Conrad Shipyard Launches C144s ACE

We are delighted to announce the launch of the luxury superyacht ACE, the nation’s new flagship derived from the C144S line. This makes the 44.5-meter bespoke vessel not only the largest motor yacht ever built in the shipyard’s history, but also in Poland.

After two years of fine-tuning, engineering, planning and hard work by many skilled craftsmen at Conrad Shipyard, the 44.5-m superb craft named ACE hits the water for the first time in Gdansk, Poland. Commissioned by a Swiss customer, who was introduced to the shipyard by the Luxury Charter Group, the C144S line’s first hull impresses with its graceful yet sporty and dynamic look.

ACE was ordered in January 2020, and the preparatory work and technical documentation gathering continued until construction of the yacht began in July 2020.

The subject of enormous involvement and the epitome of the custom-build experience, this spectacular vessel benefits from the work of many prominent European companies. The yacht’s exterior came out from the pen of the esteemed British studio Reymond Langton with incredible attention to detail, as well as through fantastic cooperation with the Dutch Diana Yacht Design, responsible for naval architecture and engineering. The interior was designed by the Milan-based company M2 Atelier, composing a truly bespoke décor with an Italian soul. With the shipyard’s in-house team leading the construction, the result is an elegant and timeless design that feels welcoming inside and out

Meeting the highest demands of quality and performance, ACE provides a supreme level of luxury with a custom-tailored interior. She can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in beautifully appointed five staterooms, including the master suite and cabins for nine crew members. With modern and unique lines, this luxury craft remains timelessly stylish.

Constructed out of steel and aluminum for her hull and superstructure, she is equipped with twin CAT engines. The superyacht will be capable of reaching speeds of up to 13 knots and will have a range of about 4,000 nautical miles when traveling at 10 knots.

ACE marks the first unit from the C144S line, Conrad’s superyachts series, which is characterized by a straight bow that is altogether superb, sleek and sexy. The model is a step up from the Conrad C133 model, whose incarnation is the famous 40-meter Viatoris, winner of the 2019 World Superyacht Award. Hull No. 2 of the C144S line is now under construction with the delivery scheduled for 2023. The following C144S yachts will take about 24 months to build.

After delivery to the client, ACE will make her debut on the international charter market with Luxury Charter Group. Nicola Nicolai Yacht Consulting & Project Management supervised the work on the project on behalf of the client.

Ace by Conrad profile

First look inside Poland's largest superyacht Ace

Conrad Shipyard's flagship superyacht Ace has been completed and handed over to her owner after a two-year build and successful sea trials in the Baltic Sea. The 44.3-metre yacht holds the title of the largest superyacht to be built in Poland and her interiors have now been revealed for the first time.

Ace was commissioned by a Swiss owner, who was introduced to the shipyard by the Luxury Charter Group, and began construction in summer 2020. She is the first in Conrad's C144S line and surpasses the shipyard's previous flagship Viatoris by 4.5 metres in length.

An exterior profile by British studio Reymond Langton , in collaboration with Dutch-based Diana Yacht Design and the yard’s in-house team, features black deckhouses, a band of glazing in the hull and a straight bow. “Our signature undercut “rolling wave” on the superstructure reflects the sky above and the water below, simultaneously casting captivating shadows on the decks as the sun moves across the sky," said a representative of Reymond Langton.

Her interior is the work of Milan-based firm M2 Atelier and is based on a “less is enough'' philosophy according to the studio. Only a select few materials were chosen including teak wood, Lasa marble, grey leather, light-coloured fabrics and dark metal accents.

The main saloon is a vast and well-lit space with three sofas designed to give the impression of being suspended above the ground while floor-to-ceiling windows create the feeling of space. Above, the bridge deck features an asymmetrical lounge complete with an L-shaped sofa and a bookcase that conceals a large-screen TV behind a panel.

The master suite is home to a king-size bed with suspended bedside tables and mirrored glass built into the ceiling to create the feeling of space. The full-beam master bathroom is finished in white Lasa marble, equipped with two monolithic sinks and a central walk-in shower. Four guest staterooms, all with en suite bathrooms, are found on the lower deck.

Meanwhile, her outdoor decks comprise a beach club, four lounge areas, an outdoor cinema set-up, two bars and two dining areas with an infinity pool on the top deck. A transverse garage can hold a seven-metre tender alongside two Jet Skis and Sea Bobs.

She has been built in steel and aluminium and is equipped with twin CAT engines delivering a top speed of 13.8 knots and a range of approximately 5,100 nautical miles when travelling at 10 knots. Construction is already underway on the second hull with delivery scheduled for 2023, while the third hull is currently listed for sale with Denison Yachting .

Yacht consulting and project management firm Nicola Nicolai acted as the owner’s pre-purchase advisor and oversaw the build as the owner’s representative and project manager.

Conrad C144S

Conrad Shipyard has launched Hull No. 1 of the C144S, which is believed to be the biggest yacht ever built in Poland.

The yacht, built for a Swiss owner, will be christened Ace . Exteriors are by Reymond Langton and Diana Yacht Design in collaboration with the shipyard. Interiors are by M2 Atelier.

According to the yard, the project took two years to complete at its Gdansk, Poland, location. Future builds are expected to take about the same amount of time.

Clarke. “ Ace is a very high-quality yacht built to Lloyds LY3 and NCA standards. The launch of Hull No. 1 is a huge step for the shipyard and will gain attention as a top-pedigree superyacht whose quality I would put up against any builder in the world.”

Ace is expected to be officially christened on Dec. 5. Hull No. 2 is already sold and under construction, with delivery expected prior to the summer 2023 cruising season.

Is Hull No. 3 of the C144S still available? Yes, and it’s exclusively for sale with Denison Yachting. The asking price is about $26.4 million, and construction could begin immediately.

Conrad Shipyard Announces Upcoming Launch of C144S Hull #1 [ACE]

Conrad to deliver its first c144s – to be named ace – at the end of september..

Conrad Shipyard has announced the upcoming launch of its first C144S, Hull #1, at the end of September. Built for a Swiss owner, the superyacht – which will be named ACE – will set a new record as the biggest yacht built in Poland.

Conrad C144S Hull #1 ACE

“Characterized by a straight bow and elegant lines,” the exterior design of the C144S line is a collaboration of Reymond Langton, Diana Yacht Design, and the Conrad team. M2 Atelier is responsible for her interior design.

Yacht broker Alex G. Clarke , who works closely with the brand, commented: “The C144S is an exciting new project that I am proud to be involved with. Conrad C144S Hull #1 ACE

Clarke sold the C144S Hull #2 last year with SuperYachtsMonaco. She is already under construction and will be delivered just prior to the 2023 summer season.

The C144S Hull #3 is currently offered exclusively for sale with Denison Yachting, asking €25.5 million, with construction ready to start immediately.

Ferguson Marine shipyard boss sacked amid further delays to overdue ferry

T he chief executive of Ferguson Marine, where the two delayed and over-budget CalMac ferries are being built, has been sacked after telling ministers further delays are “likely”.

David Tydeman’s contract was terminated by the state-owned company’s board.

The Scottish Government has said any more delays are “unacceptable”.

The chairman of the Ferguson Marine board said “strong leadership” is now needed to ensure the shipyard’s future and John Petticrew – a non-executive director – has been appointed as interim chief executive.

Mr Tydeman had recently sought to highlight progress on the Glen Sannox, praising its performance in sea trials earlier this year.

But it emerged last month that costs for the Glen Sannox will rise to between £145.5 million and £149.1 million.

Mr Tydeman had previously indicated the ferry would be handed over to CalMac in late May, but it seems this deadline can no longer be met.

Under the latest estimates, the work to build the two ferries will be around triple the first price of £97 million and they will be handed over to the operator six years late.

Responding to news of Mr Tydeman’s sacking, Wellbeing Economy Secretary Mairi McAllan said it is a matter for the board.

She added: “I am focused on the Scottish Government’s priorities of completing the two ferries, ensuring FMPG (Ferguson Marine Port Glasgow) drives down on costs, and securing a sustainable future for the yard and its skilled workforce.

“While the yard had previously stated that the delivery date for Glen Sannox was planned for late May, we are aware that, in the last week, the outgoing CEO intimated further delay was likely.

“That is unacceptable. I know the board are intent on doing everything they can to ensure that delay does not happen.

“I will be stressing to the new interim CEO and the board the importance of the ferries entering service to our island communities as soon as possible.”

It is understood the board had raised concerns about Mr Tydeman’s performance before his contract was terminated.

In Holyrood on Tuesday, Inverclyde SNP MSP Stuart McMillan sought to table an urgent question on the situation by forcing a vote to discount the deadline for such a question to be submitted to Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone.

The subsequent vote was defeated by 49 votes to 55, halting any chance of the question being answered by the Government .

It is not yet clear how votes were cast, but Constitution Secretary Angus Robertson told the chamber he voted no, suggesting the Scottish Government blocked the question.

Speaking in the chamber, Ms McAllan reiterated that issues relating to Mr Tydeman’s position are a matter for the Ferguson Marine board.

As well as Mr Petticrew, a number of other senior appointments were announced by the Ferguson Marine board on Tuesday.

Board chairman Andrew Miller said: “Ferguson Marine needs strong leadership to ensure its long-term future.

“The board recognised that action needed to be taken to restructure the current leadership team and it has taken these steps to address this.

“Our focus is on the completion of Glen Sannox and hull 802 (Glen Rosa), and the implementation of a robust business plan to improve the commercial viability of Ferguson Marine.”

In February, Mr Miller told MSPs it would be harder to return the business to the private sector without investment in a new automated plating line – with the company seeking further finance from the Scottish Government.

The company is due to submit a new business case for this to the Government by the end of this month.

In 2022, a number of Ferguson Marine workers who took part in an informal meeting with MSPs praised Mr Tydeman’s leadership and compared him favourably to the shipyard’s previous management, saying he “talked sense”.

Mr Tydeman joined the Port Glasgow shipyard in 2022, having previously run a yacht-building company.

The GMB trade union said stability is needed at the shipyard.

Alex Logan, the union’s convener at the yard, said: “Whoever is to blame for the problems with these ferries, it is categorically not the workers.

“They are skilled, committed and have endured years of unfair criticism and ongoing uncertainty about the future of their yard.

“Given the opportunity and the right leadership, this workforce can build a far brighter future for Ferguson Marine.

“We wish the new leadership of the yard well, but they must be given every possible support from the Scottish Government to urgently build and deliver a business plan that will secure contracts, protect skills and sustain jobs.”

Responding to the news, Scottish Conservative shadow transport spokesman Graham Simpson said: “It’s shocking that Glen Sannox is facing yet another delay.

“Mairi McAllan describes that as ‘unacceptable’ and appears to have sacked David Tydeman because of it.

“She must now come to Parliament to explain the extent of the latest delays and the cost implications for the taxpayer.

“SNP ministers can’t pass the buck. It’s their responsibility for these two vessels being six years late and hugely over budget.”

Edward Mountain, convener of Holyrood’s Transport Committee, said: “Following today’s announcement, the committee will hold the newly structured management team to delivering on the commitment that both the Glen Sannox and the Glen Rosa will be ships we can be proud of.

“We will continue to seek regular updates from the management team and Scottish ministers.”
