Coffs Harbour Yacht Club
Ratings and reviews, location and contact.
Location was lovely. No menus so had to order off the app. It was very pricey for what you got. The banana bread that was brought out was so skinny, unevenly cut and just had a dollop of butter on top, for $8 something was... way overpriced! I was shocked when the waitress brought it out and I said that seems very small and she rudely said, ‘that’s the size they are’ and walked off. As if that wasn’t off putting enough, there was a staff member that couldn’t stop coughing the whole time we were there! We also had to ask for knives and forks and had to wait nearly 5 mins for them to be brought out so breakfast wasn’t only bland but half cold too! Would not return, rude staff, poor food quality and overpriced. More
Great place to visit & enjoy the views , not to mention the good food. The staff make ypu so welcome especially front of restaurantr Amy!. Always a smile on her face and always not to busy to help you make the choice from the... special board or set menu. But did miss Daud Newick the chef! More
I was remiss at not having been to Yachties before. Stunning location with views to the beach, oceans and jetty. Good variety of menu selections and lots of seafood. Meal sizes are a nice amount for lunch, prices are up there but the quality was... worthy. Great specials menu. Friendly staff. More
Went here for Mother’s Day breakfast. Ugh. My husband was unable to eat the banana bread which was stale and cold. The bacon and eggs I ordered came out fast- but this meal was also cold. Was it precooked and not properly reheated? I’ll never... know, it was awful. The tea was okay… but not the earl grey I ordered - my husbands drink order didn’t show up. The photos online are horribly misleading. There are no tablecloths, the tables are not beautifully laid, the cutlery that is handed to you as you order us old and bent and the Formica tables are chipped and stained. Old old old. Just like the food. Go to the markets instead! More
Our order was very simple, yet they got it wrong and they were so understaffed that it was pointless trying to get them to fix it. We have been here before and loved it, but were left hungry this time. We ordered and paid for... mugs of coffee, we received cups. My breakfast was missing the mushrooms. My daughters breakfast had syrup everywhere when we asked for none. I appreciate that it is hard to get good staff and get them to wear masks, most had them around their chins - I mention this as I got a covid alert from the service nsw app as I checked in to the venue. Just topped off a disappointing experience. Me he’s weren’t wiped down and went from one table to another. Honestly little to no care for patrons in a pandemic. More
Food was delicious and came out quickly. Staff were on the ball with food as it was delivered to the right people despite be being part of a large group that ordered individual meals. Can recommend the duck linguine, although there wasn't a negative comment... about any of the food that was ordered. More
Went here as part of a large group, all ordered individually but meals all came out together and in great time. They had just put on the new winter menu that day and it was hard to choose what to eat! I got the lamb... shank and it was amazing, my friends all loved their meals too. Nothing bad to say, was a lovely dining experience in Coffs :) More
We went for a familiy outing before Christmas. We took Cesar Salad, Prwan linguinine, Beef Salad and another salad on the menu.it was Saturday lunch time. Within 4 hours after the meal we where all so sick that it ruined our day, we live and... come from different places but called each other, we just sent 24h on in the bathroom. I’m a qualified chef so I’m sure this means this place has severe hygiene Problems. A shame. I will ever eat again in there. More
Went for dinner with older family. Told to order with phone and I said we can’t do that as Aunt wanted to pay. We were ignored for over half an hour. Had to go to bar and get own drinks. Tried to attract waitresses attention.... Told, from a distance, we had to order at counter! Prices so expensive yet you can’t get table service. Waitresses were so unfriendly! Terrible!!!! More
Nasty! So disappointing Ordered the fish (snapper) and chips/salad. The meal looked large and nice when it came out. Looks can be deceiving There were two pieces of fish, one was barely edible the other was nasty, like rubber, you could bounce it on the... plate! Yuck! The chips were undercooked and soggy, the salad was ok. So sad that this Coffs icon has gone to the dogs. More
What a great location for breakfast - beautiful views of the beach and ocean. It was a wonderful morning with excellent weather for a breakfast. I enjoyed the Big Brekky (of course who doesn't love a good Australian breakfast) and my wife loved the Eggs... Benedict. Hats off the chef as all parts of the breakfast were beautifully cooked - the bacon was tasty and perfectly cooked, as were the sausages, mushrooms, eggs and hash brown. While much of the Yacht Club is dated and desperately needs attention, the breakfast was really good. Highly recommended for breakfast. More
Ideal spot for lunch with views stretching all the way out to South Solitary island, we ordered the salt and pepper squid which came with a tasty Asian salad, chips and only $23.00.....and the cheesecake portions we’re huge.
We both ordered the big breakfast and it was definitely that! Nice breakfast and friendly staff. Also great view of the ocean and relaxed atmosphere.
Had an absolutely delicious vegetarian burger here - it was the best I’d had in Australia so far - yummy!!
Good selection of meals for non vegetarians but hopeless choice for vegetarians The only selection was pumpkin and feta salad as which was smothered in oil. No choice at all for vegans.

Race is on to win 2024 Pittwater to Coffs Harbour Yacht Race
Over 30 boats will be on the start line for the 2024 Pittwater to Coffs Harbour Yacht Race this Friday when monohulls, a multihull and two-handed entries will share the start line off Barrenjoey Headland for the 1pm start.
Respected sailor, Theresa Michell, has joined forces with Paul Beath and his J/99, Verite, for their first major two-handed race together. Newcomers to the Pittwater Coffs, Beath did the 2023 Rolex Sydney Hobart in two-handed mode with another co-skipper. He and Michell’s first two-handed training session was a four-day return trip from Hobart.
“It was all upwind. Not particularly pleasant,” Beath remembered. “One of the reasons she is doing this race with me is because she sailed with me fully crewed in the Sydney Gold Coast race and the rest of the Blue Water Pointscore last year and we get on well.
“And this race is at a nice time of year,” the Novocastrian said of the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club’s (RPAYC) 226 nautical mile race.
Although she halted racing at the end of the 1990s to raise a family, Michell’s credentials are outstanding in both two-handed and fully-crewed sailing, as a skipper, navigator and crew.
She contested the 5500 nautical mile two-handed Melbourne to Osaka race in 1999 on an Adams 10 that she also skippered in the 1998 Double-Handed Trans-Tasman Challenge from Sydney to New Plymouth in New Zealand. She has sailed on the international scene, done Sydney Hobarts and sailed an Olympic class dinghy.
“This is a new team in a new race and we think it’s a good distance. We’ll get our systems together and get organised,” Beath commented.
“It will be a demanding race because of the currents and fluctuating conditions.”
The pair are expected to be competitive against all-comers, including other two-handed entries such as Chris O’Neill, who returns with Blue Planet after finishing the race seventh overall last year.
“We also won PHS and were second in ORC – and these results were exactly the same in the two-handed division,” he said.
This time he will be co-skippered by Tom Johnston, who helped him to sixth in the two-handed division of the 2023 Sydney Hobart.
“It’s a fun race and a good location in Coffs, it’s not too strenuous and importantly, there’s been sufficient time between this race and the Sydney Hobart – I’ve forgotten all the pain,” O’Neill said wryly.
Among the latest fully crewed entries for the 38 th ‘Pittwater to Coffs’ is David Griffith’s record breaking JV62 Whisper, which will likely battle Geoff Hill’s Santa Cruz 72, Antipodes, for line honours. Whisper is also a favourite for the overall win, but due to the many weather vagaries at this time of year, the race really is wide open in all classifications.
On his quarry, Whisper’s owner says: “With her long waterline length, if Antipodes gets reaching conditions, she is quick, she will take off. We’re in pretty good shape though and the boat’s in perfect order.”
Griffith says his crew will also hold them in good stead. Among them are Rear Admiral Lee Goddard, Michael Coxon, Dougie McGain, Michael Fountain and Brett Van Munster.
“Either way, it’s a wonderful race and the Alfreds do a great job,” Griffith said. “Everyone loves a destination race and Coffs Harbour is a great destination with lots to do.”
Others chasing overall glory are regular DK46 rivals Khaleesi (Sandy Farquharson/Rob Aldis) and LCE Old School Racing (Mark Griffith). At the Nautilus Marine Insurance Sydney Harbour Regatta in early March, the latter placed second in the Open division on home turf, while Griffith’s boat, from RPAYC, was second. Another DK46, Nine Dragons, was declared the winner.
Pierre Gal has entered the Asia catamaran Stealth 12.60 named Fez. The French expat, who lives on the NSW north coast, is a name locally and internationally, competing in the America’s Cup for France and has Australian victories too.
Incidentally, Gal won Division 4 of the 2019 Sydney Gold Coast race with Mistral, the same Lombard 34 that won the 2023 Pittwater Coffs race for two-handed sailors, Rupert Henry and Greg O’Shea last year.

COFFS HARBOUR YACHT CLUB - Updated 2024 Restaurant Reviews, Photos & Phone Number - Tripadvisor
Green Point beach near Yamba littered with debris after abandoned boat runs aground
A remote beach near Yamba on the New South Wales north coast is littered with debris and diesel after a boat ran aground and was smashed to pieces in the surf overnight.
Witnesses said the boat was abandoned by its occupants as they were attempting to cross the Clarence River bar around lunchtime on Monday.
NSW Road and Maritime said the occupants were evacuated from the vessel by a NSW Marine Rescue crew.
Angourie resident Oli Coe said he later saw the vessel adrift about 2 kilometres offshore.
He watched the boat throughout the day and at one point saw another vessel alongside it.
He said someone boarded vessel and put out its anchor.
"As the wind got up through the rest of the afternoon, we watched the boat drifting and dragging on its anchor and eventually it just dragged way too far and ended up on the beach," Mr Coe said.
At one stage Mr Coe and two friends used jetskis to get out to the boat to see if they could do anything to help.
He said he could not understand why it was not salvaged before it ran aground near Green Point.
"There was definitely some damage to the boat but it was in perfectly good condition [before that]," Mr Coe said.
Clean-up concerns
Locals spent Tuesday morning on the beach, dragging piles of debris above the high tide mark in a bid to ensure it is not taken back out to sea with the next high tide on Tuesday evening.
Angourie resident Kim Wood said the usually pristine beach at Green Point looked like a "rubbish dump".
"I'm looking at kilometres of debris," she said.
"There is timber, there is oil cans, jerry cans full of diesel, so much plastic, and everything is soaked in diesel.
"You can still see all debris in the ocean."
Ms Wood said the area was home to a wide range of birdlife including oyster catchers and curlews.
Too dangerous to tow
NSW Maritime said the boat was deemed too dangerous for authorities to board or tow.
Senior boating safety officer Bret Ryan said authorities needed to put safety first.
"Marine Rescue revisited the boat several times on Monday, and eventually the Water Police came from Coffs Harbour," Mr Ryan said.
"They came to the same conclusion that it was too dangerous."
"At that point the vessel was secure and the hope was it would remain in that position but unfortunately that didn't happen."
Mr Ryan said the main hazard on the beach was from any sharp objects that might remain buried in the sand.
