LIFE SAGA yacht interior

The LIFE SAGA yacht interior was penned by English designer Mark Berryman. His signature is all over the yacht with a timeless and contemporary style.

The owner visualized a cappuccino-themed interior, which inspired the neutral and warm color palette that can be seen today.

LIFE SAGA uses many different types of wood such as oak, walnut, and teak to create a relaxed and cozy atmosphere, while the leather finishes on the walls make for well thought out good contrast.

Some of the furniture was custom-made by the well-known Italian company Belvedere.

LIFE SAGA can accommodate 12 guests on board in six comfortable staterooms, as well as 17 crew members, including the yacht captain, Chris Delves.

The LIFE SAGA yacht offers an outdoor living area, spa pool, sauna, cinema lounge, gym, and a massage area for the owner and his family to enjoy.

life saga yacht front

The LIFE SAGA yacht features exterior design by Uniellé Yacht Design along with Admiral Yachts. The latter was also responsible for the yacht’s naval architecture.

She has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure plus four decks and a double-height glass right at the center of the vessel.

According to the LIFE SAGA’s captain, the owner wanted the exterior to be a combination of classic and modern forms.

Owner's logbook: swapping a sailing yacht for an explorer and catching dogtooth tuna in Bali

Every month, superyacht owners reveal where they are in the world and share their future plans. This month, BOAT speaks to Marcus Blackmore about switching from a sailing yacht to an explorer (while racing around Australia), and Bob Giles about hooking tuna and trevally on board his 30-metre VivieRae ...

Marcus Blackmore, owner of Nauta Air 110

Length: 33.5m Year: 2025 Location: Ancona

You’re building your first big motor yacht. What prompted that decision? We have been following Cantiere delle Marche ’s success in the explorer market for some years. While sailing our Southern Wind in the Caribbean we had the opportunity to look over a Nauta Air 110 and Caroline, my wife, fell in love with that boat. Having decided to sell the large sailing boat we thought a new motor boat would be our cruising choice for the next few years, so the CdM Nauta Air 110 became the one. We signed the contract in February.

How have you modified the design for your purposes? We have had fairly detailed discussions with CdM over the past few months to finally agree a general arrangement for the boat. Caroline wanted two distinct lounge spaces, hence a focus on an upper saloon, and I wanted a comfortable lounge in the wheelhouse for guests. I guess the old adage of “happy wife, happy life” prevailed on the relatively minor changes we made to the basic boat.

Who will do the interior design? The exterior and interior design will be done by Mario Pedol and Massimo Gino at Nauta Design , who also did our last two sailing yachts. We have found them excellent to deal with.

Where will you keep the motor yacht? After a 30-month build programme we plan to spend a few months in Europe on board and then we’ll likely bring the boat to our home in Sydney. We are keen to get back to the South Pacific.

You’ve just taken delivery of a new race boat, too. What can you tell us about that?   I decided that the logistics of keeping a large cruising yacht that I was keen to race in Europe should be replaced with a more serious dedicated racing yacht, hence us commissioning Botin Partners to design Hooligan , a new TP52. The boat was built in New Zealand by SP Technologies with a plan to build the lightest, fastest and strongest TP52 ever built.

So far so good – we won our first regatta at Festival of Sails in Geelong in Australia but the real test will come with the upcoming TP52 Gold Cup Series in New South Wales. I love racing – right now I’m competing in a regatta in Port Lincoln in South Australia and Caroline is cage diving with great white sharks! Just because we’re building an explorer yacht, life is definitely not slowing down.

Length: 30m Year: 2017 Location: the Maldives

Where’s the best fishing you’ve experienced on this latest adventure?  The best fishing was between Bali and Komodo. We fished a rock formation in a heavy current and caught several dogtooth tuna, the largest about 45 kilograms, and a large giant trevally. Since we’ve got to the Maldives, we’ve caught quite a few wahoo with an average size of 10 kilograms. Nothing for the trophy cabinet just yet.

Did you do the passage to the Maldives?  My crew did that one and I flew in to meet the boat. The islands are amazing and even better than I imagined. We have been doing a lot of diving and have made several dives with giant manta rays. It’s very easy to cruise inside the atolls with good weather protection. There are many beautiful remote beaches with lots of coconut palm trees and great snorkelling. There’s no shortage of beautiful resorts, either.

Before the Maldives you were in Thailand and the Andaman Sea. What were the highlights from there?  We spent most of our time in Thailand in the Similan Islands, which are all protected, and you’re forbidden to land and go ashore on most of the islands. There’s no fishing within three nautical miles of them so we went a little further out but had no luck.

Interestingly, there were lots of Taiwanese fishing boats outside the protected area and perhaps that’s why our luck was out. The diving was good – mostly around granite pinnacles that held lots of huge schools of fish. We also visited an elephant sanctuary in Phuket, which was great. It was very interesting to learn about the elephants and their mahouts (caretakers).

Where are you heading after the Maldives?   I will come back at the end of February and go to the most southern part of the Maldives where it is most remote. We will stay around the islands until early May when the crew will depart for the Red Sea. That will be an interesting journey – we will pick up four armed security guards in Oman and they will stay on board as far as Egypt.

I will meet VivieRae in late May in Egypt and do some diving and fishing in the northern part. After that we will go through the Suez Canal and on to Greece, then Italy and Turkey, before heading to Bermuda in late October.

Kevin Costner Hopes ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ Can Be Binged in Theaters Someday

Kevin Costner is hoping a few years from now, moviegoers will have the opportunity to binge four Horizon movies in theaters.

“Maybe a year and a half, two years from now, they will come (to theaters) for 12 hours,” he told the assembled crowd of theater owners Tuesday at CinemaCon, where he teased his two-part Horizon films.

Geena Davis Set to Receive Viola Davis Trailblazer Award at CinemaCon

Kevin Costner Western 'Horizon' Set for Cannes Debut

So far, only two of his planned four films have been made, he acknowledged, but he has two more scripts ready to go, should the risky film project he helped finance be successful.

“When I think about the promise of America, there was a promise out here, if you could go. If you were tough enough, if you were mean enough, if you were resourceful enough, if you were lucky enough, you could take what you wanted in America,” Costner said of the appeal of the American West. “That promise meant that we step on a whole group of people who had been here for thousands of years. But that’s what happened in America … I don’t pass judgment because I don’t want to look down on people’s resourcefulness.”

It was no surprise to see Costner turn up as this summer is go-time for the project. Warner Bros. has set a dual theatrical release for Horizon with part one rolling out on June 28, and the second chapter following less than two months later, on Aug. 16. When Warner Bros. announced its partnership on the film, domestic distribution president Jeff Goldstein said the studio intends to make Horizon the “theatrical event of the summer.” Key to that will be activating Costner’s muscle at the box office after a decades-long career, and luring in fans from that other Western of his on the small screen, Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone .

Horizon is described as a multi-faceted chronicle covering the Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. The story spans the four years of the Civil War, from 1861-1865, and is said to explore “the lure of the Old West and how it was won — and lost — through the blood, sweat and tears of many.”

Costner co-wrote the script with Jon Baird ( The Explorers Guild ) and produces through his Territory Pictures. Costner produced the New Line Cinema presentation alongside Howard Kaplan and Mark Gillard with Danny Peykoff, Robert Scannell, Armyan Bernstein, Charlie Lyons, Barry Berg and Rod Lake executive producing.

He also stars opposite a stacked ensemble that includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Owen Crow Shoe, Tatanka Means, Danny Huston, Scott Haze, Tom Payne, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Will Patton, Douglas Smith, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jamie Campbell Bower, Wasé Winyan Chief, Michael Anganaro, Angus Macfadyen, Kathleen Quinlan, James Russo, Jeff Fahey, David O’Hara, Tom Everett, Glynn Turman, Giovanni Ribisi and more.

The project marks Costner’s return to the director’s chair for the first time since his 2003 film Open Range , but of course, he’s best known as an auteur for his best picture winner Dances with Wolves. Costner’s CinemaCon appearance comes one day after the Cannes Film Festival confirmed that the film — full title Horizon: An American Saga — will have its world premiere there on May 19. Costner hasn’t been seen on the Cannes red carpet since he attended the festival more than 20 years ago, in 2003, for the world premiere of The Matrix Reloaded .

“I’ve been waiting for the right time to return and I’m proud to say that this time has come,” Costner said. “ Horizon: An American Saga  is a story that began 35 years ago, and I can’t think of a better place than Cannes to reveal to the world the result of such a wonderful adventure. The French have always supported films and believed deeply in filmmaking. Just as I believe deeply in my film.”
