“Memorable wedding anniversary dinner” Review of Canberra Southern Cross Yacht Club

We were made to feel very special when celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary at the Yacht Club. We couldn't have asked for better service from the restaurant manager on the night, the food was perfect - my husband thoroughly enjoyed his oysters - and there's a great choice of wines, including a Sav Blanc from Tassie. A last minute decision to book a table at the Yacht Club resulted in a memorable anniversary dinner.

We sat outside and the view was lovely but our food was terrible- I really do not understand how you can cook fish that badly- dry as a bone and tasting like cardboard. Go here for a drink but would not eat here.

It's marina yatch club where fleet of yatches parking here , there is also shop for yatching equippments, restaurant selling fish and chips and pizza and salad , it's called at courtyard rrstaurant . Tgere is indoor dining with viiew of burley griffin lake and also outdoor dining. In Sunny day, people take their kids tp sit picnoc on the lawn by the lake.

Went to the Yacht Club for lunch today. Parking was atrocious. I persevered. I sat at my table with friends. 30 minutes later still no one approached us. I persevered. I looked at the menu , the prices were 5 star prices for 3 star meals. As a minimum you have to order at least two courses $55. We left and went to the Kingo. Retain your sanity; eat elsewhere.

Food and service was very underwhelming. My husband ordered a seafood basket and the crumbed prawn cutlet was cold in the middle. The battered fish was ok once the batter was removed. The lunch menu is a set two course for $55 - a high price for very average food. Canberra has excellent alternatives.

The days wedding photography coverage started off with the guys being photographed first. When I arrived they were finishing getting dressed.  I sensed a casual feel to the morning, so we kept the groom portraits to a minimum and told the guys to grab a cold drink, and to come out to the back yard for a few more photos, before they left for the Yarralumla yacht club, funny enough no one complained about that part of the photos session 🙂

Brooke and her bridesmaids were getting ready just down the road. When I arrived, Brooke was helping her father with his tie. The girls were super organised, Brooke only had her necklace and garter belt to put on, before it was time to leave for the ceremony.

The wedding ceremony was in the prime spot on the bank of Lake Burley Griffin at the Yarralumla Yacht Club , run by The Canberra southern cross club.

The ceremony was short and sweet, with just Brooke and Alan exchanging vows. Simple and beautiful! Shortly after the guests had congratulated Brooke and Alan it was time for the big group photo followed by photographs of the bridal party at Lennox gardens

Brooke and Alan, both avid Harley Davidson riders wanted to incorporate one of their bikes in some of the photos before we moved on to the bridal party photos.

The bridal party photos started off with individual portraits and then a quick group shot of the whole bridal party.  Brooke and Alan also had an opportunity for photos of the two of them, incorporating landmarks and scenery within and around the Lennox Gardens and Nara Peace park

They had specifically put time aside for themselves to have a picnic at the point of Lennox garden.  By simply putting 30 or so minutes aside to recharge, chill and enjoy each other’s company goes a long way to enjoying your wedding day.  The perfect time, is just before proceeding to the reception.

Meanwhile back at the Reception, held in the Yarralumla yacht club marquee, just meters from the water’s edge. Their guests had started to gather and enjoyed drinks, canapes and music.

Shortly after the bride and groom arrival at reception. We took the opportunity for family photos using Black Mountain and the gorgeous setting sun as the background.

From here their wedding continued with speeches, first dance and cake cutting.

But at night, it becomes the hippest joint in town. The drinks are expensive but worth it. The DJs play the latest hits to keep up the spirits of the partygoers. The place lives up to its indie bar reputation as the décor is extremely rustic. The brick walls, exposed bulbs, and second-hand furniture make it a go-to spot for all the hipsters in Moscow.

You can always find students in Strelka as it is one of the popular bars in the city. The view from this bar is breathtaking as it overlooks the Moscow River. The 70s inspire the décor. It is aesthetic and yet comfortable. Moreover, the cocktail menu at this bar is fantastic. The concoctions are prepared by using local ingredients. Perhaps this is the reason why bar hoppers prefer this bar over others. If you are lucky, you will be able to witness one of the weekly concerts and events held here. 

If you want to experience something vintage, this is the place you should visit. Terma Bar is one of the oldest bars in the city. You can find over 150 alcoholic beverages at this bar. The bartenders are incredibly skilled and put up a show with fire while they prepare your drinks. There is an adventurous food menu at the club which serves Uzbek cuisine. Moreover, the bar is open 24/7, so you can drop by at any time.

Do you hate bars where the music is so loud that you cannot talk to anyone else? If you do, you can visit ‘Noor.’ This electro bar is located on Tverskaya street. It is incredibly cozy, and the music’s volume levels are kept in check to promote conversations. On weekends, you will be able to attend live music events of national and international artists. The décor of this club is chic and is an ideal place to grab a couple of drinks with family and friends.

• City Space Bar and Lounge

The City Space Bar and Club provides a stunning view of Moscow. This bar is located on the 34 th floor of a hotel. It is highly exclusive, and only those who can afford to spend big bucks visit this bar. The drinks and food are not cheap at City Space Bar and Lounge. However, it is worth it!

• Mendeleev Bar

This bar might be hard to locate as it is built behind a Chinese Shop. But you should put into finding the bar as if it is worth the experience. As soon as you enter this place, you will be able to see a dark cellar. You can find a long list of alcoholic beverages at this place. Moreover, if you are lucky, you will be able to witness the occasional jazz concerts hosted in this secret bar.

• Chinese Pilot Jao Dao (Kitaysky Lyotchk Dzhao-Da)

If you want to avoid the glitz and glamour, Kitaysky Lyotchk Dzhao-Da is the perfect place for you. The décor of this bar is extremely rustic. The youth of Moscow mostly visits it because it is incredibly affordable. You can always find new artists and musicians hang out here. On almost all days of the week, you will be able to witness live music performances at Kitaysky Lyotchk Dzhao-Da.
