The Ocean Pines Yacht Club marina now has five new gas pumps and is open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

(June 22,2023) Ocean Pine’s new marina gas dock is now open and is fueling vessels with its five gas pump from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily at the Yacht Club marina.

All gas docks are in compliance with the state’s fuel-delivery and electric codes, General Manager John Viola said Saturday.

During the board of directors meeting on Saturday, Viola said some users had raised concerns about the safety of an aluminum dock. He assured the board and users that the aluminum docks are grounded. If lightning strikes, the charge will go to a grounding rod rather than any person or equipment, including the gas lines.

Other safety measures include new piping that meets new federal safety standards. The wiring is also explosion proof, so if there were leaks or fumes from the gas pumps, they would not ignite.

Viola said inspections were done by the contractor and state officials were on site since the beginning of the project, working with installers and guiding OPA through the process. The state has certified the entire gas system, including plumbing and electrical.

“You have a product that will last way longer and is more efficient and effective than the wooden docks and probably more effective, the way it is designed and built for safety,” Viola said.

Now that the dock is certified as safe, boaters can gas up and get fishing gear, bait, snacks, shirts, and hats at the shop, all in time for the summer boating and fishing season.

New Marina fuel dock set to open Friday The new fuel dock at the Ocean Pines Marina is set to reopen on Friday, May 26 after a complete replacement.  

Dockmaster Ron Fisher said the entire C-dock was replaced with an aluminum structure that includes a new gas dock building and new gas pumps.  

The replacement was mandated by new state environmental regulations.

“It’s been a process, because we wanted to be certain that we complied with all the new regulations as they pertain to the gas lines, electrical, everything,” Fisher said. “The piping that's going out there right now meets the new standards, so it’s pretty much leak proof. The wiring is explosive-proof wiring when you get up close to the gas dock. So, if there's any fumes from gas pumps, it won’t ignite.”

Fisher said the new pedestals at each boat slip are also meet state regulations.  

“The other nice thing is they have hose hangers for the boaters as well,” he said.  

Fisher said he expects to have a strong season at the marina.

“I think we’ll be good,” he said. “We finished staff training today (Thursday) on the new fuel management system, which is very accurate, and it eliminates a lot of manual work.” 

He said they also added new fishing tackle at the marina shop, which is adjacent to the Yacht Club.   

Ocean Pines General Manager John Viola said improving overall safety near the fuel lines was always his main concern.  

“What they’ve done in terms of safety has been incredible, and we believe the new C-dock will also require less maintenance and have a longer useful life,” Viola said. “I’m also very happy that the contractors and the team were able to get this done in time for Memorial Day weekend. We’re excited for a big season at the marina!”  

The Ocean Pines Marina is open daily, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Yacht Club​ and Marina

Just one of the many great reasons to live here, the Yacht Club is right in the heart of Ocean Pines, a great place to meet old friends and new.  This brand new facility features an adults only pool, a kiddie pool, outdoor dining, and is a perfect venue for a wedding or any other special events.

The Yacht Club Marina, open April through October each year, provides docking facilities for boats up to 44 ft. in length and sells non-ethanol gas, ice, bait, coffee, snacks, boating supplies, beer and wine, and offers equipped bathhouse facilities and a pump-out station. Tie ups available for dining and live entertainment every weekend Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The Swim and Racquet Marina is open to the public and located on the Saint Martin River with 16 boat docking slips and 4 beach storage spaces for rent.  This marina accommodates boats 22’ and less.  This marina is not staffed but is patrolled daily May 1 – Oct 31.  This campus has a large family-style swimming pool, walking trails, tennis courts, and gazebo.  Small watercraft can be launched from the beach and kayaks, canoes and Paddleboards can be rented from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day.

Ocean Pines Golf and Country Club​

Ocean Pines Golf and Country Club is home to the Delmarva Peninsula’s only championship golf course designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Enjoy a round of golf on this challenging 18-hole championship course nestled amid natural wetlands and scenic woodlands. This course dares players of all levels, ages and abilities to test their skills on this course which cuts through the native pines leaving a fair but demanding course for all golfers!

The Ocean Pines Golf and Country Club is a membership course open to the public and available for group outings and tournaments. Our professionally staffed facility features a clubhouse, full service pro shop, locker room facilities, double ended driving range, sheltered driving area, practice chipping and pitching green, two practice putting greens, and two practice sand bunkers. Services available include clinics, private lessons, club cleaning & repair, and bag storage.

Ocean City Gas Fuel Prices

Did some investigative work yesterday and check out the differences in fuel prices at some of the marinas. All are nonethanol. Ocean Pines Yacht Club - $3.50 / gal Bahia - $3.80 / gal Sunset - $4.00 / gal White Marlin Marina 3.89.9 / gal At 150 gallons for an offshore trip, that could amount to a considerable amount of money.  

Yikes. Filled my boat up on the trailer for $2.30/gal (admittedly ethanol) last weekend. Those prices ought to fall as they work through more expensive inventory?  

The same is true of diesel. Diesel around the corner at the BP station is $2.02 (and this includes the road tax) and at the local marina it is $2.58 (dyed red tax free). That would be a $78 saving for our canyon trips.

Hey those prices are pretty good Snug Harbor marina on Chinoteague is 4.99 a gallon trailer mine to the gas station  

White Marlin Marina $2.49 for diesel.  

I don't buy gas but I think they have non ethanol for $3.89. And no trailer required.....  

These are the reasons I will likely never own a slipped boat. If I ever do, it will be a diesel. Gas on the water is outrageous.

3.04 or 4.04/gal? 89 is all I need and 3.04 would be a great price!  

Thanks for checking around. 3.04 sounds about right for 89 at sunset. 4/gal is for ethanol-free 91 I believe. I'm pretty sure Sunset is a bit over .50 less than OP yacht club (which sucks because I'm only about 250' from the gas dock at the yacht club, lol, but it's usually worth the run to Sunset when I'm putting in 100+ gallons). I usually tend to fill up with ethanol free every other tank or depending on what the bank account dictates, lmao. I'm actually planning to top off my tanks tmrw for a trip on Friday so I'll post what the prices are tmrw.  

Wait, SharkJP, the 89 is E, & 91 is non-E, & you're mixing them every other fill-up?? That is not a good idea. Please tell me you're joking...  

just in case yall didnt know, that red diesel has more than red dye in it!!!!! on-road diesel has 15ppm sulfer (lubricant) in it for emissions by the epa, the off-road (red fuel) has 500ppm sulfur. if you put green diesel in your boat it has basically no lubricant in it and if it has older engines equipped with injection pumps then you are asking for expensive problems!!!!!!!!  

Just filled up at Sunset tonight and it was 2.99 for 89 and 3.89 for 93  

I didn't know you couldn't mix ethanol and non-ethanol fuel. What's the reason?  

Never heard of any issues with mixing the two. If an engine can run on either, then what’s the issue? If you run e15 in an e10 engine then yes a problem. Running ethanol in fuel lines not rated for it, yes an issue, but that’s been an issue forever now it seems. If there’s a legitimate problem with mixing ethanol and non-ethanol please post a reliable source that says so. I’m curious as to the reason. Chris

Manila Yacht Club and Marina, Manila, Metro Manila

Established in 1927, the Manila Yacht Club and Marina is one of the oldest yacht clubs in all of Asia, and is nestled in the scenic Manila Bay. It is also near other well-known landmarks in the city, such as the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the headquarters of the Philippine Navy, and the US Embassy. Facilities in the marina include a launching ramp and a fueling center, and the club itself is host to a restaurant and gorgeous function rooms. The Manila Yacht Club only welcomes visitors who arrive by boat, and it charges an initial security deposit of USD 750 upon arrival. Club membership is mandatory for medium and long-term mooring of boats.

Subic Bay Yacht Club, Zambales

The Subic Bay Yacht Club, which was founded in 1998, upholds itself as the country’s premier yacht club. It operates in the deepest bay in the country, and can host vessels well beyond 50 meters in length. Already benefitting from the innate beauty of the Zambales mountains surrounding it, the club hosts a number of other attractions, including its luxury accommodations, swimming pools, and its own movie theater, bowling alley, and nightclub. Those who venture outside of the club’s premises can also shop for well-priced imported goods at the Subic Freeport Zone, engage in water sports , or sign up for diving excursions.

Punta Fuego Yacht Club, Batangas

Peaceful Punta Fuego is a mecca for those who love the sport of sailing. As per its official website, the Punta Fuego Yacht Club aims to serve “a dynamic and vibrant community of boat enthusiasts and yacht owners.” This it does by playing host to a diverse population of watercrafts, from large catamarans and mono-hull yachts to small boats. Non-members of the club may use the berths for up to 3 weeks, and can refuel at the marina’s fueling station. The yacht club offers other amenities such as locker rooms, shower rooms, Internet facilities, a chart room, and a restaurant called Barracuda Bar, which serves delicious fares. Outside of the yachting crowd, Punta Fuego Yacht Club also caters to those wishing to celebrate weddings, conferences, and corporate events in their opulent quarters.

Puerto Galera Yacht Club, Oriental Mindoro

Further south, yachtsmen may moor at the Puerto Galera Yacht Club in Oriental Mindoro, an island location that’s home to tourist attractions like the Sabang Wreck dive site, lively beachfront resorts, and the Malasimbo Music Festival. Puerto Galera Yacht Club has been in operation for almost thirty years and lends services such as refueling provisions and yacht repairs from its marina. Boat owners also enjoy optimal convenience if mooring here, as they can also shop for spare parts in the nearby Batangas port.

Busuanga Yacht Club, Puerta del Sol Bay Marina, Palawan

Beautiful Palawan is a bucket-list destination for many, especially those who dream of cruising its crystalline waters. Accommodating the yachting community in this island province is the Busuanga Yacht Club, which promises secure mooring amidst breathtaking white-sand beaches. Here, each vessel will benefit from a typhoon-safe harbor, easy refueling, and direct access to transportation hubs like the New Busuanga Airport. Adjoining this marina is the Puerta del Sol Bay Resort, which offers luxurious accommodations to visitors. Iloilo Sailing Club, Arevelo, Iloilo City, Iloilo

What will round off an unforgettable visit to Iloilo, however, is an excursion to the Iloilo Sailing Club on a leisure watercraft. It also hosts a number of amenities and activities, including a dinghy storage, a beach bar and restaurant, and classes for those who want to learn about sailing. In recent months, the Iloilo Sailing Club has also been a convenient meet-up point for big maritime events, such as the Iloilo-Guimaras Paraw Regatta and the Seafarers’ Job Fair.

Cebu Yacht Club, Mactan Island, Cebu

The historic Mactan Island in Cebu was the site of Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan’s arrival in the Philippines. Now known as a commercial hub that hosts a prolific furniture and musical instruments industries, Mactan is also the location of the Cebu Yacht Club, an institution that is beloved by the locals. Aside from being an ideal spot to restock on much-needed fuel and supplies, the Cebu Yacht Club is also a trusted club to commission for boat repairs. There’s a good vibe in this club for everybody, as it sports both luxury accommodations and a waterfront strip of restaurants that laid-back diners can frequent. MINDANAO

Holiday Oceanview Marina, Samal Island, Davao del Norte

The Holiday Oceanview Marina is a major attraction of Samal Island in Davao del Norte Province, one that welcomes Filipino and foreign yachtsmen alike to moor within its premises. The space is quite roomy, in fact, with 56 berths that can fit vessels up to 15 meters in length. The club also has a boat ramp that can accommodate boats up to 18 meters in length. The well-guarded and weather-safe marina is a gateway to some of Mindanao’s finest attractions, such as the Pearl Farm, Hagimit Falls, and Giant Clam Sanctuary.  

There’s no better way to discover the Philippines from end to end than getting onboard a seaworthy vessel and going on a long cruise, with stops in some of the most beautiful places in the country. Find a safe harbor in any of these major clubs and marinas, and participate in the renaissance of sailing in the Philippines.
