Measuring somewhat close to 58 meters long and about 38 meters wide, its pictures reveal that it is nothing short of a floating mansion on the high sea, spread over three sprawling decks.

There are many cool features that promise absolute entertainment and relaxation onboard. It comes with a retractable solar glass roof and further fitted out with a vast spectrum of comforts and facilities. Besides exclusive space for a helipad, the high-tech yacht also includes personal guest suites, sauna, massage room, spa, piano lounge bar, outdoor sunbath area, and a pool that spans over 25 meters.

Vijay Mallya yacht

Vijay Mallya, the former owner of Kingfisher Airlines, has always been a pacesetter and his love for the prized materialistic luxury is evident from his high-end purchases including Kalizma (a 50-meter yacht) and the mega yacht, Indian Empress. Not to mention, he is one of the firsts in the country to kick off this trend of owning luxury yachts. Al though Indian Empress was confiscated in 2018 due to Mallya’s legal battles, this breathtaking 95-metre yacht deserves to be on this list due to its plush features and high-end amenities.

This yacht was originally made for the member of a royal Qatari family, before Mallya owned it by paying a jaw-dropping amount of over $112 million in 2006. It is so expansive and massive that it boasts of a lavish master suite and some 15 plus guest staterooms. Add to this stunning interiors enhanced by an array of glam features like helipad, gym, Jacuzzi, beauty salon, massage room, and spacious deck spaces. Given an ardent party lover, he made this yacht a venue for several prestigious celebrations including the parties during Monaco Grand Prix which was mainly graced by A-list guests.

3. Lakshmi Mittal

A Netherland-based company, Oceanco, built this superyacht, which is one of the largest in the world. Featuring twin engines (MTU 16V 595 TE70) with the combined power of more than 9,000 horsepower, this top class luxe vessel can cruise up to a speed of 34 kilometers per hour (18.5 knots).

The majestic vessel is catered by 20 plus crew members and can accommodate up to 16 guests in its eight VIP staterooms. While the main cabin is double and adorned with luxe fittings (including cherry furniture and Italian marble), each of the guest’s cabins is twin and has all facilities such as huge television, en-suite bathrooms etc. The vessel is also replete with a pool, gym and public areas.

Contrary to other yacht owners who rent or charter out their yachts, Amevi is solely for Mittal’s personal use. It is mostly spotted cruising at Barbados area.

With its high performance Volvo engines, it can attain a maximum speed of up to 20 kilometers per hour (equivalent to 11 knots). Billionaires: Jeff Bezos takes his $500 million superyacht for a test run

In our fortnightly round-up of the world’s super wealthy, mukesh ambani builds on record cricket views with new offerings and winklevoss twins lend $100 million to their gemini crypto platform.

Billionaire Jeff Bezos should have his new superyacht in time for the summer.

On Wednesday, the 417-foot (127-metre) Koru left a shipyard in the Netherlands and anchored off the coast of Spain near Mallorca, where it’s undergoing tests.

The Koru’s excursion is part of the sea trials where an owner puts the boat through its paces to make sure everything is working properly, according to a person familiar with its travels, who requested anonymity discussing private matters. It could return to the shipyard for final tweaks before being delivered.

The three-mast superyacht is estimated to have cost the Amazon founder more than $500 million.

Mr Bezos, 59, is the world’s third-richest person with a fortune of $126.2 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Previously known as Y721, the ship is now registered as Koru and is flying under a Cayman Islands flag. It’s the largest sailing yacht afloat, according to Boat International , and one of the biggest to be built by Netherlands-based Oceanco.

An Amazon representative did not respond to a request for comment.

The superyacht’s size has caused a number of headaches for Mr Bezos and its builders. The height of its masts was originally going to force the city of Rotterdam to dismantle historic steel bridge De Hef for the boat to be able to make it to the ocean.

City officials initially agreed to temporarily take apart the bridge’s central section, but Oceanco ended up retracting the request amid public outcry. The shipbuilder eventually towed the vessel out to sea without its masts.

The size of the sails also meant that the yacht couldn’t have a helipad on board. Instead, Mr Bezos and his helicopter pilot partner Lauren Sanchez will rely on a support boat, which is currently crossing the Atlantic with a destination of Gibraltar, according to vessel-tracking data.

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani plans to add more than 100 films and TV series to his streaming platform. EPA

Mukesh Ambani

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani ’s streaming service will add more than 100 films and TV series to its platform, building on the popularity of its cricket broadcasts in its push to take on global giants such as Walt Disney and Netflix in the fast-growing Indian market.

The expansion will coincide with JioCinema starting to charge for content, though the exact pricing strategy is still being finalised, media and content business president Jyoti Deshpande said in an interview.

New titles will be introduced before the end of the Indian Premier League cricket next month, and viewers will still be able to watch matches for free until then, she said.

Mr Ambani’s sprawling conglomerate has aspirations to become a global media and online streaming behemoth.

Last year, Viacom18 Media, a joint venture between Paramount Global and the billionaire’s Reliance Industries, outbid Disney and Sony Group to clinch the digital rights to IPL — one of the world’s fastest-growing sports events that’s seen as a critical way for any media company to lure eyeballs in India.

The potential viewership in India, home to 1.4 billion people and with a growing middle class and expanding internet access, is immense.

JioCinema drew more than 1.47 billion video views during the opening weekend of the IPL in April, and had 22 million viewers for a match on Wednesday.

It remains a market that’s been hard to crack for global streaming platform giants: Netflix has cut its fees to lure price-conscious users, while a robust local cinema-going culture means Indian viewers can be picky in what they’ll watch online.

Both price and content are at the front of mind in JioCinema’s expansion, said Ms Deshpande.

The plan is to “keep tariffs simple for viewers”, she said.

Currently, the streaming space “is dominated by westernised content. Jio Studios wants to become a catalyst for cross pollination of talent. We want to get as Indian as it can,” she added.

That includes rolling out films and series from thrillers and romance to biopics in languages including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali and Gujarati.

Tyler, left, and Cameron Winklevoss have loaned $100 million to their crypto exchange Gemini. Bloomberg

Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss

Billionaires Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss have dipped into their own pockets to support their crypto exchange Gemini Trust , which has faced numerous setbacks during the year-long market downturn for digital assets.

The twins made a $100 million loan to Gemini recently, according to two people familiar with the matter, who did not wish to be identified discussing private information.

The move came after Gemini had informally sought funding from outside investors in recent months without coming to any agreements, according to three people.

Gemini and the Winklevoss twins didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Venture funding for crypto start-ups has cratered following the collapse of crypto exchange FTX and slowdowns in the tech and crypto industries, plummeting 80 per cent to $2.4 billion in the first quarter compared with the same period last year, according to data from research firm PitchBook.

Gemini has experienced its own troubles during the crypto bear market, a sharp contrast to when it raised $400 million at a valuation of $7.1 billion in November 2021.

Fallout from the implosion of FTX led to the bankruptcy of crypto lender Genesis Global Holdco, severely bruising Gemini in the process.

Genesis Global had been Gemini’s sole partner on its Gemini Earn lending product and when Genesis froze withdrawals in November, that forced Gemini to pause redemptions on Earn accounts.

The move left $900 million of customer money in limbo and sparked a heated spat between the Winklevoss twins and Barry Silbert, chief executive of Digital Currency Group, the parent company of Genesis.

In February, the two parties reached an agreement in principle to resolve the dispute, under which Gemini would kick in as much as $100 million.

The Winklevoss loan won’t go towards that, but rather to fund operations, one person familiar with the matter said.

David and Simon Reuben

David and Simon Reuben are exploring ways to finalise one of Los Angeles’s biggest real estate projects after taking control over major parts of the $2.5 billion plan through debt financing deals.

The British billionaire brothers are in talks over a revised repayment plan with the US property developer behind the Century Plaza site after it defaulted on loans during the pandemic, according to a statement from the Reubens’ namesake company.

The project, which includes a five-star hotel as well as retail stores and residential units, is almost complete.

Reuben Brothers is now “engaged in discussions on a forbearance agreement with the borrower, Next Century Partners, controlled by Michael Rosenfeld, to ensure the project will move forward”, their company said, without disclosing financial terms.

“With the funding and development secured, Century Plaza can cement itself as a premier luxury residential complex in the centre of Los Angeles.”

Representatives for Next Century Partners didn’t respond to requests for comment.

The situation underscores the risks many real estate companies worldwide face as higher interest rates to curb surging inflation lead to more defaults.

Money managers have recently stepped up their bearish bets against office landlords: Warren Buffett has warned there will be problems for banks in the commercial property sector, while investor Kyle Bass went as far as saying skyscrapers will need to be demolished.

The Reubens control one of the world’s biggest portfolios of retail, office and residential properties. Sons of Iraqi Jews, they were born in India and moved to London as teenagers.

They built a fortune trading metals and later invested in real estate, leisure and technology companies. David, 84, and Simon, 81, have a combined net worth of $13.6 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Anant Ambani's 'pre-wedding' is a symbol of India's new plutocracy

Billionaire Mukesh Ambani presided over the festivities planned for the union of his son Anant, 28, and the daughter of a pharmaceutical industrialist in early March. It was an opportunity for the businessman to show off his influence and his adherence to the Hindu nationalist line.

LETTER FROM NEW DELHI

A modest domestic airfield usually run by the armed forces, Jamnagar Airport in Gujarat acquired international status for a few days in early March. This made it easier to handle the ballet of private jets. Many of them landed on the tarmac of this not-too-touristy corner of India, located in a semi-arid region south of the Gulf of Kutch, along the Arabian Sea, known for housing the world's largest oil and petrochemical complex. The city is home to the world's largest petroleum and petrochemical complex, as well as beautiful British remains, Jain and Hindu temples and Rajput palaces.

It was not for its heritage that Indian and international celebrities flocked to Jamnagar under the television cameras, but rather, it was to attend from March 1 to 3 the "pre-wedding" of one of the sons of Mukesh Ambani, 66, Asia's richest man. Anant Ambani, 28, who suffers from obesity, will marry Radhika Merchant in July, the daughter of Viren Merchant, the director general of Encore Healthcare, a pharmaceutical company.

Arriving on the airport's red carpet were Bollywood's biggest stars – Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in particular – and Hollywood stars, sports champions, Americans Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, as well as Ivanka Trump, daughter of the former US president, accompanied by her husband and daughter, industrialists, Disney's director general, Bob Iger, billionaires, the prime minister of Qatar, Mohammed Ben Abderrahmane Al Thani, and even the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, and the Queen, Jetsun Pema, renowned for their sobriety.

American singer Rihanna was also present but on stage. The Ambani family secured the American singer's first performance in India. According to Indian media reports, they paid nearly $7 million (€6.4 million).

The Indian billionaire invited around 1,200 guests to Jamnagar, the town of his ancestors, for three days of festivities, shows and sumptuous meals featuring hundreds of different dishes prepared by 21 chefs. The happy few stayed in luxury tents complete with hairdressers, make-up artists, laundry and stylists, with each day set to begin with a new dress code. There were flowers galore, horses, elephants, gold and rubies.

Anant Ambani's "pre-wedding," again according to the country's press, cost around $150 million (around €138 million), which is a trifle for his father. His group, Reliance, is valued at $115 billion according to the magazine Forbes. He owns the Jamnagar refinery. Anant's mother, Nita Ambani, wore an emerald necklace worth over $60 million.

Ambani's Jets, Mittal's Yachts: Luxurious Rides Of The Ultra-Rich

Who Owns What

Who Owns What

Private yachts and customised planes. Check out the travel modes of the jet set that double up as meeting venues, party hangouts and spots to host special occasions. For those Indians — and those with desi roots — who are counted among the world’s wealthy, island hopping in Europe aboard their customised 200-feet yacht or taking off in their bespoke jet across the continent are but a way of putting a monogram on their commute. Take a look at the rides of the jet set:

Lakshmi Mittal’s Amevi

Lakshmi Mittal’s Amevi

In 2014, this London-based billionaire was spotted relaxing on the Greek island of Mykonos, dressed casually in a white T-shirt and baggy shorts. A newspaper report speculated that while Mittal lounged on the beach alongside other tourists, his 262-feet-long yacht Amevi was parked in the waters nearby. Some amenities on board: Sun decks, a heated swimming pool, a cinema, a gym, a massage room, a hairdressing salon as well as a unique, stabilised pool table to name a few.

Mukesh Ambani’s Boeing Business Jet

Mukesh Ambani’s Boeing Business Jet

More than a decade ago, it was reported that Ambani gifted his wife, Nita, a private jet on her 44th birthday. It was said at the time that this jet was “custom-fitted with an office and a cabin with game consoles, music systems, satellite television and wireless communication. It also has a master bedroom, a bathroom with a range of showers and a bar with mood lighting”. As his personal ride, Ambani reportedly favours a Boeing Business Jet. “Most often, they want access to the same amenities in the air.” That’s how the airplane maker describes their customer’s requirement, a.k.a, a flying home, as that’s what’s wanted.

Ravi Ruia’s Sunrays

Ravi Ruia’s Sunrays

“The ultimate guest and owner’s yacht.” That’s how the captain of Sunrays, delivered in March 2010 describes it. According to a description of the yacht available on the Oceanco’s website, “The upper deck is given over to the owner’s suite and an adjacent VIP suite that can be combined to create one expansive living area. Both suites have fold-down sea balconies. The owner’s exterior foredeck hosts a whirlpool and sunbathing area. The remainder of the yacht’s accommodations for up to 16 guests is on the main deck with one VIP stateroom and four guest cabins.” The large dining room can be converted into a video conference room with the optional use of the adjacent library. Foldable sea balconies provide guests unimpeded views while dining.

Kumar Mangalam Birla’s Cessna Citation

Kumar Mangalam Birla’s Cessna Citation

A blog published by an apparel brand, owned by the Aditya Birla Group, documented the private jets of India’s rich and famous. The listicle included the jets owned by Birla, the Group’s chairman. It said, “Few people know that this sharp, business-minded entrepreneur also has a sweet tooth, when it comes to sweet flying machines, with his Gulf Stream (G100) and Cessna Citation...It’s believed that Citations are the world’s most established, well-liked and most trusted fleet of business jets. The jet has high-tech design of pilot-friendly flight decks and luxury cabin interiors. Birla is often spotted taking a ride in his luxurious aircrafts.”

Sunil Vaswani’s Platinum

Sunil Vaswani’s Platinum

This Dubai-based billionaire’s yacht is apparently a fixture in the Mediterranean and was even spotted at the French Riviera around the time that the Cannes Film Festival was held this year, with others in the list for company. Vaswani, who is considered to be one of the richest Indians in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, was once described as he “who lives on multiple continents and sails the Mediterranean each summer in an all-purpose luxury yacht”. The logo of the Stallion Group, which he heads, adorns the yacht.

Ratan Tata’s Dassault Falcon 2000

Ratan Tata’s Dassault Falcon 2000

Tata’s love for aviation is an open secret. But he is perhaps one of the handful of billionaires in the world who not only owns a private jet, but even flies one. “A lot of people know that Ratan Tata owns a Dassault Falcon 2000 private jet but, what they do not know is that since Tata is a trained pilot, he even flies his own private jet and other jets owned by the Tata group,” said an earlier report.

Reuben Brothers’ Siren

Reuben Brothers’ Siren

“While watching the boat slowly taking shape in Rendsburg, we suddenly became aware of how seductive and mysterious she seemed. We just knew then that we had to call her SIREN and we are absolutely delighted with the result.” That’s the quote attributed to the owner of the 241 feet-long Siren, on the website of Nobiskrug, the German company that built the yacht. Presumably the owner quoted in question is either David Reuben or his brother Simon. Commonly referred to as the Reuben Brothers, they trace their roots back to Mumbai, and are counted among the UK’s richest individuals. Theirs is an award-winning superyacht with a foldable helicopter platform, that can double up as “a sundeck, a dance floor or a stage”.

Adar Poonawalla’s Gulfstream G550

Adar Poonawalla’s Gulfstream G550

Earlier this year, this scion became the first Indian to take delivery of a fully customised, ACH145 helicopter by Airbus. While his new ride, with a seating capacity of eight is great for covering relatively shorter distances, his Gulfstream G550 aircraft is reportedly his transportation of choice for long-haul journeys. In an earlier interview, Poonawalla had said, “With a 13-hour range, it (his jet) can take me to anywhere in the world with a single halt.” The report further added, “The plane can also come in handy when he (Poonawalla) craves continental food and in case he wants to fly in Michelin star chefs to cook for his friends and him.”

A look inside Mukesh Ambani’s $4.6 billion 27-storey skyscraper Antilia

Mar 29, 2024

Anita Santosh

Antilia, the residence of Mukesh Ambani, a renowned billionaire in Asia, transcends the definition of a mere dwelling – it stands as an architectural marvel.

Antilia is adorned with lotus and sun motifs, intricately incorporated throughout its design..

Noteworthy is the incorporation of a garden on one floor, seamlessly dividing the corporate meeting facilities and parking levels from the residential quarters above.

What sets Antilia apart is its commitment to diversity – no two floors share the same material, adding a unique touch to each level.

Mukesh Ambani’s staggering net worth of $113.3 billion (As of March 26, 2024), according to Forbes, places him among the world’s top 10 billionaires.

Antilia, valued between $1 to $2 billion, ranks as one of the most expensive private residences globally, trailing only behind Buckingham Palace valued at $4.9 billion.

Out of its 27 floors, the top six are exclusively reserved for the Ambani family, accessible via high-speed elevators among the nine serving the skyscraper.

Six floors are designated as a sprawling garage capable of accommodating 168 luxury vehicles. Antilia houses a spa and yoga center, providing a sanctuary for health and wellness enthusiasts.

The Spectacle of the Ambani Wedding Event Reveals India’s Inequality

Nine people in fancy clothing stand on a stage, clapping, while spotlights shine down.

By Sonia Faleiro

Ms. Faleiro is an author from India.

Rihanna, Mark Zuckerberg, bejeweled elephants and 5,500 drones. Those were some of the highlights of what is likely the most ostentatious pre-wedding ceremony the modern world has ever seen.

On a long weekend in early March, members of the global elite gathered to celebrate the impending nuptials of the billionaire business titan Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son, Anant, and Radhika Merchant. Monarchs, politicians and the ultrawealthy, including Bill Gates and Ivanka Trump, descended on an oil refinery city in the western Indian state of Gujarat for an event so extravagant, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was, well, a wedding. But that will take place in July. For the long windup to the big day, some of Bollywood’s biggest stars, though invited as guests, took to the stage to sing and dance in what amounted to a bending of the knee to India’s most powerful family.

Watching the event, I couldn’t help thinking of the 1911 durbar, or royal reception, when King George V was proclaimed emperor of India. Once India won its independence from Britain in 1947, it committed itself to becoming a democratic welfare state — an audacious experiment that resulted in what is now the world’s largest democracy. But in advance of this year’s general election, expected to begin in April, the Ambani-Merchant matrimonial extravaganza shows us where true power in India now lies: with a handful of people whose untrammeled wealth and influence have elevated them to the position of India’s shadow leaders.

It’s difficult to imagine the Ambani-Merchant wedding event in an India that isn’t ruled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It’s true that the Ambanis have been wealthy for years now and that accusations of favorable treatment from government authorities are not unique to this family or the Modi government. But no other prime minister in India’s history has been so openly aligned with big business, and never before has the concentration of wealth been more apparent. India’s richest 1 percent now own more than 40 percent of the country’s wealth, according to Oxfam. The country has the world’s largest number of poor, at 228.9 million . And according to a newly published study looking at 92 low- and middle-income countries, India had the third-highest percentage of “zero food” children — babies between 6 months and 23 months old who had gone a day or more without food other than breast milk at the time they were surveyed. Oxfam has described this new India as the “survival of the richest.”

For the uberwealthy, this presents a no-holds-barred opportunity to exert their power and influence. In 2017, Mr. Modi introduced a fund-raising mechanism called electoral bonds to allow unlimited anonymous donations to political parties. In the five years that followed, the prime minister’s Bharatiya Janata Party received $635 million in contributions through such bonds, 5.5 times as much as its closest rival, the Congress Party. The 2019 Indian general elections cost $8.6 billion, surpassing the estimated $6.5 billion spent on the 2016 U.S. presidential and congressional elections.

Analysis by three independent media organizations in India published on March 14 revealed that a company called Qwik Supply Chains purchased bonds in the scheme worth $50 million. One of the company’s three directors, reporters later uncovered, is also a director at several subsidiaries of Reliance, Mukesh Ambani’s megacompany. A spokesperson for Reliance said that Qwik is not a Reliance subsidiary and did not respond to further questioning from Reuters . The Indian Supreme Court has since struck down the electoral bond mechanism, calling it unconstitutional , but the delay in addressing the matter has most likely come too late to change the outcome of the forthcoming election, which is widely considered all but certain to go in Mr. Modi’s favor.

And judging by the omnipresence of Mr. Modi’s image — the state-funded publicity exercises focused on exalting him, the constant advertisements in newspapers and on TV, his image plastered on billboards and life-size cutouts everywhere from train stations to public parks — even those who wish to vote for other candidates might be forgiven for thinking there are none. With the help of a small group of business tycoons, led by Mr. Ambani, the prime minister has dominated the Indian media landscape. Since Mr. Modi came to power, Mr. Ambani has invested heavily in the media and now owns more than 70 outlets, including India’s biggest media conglomerate, which are followed by 800 million weekly viewers. Many of these outlets have been trumpeting Mr. Modi’s credentials and heaping praise on him.

Mr. Ambani has been relentless in expressing his gratitude to Mr. Modi for working in step with Reliance. In January, Mr. Ambani hailed Mr. Modi as the “most successful prime minister in India’s history.” Later that month, the tycoon’s family traveled to Ayodhya for the inauguration of the Ram Mandir temple complex, which is being built on the highly contentious grounds of a functioning mosque that was destroyed by a Hindu mob in 1992. The construction of the Ram Mandir is the epitome of Mr. Modi’s tenure, which has been defined by a violent and divisive Hindu majoritarianism. Mr. Ambani donated $300,000 toward the temple costs.

Mr. Modi was reportedly not present during the Ambani wedding event, leading to speculation on social media that he wanted to avoid further accusations of cronyism in an election year. But his hand was evident. Anant Ambani told the press that he in part chose his family’s hometown Jamnagar as his pre-wedding venue to honor the prime minister’s “Wed in India” call for young Indians to marry at home rather than abroad. Jamnagar is the location of Mukesh Ambani’s oil refinery, which is the largest in the world. And in a brazen misuse of public resources, the government temporarily turned the city’s small domestic airport into a designated international airport, clearing the way for guests to land their private aircraft. The government airport was expanded, staff numbers were increased , and the Indian Air Force deployed additional military personnel — all in the service of one event for one family.

Some Indians viewed the arrival of the world’s elite on their shores as a sign of their country’s growing prominence in the world. The occasion was treated as a national event, with “breaking news” and live feeds of the arrival and then departure of every celebrity, of the more than 1,000 guests who stayed in luxury tents and were provided with makeup artists and sari drapers and were reportedly served 2,500 dishes and of the lion-shaped diamond brooch on Anant Ambani’s suit and his Richard Mille wristwatch, worth an estimated $1 million, which even Mr. Zuckerberg appeared to covet .

But what viewers saw that long weekend in March wasn’t India at all but the playground of an oligarch. The festivities took place weeks before a national election, at a time when India’s democracy is teetering on an edge. Violence against Muslims, Christians and Dalits has been normalized. The harassment of journalists, the incarceration of human rights activists and police violence against protesters have all but wrenched the country from the path chosen by its founding leaders, who wished the people of India to enjoy a “sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic.” In 2022, Freedom House, the nonprofit organization that tracks democratic governance, downgraded India from “free” to “partly free.” This status remains unchanged.

The Ambanis are entitled to spend their money on whatever they want (except, perhaps, on electoral bonds). And this latest celebration, while lavish, wasn’t entirely atypical in India, where weddings are viewed as an opportunity to demonstrate status. The giddy young couple at the center of the spectacle are charming: Ms. Merchant is a trained classical dancer; her fiancé is fond of animals. It would be churlish not to celebrate their happiness.

But if the 1911 Delhi durbar was a symbol of British imperial power, then the Ambani pre-wedding event in Jamnagar symbolized the rise of Mr. Modi’s oligarchs. And if these few are thriving in their symbiotic relationship with the Indian prime minister, it comes at the cost of the nation’s experiment with building a democratic welfare state. That’s nothing to celebrate.

In Images and Videos | A look inside Mukesh Ambani’s $4.6 billion 27-storey skyscraper Antilia – It has a snow room, luxurious spa, ice-cream parlor, and more

A ntilia, the residence of Mukesh Ambani , a renowned billionaire in Asia, transcends the definition of a mere dwelling – it stands as an architectural marvel. Named after a mythical island in the Atlantic, Antilia embodies the epitome of every individual’s dream home.

Completed in 2010, the Ambani family finally settled into this opulent abode in 2012, following a brief delay attributed to Vastu Shastra considerations. The concept for this magnificent edifice originated from Nita Ambani, who was inspired by the work of two prestigious American architecture firms: Perkins & Will in Chicago, and Hirsch Bedner Associates in Los Angeles, particularly their design for the Mandarin Oriental, New York. Adding to its allure, Antilia is adorned with lotus and sun motifs, intricately incorporated throughout its design.

Every aspect of Antilia exudes meticulous coherence – not even a blade of grass appears out of place. Noteworthy is the incorporation of a garden on one floor, seamlessly dividing the corporate meeting facilities and parking levels from the residential quarters above.

What sets Antilia apart is its commitment to diversity – no two floors share the same material, adding a unique touch to each level. With its extended floor height equivalent to that of a 60-story building, Antilia stands tall as a modern marvel with an unmistakable Indian essence, as aptly described by Nita Ambani to Vanity Fair.

Diljit Dosanjh’s 7 sources of income that contribute to his impressive net worth of Rs 172 crore

Out of its 27 floors, the top six are exclusively reserved for the Ambani family, accessible via high-speed elevators among the nine serving the skyscraper. Notably, six floors are designated as a sprawling garage capable of accommodating 168 luxury vehicles, including an impressive array of automobiles such as the Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard, BMW 760Li, Ferrari 812 Superfast, Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, Maserati Levante, Rolls Royce Cullinan, and two Rolls-Royce Phantoms. Moreover, Antilia’s structural integrity is fortified to withstand seismic activity up to 8 on the Richter scale.

Inside the lavish confines of Antilia, bespoke amenities abound, tailored to the Ambani family’s lifestyle . A dedicated dance studio caters to Nita Ambani’s passion for Bharatanatyam, while a snow room offers respite from Mumbai’s humidity. The mansion further boasts an ice cream parlor, where guests can savor freshly made treats amidst artificial snowfall. Additionally, Antilia houses a spa and yoga center, providing a sanctuary for health and wellness enthusiasts.

Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner announce plan to revive Life magazine

Model and investor husband’s company Bedford Media to bring photography publication back to print and digital distribution

The model and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss and her billionaire tech investor husband Joshua Kushner are set to revive Life magazine, the weekly photography publication.

On Thursday, Bedford Media, a holding company headed by Kloss and Kushner, announced that it is bringing Life back to print and digital distribution as part of an agreement with Dotdash Meredith, the US’s largest digital and print publisher.

The announcement comes more than 20 years after Life, which was initially founded in New York City in 1883, stopped its regular publications.

In 1936, Time took over Life and ran the magazine as a weekly publication until 1972. Between 1972 and 1978, the magazine appeared intermittently, and it was shuttered once more in 2000. Since 2008, Life has lived on as an online photo archive featuring images of the 20th century.

Bedford Media describes itself as focused on artisanal storytelling, creator authenticity and reviving legacy brands with storied histories and cultural resonance.

The company said it plans to relaunch the magazine as a publication on a “regular cadence and vibrant media property”, adding that it will be a voice for all generations through print, digital and video mediums. Bedford Media will manage the full operations of the magazine, including editorial strategy, revenue and media endeavors, the holding company said.

Meanwhile, Dotdash Meredith will continue owning the full rights to Life photography and its content archives dating back to the 1930s. The company will also continue publishing its single-topic special interest magazines for the Life brand available on newsstands, the press release said.

Hailing the deal, Kloss said : “We see Life as an uplifting and unifying voice in a chaotic media landscape. While Bedford is a new media company, we are deeply inspired by Life’s iconic legacy and ability to connect diverse audiences with universal narratives of humanity.”

Kushner, the brother of Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kusher, echoed similar sentiments, saying : “Life’’s legacy lies in its ability to blend culture, current events, and everyday life – highlighting the triumphs, challenges, and unique perspectives that define us.”

In 2023, Bedford Media bought the fashion magazine i-D from Vice Media Group following its bankruptcy filing.

Speaking to the Guardian at the time, Karen North, a communications professor at the University of Southern California, said: “What’s happening is that people with the means are finding things they care about and deciding to rework them so they stay alive, and it’s not just traditional businessmen with the means any more.”

The latest deal marks another win for Kushner, who runs his venture capital firm, Thrive Capital. In recent years, Kushner’s $5.3bn company has backed an array of companies including Spotify, Slack, Instagram, Instacart and OpenAI.

In January, the firm sold a minority stake of 3.3% to a group of powerhouse investors including Walt Disney’s CEO, Bob Iger; Henry Kravis, co-founder of the private equity firm KKR; as well as the Indian business mogul Mukesh Ambani.
