Oahu Circle Island Tour

Take a jaw-dropping journey across our island paradise

The Circle Island Tour lets you explore the historical, scenic, and cultural highlights of Oahu—the comfortable, convenient way. The tour takes you past Diamond Head, Hanauma Bay, the Pali Lookout, Dole Plantation, famous North Shore beaches, the Hawai'i Temple and more.

Depart Waikiki

6:45 am -12:30 pm

Narrated historical and cultural tour of the beautiful island of Oahu.

Arrive at Polynesian Cultural Center

6:30 pm or 9:30 pm

Return to Waikiki from PCC

The iconic Diamond Head one of the most recognizable volcanic cones in the world. From your vantage point at Black Point Lookout, gaze out towards the beautiful Pacific reef while the southern edge of Diamond Head towers over you.

Once a recreational area of Hawaiian nobility, Hanauma Bay Lookout provides a breathtaking view of this famous 2,000 foot white sand beach and strikingly beautiful blue sheltered cove.

From the humble beginnings of a small fruit stand, James Dole grew a pineapple empire from the verdant fields of central Oahu. You can enjoy some of the fruits of his labor with your own cup of a Dole Whip®, a true island favorite.

Built in 1909, the Makapu’u Lighthouse overlooks the stunning views of Makapuu Beach, Rabbit Island, and the dramatic windward coastline.

Pali lookout is the the site of the Battle of Nuuanu. Here in 1795, King Kamehameha united Oahu under his rule. Perched over 1000 feet above Oahu, it offers amazing views atop sheer cliffs.

Stretching for more than 7 miles, the winter waves of the north shore provide the perfect conditions for the world’s most prestigious surf competitions. See for yourself where legends are made.

“This tour is amazing. What a wonderful way to see Ohahu! A perfect prelude to experiencing the magic of the PCC.”

~ Matthew Jones, Phoenix, AZ

“We did the Circle Island Prime Rib Dinner package. When you see what you get it is a great value for your money. On the circle island tour our driver “Henry” was very knowledgeable and extremely funny, We loved it.”

~ POM1272, Melbourne, AU

“The Ambassador Circle is the way to go. The canoe pageant, and most of the villages are very educational and enjoyable. The move is beautiful. The dinner food and show is also very good. However the evening show was spectacular—worth the entire price.”

~ Smith8646, Montgomery, Alabama

“This was a superb artful and educational way to learn about the Polynesian culture. Would recommend the Circle Island tour option for tickets. Nothing but praises all around.”

You haven’t really seen Oahu until you’ve experienced this well-rounded overview of the island.

Compare all 3 of our Circle Island Tours ; other options include: - A more intimate small group tour (only 4-8 people, unless private) with some different stops and pickups including the airport and cruise terminal - A small group tour that also includes  Pearl Harbor , the most popular attraction in Hawaii. Key Details

  • Knowledgeable & entertaining local guide/driver
  • Comfortable transport from Waikiki/Honolulu on spacious coach bus
  • Continental breakfast of Hawaiian-Portuguese “malasada” doughnuts made fresh by the popular Kamehameha Bakery, along with bottled water
  • All parking & admission fees

This map shows a general representation of the circle island tour route. The tour usually goes counter-clockwise.

The following are a mixture of stops (“S") and drive-bys ("D") (i.e. photo ops from the comfort of the bus with large windows; the bus usually pulls over if possible or otherwise drives by slowly), listed in chronological order. Stops in bold are longer (30+ minutes), whereas other stops are 10-20 minutes.

Diamond Head Crater (D) - pauses at the lookout  Kahala Gold Coast (D) - storied estates of the rich & famous Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve (D) - clear view from lookout where bus pulls over Halona Blowhole (S) - see ocean water enter collapsed lava cave and spew up to 30 ft in the air (depending on ocean conditions at the time) Nuuanu Pali Lookout (S) - expansive scenic views of the eastern coast at historically important site Byodo-In Temple (S) - beautiful Japanese temple located in lush valley among Koi fish ponds and tropical landscapes Tropical Farms (S) - farm visitor center known for its local macadamia nuts & coffee, with free tastings North Shore Beaches (D) - picturesque beaches known for their monster waves and surf competitions in the winter Town of Haleiwa (S) - charming beachside town, with independent time (up to 1.5 hours) for lunch and shopping (map with recommendations provided) Waialua Coffee & Soap Factory (S) - optional stop to watch soap being made and to stamp your own soap if desired, as well as shop for a wide variety of locally-sourced products; otherwise you can spend more time in Haleiwa Dole Pineapple Plantation (S) - learn about the storied history of pineapples in Hawaii, explore the grounds to see different varieties, and enjoy treats such as the famous Dole Soft Serve / Whip  Honolulu City Tour (D) - see sites such as Iolani Palace, Aloha Tower, and Chinatown

There are 9 pickup locations in Waikiki , where most visitors stay. There should be one a short walk from most/all Waikiki lodgings. They are, in chronological order:

Ala Moana Hotel / Shopping Center (6:30 am) Prince Waikiki Hotel (6:35 am) Hilton Hawaiian Village / Grand Islander (6:40 am) Hale Koa Hotel (6:45 am) Hotel La Croix (6:50 am) Hokulani Waikiki (6:55 am) Seaside Ave (Ross Store) (7:00 am) Hyatt Regency (7:05 am) Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort (7:10 am)

If you're staying outside Waikiki , you may want to meet at Ala Moana for the free parking at the shopping center. Otherwise, Uber & Lyft are active on Oahu and you may want to meet at the last stop, the Waikiki Beach Marriott, to bypass all the other Waikiki pickups. If arriving early via cruise ship , it could work for 6 am arrivals by transporting yourself (i.e. Uber or Lyft) 10-25 minutes (depending on traffic) to the last pickup, Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort, by the 7:10 am pickup time. Note: the arrival time provided by your cruise ship may be a conservative estimate that already takes into account the disembarking process, unlike the arrival times on this site . You may want to research the experience of others who have taken your cruise for a more precise sense of timing. Alternatively, our small group Circle Island Tour which picks up at the cruise terminal at 8 am may be a better fit.

If you're visiting from another island , due to the early start of this tour it doesn't appear any flights would ensure getting in on time for the scheduled pickups. Therefore, you would need to fly in the day before and spend the night. Flying out the same day as the tour wouldn't be an issue as the tour concludes in Honolulu around 4 pm; however, since the tour does not take luggage, you would need to leave your luggage at your hotel front desk when checking out in the morning, or there are various luggage store services in Honolulu. Alternatively, our small group Circle Island Tour which picks up at the airport at 8:15 am and drops off around 5 pm may be a better fit.

  • There is so much to see on the popular circle island route. This tour has been optimized by those with decades of experience and will ensure you see the most with high quality stops than would likely be possible on your own in one day. Proper pacing means you will spend a reasonable amount of time at each stop without the day being overly long or conversely rushing through.
  • Learn from a local guide with a deep knowledge of Oahu, which will bring to life your Hawaii sightseeing experience
  • This is a popular route that can be crowded at times; let the tour handle parking at the various stops, as well as optimize the best itinerary to minimize peak crowds
  • Unfortunately car break-ins do occur on this route, and it’s less stressful and safer with a secured tour bus
  • Especially taking into account the usually high cost and difficulty with parking in urban Waikiki, consider foregoing renting a vehicle on your trip

Age 12+: $135 Age 3-11: $81 Age 2 & under: Free

The deluxe motorcoach bus that is generally used has a max capacity of 55, but it often does not fill up.

Amenities include:

  • Onboard restroom
  • Ample overhead storage for bags
  • Air-conditioning
  • Panoramic window views
  • Reclining seats
  • Adjustable headrest / footrest
  • Microphone and flat screen video system (multiple short videos are shown to enhance the educational component)
  • In addition to regular thorough disinfection, the onboard HVAC system has a combination of antimicrobial filters and UV lights to eliminate 99.99% of airborne bacteria, viruses, and mold, exceeding standard HEPA filters and government requirements

The Pali Lookout offers a spectacular panoramic view of Oahu

Lonely Planet guidebook:

Oahu in 1 Day: Best Driving is Circle Island Tour. The drive and scenery are mesmerizing.

There are plenty of good places to eat in Haleʻiwa; think of it as the North Shore’s dining capital. There are also plenty of food trucks around Haleʻiwa town: expect to pay $8 to $14 for a plate.

Oahu Revealed:

Byodo-In Temple is the absolute essence of serenity. It's like taking a mini-trip to Japan. Backed by the gorgeous Ko'olau mountain range and fronted by a large pond filled with koi and curious black swans, it's impossible to not feel peaceful here.

Tropical Farms has a very pretty garden area and gorgeous monkeypod trees providing shade. They are very generous with the flavored mac nut samples and coffee. The variety of locally made soaps, oils, perfumes, honeys, jams and sauces make their central shop a great place to visit.

How much physical exertion is there?

This tour is open to everyone with any physical abilities. While there are multiple stops and ample time to walk around outside the vehicle, the amount of walking can be fairly minimal if desired.

However, due to there being many stops, wheelchairs and scooters are not permitted. Walkers, strollers, canes, etc. are fine.

Is seating assigned?

No, it is first-come, first-served. Those with earlier pickup times will get more choice in seating; if this is important to you, you can select an earlier pickup location at checkout (refer to the pickup schedule outlined above), rather than simply be assigned the one closest to your lodging. Note: when there are multiple locations near your lodging, you are otherwise automatically assigned the location with the latest pickup time.

Does the tour enter Waimea Valley?

This optimized tour does not because: 1) it requires a significant amount of time, including a 1.5 mile round-trip walk, taking time away from other key Circle Island stops, and 2) more often than not Waimea Falls is either dry or a roaring brown mess, not very scenic or safe for a dip; it also can be quite crowded.

If you're looking to visit a waterfall during your Oahu trip, consider popular Manoa Falls which is only 10-15 minutes from Waikiki. Or consider heading to Maui for our Road to Hana Tour ; just a short flight from Honolulu (as low as $40 each way via Southwest or Hawaiian) and can be done in a day without spending the night.

What more can you tell me about the operator?

Although we only started offering this tour on our website in July 2023, the tour operator is one of the most established and respected on Oahu, operating tours for the past 27 years. The tour operator name and contact info will be in your detailed booking confirmation email, for your reference.

Circle Island

Follow the coast all the way to the North Shore and return back to town through the center of the island

The circle island ride is a must do experience for experienced riders who have a motorcycle license*. Follow the coast around Diamond Head, past Hanauma Bay, Sandy Beach, Waimanalo, Kailua, through Kaneohe and along the Windward Side past the Polynesian Cultural Center and see the Seven Mile miracle from Sunset Beach to Haleiwa. Then head back down through the center of the island, past the Dole Plantation, Pearl Harbor, and into Honolulu to complete your epic trip through Downtown, Ala Moana and into Waikiki. Make sure to take your swimwear and sunscreen, because some of the world’s most beautiful beaches are along this route.

*Please note that you can do this ride on a moped, without a motorcycle license. It is a very long ride for a moped with a 49cc engine. The riding can become difficult at times and you may need to ride along the shoulder, since your rental won’t keep up with traffic. You will also have to avoid all of the major highways (We’ve included directions for mopeds below to help you navigate safely.). The ride is unforgettable, but also not for everybody, so please make your best judgement. Also, if you decide not to complete the Circle Island ride, you’ll already have completed the East Side ride, which is a must-see for all visitors to Oahu.

Circle Island Tour Route

  • Head towards the ocean on Kapahulu Ave.
  • Turn Left on Kalakaua Ave.

(Ride past the Waikiki Aquarium and the War Memorial on the right, and Kapiolani Park on the left. After the water fountain, continue straight and explore the historic homes on Coconut Ave. until it intersects Diamond Head Road)

  • Turn Right on Diamond Head Road

(Climb to the top of Diamond Head Road where views of local surfers and the Diamond Head Lighthouse await. Enjoy driving through the “Beverly Hills of Oahu” as Diamond Head Road becomes Kahala Ave.)

  • Turn Left onto the 72 (Kalanianaole Hwy) at the Stop Sign

(Stay on the bike path on the highway and be prepared to ride with some pretty fast traffic against strong winds. Please be aware of cars making right turns from the far right lane)

  • Continue on the 72 (Kalanianaole Hwy) for approximately 13 miles
  • Turn Left onto the 61 (Pali) Highway at the fork in the highway. You’ll see Castle Medical Center on the right as you turn onto the Pali
  • Turn Right onto the 83 (Kahekili) Highway towards Kaneohe
  • Continue onto the 830 and then back onto the 83 (Kamehameha) Highway to enjoy the scenic drive around the Northeastern coast of Oahu

( This 35 mile stretch of highway takes you out of mountainous, green Kaneohe and onto the oceanside stretch of the ride. You’ll ride through the picturesque towns of Hauula, Laie, Kahuku, and Pupukea. Please use caution as the 830 (Kahekili) Highway is largely a 2-lane road, so be aware of fast-moving traffic and pull over if there are cars waiting behind you. Enjoy the gorgeous views and drive with aloha!)

  • Turn Right at the Haleiwa North Shore sign to ride through Historic Haleiwa Town
  • As you exit Haleiwa at the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit to continue onto the 99 (Kamehameha) Highway

(You’ll pass the famous Dole Pineapple Plantation on the left as you ride into central Oahu)

  • Turn Left onto Wilikina Dr. to remain on the 99 (Kamehameha) Highway
  • At the H2 Junction, remain on Wilikina Dr. and then turn right to continue on the 99 (Kamehameha) Highway through Waipio and Mililani

  • At the H1 Junction in Pearl City, turn left to continue on the 99 (Kamehameha) Highway and pass the Pearl Harbor Memorial as you head towards Honolulu
  • Take the exit for the 92 (Nimitz) Highway and continue onto Ala Moana Blvd.
  • Turn Right onto Kalakaua Ave. and follow it through the main Waikiki Strip

Shaka Guide's Oahu Grand Circle Island Tour Itinerary

December 13, 2023

Shaka Guide

On Shaka Guide’s Grand Circle Island Tour you’ll make your way to Oahu’s North Shore stopping at cultural sites, famous beaches, a waterfall, and some of the island’s most famous foodie spots along the way.

This tour has a total of 23 stops with 120 audio points sharing history and music throughout your journey.

This tour has three starting points, depending on where you’re staying. These are:

  • Ko Olina on Oahu’s west side, and
  • Turtle Bay on the North Shore

Just select the starting point that works best for you and the tour will travel in a counter-clockwise loop around the island, returning where you began.

Please note, that this tour cannot be done in the opposite direction. If you are looking to take a tour that gets you to the North Shore earlier in the day, try our Shaka Guide Legendary North Shore Loop .

grand circle tour

*This sample itinerary starts and ends in Waikiki.*

This tour takes approximately 6-8 hours to complete. We recommend you start the tour early, by 9:00 a.m., if you’re looking to make it to every stop.

Leonard's Bakery

Approximate time: 20 minutes

It’s time to fuel up for the day ahead, and what better way than a deep-fried, Portuguese donut, known as a malasada?

We’ll guide you to Leonard’s Bakery, one of Oahu’s most famous spots for these delicious treats.

Leonard’s features eight different types of malasadas from its original that’s coated in sugar to custard-stuffed varieties filled with flavors like

  • haupia (coconut)
  • macadamia nut

There’s usually a line, but don’t let that deter you -- it moves pretty fast.

Byodo In Temple

Approximate time: 30 minutes

After you’ve grabbed a snack at Leonard’s you’ll begin traversing your way to the North Shore.

On the way, you can stop at Byodo In Temple, a site that was built in 1968 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Japanese immigrants to Hawaii.

Nestled under the Ko?olau Mountains, the temple is a replica of a 950-year-old Japanese temple in Uji, Japan that is listed as a United Nations World Heritage Site.

Please note: the cost of admission is $5 per person and it's cash only.

Tropical Nut Farm

Approximate time: 10 minutes

Make a quick pit stop at The Tropical Nut Farm to try a wide variety of macadamia nuts from Maui onion and garlic to Kona coffee glazed.

The farm offers free coffee and nut samples so you can try them before you buy.

Mokoli?i (known locally as Chinaman’s Hat)

For a scenic lookout, you’ll turn into Kualoa Beach Park, just before we go to Kualoa Ranch. Here look out for an island in the distance.

The island is called Mokoli?i but is locally known as Chinaman’s Hat.

This is just a quick stop for the view, but if you’re looking for some more adventure can come back another day with a kayak and paddle out and explore the island.

Kualoa Ranch

Approximate time: 15 minutes - 2 hours (depending on activities)

range of mountains with palin grass below

Kualoa Ranch is a 4,000-acre private nature reserve with a working farm and adventure haven.

While here, you can do all sorts of tours and activities including, ATVing, ziplining, kayaking, and horseback riding.

Since we have a jam-packed day, we recommend you make a quick stop at the gift shop, museum, and restrooms for today.

If you’d love to do one of the activities that works too, but we recommend you book in advance.

Go for a quiet beach walk at Kahana Bay, a gorgeous spot without any crowds.

There’s also a public restroom if you need a bathroom break.

Laie Beach Park (also known as Pounders Beach)

Locals call this beach “Pounders Beach” because of the relentless pounding shore break, making it an ideal spot for body surfing and boogie boarding.

Get out and have a look, but we don’t recommend swimming here.

If you’re getting a bit hungry, feel free to skip this spot to make your way to the Polynesian Cultural Center for a snack.

download shaka guide

Polynesian Cultural Center

The Polynesian Cultural Center is one of Oahu’s most visited attractions.

It features island villages that represent six Polynesian islands:

  • Aotearoa (New Zealand)

The center also has a luau, night show, and marketplace. Please note, that a visit to the Polynesian Cultural Center is a full-day excursion. We recommend you stop by to check out the marketplace and come back another day if you’d like to do the activities.

Pro Tip! You’ll be tempted to grab lunch at the food trucks at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Grab a snack but save room for lunch in Kahuku, a spot with dozens of lunch options. Don’t worry, we’ll guide you there.

shore line

Stop for a quick view of a breathtaking sea arch at Laie Point. As waves crash below you’ll see just how this magnificent geologic wonder was formed!

See if you can spot the lizard from the story that the tour describes.

Laie Temple

Approximate time: 5 minutes

On our way to the next stop, we’ll quickly drive by Laie Temple.

No need to get out of the car, just listen as we tell you the story of this site that was designed after King Solomon’s temple described in the bible.

With its gleaming white finish, the temple is dubbed the “Taj Mahal of the Pacific”.

Here you’ll find a visitor center with clean restrooms if you want to make a pit stop.

Kahuku Shrimp Trucks (and Food Trucks)

Known for its shrimp trucks, Kahuku is home to dozens of eateries serving up warm plates of garlic shrimp.

But, shrimp isn’t all you’ll find, look out for pizza, plate lunches, burgers, yogurt, and huli huli chicken -- another local favorite.

Please note: most, if not all of the food trucks in Kahuku are cash only.

Kahuku Fruit Stands

As you’re driving to the North Shore, you’ll pass a few fruit stands along the way.

One of our favorites, Kahuku Fruit Stands, is located just past Turtle Bay Resort.

Stop for some locally grown fruit that’s cut, chilled and ready to eat.

grand circle island tour

Ted’s Bakery

Approximate time: 15 minutes

At this point, you might be thinking to yourself is this a food tour? And, in a way it is!

This tour has some of the best food stops on the island. We hope you saved room for dessert because you won’t want to miss Ted’s Bakery's famous cream pies.

The specialty is their chocolate haupia, but they also have strawberry guava, blueberry, and pineapple macadamia nut, just to name a few!

Sunset Beach

sunset on the beach

Even though this beach is a famous surf spot, as its name suggests, it’s also a great place to watch the sunset.

At this point, it’s probably too early to stay for sunset without skipping all the awesome things that are left to do on the tour, but we recommend you come back another day.

If you’re not staying for sunset, you might want to skip this spot and head to the next beach.

Pro Tip! This beach, as well as all the beaches along the North Shore, has large waves during the winter months of October to April. We recommend watching the surfers from the shore. Swimming is dangerous during this time.

Banzai Pipeline

Officially named Ehukai Beach, Banzai Pipeline is a surfer’s mecca. “Pipeline”, as surfers call it, is known for its quintessential barreling waves that curl like a pipe.

Each winter surfers from all over the world test their might at “pipe” during the annual Billabong Pipeline Masters competition.

Hundreds of people flock to the beach to catch a glimpse of these athletes in action.

Even during the summer months, when waves have calmed and the surfers have relocated, parking is limited.

If you can’t find a spot, look for street parking. We recommend just admiring the surfers at this beach as it’s not safe for swimming, even in summer.

Sharks Cove

Approximate time: 1 hour

Shark’s Cove is a Marine Life Conservation District, known for some of the best snorkeling and diving because of its diversity of sea life just below the water.

If you’ve got kiddos with you, to the left of Shark’s Cove is an area of tidepools, perfect for children to wade through the water and paddle around.

A word of caution for all, the lava rocks here are very sharp.

We recommend wearing water shoes and being extremely careful as you enter and exit the water.

If you need snorkel gear you can rent across the street.

Waimea Valley

Approximate time: 2 hours

This valley features a botanical garden and a one-and-a-half-mile hike to a 45-foot waterfall.

Once you reach the falls, you’ll have the option to swim in the pool below.

This is a great attraction that’s fit for the whole family.

Note: there is an entrance fee to visit Waimea Valley.

Approximate time: 45 minutes

beach in hawaii with white sand and crystal blue water

Waimea Bay is a gorgeous moon-shaped, white-sand beach. During winter, the shore break is fierce and not suitable for casual swimming.

However, when the water is calm, you can jump in the ocean for a dip, snorkel, and, if you’re feeling adventurous, try a 20-foot rock jump.

Note: parking in this area can be difficult at times, especially if the surf is up. If the main parking lot is full, look for street parking or sometimes there is paid parking across the street at Waimea Valley.

Laniakea Beach

Also known as turtle beach, this little beach is a natural feeding ground for honu or sea turtles.

This beach tends to get crowded and parking is extremely limited. If you can’t find a spot, just keep driving down the road to the next stop.

If you do visit the beach, be careful while crossing the road from the small parking area and please be mindful to keep your distance from these protected animals.

Getting too close to sea turtles will result in a large fine.

Haleiwa Town

Haleiwa is a seaside town with a beach, river, mom-and-pop shops, and loads of local eateries.

While you’re here, stop into some of the one-of-a-kind art galleries, shop for unique souvenirs, and grab a bite to eat.

You can also kayak, surf, stand-up paddle board, and even go diving with sharks.

Matsumoto Shave Ice

Dating back to the early 1950’s this dessert spot serves up shaved ice in dozens of flavors!

It’s a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike.

There will most likely be a long line, but don’t let that stop you -- it moves fast.

Dole Plantation

Approximate time: 30-45 minutes

big house facade

The Dole Plantation is a family-friendly spot with several activities, a sprawling gift shop, sweet treats like pineapple soft serve, and the Instagram-famous Dole Whip.

While you’re there you can go on the Pineapple Express -- a train ride through the plantation; weave your way out of a pineapple maze and go on a self-guided garden walking tour.

If you only have time for one activity, we recommend the train ride.

This spot is worth it to shop for a variety of pineapple-flavored treats, from candies to pancake mix.

Note: the activities at Dole Plantation require an entrance fee, but you can visit the gift shop and cafe (for a Dole Whip) without paying an entrance fee.

Drive back to Waikiki

Now that you’ve had your final sweet treat for the day it’s time to make your way back to Waikiki.

The drive will take about 45 minutes (if there’s no traffic) and we’ll tell you the history of the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy and the attack on Pearl Harbor along the way.

Final Thoughts

When you’re in Hawaii, we ask that you act respectfully toward the locals, land, and wildlife.

Edited by: Rekha Rajan Fact checked by: Jamshed V Rajan

Circle Island Day Tour

Oahu Island, the third largest of the Hawaiian Archipelago, is known as “the Gathering Place” and lives up to that name by being one of the world’s premier and most loved attractions.

Home to the city of Honolulu, the island offers a unique world-class collection of attractions that you will be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in the world.

The island offers breathtaking views of pristine beaches, imposing volcanic tuff cones, windswept cliffs, vast botanical gardens, movie locations such as the Jurassic Valley, and lush plantations.

Rugged hikes will take you to waterfalls, surf beaches, cultural centers and culinary experiences, and lead you to lava tubes where massive crystal-clear water geysers erupt.

A lot of these attractions can be covered in circle day tours of the Oahu islands.

One tends to run out of breath when listing the experiences this Pacific island has to offer!

This article covers everything you must know before booking tickets to the Oahu Grand Circle Island Day Tour.

Drive along the perimeter or take a hike to the iconic volcanic crater, the Diamond Head State Monument.

Climb to the lookout point and feel the history of this scenic landscape seep into your bones as you stand at the point where bystanders gathered to watch Amelia Earhart make her first solo journey from Hawaii to North America.

Stand in contemplation at the tranquil Byodo-In Temple, a magnificent replica of a 950-year-old Buddhist temple from Japan, surrounded by a picturesque pond. Take a moment to meditate and connect with the profound spiritual essence and beauty of this monument.

Take a tram to the gorgeous Waimea Valley and bathe in natural waterfall-fed pools.

The Valley is home to a botanical park and ancient Hawaiian archaeological sites.

Sunbathe at the Makapu’u beach and take a hiking trail to Makapu’u Lighthouse for panoramic views that will permeate deep into your heart for all eternity.

Witness the dramatic spectacle of nature’s power at the Halona Blowhole, where waves crash into an underwater lava tube, and water spurts up like a geyser.

The Halona Blowhole is located in a sandpit surrounded by cliffs called the Halona Beach Cove, which offers sumptuous views of the surrounding waters and is immortalized in the movie “From Here to Eternity.”

Gorge on tropical fruits such as pineapples, coconuts, and dragon fruits at the Dole Plantation and Kahuku Farms, or try macadamia nut and delicious Kona coffee tastings at the Macadamia Nut Farm.

Perch yourself at the Nuʻuanu Pali Lookout for wondrous views of Oahu’s Windward Coast and wonder at the duality of things as you realize this beautiful place was the site of the bloodiest battle in Hawaiian history.
