Motor yacht KOJU is a MOTOPANFILO 37M model from Benetti takes the spirit of the original 1960s 'Motopanfilo style' and updates it for the 21st Century: Any vintage elements are subtle and fit seamlessly into contemporary surroundings. The exterior styling comes from Francesco Struglia and Lazzarini Pickering Architetti for the interiors. The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 10 guests in five en-suite cabins, with a crew of seven for first-class service.

The exterior styling from Francesco Struglia features three outdoor deck areas for guest use: A spacious lower deck swim platform for access to the tender and water toys as well as sunbathing beside the sea, a shaded main deck aft for casual lounging and dining, a foredeck to take in the views, and a half-shaded observation deck for all-day outdoor use. More details of the layout have yet to be revealed by the shipyard.

INTERIOR The interiors from Claudio Lazzarini and Carl Pickering of Lazzarini Pickering Architetti take inspiration from the giant skeleton of a whale, reimagining structural beams as rib bones. Large windows on both sides create a sense of openness between the exterior and interiors, and the use of mirrored surfaces further enhances the sense of volume within.

KOJU Specifications

On the lower deck, the beach club is within the stern, and the tender garage with storage for water toys is forward of this, launching and retrieving the vehicles through a side hatch. The guest accommodation consists of four double cabins, and there is room for the installation of a sauna if the Owner desires.

There are two engine packages available to Owners, providing a top speed of 16 or 18 knots, and a transatlantic range of approximately 3,800 nautical miles at an economical 10 knots.

Yacht Accommodation

The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 10 guests over 5 en-suite cabins: 1 Master suite and 4 further guest cabins. ~ The Master suite is placed on the main deck forward, and the four remaining guest cabins, all doubles in size, are situated on the lower deck. ~ There is a professional crew of 7 to ensure that guests have everything they desire throughout their time on board.

KOJU, a modern yacht scheduled for delivery in 2021, was influenced by the glitz of Motopanfilo yachts from more than 50 years ago. The five staterooms on board the 10-passenger KOJU are furnished with contemporary amenities and plenty of natural light. Highlights include a "cocoon-style" observation deck, a beach club with a retractable canopy in the Hamptons style, and an outdoor pool area on the foredeck. With floor to ceiling windows, mirrors, and an open layout, the yacht's interior is luminous and opulent. The master suite, which has a full beam, is one of the cabins' well-appointed and naturally lit spaces. KOJU –The Multiple Award Winning Benetti Yacht Blending 1960’s Style With 2022 Mechanics.

The 121’4” KOJU is the first yacht in Benetti’s new Motopanfilo 37M series , and is a contemporary reinterpretation of the yachting tradition and lifestyle of the 1960s. David Bowie, the rockstar f the 1960s -70s owned a yacht similar to this, also built by Benetti. 

Benetti is the Italian ship and boat building company, whose yachts in this series are defined by the builder as “Yachts Suspended In Time.” Thus far, Koju has won multiple awards for its exceptional design, combining 1960s style with 2022 mechanics. And happily, Koju is available for Summer charter from IYC, the International Yacht Company.

The exterior is described as clean-cut, with tapering form with plentiful exterior volume. The stern, considered a 21st century revamp, features a spacious beach club and large bathing platform, while the tender garage has been tucked away to the side. The upper deck features a seating area, a formal dining space, sunbeds and a Jacuzzi.

Throughout the interiors, a palette based on shades of light wood, white and blue, immediately brings a seafaring mindset into awareness, but reinterpreted in a contemporary way.  

This 2022 reinterpretation of a 1960’s style is an achievement that combines the past with the present, an achievement, and has won three major awards thus far that celebrates innovative styling, reminiscent of an earlier time full of nautical adventure. The Kojo is a displacement yacht, meaning the hull allows the yacht to move through the ocean, displacing water, rather than riding on top of it in the style of a planning yacht. The dynamic stability of a displacement yacht makes for more comfortable cruising, with superior seakeeping when compared to fast/planing yachts.

Boat International’s 2022 Design & Innovation Awards took place in Milan, and the judges chose KOJU, recognizing the boat’s unique qualities including its effortless exterior profile styling.  KOJU went on to win two other awards: Outstanding Exterior Design, Motor Yachts 24m to 39.9m and Best New Series. But there’s more.

The latest round of accolades is from Robb Report’s Best Of Best 2022 Issue, where KOJO was included in the Best Of Best Luxury Yachts category as well as at the 2021 World Yacht Trophies in Cannes, where it claimed the Best Innovation award and at Boat International’s Super Yacht Awards in London 2022, where it won the award for ‘Semi-Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts - 35m to 39.9m’. 

The long horizontal lines are broken with simple, repeating, 45-degree cuts for contrast. The design also maximizes the strengths of a displacement yacht and the volume is well used in an appealing exterior deck arrangement. The salon features warm, light wood on the floors and curved ceilings while touches of white and blue are seen throughout. The cabin walls also follow the gentle curve of the hull, embracing the 1960’s design of the yacht. 

Kojo’s accommodation is for a total of 10 guests with an owner’s suite at the bow of the main deck and four guest cabins on the lower deck. 

It is believed that Kojo’s, impeccable standards of construction were key factors in the judges’ decision. Created by Francesco Struglia working alongside Benetti’s in-house designers, these were well connected to the outside world through huge windows, while long sight lines added to the impression of larger size and distinct, marine luxury. 

Many other aspects of the yacht also drew admiration: the engine room was spacious, with good access to all areas for maintenance and service, while the combination of efficient hull form and diesel gave Kojo a modest top speed of 17 knots and an enviable range of 3,800 nautical miles at 10-knots. 

KOJU’s interior was created by Lazzarini Pickering and Benetti SpA , with naval architecture by Pierluigi Ausonio Naval Architecture. 

Benetti describes the Koju yacht as “an elegant design that evokes memories of the best nautical traditions. The layout, styling, proportions and clever outdoor living spaces" convinced the judges of the boat’s ability to live and succeed in the competitive marketplace. They singled out the “looks, lifestyle, and price point” of the Koju, with one judge stating: “It’s very easy to see why this yacht hits the sweet spot.” 

At present, the yacht is available for charter from IYC, for Summer sailings to the Bahamas, the Caribbean, and beyond.

Lady A showcases a streamlined exterior, with a sharp vertical bow, a sleek steel hull, and a lightweight aluminum superstructure. Teak runs across all six decks, creating a classic, high-class feel.

With a beam of almost 38 feet, Lady A offers an abundance of space onboard, too. Designed by the in-house team, the interior combines rich Curly Maple and Macassar Ebony wood with gleaming black and white marbles by Saint Laurent. The generous layout includes seven cabins that can collectively sleep up to 14 guests and an elevator that allows seafarers to easily access all levels.

The upper deck is reserved exclusively for the owner and includes a full-beam owner’s cabin with a private study and dual bathrooms. Designed for entertaining, Lady A has several alfresco areas fit for outdoor soirees. The bridge deck, also referred to as the “party deck,” sports a large bar and plenty of lounge seating. The sundeck is equipped with a Jacuzzi and the requisite sun pads, while the foredeck is centered around another plush lounge. Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Pleasantly surprised, service is good so is the food. Great selection of Fusion food, a mixture of Italian, Japanese, European, Asian etc. A pleasantly nice dining experience, highly recommended, a must try!

Had to wait for the food for 1.5 hours and then another 20 minutes for the check. Finally called for the manager and he offered... a 10% discount as a compensation. Simply pathetic! The food is mediocre at best. Not bad per se, but one... would expect something better considering the prices. There are many places to eat in area that are much better. Avoid this one at all costs. Food is very expensive,very pretentious, doesn't worth that money. Portions are very small. We ordered ravioli and there were 4! Four raviolis! For almost 15 euros. Then we asked to bring us dessert menu but nothing, they didn't even bothered, so we payed and left... without dessert. Very poor service for that price. More

This is a very good restaurant. The food is really good, maybe the best in Moscow. The service is also good. The view from the restaurant is great. The prices are very high.

I often visit this restaurant and must say it’s one of the best in Moscow in terms of quality and service. Staff really try hard to make sure that you are happy and satisfied. Visited this lovely restaurant with a friend of mine. It was relaxingly warm August evening - so the place on the river seemed like a good idea. We came quite early and the restaurant was not full. The hostesses kindly offered several places to sit... and we chose to sit on the sofas. We had some wine, which was good. We struggled a bit when deciding about the food as few options (scallops) were not available. Fish on ice on display did not look very fresh. To be honest it was an unusually hot August and it is probably understandable that some see food options were not available. However, we did manage to order something and sat waiting and looking onto the river. My long-legged friend struggled sitting at the low sofa and the manager noticed that, offering as a very good, proper table beside the open window. It was nice touch and I was very pleased by their polite observations and immediate reaction to solve the problem. Food was quite good and presentation was perfect. Perhaps I can something about the food, but 1 visit is not enough to criticize or make a definitive opinion. Overall, quality place, which of course, does not come cheap. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation. More

37m Benetti motor yacht Koju for sale

The 36.9-metre motor yacht Koju is newly listed for sale with Matthew Stone of IYC .

Built in composite GRP by Benetti in Italy in 2022, the Motopanfilo 37M model's exterior design is by Francesco Struglia , in collaboration with Benetti, while the interior is by renowned Lazzarini & Pickering.

Inspiration was taken from Motopanfilo models of the 1960s and 1970s and the end result is said to retain classical elegance combined with modern day requirements. Loro Piana fabrics and bespoke furnishings, combined with exquisite detailing, give a feel of nautical minimalism with comfort. Structural frames that are visible inside are supposed to represent whale bones.

Floor-to-ceiling windows ensure ample natural light floods into the saloon and formal dining room as well as keeping a connection with the surrounding water.

Accommodation is for 10 guests with a master suite – with his-and-hers bathrooms and private study – on the main deck and four doubles, with beds athwartships, on the lower deck. There are quarters for a crew of up to eight.

The water-level beach club is described as "Hamptons style" and this is complemented by a lounging area surrounding the pool on the foredeck and an observation deck where al fresco meals with a view are enjoyed.

The yacht for sale has a cruising speed of 13 knots and top speed of 16 knots. She is proven in the charter market and is commercially compliant, ready for the summer season.

Lying in Cannes, France, Koju is asking $18,995,000.
