The award winning 40.5m/132'10" motor yacht 'Onika' was built by Delta Marine in the United States at their Seattle, WA shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Delta Design Group and she was completed in 2014. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Delta Design Group.

Onika has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 6 guests in 3 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 8 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Onika is built with a composite hull and composite superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel Caterpillar (C32) 1,600hp engines running at 2300rpm, she comfortably cruises at 13 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 4,000 nautical miles from her 14,720 gallon fuel tanks at 12 knots. Her low draft of 2.1m/6'11" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Onika features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels. Her water tanks store around 2,450 Gallons of fresh water. She was built to Lloyds Register ✠ 00 A1 SSC Yacht G6 MCH classification society rules.

They loved it so much they came back for more: this 40-meter superyacht, featuring a high-efficiency hull design, was built for repeat Delta owners. ONIKA embodies the simple elegance and warmth of a true gentleman’s yacht. The Delta Design Group was entrusted with the entire design and engineering package. One of the challenges put forth to the design team was to create a hull for shallow-draft cruising with the same seaworthiness and capabilities as a full-displacement design. And Delta delivered.

  Stepping inside, the major focus of detail on the main deck centers on the dramatic entry and central staircase. Cream-colored marble floors with diamond-shaped blue sodalite are contrasted with raised-and-fielded wall panels of Khaya mahogany. Intricately carved wood handrails and metal-adorned newel posts anchor the base of the stairs. This impression of ageless, casual elegance continues through to the formality of the dining and main salon, with coffered beams and beveled-glass pocket doors. Select pieces of the owners’ antique furniture add an Edwardian touch to this indoor gathering space. In addition, both the dining and main salon showcase rare pieces from the owners’ collection of original impressionist art.

The lower deck features paneled walls of clear, straight-grained German Spessart oak, finished naturally in a light honey color. The designers created signature furniture pieces, featuring bow and serpentine shapes meticulously detailed in mahogany and chestnut burl with Anigre inlay. Heads are finished with heated marble floors, with the stone extending up to a wainscot with nautically inspired wall coverings. Other fabrics display a dramatic color panel of rich blue, red, and green jewel tones and textures.

The sky lounge displays the natural beauty of materials and craftsmanship of the yacht. The mixing of traditional components and materials lends a relaxed British West Indies ambiance. Large windows and light colors brighten the space, highlighting a focal antique white German oak bookcase. This is a space for guests to relax, entertain, or play card games among the carefully detailed furniture pieces. A corner quarter-round mahogany bar cabinet with pocket doors sits to one side and a bow-front end table in striped Sapele and Anigre veneer to the other. The loose furniture is soft and casual, upholstered with cotton ikat and patterned fabrics and brass nailheads.

While the interiors are breathtaking, so are ONIKA’S outdoor spaces and decks. Characterized by the same elegance as the interior, the decks flow gracefully from bow to stern. The sun deck is a complete outdoor living space, with forward-facing settees, a dining table for eight, and a bar and TV, as well as room for chaise lounges and an outdoor shower to cool down. A pair of tenders stowed on the aft bridge deck can be launched on either side. On the main deck, there’s dining for six and a lounge that provides the feeling of a comfortable residential setting.

Quantum Zero Speed stabilizers ensure a nice gentle ride both at anchor and underway. Her Northern Lights generators are equipped with catalytic soot traps for reduced emissions. A timeless gentleman’s classic yacht designed and built by a Seattle shipyard for a loyal client and discerning yachtsman.

“Onika” is an elegant motor yacht featuring that special type of timeless classic design which doesn’t go unnoticed and is still fashionable. Delta Marine have built this yacht in composites a material in which they are experts.

The yard has also built steel and aluminium models as well. “Onika” is 40 metres long, and it possesses innovative complex engineering concealed behind its traditional appearance. Following the owner’s requests who’s already been a returning client of the yard, the in house Delta Design Group team of technicians was asked to deliver a hull which could guarantee the same sea-keeping qualities of a displacing vessel but with a hull draught which can cruise in shallow waters.

Thanks to complicated studies conducted by computational flow dynamics (CFD) and extensive tank testing with physical models the goals desired were achieved. Jay Miner, Delta’s Chief Architect commented on the studies carried out for the hull as follows: “The new Delta hull design combines the best in long range passage making capability and fuel efficiency along with moderate draught to allow the owner access to the shallower water destinations that otherwise might not be accessible. In profile, the bow has a long overhang, with enough flare to keep the decks dry and present an overall classic look.

Below the waterline the hull form has round bilges with a bulbous bow and a long easy run to enhance comfort and reduce fuel consumption. Much attention was paid to the flow line patterns along the hull surface to ensure that all appendages were precisely aligned.

The propeller tunnels are well blended into the hull, with a gentle transition resulting from studies conducted both by computational flow dynamics (CFD) as well as a traditional battery of physical model tests in a tow tank facility.

The final result is a handsome design with the ability to cross oceans efficiently, in comfort and in style”. Onika’s exterior elegance is repeated inside. On entering the quality of the materials deployed, the fine joinery is immediately noticeable. The lobby area sporting a fine central stairway is enriched by marble looking cream coloured marble flooring with fine diamond shaped blue sodalite gemstones and with Khaya mahogany faced bulkheads.

The stairway sports inlaid wood handrails with a metal adorning base which are prime examples of elegance and class, which is a recurrent theme appearing for the whole length of the entire deck from the main saloon to the principal dining area where some of the furniture from the owner’s antiques collection add an Edwardian touch to the area. Both the saloon/living room and the dining area are further embellished by precious impressionist paintings from the owner’s private collection.

The layout for these two areas were as the owner requested, devised in such a way as to make socialising easier given their formal context. Another request from the owner’s list was for the night quarters to extend along the whole of the lower deck as they’re considered as being more comfortable underway. In fact the owner’s full beam suite is amidships of the lower deck and so are two large guest ones.

The decor in this area differs from the main deck’s. Honey coloured oak panelling from Germany accentuate the interiors brightness, while the furniture and detailed mahogany and chestnut accessories with Anigre wood inlays elegantly and stylishly disperse a sense of monotony.

Having said the main deck is clearly formal in term of decor at least, while the lower one is devised to offer privacy, we still have to talk about the upper deck, where in addition to the helm controls station and captain’s cabin, the owner requested a sky lounge in which to relax with a convivial and entertaining atmosphere. The decor chosen for this area is softer and casual, recalling the sort of laid back surrounding atmosphere typical of the houses in British West Indies.

Obviously open air spaces are plentiful, here too great care has been devoted in producing elegant finishing touches which are on ‘par’ with the interiors. The sundeck hosts and enhances outdoor living thanks to several divans, a table seating up to eight, a bar cabinet a television set and several chaise longue from which to enjoy the sun; while back in the cockpit area astern “Onika” is ready to offer a dining area in residential style.

With a pair of caterpillar C32 engines, “Onika” is capable of topping 16 knots and 12 in econ cruising mode for up to 4,000 nautical miles. Quantum Zero Stabilisers ensure comfort underway and when lying to an anchor.

Further price reduction on superyacht Onika at Northrop & Johnson

Gregg Child at Northrop & Johnson sends news of another price cut on Delta Marine’s 33.53m motor yacht Onika , this time by $250,000.

Built by Delta in 1993 to a design by Stephen R. Seaton and refitted in 2004, she’s been well maintained throughout by her owner and crew. A Glade Johnson interior sleeps six guests in three cabins plus five crew berths while twin 1,450hp Caterpillar engines give Onika a crusing speed of 14 knots and a range of 1,880 nautical miles.

Gregg comments that the owners are ready to sell as they're building another Delta.

Onika is now down from $4.75 million to $4.5 million.

The firm of naval architecture whom authored this yacht's drawings on this ship is Stephen R. Seaton and Delta Design Group. Her initial interior design work is the brain child of Glade Johnson. Luxury yacht ONIKA is a good looking yacht that can sleep a total of 6 passengers on board and has approximately 5 crew members.

The New Build & Design relating to Luxury Yacht ONIKA

Stephen R Seaton was the naval architect involved in the technical nautical design work for ONIKA. Also the company Stephen R Seaton and Delta Design Group expertly worked on this venture. Interior designer Glade Johnson was selected for the creative interior ambience. In 1993 she was formally launched to triumph in Seattle Wa and post sea trials and detailing was afterwards delivered to the new owner. Delta Marine Industries completed their new build motor yacht in the United States. Her core hull was crafted from composite. The motor yacht superstructure component is fabricated for the most part with composite. With a width of 7.32 m or 24 feet ONIKA has moderate internal space. She has a shallow draught of 1.74m (5.7ft). She had refit improvement and changes completed by 2004.

Engineering & Speed For M/Y ONIKA:

The 16V 92TA engine powering the yacht is built by DDC. Her propulsion units are twin screw propellers. The engine of the ship gives 1450 horse power (or 1067 kilowatts). She is fitted with 2 engines. The total power for the boat is accordingly 2900 HP or 2134 KW. With respect to stabalisers she was built with Naiad. The bow thrusters are Abt.
