remarkable skills in traditional racing and achieved another impressive accomplishment last Tuesday. He skillfully captained the crew of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan's boat, named Namran 211, securing victory in the 32nd Al Gaffal Race, which is considered the most prestigious championship in the marine sports season.

The Dubai International Marine Club successfully organized the 32nd edition of the Al Gaffal Race under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council. The race witnessed the participation of 125 ships sailing from Sir Bu Nair Island, passing through Moon Island, and heading towards the finish line at the iconic Burj Al Arab Hotel, covering a distance of over 53 nautical miles.

The crew of boat no. 211 Namran, led by Ali Abdullah Al-Marzouqi, clinched the title for the second time in history, after his previous achievement in 2021. This victory marks the sixth title in the family's history, following the success of Ali's father, Abdullah Al-Marzouki, and his brother Marwan, who won the title three times in 2010, 2016, and 2017 with boat no. 25 Zilzal and in 2022 with his brother Hassan on boat no. 199 Hasheem.

Engineer Marwan Abdullah Al-Marzouqi, who holds the highest number of titles among his brothers in the prestigious Al Gaffal Race, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council. Al-Marzouqi acknowledged His Highness's exceptional support for the race and his unwavering commitment to ensuring the continuity of this event, which was inaugurated in 1991 by the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

He served as their teacher and mentor.

Marwan reminisced that his father was a sailor during the establishment of traditional races in various categories. Despite their focus on educational attainment along with their passion for football, their father encouraged them to pursue this watersport. They were also active athletes in the Baniyas Club.

He added that their true breakthrough as brothers came with boat no. 25 Zilzal, which secured the grand title three times in 2010, 2016, and 2017. This marked the beginning of their skills development under their father's guidance. In the past three years, Marwan's brother Ali took the lead of boat no. 211 Namran, while Hassan led boat no. 199 Hasheem.

Marwan confirmed that the secret behind the superiority and recent victories of Namran 211 (first place), Zilzal 25 (third place), and Hasheem 199 (seventh place) lies in their united teamwork and the pursuit of challenges in their quest for titles. He emphasized that their exceptional preparations facilitated their continuous rise to the top.

The 32nd edition of the annual Al Gaffal Dhow Sailing Race (60ft) from Sir Bu Nair Island to the shores of Dubai received distinguished international media coverage that resonated on all continents of the world, representing a great heritage and societal value for the people of the region and the Arab Gulf countries.

The event was successfully organized on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, by the Dubai International Marine Club, under the patronage and support of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. It witnessed the participation of 125 dhow boats that sailed for a distance of more than 50 nautical miles.

The European Press Agency (EPA), headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany, made a distinguished presence during the race through its delegate Ali Hayder Hassan, a photographer. He documented the Al Gaffal race journey for over two days, capturing 33 expressive and beautiful pictures. His lens captured the preparations of the captains, owners, and sailors, as well as the evening trials around Sir Bu Na'air Island, in anticipation of their sail towards the shores of Dubai. He managed to capture rare moments of them in the backdrop of an enchanting sunset. This photo garnered admiration from international publishing houses and were fortunate to be published by the agency. One of the pictures was even selected as the "picture of the day" on the official website of the British newspaper "The Times". Additionally, the pictures were featured on various platforms, including the widely distributed Portuguese news agency, "Lusa", which serves 30 countries worldwide.  

The Agence France-Presse (AFP) team, composed of two delegates, Mumen Al-Khatib, and Karim Sahib, captured the vibrant atmosphere of the great heritage race through videos and photographs, which were shared via the agency's platform with numerous international television stations. These stations included Euro News, Chinese TV, Nocomante TV, Televertor TV, NGTV, ZD. FTV, Spanish IS News platforms and the British Guardian. The team's coverage included a four-and-a-half-minute report, along with the publication of the photographs on various websites, stations, and newspapers worldwide.

Furthermore, the Czech international photographer Martin Dokoupil, specializing in equestrian sports and sailing, contributed his unique perspective to the race coverage for multiple stations. Notably, he worked with the German agency Amigo Image, which distributes its images across continents and serves various platforms dedicated to different events. Through this agency, Martin Dokoupil's captivating images of the race were published, showcasing 12 diverse and beautiful pictures that captured the essence of the event.

The race garnered significant attention through the exceptional coverage provided by the media partner, Dubai Media Corporation, specifically through the Dubai Sports TV Channels. The race was accompanied by a dedicated team of professionals who delivered exceptional service to the esteemed audience. They provided live coverage a day prior to the race from Al Gaffal Studio, continuously capturing the pre-race atmosphere throughout the competition, which lasted for over 10 hours.

Al-Ghad TV channel, the first Arab news channel to emanate from Cairo, offered special coverage through their correspondent Abdullah Al Zoubi and cameraman Amjad Al Tom. They covered the race from its inception on Sir Bu Nair Island to the finish line in front of the iconic Burj Al Arab. The channel shed light on the Emirates' celebration of their forefathers' and grandfathers' legacy, providing viewers and readers with a news service rooted in accuracy and objectivity.

The Higher Organizing Committee expresses gratitude to Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of Al-Nasr Cultural and Sports Club, for his gracious presence at the awarding ceremony honoring the champions of the 32nd edition. The committee appreciates his support in ensuring the success of all the activities organized by the club throughout the season, including the Al Gaffal Race, which takes place annually from Sir Bu Nair Island and concludes at the shores of Dubai, serving as the culmination of the club's sports season. 

The Higher Committee convened a special meeting after the race, which was chaired by Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai International Marine Club. Saif Juma Al Suwaidi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Committee, along with board members Rashed Thani Al-Aail and Ali Saeed Bin Thalith, were present. Also in attendance were Mohammed Harib, CEO of DIMC, and Mohammed Al Sadi. The meeting involved the review of the race report by the committee overseeing the race, as well as the reports from the financial, technical, and media assistance committees. 

In the meeting, the Committee addressed the challenges and difficulties faced by the various committees, with the objective of formulating future strategies to overcome these obstacles. The committee praised the outstanding cooperation and remarkable level of coordination observed throughout this edition, as well as the team's demonstrated expertise in effectively utilizing the available resources to ensure the event's success. This was evident through the implementation of a well-prepared action plan that guided the participants in every step, notably the consensual decision to adjust the race date.

This remarkable achievement adds another significant chapter to the rich history of the Al Gaffal Race, which began in 1991 and was inaugurated by the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

This edition of the race was exceptional, with all dhow boats safely reaching the finish line and setting a new record time of 04.45.10 hours."

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai International Marine Club expresses appreciation for the role played by government departments and national institutions in the success of the event. These partners include the General Command of Dubai Police, Dubai Media Incorporation, Dubai Municipality, Roads and Transport Authority, Critical Infrastructure and Coastal Protection Authority (Fourth Squadron Command), the General Command of Sharjah Police, General Administration of Civil Defense in Dubai, the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, and other contributing entities.

Bin Meshar emphasizes that the Higher Organizing Committee of the 32nd Al Gaffal Race is committed to continuing its meetings after the conclusion of the race. This aim to learn valuable lessons and identify recommendations to be implemented in the next edition of the race, scheduled for the year 2024, ensuring that the race's successes will continue to grow with each passing year.
