COUACH BIRTH

Albert Couach creates the world’s first marine engines in Arcachon, France. This is how the first Couach entity was born.

Accompanied by Auguste Bert, Albert Couach developed the first motorized “pinasse” in the Arcachon bay called “Libellule”.

ENGINE DEVELOPMENT

The family business is taken over by Albert’s two sons, Robert and Louis, who develop the Couach engine business.

FIRST SERIES PRODUCTION BOAT

Guy Couach created Arcoa. Under Arcoa, Guy Couach launched the mass production of boats.

The yard launches a 10.50 meter Pinasse (Arcoa 48), and sells more than 400 units. The majority of which will be exported to Africa, Madagascar and Asia. All the models are designed by Guy Couach, “the Great French Shipbuilder”.

BEST SELLER

The shipyard signs one of the best-selling models at the time, the Arcoa 1060. 60 years later, the marine performances of the Couach boats are still recognized all around the world.

Birth of the entity “Guy Couach”. Guy Couach builds his shipyard in Gujan Mestras next to Arcachon and thus equips himself with his own tools and installations for shipbuilding.

THE FIRST YACHT

The Guy Couach shipyard presents its first yacht model, the 1200.

Guy Couach goes on the offensive and revolutionizes the French market with his 920. 88 units are built.

DIVERSIFICATION

The company develops a range of surveillance launches for national and international maritime and government agencies. It then becomes a leading supplier to naval armies.

LEADER IN FRANCE

Guy Couach has become the undisputed leader in France for boats from 9 to 16 meters.

Pierre Couach, son of Guy, joined the family yard. An admirer of his father’s work, this architect by training initiates the modernization of the range with a new approach to design. The yard is embarks into larger yachts reaching 28 meters.

The shipyard is sold. Pierre Couach begins the redesign of the 12 to 20 metre range. Success lies with the new 185 Fly of which seven units are sold in the first year.

NEW STRATEGY

Strategic evolutions guide the company to manufacture larger yachts from 20 to 32 meters. Success comes again, this time with the 2200 FLY with a production of 5 units the first year (45 in total).

THE YEAR OF CHANGE

The Guy Couach shipyard is now called Couach Yachts. To perfect this strategy, Couach buys the International Marine Service refit shipyard “IMS Shipyard” in St Mandrier which will become its technical base in the Mediterranean. International sales are developing.

COUACH SIGNATURE

Following the “Open Yacht” trend, Couach presents a new design signature.

37’S SUCCESS

The 3700 Fly is the largest yacht ever built by the Couach shipyard at the time. It was a great success and even before the first launch of this new 37-metre model, 5 orders had already been received. The shipyard then began major works and built a 4400 m² hall which will accommodate the construction of a 50-metre yacht.

NATURAL ELEGANCE

Natural elegance and sporty refinement are the terms that best describe the design strategy of Couach yachts. The construction of the first two 5000 Fly units and the construction of a gigantic launching ramp is launched. Couach confirms its focus on the production of large units.

NEPTEAM GROUP

Nepteam Holding, owned by local investors, acquires the Couach firm. Thus contributing to the revitalization of industrial activity in the Arcachon bay and Mediterranean facilities.

THE PELLEGRINA

Couach presents its very first 50 meter : The Pellegrina. She is a reel concentrate of technology at the service of maritime performance and luxury.

THE BIG SECRET

Couach confirms its know-how by launching its second 50-meters yacht called “Belongers” with a level of quality never before achieved. Couach begins, in the greatest secrecy, to make halls in its premises for a new project … a few months later and give rise to the dissemination of information: the construction of a 44 m has already started .

NOVELTY & OUTCOME

New management team, new sales, marketing and design concepts; a new wind is blowing on the site. It is in this dynamic infatuation that Couach begins the complete overhaul of its in-house yacht range. Couach launches Tosca, its third 499 GT motor yacht in 6 years that surpasses all market standards. At the same time, a 23-metre Couach is signed at the same time.

MAJOR SIZE DELIVERY

The year began with the launch of one of the largest ships that Couach built : The 4700 Fly. A few months later, another unit from the brand’s know-how was launched : the fifth unit of Couach’s 2300 Fly series called “Armonee”.

BUSINESS AWARD

Couach is awarded a contract to build a 17-metre interceptor capable of speeds up to 60 knots. In 2017, Couach will deliver 54 units in twelve months for the famous Lürssen shipyard. The company took advantage of this exercise to develop a unique industrial tool enabling the construction of a 16.50 metre boat per week.

4200 LOUNGE

The success of the new Couach is also marked by the brand new innovative model designed in-house: the “Lounge” model, which is no less than 42 metres long. At the same time, the yard powers its production line and delivers the hull and deck of the first VanDutch 75′ and launches three Wally Power 52′ under construction.

ALWAYS BIGGER

Couach launches the production of the seventh 37-metre unit, the 3707 Fly, which is also its 33rd yacht over 28 metres in length. At the same time, the company prepares for the construction of the new “Couach Concept”, a 42-metre hybrid: The 4200 Lounge.

COUACH IN THE WORLD OF SEA RESCUE

Couach wins another historic contract in France for the design and construction of more than 70 safety boats for the French sea rescue company. This contract includes vessels ranging from 8 to 17 meters long.

Couach unveils its new yachts ranging from 23 to 52 metres. Defined in 2 distinct ranges:

Couach Yachts France

Couach Yachts, now called Chantier Naval Couach (CNC) is a historic French shipyard founded in 1897 that specialises in exceptional made-to-measure superyachts and megayachts built entirely in Glass Kevlar that range from 20 to 50 metres in length. Couach Yachts began its long history in 1897 when Albert Couach created the first marine engine called Arcachon. Couach Yachts went on to specialise in both military and civilian watercraft and in 1996 the shipyard spread its reach into the world of larger, tailor-made motor yachts. In 2005, after the acquisition of the Refit International Marine Service in St Mandrier, Couach was able to extend its luxury yacht range from 20-33 meters. In 2007, the 3700 Fly motor yacht was introduced to a resounding success and even before the first launch of the new 37m model, five orders were already registered. After constructing a new hall of 4400 m2, Couch began to develop the first two units 5000 Fly in 2008 bringing the yard into the luxury megayacht market.

In 2009, the historic French shipyard was renamed Chantier Naval Couach (CNC) after being taken over by Mr. Fabrice Vial, Founder and Chairman of the industrial Group Vial which saw the yard reinforce its creation of “Yacht Couture”; the purest tradition of French craftsmanship. This signature “Couture” offers superyacht client’s unique design and optimal performance with a range of options available for fittings and decoration.

Coauch yachts claim that “Common sense, accuracy, ingenuity and 100 years of naval construction constitute our secret for attaining perfection for each of our yachts.” The luxury motor yachts feature a deep "V" shaped hull, ideal for speed, distance and all weather conditions.  Entirely built in Glass Kevlar® fibre, the hull is 4 times more resistant to shocks than any aluminium or polyester hull, is more rigid, more solid, lighter and thus faster with more autonomy.

The Chantier Naval Couach (CNC) shipyard is based in the Bassin d’Arcachon on the French Atlantic coast and employs over 300 craftsmen. From equipment to layout, design, woodwork, couture and fittings Couachs’ made to measure fast luxury yachts enable them to offer a very high level of service for an elite superyacht clientele. From the shipyards commercial agency and show room in the Port of Cannes, Quai St Pierre, CNC are able to accompany clients through the different options available for made to measure fittings and decoration throughout the stages of construction.

As well as building luxury motor yachts, Chantier Naval Couach (CNC) shipyard also conceives patrol and work boats under the name of Plascoa using composite materials. Cartouche has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites. She is also capable of carrying up to 2 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Built with a GRP hull and GRP superstructure, with teak decks, she has impressive speed and great efficiency thanks to her planing hull. Powered by twin diesel MTU (16V 2000 M90) 1,798hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 23 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 27 knots with a range of up to 600 nautical miles from her 10,000 gallon fuel tanks at 24 knots. Her water tanks store around 2,000 Gallons of fresh water. She was built to BV (Bureau Veritas) classification society rules.
