Mahé is the main island of the Seychelles Archipelago . It is about 28 kms long and 8 kms wide. There you can find the airport, the capital Victoria and the seat of Government.

This island is a natural sanctuary thanks to many species of exotic flora which developed over the centuries. The grandeur of granite rocks and the deep green in which they are plunged, contrast with the blue of the sea and the white of the beach that starts where the vegetation ends.

In 1609 the British landed for the first time in Mahe. Then, the island was ignored until 1742 when the French took possession of it thanks to the arrival of Lazare Picault and its shipment in order to colonize the archipelago. The Seychelles in 1814 became a British colony, up to the independence in 1976.

In a few hours you can visit the island by car by visiting all major beaches overlooked by many resorts and luxury hotels.

Enjoy a relaxing cruise aboard luxury crewed Sailing Catamaran with the fun and adventure of sailing and cruising at your own leisurely pace. Seychelles sailing trip aboard crewed catamaran offers a great chance to enjoy stunning landscapes, sunbathe, snorkel and relax on a spacious deck. There are number of water sports facilities offered on board of the catamaran from snorkeling equipment to fishing gear to keep you busy during the day.

Mahe – St. Anne Marine Park

Boarding will be in Mahe late morning. Enjoy a welcome drink while we are setting sails for the night anchorage at Saint Anne Marine Park.

Cousin – Baie St. Anne (Praslin)

In the morning we will arrive to Cousin Island, a natural reserve and home to rare species of birds and giant tortoises. After lunch on board of the catamaran we will sail to Praslin. There you will have a chance to visit the Vallee de Mai, one of the places in the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is one of only two places in the world where you can see the rare «Coco de mer» palms growing in their natural state. Take a walk through the valley under these beautiful giant trees that reach height over 40 meters. Gently swaying in the wind, they fill the air with mysterious rustling. Mooring for the night in St. Anna harbor.

Grande Soeur (Praslin)

Morning passage to Grande Soeur. Here we will have barbecue on one of the most picturesque beaches in Seychelles. Take a short walk to explore the island, practice some water sports, or relax on the deck. Anchorage for the night in Curieuse or Anse Petite Cour.

Anse Lazio (Praslin)

Curieuse Island is a part of the Marine National Park, home for more than a hundred of tortoises. After lunch we will sail to Saint Pierre islet covered with massive rounded rocks crowned by tall palms swaying gently in the wind. This is a typical scenery of Seychelles depicted in countless glossy magazines! Apart of beautiful scenery it is an excellent snorkeling spot with magnificent underwater world. Anchorage in Anse Volbert or Anse Lazio, Praslin for the night.

Take your time for snorkeling and swimming or simply sunbathing on beautiful beaches of Praslin Island. After launch we will sail back to Mahe.

Final breakfast aboard before a farewell with your crew and disembarkation by 10:00.

Seychelles coastal waters home to a huge number of rare marine inhabitants: butterfly fish, razor fish, Picasso fish, stone fish, hammerhead shark, shark Mademoiselle, big-nosed shark, blue marlin, fish Cardinal, 17 species sea urchins, swordfish, yellow-fin tuna and toothy, brown and green moray eels and oldest and largest tortoises in the world.Most dive sites are within 10-40 minutes by boat from the shore. Professional instructors working in diving centers, speak several languages and it is possible to rent the necessary equipment.Visibility in the open sea can be up to 30 meters with water temperature form 24 to 30C.Diving season is limited by the monsoons, as the greatly reduced water clarity. Seychelles underwater world is presented in all its glory during periods of April-May and September-October.

Seychelles is a paradise for those who love fishing. The most notable trophies can be caught during the summer. During this period you may catch tuna, barracuda, tiger shark and mako shark, or even blue swordfish and blue marlin weighting over 400 kg.Best time for fishing is early morning. To have time to catch some small fish first and then use it as a bate for a lrger trophies. Bring your fresh catch on the boat and our chief will make a perfect dish for you and your fiends.

You may try sufing during you sailing trip. Mahe and Praslin are the best places for this sports. Grand Anse the beach on the north-west of Mahe is the most popular place among surfers: waves here reach two meters. Other Mahe beaches, suitable for surfing are: Beau Vallon and Anse Bougainville. The best season for surfing is from November to April.

HOW TO GET THERE

Main international airport is located on Mahe Island, 6 miles southeast from Victoria, capital of Seychelles. There are number of flights with 1 stop from United States operated by Emirates and Etihad Airways and a lot of options of direct flights from Europe including flights operated by Air Seychelles.

Transfer from the airport to the base is not included. However, we can help to arrange transfer by special request. Please inform us at least 2 weeks prior to the first date of your sailing vacation by filling an appropriate form (number of guests, flight number, time and date of arrival).

The Seychelles are a dream destination for many travellers. No wonder - beautiful countryside, crystal white beaches washed by the Indian Ocean, palm trees, rocks of granite and very friendly pleasant people. Explore with us Sainte Anne coral reef sea life marine park, enjoy diving at the island of Ile Cocos or visit La Digue island, probably the most beautiful island in the Seychelles. During our voyage we will anchor at the island of Curieuse, where huge turtles reside and then cruise to another island called Praslin, where endemic coconut palms (Coco de Mer) grow in the rainforest (strangely, these are coconuts in the shape of human buttocks).

The Seychelles has so many beautiful attractions that you will not know what to photograph first! Maybe the island of St. Pierre, the vanilla plantations on the island of La Digue, or even the turtles who like to come to you for some nibbles. We will cruise on the spacious catamaran Mojito 82, where you can enjoy total comfort. And may we say - the Seychelles are beautiful throughout the whole year. The word winter is almost obsolete. So you can enjoy the weather any time of the year.

There are 8 days (7 nights) full of fun on board the luxurious catamaran Mojito 82.

Day 1: Mahé – St. Anne Marine Park

We will board at Mahé island and then dock at Sainte Anne Marine Park for the night. The Marine Park is an underwater national park, which includes six islands of the coast of Mahé. It is a protected area since 1973. Fishing, the collecting of shells and coral is prohibited here. The clear and peaceful waters at St. Anne is a must for divers.

Day 2: St. Anne Marine Park – Cocos Island – La Digue

After lunch we will sail to Cocos Island, which is constructed of large rocks with indented stripes   carved by the sea. While snorkelling you can view schools of thousands of fish here. In the evening we will be docking in the beautiful port of La Digue.

Day 3: La Digue

At La Digue we can hire bikes and ride through probably the most beautiful island in the Seychelles. There are no cars on the island, just bikes, carts pulled by oxen and horses. The road winds under tall palm trees, past houses with roofs constructed from palm leaves. There are small factories producing coconut oil, beaches with fine white sands and large rocks. We can go horse riding as well if you choose.

Day 4: La Digue – Cousin – Baie St. Anne (Praslin)

Cousin island is a nature reserve park with rare species of birds and giant turtles. In the afternoon we will go to the nearby Praslin island and visit Vallé de Mai. This is a valley protected by UNESCO, where endemic coconut palms called Coco de Mer grow in the rainforest. We will dock in Baie St. Anne.

Day 5: Baie St. Anne – Grande Soeur – Curieuse or Anse Petite Cour (Praslin)

On the island of Grande Soeur we will have a BBQ on one of the most beautiful beaches in the Seychelles and then we will take a 40 minute stroll along the island. You can enjoy water sports or simply relax in the sunshine. We'll dock for the night in Curieus or Anse Petite Cour.

Day 6: Curieuse – Saint Pierre – Anse Volbert or Anse Lazio (Praslin)

More than a hundred turtles live on Curieus island, which is a part of the national sea park. After lunch we will go to Saint Pierre, a little island surrounded by rocks with a cluster of high palms gently blowing in the wind. An excellent snorkelling area with beautiful underwater scenery. We will then anchor for the night in Ans Volbert or Anse Lazio (Praslin).

Day 7: Anse Volbert or Anse Lazio (Praslin) – Mahé

You can enjoy water sports, snorkelling and swimming on the beautiful coastline of the island Praslin. There is clear water, fine sands, granite rocks, palm trees and the feeling that you are the only person on the island. As an added benefit you can share the sea with the rays that swim close to the shore! We will then return to Mahé in the afternoon.

Day 8: Mahé

After sleeping on board the catamaran Mojito 82 for the last night we will then dock in the early hours of the morning in Mahé.

Description

Climb aboard the catamaran, " Mojito 82 ," and embark on a four-day sailing adventure from Praslin , past other islands' untouched nature and pristine beaches , and right up to Curieuse Island . Discover the colorful underwater world during snorkeling explorations, and get to know Seychelles' flora and fauna. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for Curieuse Island's highlight: giant tortoises ! Before returning to the Praslin, visit Saint Pierre Island , known for its majestic granite rocks .

The best time to travel to Seychelles is from June to October. From mid-May to the beginning of June, July, and August, the ocean is sometimes rough and quite choppy. For our divers, snorkelers and sailors, visit the small islands in April, May, and November for the best conditions.

Your sailing trip begins on Praslin's tropical bay, Sainte Anne . At 9 AM, you will sail to Grand Soeur, where you will take a quick detour before heading to Curieuse Island.

Spend your first day on the island basking in the sun, hiking up two steep and stony hills, and exploring the small coconut plantation . In about 40 minutes, you will have already seen all of the tourist attractions of the island. So now you have the entire day to snorkel, try an adventurous water sport, or relax on the white, powdery beach. In the evening, you can enjoy a beachfront barbeque and stay at the Bay of Curieuse or Anse Petite Cour .

In the early morning, wake up to a beautiful tropical view and a delicious breakfast on your catamaran, Mojito 82 . Today, you will explore the Curieuse Island's Marine National Park, the granitic island's flora and fauna sanctuary and home to more than 300 giant tortoises. The giant tortoises live here freely, so it's the perfect place to get to know the gentle animals.

After lunch on board, continue to the quaint Saint Pierre Island . Capture unforgettable photos of Seychelles' typical granite rocks. You can also discover the unique underwater world and the many colorful fish that live here!

When you anchor on Praslin in the evening, you will either stay at Anse Volbert or Anse Lazio .

Snorkeling, swimming, and water sports are on today's list of adventures! Enjoy the first part of your day on Praslin; then, in the afternoon, you will continue your journey to Mahé. Spend your last night onboard Mojito 82 off the coast of Mahé.

Sadly, your sailing adventure has come to an end. Early in the morning, you will disembark your catamaran at the Mahé harbor. Thank the captain and the crew for their hard work and walk back onto land with many unforgettable memories.

Catamaran (Mojito 82)

The sailing adventure takes place with the seaworthy catamaran, Mojito 82 Dream Seychelles . The spacious cockpit of the 25-meter-long catamaran can hold a maximum of 24 people and invites you to sunbathe on its beautiful decks. The catamaran has a TV, HiFi/CD/radio equipment, and a galley. There is a captain, waiter, cook, and deckhand on board.

Laundry: 2 sheets, bath towel, and beach towel per person/week.

Standard cabin (approx. 6.5 m²): These twelve cabins are air-conditioned and include a bathroom with a shower and a double bed. You can reach the eight cabins via the staircase and the other four cabins from the salon.

Water Sports (included) : kayaking and snorkeling.

Duration of the trip: 4 days / 3 nights

Giannis is the holder of an RYA Yachtmaster Offshore license, certified in GMDSS, firefighting, first aid and lifesaving. He studied physical education speciallising on sailing at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. At the age of eighteen he got his license for Coastal and Competitive sailing in nautical club of Thessaloniki. Languages He is a Greek native speaker and he speaks English very fluently. Over the years, Giannis has undertaken numerous seagoing transfer assignments and has skippered both private and charter vessels (39 to 62 ft) - power boats, motor and sailing yachts (monohulls and catamaran)- both in Greek and international waters. He is really connected with the yacht “Mojito” because he was the one that observed the final part of the construction procedure and he also delivered it from the shipyard of Italy to Greece. Since then, he is sailing with “Mojito” around the Ionian islands, an area which he is very experienced with, as he used to sail with his father from a very young age. For this reason, he knows all the secret spots, hidden creeks and picturesque villages of the area. His gentle demeanor and easy-going personality make him well loved and respected by all who have the pleasure of sailing with him. At his free time, he enjoys kitesurfing and waterskiing

Moscow mules: “mojitos” with nostalgia and bite.

Moscow Mules are traditionally served in copper mugs.

Ok, not quite a mojito, but if you’re looking for a simple, refreshing, nostalgic cocktail, then a Moscow Mule might be just the ticket. Reminiscent of a mojito, this drink has a ginger bite, but is equally addictive.  Simple because it traditionally has only three ingredients:  vodka, ginger beer, and lime.  Refreshing because its a sweet and citrusy drink that’s served cold over ice.  Nostalgic because its origin dates back to 1941, just after prohibition.

History Behind the Cocktail

So the story goes…three gentlemen,  Jack Morgan, president of Cock ‘n’ Bull Products and producer of ginger beer; John G. Martin, president of G.F. Heublein Brothers Inc. of Hartford, Conn.; and Rudolph Kunett, president of the Pierre Smirnoff, Heublein’s vodka division met one evening over drinks. Brainstorming over new marketing schemes to boost vodka and ginger beer sales, they began experimenting with the idea of combining 2 shots of vodka with ginger beer and a squeeze of lime.  Before long, mugs of ice were served and new drink craze, “The Moscow Mule”, was born.  Morgan began marketing the drink in copper mugs (still the traditional serving method), and vodka sales nearly tripled, replacing gin as the liquor of choice.

Moscow Mule Recipes

Thirsty for a Moscow Mule?  Let’s start with the most simple and traditional version:

Traditional Moscow Mule

1 part vodka 1 part lime juice 3 parts ginger beer ( recipe )

Mix ingredients and serve over ice in traditional copper mugs.

If you caught the episode of Oprah camping in Yosemite, then you saw her serving Moscow Mules to her camping neighbors, in the traditional copper mugs no less.  Well here’s the  recipe that Oprah uses .

1 1/4 oz Smirnoff vodka 3 oz. ginger beer ( recipe ) 1 tsp. sugar syrup 1/4 oz. lime juice 1 sprig mint 1 slice lime

In a copper mug, pour vodka over ice. Add sugar syrup and lime juice. Top with ginger beer and stir. Garnish with mint sprig and lime slice.

Sugar syrup:  Mix 1 part water and 1 part sugar – bring to boil in saucepan until sugar dissolves and cool.  That’s it!

Variations on a Moscow Mule

Tons of variations have evolved from this basic recipe.  Below are just a few ideas for you to play with, or create your own variations.  Just be sure to post them for the rest of us to try!

• Mule’s Kick, served over crushed ice in a copper (or other metal) mug, with no fruit.
• Three Legged Mule, with  Jameson Irish Whiskey
• Passionfruit Mule, served with 42BELOW Passionfruit vodka. Also known as Passionate Mule in the UK.
• Mule Special, served with slice of orange instead of lime and seasoned with salt and pepper. Very Popular in NZ.
• Garden Mule, served with fresh melon & cucumber slices crushed into a shaker (o. Severino)
• Vanilla Mule, served with vanilla vodka, lime juice (and a wedge), ginger beer, bruised mint leaves, over ice.
• Mexican Mule, which replaces the vodka with Tequila and Kahlúa which is in turn added to the ginger beer and lime juice, over ice.
• Paris Mule, with  Grey Goose  La Poire, Anjou pear flavored vodka.
• Satanic Mule, with lemon replacing the lime and adding mint leaves.
