The Yachts and Filming Destinations of Below Deck

Varun Patel of The Yachts and Filming Destinations of Below Deck

The best jobs are often defined by the perks they offer: a high pay, flexibility of work hours, etc. But what if one perk of your job was the opportunity to travel to exotic locations on a super-luxurious cruise? This is exactly the kind of “dream job” that the cast of ‘Below Deck ’ have.

‘Below Deck’ is a reality television series that follows several crew members of a luxury yacht that travels to a holiday destination with numerous guests. The crew are faced with countless challenges as they aim to make the guests’ experience as hospitable and pleasant as possible. Often called “yachties,” the crew members juggle various personal conflicts as they strive to work hard and party harder by visiting some truly mesmerizing places.

Below Deck Filming Locations

Each season, a new group of guests are seen aboard the ‘Below Deck’ yacht. Apart from that, the destination also changes as the ‘Below Deck’ crew get an opportunity to travel to another location altogether, more vibrant than the last.

Many of you might be wondering where ‘Below Deck’ is actually filmed. Well, owing to the format of the show, most of the filming for ‘Below Deck’ takes place aboard a luxurious yacht. Apart from that, the locations that the yacht travels to are also picturesquely depicted on the show. These gorgeous locales are one of the highlights of the series, to be honest.

Majority of the filming for ‘Below Deck’ takes place on the multi-million dollar yacht that the crew operates and manages. Most of the crew is rejigged each season, save for the captain, Lee Rosbach who leads the operations.

For the seventh season of the show, a yacht named “Valor” is used. The same charter vessel had been used for the fourth and fifth season of the show. However, outside the show, the yacht is called “BG.” Just to get an idea on how premium “BG” or “Valor” is, consider its weekly rental rate (exclusive of fuel charges): $160,500.

A yacht named “My Seanna” was used for filming the sixth season of the show while “Eros/Mustang Sally,” “Ohana/Rhino” and “Honor/Lumiere” were used for shooting the third, second and first seasons of ‘Below Deck’ respectively.

The seventh season of ‘Below Deck’ was filmed in Thailand. The yacht sailed the Andaman Sea and the Phang Nga Bay. The Southeast Asian country is known for its beautiful, sandy beaches and pristine islands.

The Ao Po Grand Marina in Phuket serves as the home port for Valor on season 7 of ‘Below Deck.’ The docking location acts as a gateway to the Phang Nga Bay and has several bars and restaurants to serve those sailing. This is where the crew of ‘Below Deck’ kick back their feet and enjoy a night of drinking, or two.

Moreover, Ko Poda Island is also one of the locations where the yacht will be heading to for the seventh season. The imposing and magnificent island has become quite a hub for snorkeling thanks to the shallow stretches of water around its clean, sandy coast. Apart from that, the iconic Phi Phi Islands are also a filming location and destination for ‘Below Deck’ apart from Koh Rang Yai Island, Ko Yao Yai and Laem Krating.

Other Locations

As mentioned earlier, ‘Below Deck’ takes its crew and guests to a different part of the globe in each season. For instance, the sixth season of the show was set outside the Caribbean region, in the islands of Tahiti. On the other hand, the fifth season was set and filmed in St. Martin while the fourth season took place in the Virgin Islands . Bahamas serves as the location for the third season while the second season was set in the British Virgin Islands and the first one around the Caribbean.

In this age of technology and ever-present cameras, it seems impossible to fly under the radar – even more so when you’re one half of one of the industry’s most powerful couples. But money can buy anything, including privacy, in a world that has long forgotten the meaning of the word.

eos yacht below deck

Eos is one of the world’s largest and most famous sailing yachts and a record-breaker until the 2017 arrival of Oceanco’s Black Pearl, a stunning sailing masterpiece that is believed to have inspired the construction of the future record-breaker, Jeff Bezos’ Y721. Whenever Eos makes an appearance in public, much like a superstar, it draws attention and makes headlines, yet, for all this, it remains an enigma.

Here is an attempt to lift the veil as much as possible on this enigma, a $200 million vessel that is said to be the epitome of luxury, elegance and, not in the least important, outstanding design. After all, you don’t become an icon (enigma or not) by conforming to standards.

eos yacht below deck

Eos is named after the Greek goddess of dawn, the daughter of titans Hyperion and Theia, and sister of the sun god and the moon goddess. Eos is a sailing yacht, a three-mast Bermuda-rigged schooner that relies on a couple of MTU 4000-series engines for outstanding performance, regardless of the wind conditions. At full throttle, Eos can hit top speeds of 16 knots (18 mph / 29.5 kph).

eos yacht below deck

Built by luxury shipyard  Lurssen  on a Lurssen naval architecture, an exterior design by Bill Langan, and interiors by Francois Catroux, Eos was delivered in 2006, after a three-year construction phase. Since delivery, it has had one single owner and he’s been keeping it a secret on purpose, as it serves as the family yacht.

That owner is billionaire media mogul Barry Diller, known as  “Diller killer”  in the industry because of his exceptional negotiation skills. He is married to fashion designer (and icon in her own right) Diane von Furstenberg, who is often erroneously referred to as the owner. Together, the two have an estimated net worth of $5.2 billion as of 2022, which means that, yes, they can definitely afford a $200 million vessel, as well as keep it a secret from the public by not chartering it.

eos yacht below deck

At 93 meters (305 feet) in total length, Eos is among the top 5% yachts in the world by LOA. The fact that it’s a sailing vessel would have been enough to draw all eyes to it at port, but the three 61-meter (200-foot) masts make it an unforgettable sight, as does the deep dark blue hull. Eos has a teak deck, an aluminum hull, and aluminum superstructure. Much of the superstructure was repaired after an extensive fire in 2012, when the ship was at harbor while Diller and von Furstenberg were visiting ashore.

eos yacht below deck

A later refit program, throughout 2018 and 2019, was even more extensive: the Rodal rigs were removed, repaired and repainted, the hull and superstructure were repainted, the tank arrangement was reorganized and the engines were overhauled. Onboard systems like the treatment unit and the watermaker were also serviced then, and navigation systems were brought up to speed with state-of-the-art equipment.

eos yacht below deck

With an interior volume of 1,500 GT, Eos offers accommodation for 14 guests across seven suites and a crew of 21 – a necessarily high number because sailing it is no single-man job. Eos was never offered for charter, though legend has it that it has hosted some of the biggest stars in the world, including Jeff Bezos on his final week as Amazon CEO in 2021, singer and actor Harry Styles, and television host and reality star producer Andy Cohen.

eos yacht below deck

Because it’s always been used privately, details on the interior are as scarce as photos of the same, but again, legend has it that features a viewing lounge with panoramic views, a jacuzzi, a 4.2-meter (14-foot) mural of the world map, and a most glamorous staircase made of glass. A 2.7-meter (9-foot) tall sculpture by Anh Duong, showing Diane von Furstenberg, graces Eos as figurehead. von Furstenberg usually posts to social while onboard Eos during summer-long journeys, but she always makes sure her photos don’t show much of the interior.

eos yacht below deck

In 2009, when Eos pulled into an Australian port for some maintenance work, captain Lucas Alexander told the local  media  that sailing Eos felt like living in a high-end villa at sea. He also said that the vessel never traveled by a preset itinerary, which, if true, probably helps with keeping it a mystery.

EOS is one of the very few sailing yachts built by Lürssen in 2006. Until 2017 she remained the world’s largest luxury sailing yacht at a length of 93 metre. She has a beam of 13.5 metre and a draft of 5.6 metre featuring an aluminium hull and superstructure. Eos is a three-masted schooner and powered by an MTU engine of 1740 kW allowing a maximum speed of 16 knots. She can accommodate 14 guests in seven cabins with an interior design by François Catroux and an exterior design by the late Bill Langan.

Eos (yacht)

Three-masted bermuda rigged schooner / from wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, dear wikiwand ai, let's keep it short by simply answering these key questions:.

Can you list the top facts and stats about Eos (yacht)?

Summarize this article for a 10 year old

The Eos is a three-masted Bermuda rigged schooner . The ship is one of the largest private sailing yachts in the world, and as of 2009 was owned by movie and media billionaire Barry Diller , [3] husband of fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg . According to a 2007 article in Harper's Bazaar , Eos features a figurehead of von Fürstenberg sculpted by Anh Duong . [4] Its overall length measures approximately 305 feet (92.92m). [1]

Thumb image

Construction

Designed by Antonio Ferrer, a graduate of Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology , [5] Eos was launched in Bremen, Germany from the Lürssen yard in 2006. The ship took three years to build. [2] When launched, she "knocked Athena off the number one spot [for largest sailing yacht]." [1] Bill Langan was the designer, [6] Rondal/Huisman supplied the rig, and the remaining naval architecture was completed by Lürssen. The interior was designed by François Catroux. [7] The 200 feet (61   m) tall masts are "the maximum height allowed to enable the craft to pass underneath bridges cross the globe." [8]

According to the San Francisco Bay Area sailing magazine Latitude 38 , the EOS is longer overall than her nearest rival, the Maltese Falcon . However, much of the length of Eos is in the bowsprit , and although she is slightly beamier than the Falcon, the Maltese Falcon is fourteen feet longer on deck and over 20 feet (6.1   m) longer at the waterline, as seen in the table below: [9] Another very similar style of boat is the older yacht Athena, which has more traditional sail plan but is general smaller, [10] and another example is the Black Pearl, which was delivered in 2018 and is larger overall but like Maltese Falcon uses a 3-mast DynaRig. [11]

"Which one is bigger? Well, it depends on how you measure it. If the bowsprit counts (and it usually does), then the Eos wins," opines the YachtPals website.

However, Latitude 38 begs to differ. They "consulted with sailing experts from around the world at the Le Select Bar here in St. Barth ," who explained that the length at the waterline and length on deck are "the real measure of size," making Maltese Falcon the largest sailing yacht. [9]

In 2007, a BBC headline declared Eos the largest, saying "The world's largest private yacht, owned by an American millionaire, is in a south Devon harbour." [12] Other news outlets have also come out for Eos as the world's largest private yacht. [3] [8]

Press coverage

Press coverage of Eos written for non-sailors describes the ship with phrases like "world's largest," (despite the opinion of the Latitude 38 "sailing experts"). A 2009 news story about Eos' arrival in Fremantle , Australia appears designed to reinforce the glamor and mystique of luxury yachting , (if not envy and/or daydreaming ). It claims that not only is the ship "the world's largest yacht," but that "Little is known about the yacht's interior, kept a secret by Mr. Diller, but it is believed to boast a glass staircase and panoramic views astern." The outgoing captain was quoted as saying, "I thoroughly enjoy it ... I have long, unstructured hours and an ever-changing itinerary. We have no set route but travel mainly between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean." [3]

The ship is "valued in excess of US$150 million." [13]

Latitude 38 describes Eos' owner, Barry Diller, creator of Fox Broadcasting Company , as "currently the Chairman of Expedia and the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IAC/InterActiveCorp ... parent of companies including Home Shopping Network, Ticketmaster, Match.com and others," noting that "In 2005, Diller received $295 million in compensation, the highest of any executive in the United States." [14]

When the designer of Eos, Bill Langan, died in Dec. 2010, the yacht was mentioned in his company's article commemorating his work. [6]

On June 30, 2012, at around 15:00 ( CEST ), the ship caught fire outside the island of Ormøya in Oslo , Norway . Barry Diller and his wife were ashore at the time. The crew took the first response to the fire and controlled the situation until the Norwegian fire department and the harbour police arrived at 16:15 (CEST). The fire was successfully extinguished by 20:00 (CEST) and the ship made a safe return to port for damage assessment. [15] There were no personal injuries. The fire did, however, cause severe damage to the top decks, whilst the rest of the yacht escaped virtually undamaged. Diller described the incident as being "no problem", emphasizing his relief that everyone escaped unharmed. [16]

Posted by Claudine Williams | Aug 15, 2015 | Below Deck , Cruise , Reality TV | 11 |

On Season 3 of Below Deck , the crew catered to guests on board the Eros , a 161-foot luxury yacht, which will take the cast and some well-heeled guess Bahamas. The Eros has high-end pleasures like an on-deck jacuzzi and a gym. Like previous years, Below Deck representatives changed the name of the actual yacht for the show.

Great crew, Outstanding yacht.

Though I’ve thought all the Yachts were nice, I’d have to say the EROS is probably a favorite. The layout is so much different than the others.

I was thinking how amazingly fun it would be to work on this yacht….then I thought HELL NO!!! I want to be a pampered guest on that boat, surrounded by an amazing and super fun crew!!! It would be a once in a lifetime trip!!!! I would love my whole family (which is very small) to join me for pure rest & relaxation and tons of fun; with no worries at all… But DAAA’UUUMMM……it is so dang freaking expensive to rent this yacht for a week. I am not that wealthy, so it’s unlikely I’ll ever be able to afford an type of vacation on this gorgeous be z

Us poor peeps can only hope to win the give away Cruz on that boat for the week…

One day I will be able to take a trip on this yacht or spend a week on this yaht, when that day comes I’ll know I won the lotto…lol

I don’t get it. What’ s so special about a yacht? $200,000 and for what?

WoW!! I only wish that I were related to the Real House Wife celeb, Ms. Bailey. What a blessing to grab a few best friends and even just enjoy a weekend at sea…….now that would make me very happy. I will be looking for that “Eros Cruise Contest” as well.

I thought it would fun to get 10 friends and split the cost until I checked into the prices. Wow, I can pay my house off for the amount of money they are asking. I watch the show and I have not been impressed with the food the chef serves, the entertainment, an employee dressing up as a mermaid?? and some water toys. Add another 10000.00 or more for the tip at the end of the week. Maybe when I hit the lotto!

The actual Below Deck yacht is available to charter in Miami area for anyone that has the money.

I would NEVER charter the Eros after seeing the show ‘Below Deck’ & seeing how the crew mock the quests publicly on camera! How rude & unprofessional!

Great Share,

We are planning for sailing vacation after our wedding, I think we will prefer hiring such services which will take care of me and my family.

Hope we are able to go for this vacation. 🙂 ;p

Captain Jason Chambers shares update on Below Deck Down Under Season 3, asks fans for help

Captain Jason Chambers on Below Deck Down Under

Captain Jason Chambers has given an update on Below Deck Down Under Season 3 while asking fans for some help.

Season 2 of Below Deck Down Under was a mega-hit for the latest Below Deck spin-off.

Below Deck Med Season 9 and Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5, were also announced at the same time.

However, unlike the other Below Deck shows, Below Deck Down Under Season 3 hadn’t been filmed when news of the renewal broke.

Months later, fans anxiously await news on when Captain Jason and his trusty side-kick Chief Stew Aesha Scott will be back.

Captain Jason Chambers shares Below Deck Down Under Season 3 update

It seems that Captain Jason, too, is getting antsy waiting for more news on the upcoming season of his hit-yachting show. Last December, the hunky captain admitted the next installment of Below Deck Down Under had yet to be filmed.

According to Noah Samton, a senior vice president of unscripted current production for NBCUniversal, Below Deck Down Under Season 3 was filming earlier this month.

The other day, Captain Jason took to Instagram to express his readiness for Season 3 of Below Deck Down Under to hit Bravo airwaves.

“Anyone else excited for Season 3 of BDDU?” he wrote alongside a video featuring highlights from Season 2.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jason Chambers (@captainjchambers)

The comments section of Captain Jason’s IG post was filled with fans asking about the show, prompting him to ask for help.

Below Deck Down Under’s Captain Jason Chambers asks fans for help

While the hunky captain didn’t spill any filming details or even confirm the season was in the can, he did have some information to drop.

One user wanted to know when Below Deck Down Under would start. There was a response from Above Deck Podcast that the show was currently filming, and then Captain Jason chimed in.

“Talk is this year 🤔 Lets shout out and tell @belowdeckbravo how much we want this…” was his response.

Captain Jason fan help

When more users asked about a premiere date, Captain Jason again encouraged them to reach out to Bravo to let the network know how much fans want the show back on air.

The captain reiterated his hope it would be soon because he thinks “we need another BDDU on our screens soon.” We have to agree with Captain Jason, too!

BDU fans reply to Captain Jason's IG post

Other fans opened up about missing the show, as one user thought the video was a trailer for the new season.

“I know it’s way too long for us all, but let’s bring some good memories back so people ( Bravo) don’t forget we had a good season..,” the captain replied.

It was also brought up that Below Deck Med is on all the time and questioned if Below Deck Down Under isn’t good enough. Captain Jason popped up to explain he loves being an underdog, but a new season is needed immediately.

Captain Jason teases BDU Season 3

There’s no question that Captain Jason is rallying the troops to get Below Deck Down Under Season 3 on Bravo ASAP.

One of his responses, though, has us worried it won’t be until next year as he commented, “One every two years is just too long.”

Captain Jason BDU comments

Captain Jason Chambers and Below Deck Down Under fans want the show back on Bravo.

Unfortunately, the earliest it would air is late next fall. As Monsters and Critics previously reported, the Below Deck Season 11 mid-season trailer just dropped, so it’s only at the halfway point.

That means Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 won’t air until June, and Below Deck Med Season 9 will likely follow sometime in the early fall. Season 3 of Below Deck Down Under should air after those two Below Deck spin-offs wrap.

If Bravo decides to double up episodes, it could make way for Below Deck Down Under Season 3 earlier, but we haven’t heard a peep about that yet.

Below Deck Down Under is currently on hiatus on Bravo. Seasons 1-2 are streaming on Peacock.

BDDU needs to start filming ASAP. I and everyone need more of this great show.

2023 Below Deck Charter Cost: Ultimate Guide

You may consult an expert or yacht broker to get a more accurate cost estimate for a specific yacht. The operating costs of each yacht can vary based on a number of factors, including the size, age, and condition of the yacht, as well as the location of the yacht and the level of use.

Valor yacht is also known as BG Charade

The proud owner of this luxurious vessel is Canadian entrepreneur Bobby Genovese. Though his exact net worth is not public knowledge, Bobby has made a fortune through his successful ventures and investments.

Valor, a 46.88-meter Feadship yacht, has had quite the journey. Built in 1990 and refitted in 2015, Bobby acquired this beauty for a rumored $15,000,000 in that same year. This nearly 154-foot-long yacht can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests and comes with a crew of 10 members.

When it comes to operating costs, you should be aware that renting Valor for your dream vacation will set you back a considerable amount. It is available for charter starting at $260,000 per week, excluding expenses. However, keep in mind that chartering this celebrity-favorite vessel will undoubtedly be a lavish and unforgettable experience.

Ohana is built by Admiral in Italy

The Ohana yacht, featured on Below Deck, is owned by Captain Lee Rosbach and his wife, Lisa. They reside in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and have owned the yacht for over ten years. The couple has two children: a son and a daughter. While we don't have an exact number for their net worth, it is safe to assume that they are quite successful in the yachting industry.

Ohana is a 154-foot (47-meter) long motor yacht built by Admiral in Italy. The cost of the yacht might vary depending on its age, condition, and customization. However, yachts of similar size on the market may lie within the range of $20 million to $40 million. Keep in mind that these numbers are just an estimate; the actual price of Ohana may be different.

Operating a yacht like Ohana can be costly. Some of the annual expenses of maintaining and running a yacht of this size can include fuel, crew salaries, insurance, maintenance, dockage fees, and more. It is typically estimated that the annual operating cost falls between 10% and 15% of the yacht's purchase price. For Ohana, this would mean an operating cost in the ballpark of $2 million to $6 million per year.

Your luxurious vacation on the MY Seanna

The owner of MY Seanna is an entity called Seanna Yacht Holdings LLC, and the net worth of the company is not publicly known. The estimated purchase cost of the yacht is $45 million, and the estimated annual operating cost is $2.5 million to $3 million.

MY Seanna is a 164-foot-long vessel, will come at a pretty penny. The yacht is available for charter at a starting price of $260,000 per week. Keep in mind that this cost doesn't include expenses, which means you'll need to budget for additional costs during your adventure.

‘Below Deck’ Sails Into a New Era

With a different captain at the helm and new production elements, the reality show about charter yachts is switching up its style.

A man in a crew member suit stands behind a bar and tends to flowers in a vase.

By Shivani Gonzalez

Starting a new season of “ Below Deck ” can be similar to returning to summer camp as a kid — you know it’s going to be fun and that you’ll be in the same environment, but some of the people will be different and you’re not quite sure what the vibes will be.

This time around, in particular, feels that way because for the first time in the show’s 11-season run, Captain Lee Rosbach is no longer at the helm. It’s a pivotal moment for a franchise that has become one of the most popular entities in the sprawling universe of reality TV since premiering on Bravo in 2013 . The show’s appeal was built on endless romances between various crew members (“boatmances,” as they came to be known), horrible charter guests and some sort of passive-aggressive fight about how many shackles of the anchor chain should be in the water. And there was always Rosbach presiding over the drama as he trudged around the boat, reeling off one liners like “I’m madder than a pissed-on chicken” and “we screwed the pooch so many times we should have a litter of puppies running around.”

At the center of the show now is Kerry Titheradge (the stern yet goofy captain of “Below Deck Adventure” fame), who is managing the Motor Yacht Saint David with the cheeky chief stew Fraser Olender by his side.

With that change in captain, the energy on the boat — both onscreen and off — is different, according to Olender.

“Lee has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him,” Olender said in an interview. “With Kerry, he taught me a lot and sort of forced to me confront issues directly with my team, work them out, as opposed to making executive decisions too soon.”

This shift in management style changes the central conflict — whereas the drama once focused on the captain swiftly kicking out any unpleasant crew member (as we might have seen with Rosbach), the drama now focuses on the whole crew trying to get along (since Titheradge gives people those second chances).

Additionally, Olender noted that the captain’s relationship with the crew can also affect the drama on board.

“Captains absolutely do get involved, whether they know it or not,” Olender said, adding that for the crew, everything is about “trying to impress your captain.”

This phenomenon plays out early in the new season when the lead deckhand, Ben Willoughby, called out a fellow crew member over the radios about not wearing a life vest — something he easily could have done in private. The drama that followed became an interpersonal conflict between the two of them, both with the ultimate goal of impressing Titheradge. (Of course, the two deckhands had kissed on the previous crew night out, which is more in line with the “Below Deck” drama viewers are used to.)

For “Below Deck” showrunners, the changeovers in the cast allowed them to rethink what the show would look like.

From the season premiere, it was immediately apparent that Rosbach’s absence wasn’t the only change this season: The filming is sleeker, the daily, multicourse meals prepared by the chef are given their own glamour shots and the cameras sometimes cut to the perspectives of yachties running around on deck and through the galley.

“Our showrunner, Lauren Simms, is an avid consumer of all different kinds of media,” Noah Samton, a senior vice president of unscripted current production for NBCUniversal, said in an interview. “She pitches us different ideas on how to stylistically evoke different feelings and change the mood a little bit of ‘Below Deck’ without removing what really works.”

Moving through the rest of the season, and potentially through seasons to come, Olender is aiming to bring a cutthroat management style while also bringing affection for his stews, all with his signature British humor.

On Bravo’s side, there are changes in the works for the other “Below Deck” spinoffs — including “Sailing Yacht,” “Mediterranean” and “Down Under” — which collectively, have 26 seasons. Specifically, Samton said that “Down Under” is currently filming and that even though fans should be ready to see new things, the show will stay true to its original concept.

“These are real yachties doing a real job so you have to stay within those confines because the audience isn’t going to want anything that is too produced or fake,” Samton said. “So we have to find ways to reinvent while staying true to the original concept of the show.”

And as Olender said: “I’m sure that every year if I were to work with this franchise again, that I’ll be thrown a collection of total chaotic and disastrous stews — that’s what makes it watchable.”

An earlier version of this article misquoted Fraser Olender, the chief stew of “Below Deck.” He said, “I also feel like Kerry this season. ... Lee has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him,” not “I feel like Kerry this season, as opposed to Lee, has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him.”

Screen Rant

9 below deck franchise deckhands who came off as lazy.

A few deckhands have left the Below Deck franchise because they were unable to meet the high work standards, appearing careless and inattentive.

  • Laura Bileskalne and Lexi Wilson are examples of bad Below Deck stews who preferred socializing over working hard.
  • Robert Westergaard was preoccupied with personal matters, which hindered his performance as a deckhand.
  • Crew members like Benny Crawley and Max Salvador had bad attitudes - they weren't team players.

Below Deck has featured some interesting deckhands over the years, some of whom weren't good fits for their jobs. Over the years, many unworthy cast members have appeared on the Bravo series. One such name was Laura Bileskalne from Below Deck Down Under . The former Stew was terrible at her job and didn’t respect personal boundaries. Aesha Scott even accused her of caring less about the work and more about her appearance. Ultimately, Captain Jason Chambers did what was necessary to keep his yacht afloat. He fired Laura for her inappropriate behavior and bad manners.

In Below Deck Mediterranean season 3, Lexi Wilson was another horrible Stew. She lacked professionalism and had a poor work ethic, which prevented her from performing her duties. She also prioritized less meaningful things like socializing over caring for the guests, showing that she was a dysfunctional team member. Camille Lamb from Below Deck season 2 was no better. She'd tangle with her crew mates, creating unnecessary drama. Camille was such a bad worker that she never met her deadlines.

Ultimately, Captain Sandy Yawn fired her for being unsuitable for her stewardess position.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

9 robert westergaard, below deck mediterranean.

Like some of the stews, a few deckhands weren't exactly great at their jobs. Robert Westergaard from Below Deck Mediterranean season 5 was somewhat of a mixed bag. He was preoccupied with other things, rather than really caring about his job. Rob pursued Jessica More and didn’t seem very focused on his work. The Bravo cameras also captured him texting his ex-girlfriend and struggling to build romantic relationships . If he'd boarded the yacht with a work-oriented mindset, Rob might have achieved his potential.

Unfortunately, it seemed like he was there to have a post-breakup trip.

8 Ben “Benny” Crawley

Below deck down under.

Benny Crawley was in Below Deck Down Under season 1. He looked good initially, but was atrocious at his deckhand job. Benny’s issues were related to his insubordination. He wasn’t a good team player and wanted to work on his own. He also argued a lot with former bosun Jamie Sayed. The worst thing about Benny was his inability to commit to the tasks and do his job properly. The young man crossed the line when he declined Captain Jason’s disco ball helmet, showing he was too lazy to have fun. Benny didn’t respect the hierarchy.

On a yacht, the crew has to respect the chain of command.

7 Culver Bradbury

Culver Bradbury’s subpar performance as a deckhand will always be remembered. When the Maryland man debuted in the franchise, he proclaimed himself the “Chief Entertainment Officer.” His actions on the show, especially his brief romantic connections with Tzarina Mace-Ralph and Jaimee Neale, showed that he was simply not ready to work. When João Franco returned to the series in season 2, even he noticed Culver’s laziness . He called him out for his unimpressive performance and flippant demeanor. All of Culver’s crew members felt he lacked leadership skills. Still, Culver somehow became the interim bosun due to Luke Jones’ sudden exit.

6 Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux

Below deck sailing yacht.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht ’s Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux had a fancy name but wasn’t a good deckhand. The former Bravo star didn’t have the skills or the desire to do his job. He often neglected his duties. At one point, Captain Glenn Shephard allowed Jean to prove his competence while dealing with a dangerous situation. However, he missed the opportunity. Per Reality Tea , Kate Chastain threw shade at Jean by implying that he wasn’t smart. Dani Soares has also claimed Jean isn’t stepping up as a father to their baby.

Below Deck: 8 Reasons Why Captain Lee Rosbach Will Never Return To The Show

5 tom pearson.

Tom Pearson was a deckhand in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3. He had a major drinking problem that made him seem like a mean person. Besides his immature attitude, Tom was irresponsible and unprepared to work on a luxury yacht. He was rude to other crew members, including Ashley Marti and Gary King. Captain Glenn gave Tom endless chances, but things blew up when Tom messed up while anchor-watching. To make matters worse, he didn’t own up to his mistakes in time, pushing Captain Glenn to send him home where he belonged.

4 Parker McCown

Parker McCown was never a good deckhand because he couldn’t follow orders. He was too lazy to use common sense - Parker messed up a lot of tasks. When Paget Berry told Parker to organize a beach picnic, he used a shovel to hurl the rocks around the beach. The strategy made no sense and showed how little attention Parker paid to his senior’s instructions . When Jenna MacGillivray asked Parker about it, he had a bad attitude. He snapped at her because she asked a simple question, pushing Captain Glenn to intervene. Parker left Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 1 in episode 12.

3 Max Salvador

At first, Max Salvador seemed like the perfect guy for his deckhand job. However, it didn’t take long for the crew members to realize he had a massive ego and lazy attitude. Max constantly complained about others and yacht life. He whined about not getting enough breaks from work, argued with his bosun, and created unnecessary drama. He also rubbed Captain Sandy the wrong way when he needlessly griped about food because he didn’t want to eat what was on the boat. From Lara Du Preez to Haleigh Gorman, most crew members felt Max was shiftless.

2 Shane Coopersmith

Below Deck 's Shane Coopersmith was the highlight of season 8, as he was dubbed the laziest crew member. He wasn’t just bad at his job - he had trouble maintaining a proper schedule outside of work. Shane didn’t respect his job enough to get adequate rest. The lack of sleep caused him to take naps during work, eventually hindering his performance as a deckhand. After fair warnings, the bosun just didn’t know how else to motivate Shane. Therefore, Eddie Lucas fired Shane in episode 7, sending him home to think about what he did wrong.

10 Below Deck Charter Guests Who Will Never Return To The Franchise

1 danny zureikat.

Danny Zureikat was the king of being lazy at his job. The former deckhand broke too many rules in Below Deck Mediterranean season 1 and was fired for being inappropriate. Danny’s biggest issue was treating his Below Deck gig like a vacation. The young man had no boundaries and wanted to hook up with the guests. He was also addicted to using his phone and rarely put it down. In episode 12, the crew had enough of Danny, who was a bad influence . Captain Mark Howard had to step in and cut the Below Deck d eckhand’s supposed bachelor’s trip short.

Below Deck airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo, then streams the following day on Peacock.

Where Are the Below Deck Season 1 Cast Members Now?

Discover where the OG cast — including C.J. LeBeau, Adrienne Gang, and David Bradberry — are today.

eos yacht below deck

When  Below Deck  first set sail in July 2013, now one knew how big of a hit it would be. Today, the original show is part of a major franchise including Below Deck Mediterranean , Below Deck Sailing Yacht , Below Deck Adventure , and Below Deck Down Under  — and we  still  can't get enough of the seafaring drama.

How to Watch

Watch  Below Deck on Bravo Mondays at 9/8c and next day on  Peacock . Catch up on the Bravo App .

That's to say, while there have been many iconic cast members over the years, we'd be remiss to forget the OGs.

"We live together and work together, and when you're in such close quarters it gets stressful. It gets frustrating," said chief stew  Adrienne Gang in Season 1, Episode 1, perfectly summarizing the relationship of her cast (and the groups who would follow).

Ahead, find out what your favorite Below Deck Season 1 cast members — including Adrienne,  Captain Lee Rosbach , Aleks Taldykin , Ben Robinson , C.J. LeBleau , Kat Held , Samantha Orme , Eddie Lucas , and David Bradberry — have been up to in the 10-plus years since the season ended.

Where is Captain Lee Rosbach of Below Deck now?

To no one's surprise, the Stud of the Sea stayed on Below Deck through Season 10. While he didn't return for Season 11, Lee is still doing what he does best — captaining and saying his piece .

Off the water and off the set, he loves spending time with his wife , Mary Anne.

Where is Below Deck 's Season 1 first officer Aleks Taldykin now?

First Officer Aleks made one of the most remarkable cross-franchise Bravo cameos when he showed up on Season 4 of Vanderpump Rules  for a date with Kristen Doute . These days, the Los Angeles native is still in the yachting industry, running a company called Elite Yacht Management.

He's also recently become a father.

"As I turned 38 today, reflecting on life, wanted to share the best birthday gift we could have ever asked for. Our son Krew Taldykin," he shared  via Instagram in March 2024. "He’s already breaking hearts out on the streets, and will be driving yachts in no time."

(Kristen commented a couple of crying face emojis on the announcement, naturally.)

Where is Below Deck 's Chef Ben Robinson now?

Chef Ben has made quite a few appearances in the Below Deck franchise over the years, sticking it out on the OG series until Season 4. He then transitioned to Below Deck Med,  helping  Captain Sandy Yawn out after a team situation turned sour in the galley.

Today, the chef is still cooking his delicacies and traveling the world. He runs a successful catering business and is available for private events, private instruction, and guest appearances. He also launched a  knife  and a  hot sauce  in 2022.

Where is Below Deck Season 1 chief stew Adrienne Gang now?

While Adrienne's tough work ethic didn't always mesh with her team, the first ever Below Deck chief stew certainly knew what she was doing.

In fact, she still works in the industry, serving as culinary director of Blue Oceans Yachting and running a Below Deck -themed podcast called Gangplank Report . In 2018, she married chiropractor Dr. Andrew Danks .

Where is Below Deck Season 1 second engineer C.J. LeBeau now?

You might remember C.J. as the engineer who was running around shirtless in Episode 2, much to Captain Lee's chagrin. If you recall further, he didn't last long, exciting the show after he was caught taking a swim and having a drink with third stew Samantha.

We haven't heard much from him since.

Where is Below Deck second stew Kat Held now?

Kat stuck around for Season 2 of Below Deck , but  told The Daily Dish  in 2015 that she eventually left yachting behind entirely. After realizing she wanted to try something new, she began bartending in Newport and went back to school.

In January 2020, she appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen alongside other franchise favorites to celebrate Below Deck 's 100th episode.

Where is Below Deck Season 1 third stew Samantha Orme now?

Samantha, who went by Sam, came to Below Deck  with some unique experiences: Her family owned an 80-foot catamaran. Working on a boat was a little different than enjoying one, however.

"Working on a mega-yacht is not for me," she eventually shared during a Season 1 confessional. "I had bigger hopes for what this would entail."

These days, Sam is married and has two adorable daughters, of whom she shares the cutest photos on her Instagram .

Where is Below Deck  Season 1 first deckhand Eddie Lucas now?

After working as a deckhand in Season 1, Eddie transitioned to bosun work in Season 2 and 3. During his third go around, Captain Lee had to take Eddie aside after the then-bosun admitted to cheating on his girlfriend with a fellow crew member.

In January 2023, news broke that Eddie had climbed the ranks even further and was captaining a tugboat named   Lynne Moran.

“A lot of it was just hard work, keeping your mouth shut, being quiet. You know that whole ‘squeaky wheel gets the grease’? Well, the squeaky wheel also gets replaced. So just keep your head down and your nose to the grindstone and work hard. And do the right thing. That’s treating people with respect," he told  The Baltimore Banner .  "I think that’s huge, and in my industry, the hierarchy is important. You’ve got to respect it. You don’t want to start arguments until you get to be a captain. Now, I can be a pain in the ass.”

The now-captain also has an adorable dog: Bert .

Where is second deckhand David Bradberry from Below Deck now?

"I've got the least amount of experience and probably the lowest amount of credentials, but give me a challenge and I'll meet it," shared David Bradberry in Episode 1.

While David got engaged during Season 1, he and his longtime partner Trevor Knight are no longer together.

He returned in Season 3 when Captain Lee found himself shorthanded, appearing in Episodes 11-13.

He's since appeared in a number of LGBTQ-themed movies and shorts, according to IMDb .

deep sea dreamer vessel plunges underwater as submarine and surfaces as a yacht

Steve kozloff’s deep sea dreamer.

Designer Steve Kozloff’s Deep Sea Dreamer is a concept submarine that doubles as a yacht , all entirely made of steel. The water vehicle comes with two decks. The lower part features an observation bubble with expansive and panoramic viewing windows, so passengers can watch the species swim and the marine life go about their daily pace.

Going up, the bridge deck can remain on the surface of the sea and invite passengers to unwind and take in air out in the open. Plush recliners and a well-equipped wet bar for refreshments are at their disposal, and the strategically located helm station lets them enjoy scenic views when they want to take a break from the underwater landscape.

concept submarine and yacht in one vessel

While the upper bridge deck makes way for an open-air respite, it is the lower main deck of Steve Kozloff’s Deep Water Dreamer that may appeal to both submarine and yacht fans. As soon as the passengers step inside, the observation salon, comprising four plush recliners positioned right in front of the observation bubble, greets them.

These seats are planted on a glass floor that allows the passengers to watch marine life glide below their feet too. When it’s time for a meal, there’s a dining room just behind the salon, equipped with a galley that features equipment and utensils that hope to awaken the passengers’ inner chefs.

The master suite with a private bathroom and a spacious walk-in closet can accommodate both naps and full sleeps, while a dedicated guest cabin with its own bathroom offers other passengers their own space inside the Deep Sea Dreamer submarine and yacht.

Not to worry when it comes to washing and drying clothes since the submarine slash yacht has a laundry facility. There’s even a watertight elevator and a separate watertight ladder tube that can travel between decks for easy movement and transfer from one place to another.

Electric water vehicle that can remain stationary

For specs buffs, the Deep Sea Dreamer is built for voyages both under and over water. During these long voyages, it can cruise just below the surface through its fixed dorsal snorkel or dive deep into the sea as a full submarine. Steve Kozloff’s submarine-yacht is also electric, and the water vehicle is said to be able to travel up to 100 miles on silent, electric power. It can also remain stationary on the ocean floor for up to seven days, thanks to the onboard batteries.

The Deep Sea Dreamer submarine and yacht can also be fitted with a simple anchor drop or submerged mooring. With its snorkel mast traversing the surface of the sea, the Deep Sea Dreamer can remain planted on the seabed even during tumultuous conditions. When Steve Kozloff designed the submarine, he thought of his wife, Terry, and the many underwater adventures they could share together. He dreamed of them roaming the deep sea together, hence the name. Today, that dream is shared with those who want to hop and voyage in Deep Sea Dreamer.
