For over 35 years Valentines Dive Center has been providing world-class scuba diving and snorkeling trips. The top-of-the-line dive boats (36’ Sea Hawk, 32’ Island Hopper and 25 ‘ AquaSport) can take you comfortably to where you want to go—whether privately chartered or as part of another group. Valentines Resort & Marina offers dives ranging from 15’ to 120’ in depth, as well as the exciting “Current Cut” drift dive. With over 35 dive and snorkel sites to choose from in a 15 mile radius we feel confident you will find an exciting adventure waiting for you. The PADI professionals (from Austria, Canada, The Bahamas, and Scotland) at Valentines Resort & Marina are in the water to guide you every step of the way on every dive. Celebrate Valentine's Day with someone you love at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club, where you'll find a special menu of salads, entrees and desserts crafted especially for the most romantic holiday of the year.

The menu, which will be offered Feb. 14 and Feb. 15 beginning at 4 p.m., will include the following items:

Berry Salad - Pistachio-crusted chevre over strawberries, blueberries and raspberries and tossed with mixed greens in a pomegranate vinaigrette. $8

Walnut & Gorgonzola Salad - Toasted walnuts, Gorgonzola, Granny Smith apple and dried cranberries with spring mix tossed in a honey cider vinaigrette. $8

Ribeye Braciole - Pounded ribeye stuffed with Gorgonzola, caramelized onions and cremini mushrooms topped with a sundried tomato bordelaise. Served with broccolini and fingerling potatoes. $28

Coq au Vin - 1/2 chicken with bacon, mushrooms, carrots, onions, celery and potatoes braised in red wine and brandy. Served with green beans. $24

Twin Lobster Tails - Two 6oz. tails brushed with herb-roasted butter. Served with broccolini and fingerling potatoes. $35

Chocolate Mousse. $6

Butterfinger Bread Pudding with Banana Creme Anglaise. $6

Please note that the regular dinner menu will be available and that the 1/2-price dinner entree special offered on Saturdays does not apply to the special Valentine's menu. Reservations will not be taken for dinner.

Tranzfusion, one of the region's most popular musical acts, will also be performing at the Yacht Club Ballroom on Friday, Feb. 14. Doors and the bar will open at 4:30 p.m.; the show will be held from 6- 10 p.m. There is a $5 cover charge per person, and food and drinks will be available for purchase. Admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Right around the Corner

Valentine Bowling Club was founded in 1963, beginning with a single green and clubhouse on the southern side of the current green. The club quickly became an established part of the community, and expanded to add a second green in 1965, bar facilities, and a commercial kitchen and restaurant. Over the years, this expansion has continued, providing access to entertainment activities like TAB, gaming machines and Keno, and a functions room for those special events.

Valentine Bowling Club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013, and remains an important part of the local community. The club sponsors several local groups and sporting teams, and still achieves impressive results on the bowling green.

The club has undergone extensive renovations in the last few years that included a major expansion and refit of the Jessie’s on the Water kitchen, as well as a brand new bar and alfresco dining area in 2016, a major refit of the gaming and sports area in 2019 and the construction of a new synthetic bowling green in 2022. Come down and take a look at our fresh new club today!

Offered by DMA Yachting, the astonishing charter yacht VALENTINE is a 60 ft sailing catamaran. VALENTINE spends the summer and winter season in the Bahamas. She was delivered by the renowned boatbuilder Sunreef Yachts in 2021. The expansive yacht layout features 4 cozy cabins and comfortably accommodates a maximum of 8 guests.

VALENTINE is presented primarily as a sailing catamaran. The central space of the yacht is the main saloon, which connects to the aft deck. The aft deck is generous, with a prominent dining and seating area and that's where most of the delicious meals are served. The immersive cabins are located in the 2 massive hulls. The cabins are located below the main saloon, connected by stairs (inquire about handicapped access). Multiple portholes offer desirable views, while providing privacy if needed.

The sailboat features 2 x 150 HP Volvo engines .

Captain: Stephen Powell

Capt. Stephen Powell Captain Stephen Powell grew up sailing in Newport Beach, California. "My brother and I would spend the summer sailing in Newport Harbor, like a modern version of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. My entire family were lifeguards, sailors, scuba divers, pilots, and general Bon Vivants", he said. After graduating from the University of Southern California, Stephen traveled down to South Africa, to race and deliver sailboats, where he earned his Yachtmaster Ocean certification. Captain Stephen has sailed in all of the great oceans of the world and has logged in excess of 50,000 miles offshore, including two trans-Atlantic crossings and two Indian Ocean passages. He holds a USCG 200 ton Master license and is also a PADI Divemaster and a private pilot. In 2017 he purchased his very own 41' sloop in Palma de Mallorca, which he sailed across the Atlantic, through the Caribbean, and up the east coast of the USA. As a result of his extensive travels, Captain Stephen speaks fluent Spanish and can generally get by in a couple other languages as well. He will keep you entertained with tales of the high seas and even teach you a few sailing knots if you so choose. Chef Celia “CC” Corbin Chef and First Mate Celia, who goes by the nickname “CC”, was born and raised most of her life near the ocean in Southern California. It wasn’t until 2015 that CC gave up her corporate career as a Meeting & Event Planner and started traveling the world spending three of those months sailing across the South Pacific on a Lagoon 450. Traveling brought CC to earning her PADI Dive Instructor certification which then led her into the superyacht and luxury liveaboard industry where she worked in a variety of roles - one of them more recently being a chef cooking for 25 guests and crew combined in the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos. After nearly 7 years working in the yachting industry, she’s now able to combine her passion for the ocean and focus on her creativity skills preparing modern fare cuisine. When CC is not on charter, you’ll likely find her traversing through mountains and enjoying the culinary delights of the country she’s in or continuing her education working toward her sommelier certification and yoga teacher training. We’re pleased to have Celia onboard with her shared passion for the ocean and enthusiasm for food. Stephen & Celia have crewed that same vessel, Esperanza II, together for two seasons and are very much looking forward to their third season in 2023-24 as professional crew on Valentine, delivering excellent service and guest experiences to discrete clientele. They both share their shared passion for the ocean with their guests, Celia with her Pan Pacific cuisine and Stephen by identifying sea life and their habitat on snorkeling excursions. Both are excellent divers, and have experienced some of the world’s best dive sites from Komodo, Indonesia, to the Seychelles, French Polynesia, and the Caribbean. Stephen and Celia tailor each charter to the unique desires of each family. Some may choose an active charter that includes hiking, diving, wake boarding, and snorkeling, while others may be happy with a cold Caribbean cocktail and a good book. During diving expeditions Stephen & Celia find wild life to enhance the guests experience, and snap picture with a Go Pro so the clients have photographs to go along with their memories. On many occasions, they have organized boat concerts with local three piece bands, or steel pan players, that play on the aft deck while the guests float in the warm sea enjoying the music and a cold beer. The concerts have been a huge hit with guests for birthday’s, and other special occasions. Stephen particularly enjoys after dinner games with families, especially teens and children that need a good alternative form of entertainment to distract them from their Iphones. While sailing from place to place Stephen will entertain guests with tales of ship wrecks, or the golden age of piracy, or history about the local islands. Celia loves to share her passion for food with clients, especially foodies and those who love the nuances in her amazing dishes. Previous guests frequently comment on how much value the crew adds to the charter experience, and their client reviews are universally outstanding. Stewardess Caitlin Mahoney Caitlin was born on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts and moved to Breckenridge, CO when she was 4 years old. Growing up in the mountains of Colorado was a wonderful upbringing that allowed her to explore skiing, snowboarding and a 15 year long figure skating career. Her parents are from Florida, so despite being raised in a landlocked state, every family vacation was spent in the sand, sun & salt water. Caitlin was raised with the values of hosting social gatherings and creating memorable events to last lifetime, many times shared over a great meal. Her family owned a small fine dining restaurant in a beautiful ski town which held the space for celebrations including proposals, anniversaries, birthdays, and special holidays. Caitlin’s earliest memories include setting the restaurant up for dinner service, taking reservations, decorating for the holidays and on the busiest nights of the year working as a hostess. She has always loved the art of entertainment shared over a delicious meal and fabulous cocktails. After 6 years of working as a concert marketer in the music industry, Caitlin made a career change and began working for a dive shop out of Boulder, CO. This new position opened her eyes to exploring the 72% of our planet which remains beneath the surface. Upon getting scuba certified she then went on to live in Cozumel, Mexico for a year followed by obtaining her divemaster and PADI Instructor certifications in Utila, Honduras. She met Stephen and CC last season in the Virgin Islands while she was working aboard another vessel as a chef. Caitlin looks forward to sharing her love for the ocean with you both above and beneath the surface and welcoming you aboard Valentine.

Stephen Powell<br /> Captain Stephen Powell grew up sailing in Newport Beach, California. "My brother and I would spend the summer sailing in Newport Harbor, like a modern version of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. My entire family were lifeguards, sailors, scuba divers, pilots, and general Bon Vivants", he said. <br /> <br /> After graduating from the University of Southern California, Stephen traveled down to South Africa, to race and deliver sailboats, where he earned his Yachtmaster Ocean certification. Captain Stephen has sailed in all of the great oceans of the world and has logged in excess of 50,000 miles offshore, including two trans-Atlantic crossings and two Indian Ocean passages. <br /> <br /> He holds a USCG 200 ton Master license and is also a PADI Divemaster and a private pilot. In 2017 he purchased his very own 41' sloop in Palma de Mallorca, which he sailed across the Atlantic, through the Caribbean, and up the east coast of the USA. As a result of his extensive travels, Captain Stephen speaks fluent Spanish and can generally get by in a couple other languages as well. He will keep you entertained with tales of the high seas and even teach you a few sailing knots if you so choose. <br /> <br /> Chef Celia “CC” Corbin<br /> <br /> Chef and First Mate Celia, who goes by the nickname “CC”, was born and raised most of her life near the ocean in Southern California. It wasn’t until 2015 that CC gave up her corporate career as a Meeting & Event Planner and started traveling the world spending three of those months sailing across the South Pacific on a Lagoon 450. Traveling brought CC to earning her PADI Dive Instructor certification which then led her into the superyacht and luxury liveaboard industry where she worked in a variety of roles - one of them more recently being a chef cooking for 25 guests and crew combined in the Bahamas and Turks & Caicos. <br /> <br /> After nearly 7 years working in the yachting industry, she’s now able to combine her passion for the ocean and focus on her creativity skills preparing modern fare cuisine. When CC is not on charter, you’ll likely find her traversing through mountains and enjoying the culinary delights of the country she’s in or continuing her education working toward her sommelier certification and yoga teacher training. <br /> <br /> We’re pleased to have Celia onboard with her shared passion for the ocean and enthusiasm for food. <br /> <br /> Stephen & Celia have crewed that same vessel, Esperanza II, together for two seasons and are very much looking forward to their third season in 2023-24 as professional crew on Valentine, delivering excellent service and guest experiences to discrete clientele. They both share their shared passion for the ocean with their guests, Celia with her Pan Pacific cuisine and Stephen by identifying sea life and their habitat on snorkeling excursions. Both are excellent divers, and have experienced some of the world’s best dive sites from Komodo, Indonesia, to the Seychelles, French Polynesia, and the Caribbean. <br /> <br /> Stephen and Celia tailor each charter to the unique desires of each family. Some may choose an active charter that includes hiking, diving, wake boarding, and snorkeling, while others may be happy with a cold Caribbean cocktail and a good book. During diving expeditions Stephen & Celia find wild life to enhance the guests experience, and snap picture with a Go Pro so the clients have photographs to go along with their memories. On many occasions, they have organized boat concerts with local three piece bands, or steel pan players, that play on the aft deck while the guests float in the warm sea enjoying the music and a cold beer. The concerts have been a huge hit with guests for birthday’s, and other special occasions. Stephen particularly enjoys after dinner games with families, especially teens and children that need a good alternative form of entertainment to distract them from their Iphones. <br /> <br /> While sailing from place to place Stephen will entertain guests with tales of ship wrecks, or the golden age of piracy, or history about the local islands. Celia loves to share her passion for food with clients, especially foodies and those who love the nuances in her amazing dishes. Previous guests frequently comment on how much value the crew adds to the charter experience, and their client reviews are universally outstanding. <br /> <br /> Stewardess Caitlin Mahoney<br /> <br /> Caitlin was born on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts and moved to Breckenridge, CO when she was 4 years old. Growing up in the mountains of Colorado was a wonderful upbringing that allowed her to explore skiing, snowboarding and a 15 year long figure skating career. Her parents are from Florida, so despite being raised in a landlocked state, every family vacation was spent in the sand, sun & salt water. <br /> <br /> Caitlin was raised with the values of hosting social gatherings and creating memorable events to last lifetime, many times shared over a great meal. Her family owned a small fine dining restaurant in a beautiful ski town which held the space for celebrations including proposals, anniversaries, birthdays, and special holidays. Caitlin’s earliest memories include setting the restaurant up for dinner service, taking reservations, decorating for the holidays and on the busiest nights of the year working as a hostess. Upon getting scuba certified she then went on to live in Cozumel, Mexico for a year followed by obtaining her divemaster and PADI Instructor certifications in Utila, Honduras. She met Stephen and CC last season in the Virgin Islands while she was working aboard another vessel as a chef. Seventeen Boats – Spirited Sailing

An action packed Regatta with a variety of party nights brought together sailors, visitors and residents of Jolly Harbour for an unparalleled weekend. Entries came from seventeen mixed class boats. The Olympic designed courses had been fine-tuned for more challenging racing, starting outside Five Islands Bay.

The events commenced Friday late afternoon with Registration and delicious canapés provided by the Yacht Club to keep the hungry crews replete during the skippers briefing. Drinks were available from 3.00pm at Happy Hour prices from a well-stocked, pop up bar, outside Al Porto Restaurant set up on the green.

Saturday racing started early with most boats testing the waters by 9.00am, all ready for a 10.00am gun. Over 110 sailors took part in the perfect weather conditions with 18 knot wind gusts. Boats were competing in three classes. Class 1: Liquid, Phoenix, Regardless, Sleeper, Spirit and Valiant; Class 2: Blue Peter, Cricket, Full Monty and Spirit of Athena, Class 3: Elethea, Imagine of Falmouth, LJ Windward, Miss Bliss, PIMS, Seal and Volaré. Day one consisted of four races around a course of three pillar marks, run from the Committee Boat and either Windward/Leeward or Triangle courses set.

At close of racing on Saturday the leaders were Class 1: Sleeper and Spirit (joint), Class 2: Blue Peter and Class 3: Elethea.

Saturday post-racing everyone gathered at Al Porto Restaurant where Happy Hour drinks were served once again from 3.00pm, a fabulous pizza or pasta for EC50 per person including a glass of wine was served and dancing until late to the island party band “1761 Degrees”.

Sunday morning bought 21 knots and more perfect sailing conditions with east, north-east winds. Three exhilarating races ensued around the Olympic style courses with the finishing flag drawn down at 3.00pm.

His Excellency, Governor General Sir Rodney Williams KGN, GCMG, was introduced by JHYC Commodore Grahame Williams. He presented the prizes and in his speech he praised the organisers, sponsors and the participants for entering the challenging regatta, sailing being a key part of Antigua’s tourist industry.

Results were Class 1: 1st - Sleeper, 2nd - Spirit, 3rd - Valiant; Class 2: 1st - Blue Peter, 2nd - Cricket, 3rd - Full Monty and Class 3: 1st - Elethea, 2nd - Seal, 3rd - LJ Windward. The winner of the Sun General Insurance Trophy for the most 1st places was presented to Blue Peter and the Absolute Properties Trophy for the best overall boat was presented to Sleeper.

The major sponsors of the event were Absolute Properties Antigua, Sun General Insurance, Budget Marine, Sea Hawk Premium Yacht Finishes and North Sails. Local shops around the Jolly Harbour Marina, restaurants and businesses from Jolly Harbour and the wider Antigua community donated prizes.

The Jolly Harbour Yacht Club (JHYC) will be hosting the 25th edition of  its Valentine’s Regatta.

Route : Jolly Harbour to Five Islands, and back.

Registration for participation in the regatta is  5-6 p.m on Friday 10th February.

The JHYC is also inviting the public to come along and watch the races and participate in the postrace festivities at Jolly Harbo ur.

Saturday — Four races; starting time at 10 a.m.

Sunday — Three races; starting time at 10 a.m. 

All races will end at around 4 p.m. daily with festivities continuing until 9 p.m. each evening. Prize-giving on Sunday 12th February.
