The cabin is thoughtfully designed and equipped with all the essentials to ensure a comfortable and convenient stay.There are two interior options, one with the galley and heads near the cabin entrance and a version with the galley and heads further forward. The second variant has two additional pilot bunks. Both layouts feature a large saloon with the owner's berth near the bow. Since this 54-foot yacht is a semi-customized vessel, the owners can decide on the interior design themselves. By default, the interior is bright white with beautiful mahogany details.

With halyards and the jib sheets running below the deck, the Eagle 54 has an ultra-sleek deck layout. For easy handling, the jib winches are positioned within reach of the helmsman. Just forward of the jib winches, the two halyard winches, which double as gennaker sheet winches. The halyard's tails neatly disappear in the cockpit coaming. A captive winch mounted below deck, allows the mainsheet to be trimmed with the push of a button. Also the powered headsail furler is mounted below deck. The standard rigging features a carbon mast and boom. The boomvang and backstay are easily controlled from the helm on the hydraulic panel.

The Eagle 54 is famed for its cruising comfort. Developed with a contemporary underwater profile, modern deck hardware and all controls placed within reach of the helmsman, the 54 foot yacht can be easily sailed single handed . After all, we believe that sailing an Eagle should be uncomplicated fun. And with only 9 tons displacement, the Eagle 54 is also built for performance. Eagle 54 – an immaculately clean-decked daysailer from Hoek and Dutch builder Leonardo Yachts

These photos of the André Hoek-designed Eagle 54 from the Netherlands show off her clean lines and luxury fittings, says Toby Hodges

Leonardo Yachts’ co-founder Melle Boersma sent us these first sailing pictures of their new Eagle 54. When I first saw them I presumed they were computer-enhanced renderings, but no, she really is that immaculately clean.

Running rigging and in-boom furling lines are all led back to the helm, cleverly hidden within the deck, with tail stowage in the coamings. There are hydraulic controls for vang and backstay tension, even for the jib car positioning, all operable from the helm.

The 54 joins Dutch-based Leonardo Yachts’ growing range of luxury daysailers, which includes a 36 and 44 designed by Dykstra Naval Architects. Take a peek at the dimensions or accommodation plan for the Eagle and you quickly understand the ethos of the boat.

She gives away 20ft alone in overhangs – now that’s luxury! The Eagle’s lines perhaps reflect how much time Hoek has spent working on J Class yachts recently.

Where the Eagle differs from a J, however, is that she promises to be a delight on the wheel, thanks to her combination of modern build and appendages. Her composite construction, with foam-cored epoxy hull and deck, results in an extremely light displacement of just nine tonnes. Moreover, her thin-chord T-keel and high-aspect fin rudder should make her highly responsive to helm, especially when heeled and sliding through flat water.

The long, deep cockpit is obviously the place to enjoy the sailing, but the 54 also has an inviting saloon and accommodation, tastefully finished in varnished mahogany. She is offered with two or four berths in a large owner’s cabin and two pilotberths.

Now You Know: Yacht Club announces renovation progress; Spammy Jammy this weekend

The project includes new build above the port cochere and a “total gut rehab” of the interior to provide upgraded social and dining spaces.

Construction at the Marco Island Yacht Club is moving forward on schedule aiming to complete this major renovation in time for the holiday season.

“We are really pleased with the progress as well as the working relationship with our partners, MKH Architecture and D Garret Construction,” said Dave Everitt, MIYC chairman of the board. “We’ve managed to overcome obstacles and surprises, holding to the schedule so members can enjoy a beautifully transformed clubhouse before the end of the year.”

Highlights of the project include the clubhouse, which will feature a fresh, modern décor; state-of-the-art kitchens and an additional bar upstairs bar.

Also, a brand-new members lounge will be established, offering a comfortable and inviting space for socializing and relaxation.

General Manager Missy Duffy emphasized that the club remains active even without its clubhouse.

“We continue to hold activities at outside locations, and of course we have a variety of boating events on the water and socializing on the docks, ensuring that the club's vibrant community remains active and engaged,” she said. “We are also busy planning and preparing for a spectacular grand opening of the new clubhouse toward the end of the year."

Spammy Jammy is this weekend

Spammy Jammy, held each June at the Little Bar in Goodland, is an annual and legendary event all about Spam, pajamas and warding off storms during hurricane season. It’s also an excuse to party, not that one is needed – especially in Goodland.

Put on your PJ’s and head to Goodland this Saturday to mark 45 years of Little Bar and bring your best Spam sculpture.

Music will be from Stumpy Joe + Farney and the Railford Starke Band.The event is from 5 until 8:30 p.m., Saturday, June 29 at 205 Harbor Place N., Goodland.

‘Torn to Shreds’: Man Might Lose Leg After Woman Backs Boat Propeller into Him in Alleged Drunken Accident

A Texas man has suffered severe injuries after a woman allegedly backed a boat propeller into him while intoxicated, authorities claim.

The incident took place on Saturday, June 22, when a boat driver allegedly backed over the man and “struck him with a propeller prop,” the Azle Fire Department tells PEOPLE. 

The department did not confirm the identity of the alleged victim, but according to a GoFundMe set up by his family, he is Kyle Lively, a father of two , who was in Eagle Mountain Lake near Fort Worth, Texas. 

His family says Lively was “unexpectedly thrown off the back of his boat” in the incident, an account the Azle Fire Department confirmed with NBC DFW . 

“He was backed up over and his thighs and knees were torn to shreds by the propellers,” the family said in the fundraiser. “He was able to get himself to the surface of the water using his arms and will to live.”

When he called for help, Lively was reportedly saved by three people present at the scene who “tied tourniquets around his legs” and called emergency services, per the fundraiser.

Lively's sister, Marie Lively, told NBC DFW that her brother's left leg might be amputated.

“We just found out actually that there’s a high percentage that he might actually lose his left leg," she told the outlet.

In the GoFundMe, Lively's family expressed hope that he will recover, but they said the family will need financial help.

"The doctors hope he will be able to walk again, and we know that he will," they said in the fundraiser. "We also know this is going to be a long recovery, an uphill battle and a huge financial struggle for Kyle and his family."

Kelly McCandless was arrested in connection with the incident, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department confirms with PEOPLE. 

McCandless, of Kennedale, Texas, was arrested on a charge of “boating while intoxicated,” according to Tarrant County jail records. 

It wasn’t immediately clear if she has entered a plea or retained an attorney to speak on her behalf.

10 Fabergé eggs from the Moscow Kremlin Museums (PHOTOS)

In 1885, Emperor Alexander III was the first to commission a precious Easter egg from jeweler Carl Fabergé, and he presented it as a surprise gift to his wife, Empress Maria Feodorovna. 

His son, Nicholas II, continued the tradition - every year he gave them as presents not only to his mother but also his spouse, Alexandra Feodorovna. In total, the House of Fabergé made 52 eggs for the Imperial Family. After the 1917 Revolution, many were sold abroad by the Bolsheviks and today can be found in different museums around the world. However, some have been lost. As for these 10 masterpieces, they remained the property of the Russian state and are now part of the collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums.

1. The Memory of Azov Egg, 1891

The egg, in neo-Rococo style, was made in the workshop of jeweler Mikhail Perkhin and was commissioned by Alexander III. This Easter gift commemorated a nine-month voyage to the East by the Tsar's sons (including the heir to the throne, the future Emperor Nicholas II). The surprise inside the egg is a miniature replica of the Pamiat Azova [Memory of Azov] armored cruiser on which the Tsareviches made their journey. The ship is made with gold and platinum, and set on a plate of aquamarine the color of sea water, in a gold frame with a loop for handling. The egg is made of dark green heliotrope, recalling the ocean depths.

2. The Bouquet of Lilies Clock Egg, 1899

This gold egg is one of 20 presented by Nicholas II to his wife, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, and is a true declaration of love. In addition to the lilies (a symbol of purity and innocence), the egg is also surmounted with a wreath of gold roses (a symbol of love). A white enamel dial with diamond numerals revolved horizontally, and a diamond-studded gold clock hand shaped like Cupid's arrow showed the time.

3. The Trans–Siberian Express Egg, 1900

One of the few eggs never to have left Russia, it commemorates a momentous event for the country - the completion of the main section of the Trans-Siberian Railway. The Easter gift is also a reminder that the future Emperor Nicholas II had visited the construction site during his journey to the East.

The egg shell has an interior lined with velvet, while its exterior is decorated with enamel and a wide silver belt on which a route map of the Trans-Siberian Railway is engraved (unfinished sections are marked by a dotted line). Inside the egg is a fold-away steam locomotive with a ruby lamp, diamond headlights and five carriages with windows made of rock crystal. A special mechanism set them in motion.

4. The Clover Egg, 1902

This egg is made in the Art Nouveau style fashionable at the time. Its surface is decorated with an exquisitely thin and delicate pattern imitating clover: Some leaves are covered in green enamel and the others in diamonds. A ruby ribbon curls through the openwork design, and the whole structure is supported on a pedestal of gold clover stems. If you open the egg, on the rim you can see a miniature crown of the Russian Empire and the year 1902. The surprise itself has been lost - it was a four-leaf clover adorned with diamonds, and miniature portraits of the Tsar's four daughters.

5. The Moscow Kremlin Egg, 1906

The largest of the Imperial eggs commemorates the visit of the Royal couple to Moscow for Easter in 1903. Nicholas and Aexandra didn't like to visit the old capital following the mass crush on Khodynka Field during the festivities after their coronation, so their two-week return to Moscow was a historic event. The egg itself resembles the main Dormition Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin and is crowned with a gold cupola. The jeweled masterpiece stands on a base that imitates the outlines of the Kremlin. The court jewelers paid attention to the smallest details and reproduced in gold and enamel the coat of arms on the Spasskaya Tower, as well as icons and items of the cathedral's interior. The egg also has a wind-up clock and musical mechanism that plays the "Cherubic Hymn", a favorite hymn of Nicholas II. 

6. The Alexander Palace Egg, 1908

In 1904, a long-awaited son and heir was born into the Imperial family - the Tsarevich Alexei. He was afflicted with hemophilia, however, and the Empress began to experience increasingly frequent anxiety attacks - so the royal couple decided to retreat from the prying eyes of fashionable society and went to live in the Alexander Palace outside the town in Tsarskoye Selo. The palace provides the theme of this egg by jeweler Henrik Wigström - a miniature replica of it is the surprise inside.

The dark green nephrite egg is encrusted with gold and studded with diamonds and rubies. It is adorned with five watercolor portraits of the children of Nicholas and Alexandra: Tatiana, Olga, Maria, Anastasia and Alexei.

7. The Standart Yacht Egg, 1909

In 1909, Nicholas II presented Alexandra with an Easter egg containing a miniature replica of the Imperial yacht Standart, his favorite ship on which he frequently put to sea with his family.

The egg is made of rock crystal and blue lapis lazuli. Inside, the gold miniature model of the yacht seems to be slicing through the crystal waves.

8. The Alexander III Monument Egg, 1909

Nicholas presented this Easter egg with a model of a monument commemorating his father, Alexander III, to his mother, Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna, in 1910. The miniature was inspired by a real monument to the "Peacemaker" Tsar which had been erected in St Petersburg in 1909. The gold monument stands on a lapis lazuli base. The surrounding egg is carved out of rock crystal, mounted entirely with platinum and decorated with double-headed eagles and diamond-encrusted trelliswork.

9. The Romanov Tercentenary Egg, 1913

Carl Fabergé made this valuable egg to coincide with an important date: The 300th anniversary of Romanov rule was being marked on a grand scale in Russia in 1913. The work is replete with state emblems - the egg's purpurine base with enamel decorations resembles one of the ancient items of Tsarist regalia, the Russian Imperial shield of state. A double-headed eagle of silver-gilt serves as the pedestal for the egg. In its talons the eagle holds other important regalia - the orb and scepter. The gold shell of the egg itself is decorated with enamel and 18 portraits of the Romanov dynasty's rulers - from the first tsar of the House of Romanov, Michael, to Nicholas II. The surprise contained inside the egg - reinforcing its function as a manifesto - is a globe portraying the territory of the Russian Empire.

10. The Steel Military Egg, 1916

During World War I, no-one was in a mood for experimental trelliswork or the sparkle of diamonds, so the Fabergé jewelers created an unusual Easter egg made of steel. The composition is topped by the Imperial crown, and on the polished body is the Imperial coat of arms - a double-headed eagle with arrows and a laurel wreath in its talons - symbols of war and glory. The egg stands on steel feet recalling artillery shells, placed on a base of jade.

The surprise inside is in the form of an easel with a watercolor showing Nicholas II visiting the army at the battlefront. The image is inspired by actual photographs of the time.

Tim Weah’s loss of composure leads to red card, costs United States at Copa America

ATLANTA (AP) — Tim Weah’s momentary lapse in judgment could become a big blemish on his career.

Especially if the United States fails to advance at the Copa America.

Weah’s straight red card forced the U.S. to play with 10 men for the majority of the game against Panama. The Americans lost 2-1 on Thursday night and are in danger of failing to advance past the first round of their biggest test ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

U.S. coach Gregg Berhalter praised his shorthanded team’s effort, but the Americans — even with a raucous, pro-American crowd cheering them on — couldn’t overcome Weah’s blunder.

“The match-changing event is obviously the red card and it puts us in a tough spot,” Berhalter said. “Tim got bumped. He got checked and he reacted. He apologized to the group and I think he understands what a difficult position he put the group in.”

Weah punched defender Roderick Miller on the head in the 18th minute. The foul was initially ruled a yellow card. But after review, referee Iván Barton upgraded the yellow to a red.

“We talked beforehand about the tendencies of this referee,” Berhalter said. “We knew what he’s capable of, and to be honest, I think we played right into his hands.”

After the game, Weah posted an apology .

“Today I let my team and country down,” Weah said. “A moment of frustration led to an irreversible consequence, and for that, I am deeply sorry to my teammates, coaches, family and our fans. Moving forward, I am committed to learning from this experience, not allowing an opponent to provoke me, and working to regain the trust and respect of my team and supporters.”

It was the second lapse in composure for the U.S. team in seven months. Defender Sergiño Dest got in a needless dispute with a referee, getting a pair of yellow cards for dissent in a 30-second span against Trinidad and Tobago last November.

The U.S. is second in Group C, ahead of Panama on goal difference, but the Americans will be without Weah on Monday against 15-time champion Uruguay and Panama plays a weak Bolivian team.

“We know we have to go out there and get a result, and we’ll go to do that,” Berhalter said. “We believe in this group. It’s a strong team. I think if we stay focused and execute a game plan we’ll be OK.”

Weah’s father, George Weah, was FIFA Player of the Year in 1995 and finished a four-year term as Liberia’s president in January.

His son is now in the spotlight.

“Timmy knows the mistake he made. He’s going to learn from it,” American captain Christian Pulisic said. “It’s a lapse of judgment. It’s just one simple second.”
