STARFIRE has undergone significant refits, with the most recent in 2023, aligning her with the Owner's preferences while maintaining impeccable standards of craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Notable changes include the addition of a large dining table with 12 chairs on the bridge deck aft, two outdoor couches on either side just aft of the main saloon doors on the main deck aft, and the circular room on the sundeck now being utilized as a massage room instead of an office.

The most recent refit was conducted from February to April 2023, during which the following tasks were completed:

  • 12000-hour service of the main engines.
  • 8000-hour service of the stabilizers.
  • Overhaul of the Hinckley picnic boat engine.
  • Overhaul of the rescue tender crane.
  • Significant paintwork.
  • Installation of new wall panels in guest cabins.
  • Installation of a new Thrane Iridium GMDSS Unit.
  • Addition of two new crew bathrooms in the forward-most cabins.
  • Replacement of four shackles of anchor chain.
  • Overhaul of windlasses.

Spanning 177 feet (54 meters) in length, with a beam of 31.5 feet (9.60 meters), and a draft of 11 feet (3.30 meters), STARFIRE weighs 747 tons and her steel hull and aluminum superstructure enable graceful cruising at 12 knots, with a top speed of 15 knots. At cruise speed, she burns an efficient 81 gallons per hour (307 liters). STARFIRE has undergone significant refits, with the most recent in 2023.

Designed as a true displacement motoryacht, STARFIRE was built for long range, extensive world cruising. These waters included the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, as well as the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Baltic, and Red Seas. STARFIRE has earned a sterling reputation among brokers and guests alike. STARFIRE's spacious layout features beautiful interior woods and multiple decks. Her exceptional interior decoration was designed by the highly acclaimed Francois Zuretti and offers an abundance of accommodation and entertainment areas for the Owner and their guests. The style is predominantly “Art Déco” with a touch of the exotic from the Orient.

Furthermore, STARFIRE boasts an exceptional crew with long-standing tenure, emphasizing the importance of a harmonious onboard atmosphere. The original owner foresaw the challenges of working and living together, leading to the creation of a full-beam Crew Mess divided into two parts: a crew lounge and dining area. Additionally, space was designated for six individual desks for department heads, offering both communal and private areas for crew members to collaborate and focus.

Powered by twin Deutz engines, Starfire has a remarkable range of up to 5,900 nautical miles from its 37,000 gallons (140,000-liters) fuel tanks at cruising speed. Equipped with an advanced stabilization system ensuring guests enjoy unparalleled comfort whether anchored or underway.

Demonstrating a consistent performance over the past five years, with 940 sea days, 387 charter days, and 321 days of owner usage, STARFIRE has successfully traversed the Atlantic, Pacific, Indian Oceans, along with the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Baltic, and Red Seas. Throughout these voyages, STARFIRE has built an exceptional reputation, receiving acclaim from brokers and guests alike. Remarkably, she has upheld an impeccable track record, never failing to fulfill a charter or owner trip.

Without doubt, one of Benetti’s flagship motoryachts, she clearly sets the standards and trends for future vessels. An outstanding opportunity in today’s market that is ideally suited to both private and charter use. Consistently booked for 12 weeks annually, this vessel boasts a proven track record of success in the charter market, affirming its desirability and reliability among charter clients worldwide.

The vessel features a raised semi-circular seating area with a table at the forward section. Amidships, there's a large stack housing a sauna, dayhead, separate shower, and a glass-enclosed massage room. Aft of this area, there are storage lockers and firefighting lockers on both port and starboard sides. A covered exterior marble dining table for eight guests is situated aft of the massage room, accompanied by a full bar and three bar stools to starboard.

Amidships, there's a large Jacuzzi dip-pool with stairs leading down to the boat deck on the port side. A spacious, full-beam movable settee is positioned aft, accompanied by a pop-up 42” TV for watching movies under the stars. Additionally, there are two three-seater couches and two comfortable chairs.

Remarkably, the furniture can be rearranged to convert the area into a large helicopter landing pad with fixing points and removable railings at the aft section. The helicopter tiedowns are currently repurposed as poles for the three-section sun awning.

Forward of the wheelhouse is a second exterior semi-circular seating area with a table, providing a quiet retreat away from the group. Ahead of this seating area is a walkway leading to the foredeck, where two anchor windlasses and a hatch to the anchor locker are located, storing extra fenders and lines. The foredeck also houses a 3,000lbs SWL rescue crane on the port side, two sets of wave runner chocks, and space in the center for a 15ft tender. A bosun’s store is situated in the forward part of the superstructure, along with air-handling units and crew escape hatches.

Moving aft, the wheelhouse features port and starboard bridge wings control stations, with stairs on either side leading down to the main deck. Inside the wheelhouse, there are two leather sofas and a helmsman’s position, along with two desks (port & starboard) and a spacious chart table amidships, serving as ample workstations and the ship’s office for the Chief Officer and Chief Stewardess.

Having dedicated workspaces for the crew sets STARFIRE apart from other yachts in her size range and contributes to crew longevity. The Captain’s cabin, located to starboard, includes a queen-size bed for two crew members, a desk with dual monitors displaying navigational equipment and CCTV cameras.

In the Pilothouse, there are two desks adjacent to each other, one for the Chief Officer and one for the Chief Stewardess

On the port side behind the bridge is the upper pantry, equipped with two refrigerators, a coffee machine, sink, and dishwasher, with an internal crew stairwell leading to the lower pantry. A door aft of the upper pantry leads to the upper foyer, providing access to the VIP Cabin, top deck, main deck foyer, or upper salon.

The VIP queen cabin, known as the "room with the view," is located to starboard and boasts two large windows with blackout shades, a queen-sized bed, a desk, and a small couch under the windows. Its ensuite bathroom features a bathtub and a beautiful stainless steel shell sink.

Adjacent to the VIP cabin, the upper foyer leads to a vast upper deck salon spanning the yacht's full width, featuring a fireplace, spacious seating, and a fully equipped wet bar. Glass sliding doors open to a fully enclosed formal upper dining area with a large table for 10 guests, allowing plenty of natural daylight and offering an option for al-fresco dining.

The upper aft deck is equipped with a davit for storing toys during extensive sea passages and in normal guest operations offers a spacious dining area with a teak table and chairs, accommodating up to twelve. Moreover, a discreetly concealed slide box with a comfortable cushion atop it is present, along with two teak chairs tucked into a cozy nook by the flagpole and storage lockers around the perimeter of the deck. Stairways provide access to the sundeck and lead down to the aft deck on the port side.

Descending from the upper foyer is a comfortable staircase leading to the lower foyer, where you'll find a door to the starboard main deck for greeting guests when docked on the starboard side. Adjacent to the staircase is an elegant dayhead featuring a delicate gold sink.

The Owner’s cabin, situated directly forward of the staircase, boasts a sitting room furnished with two comfortable chairs and a roll-top desk. A 42-inch TV, enclosed in a picture frame, and a wet bar are also provided in this space. Double doors from the sitting room lead to the full-width master cabin, characterized by large oval windows with blackout shades. The master cabin features a California king bed centrally positioned facing forward, with a pop-up TV at the foot of the bed. On the port side, there's a lounging chair with an ottoman, along with a vanity equipped with power outlets. The starboard side offers a chair and dresser for additional garments. Before entering the bathroom on either side, there are two large closets, which can be locked to secure the owner's personal items during charters. The master bathroom spans the full beam, featuring a large bathtub at the centerline and a spacious shower accessible from either side. Her side of the bathroom includes a sink, enclosed lavatory with a bidet, and an escape door to the bosun's locker, while his side features a sink and enclosed lavatory. The ensuite is tastefully designed with honey onyx, gold sinks, and fixtures.

From the main foyer, there is access to the lower pantry and a stairwell leading to the crew mess. The lower pantry is well-equipped with storage cabinets, a sink, ample counter space, dishwasher, fridge, and icemaker. A door from the main pantry leads to the main dining room, situated just forward on the port side. The galley, adjacent to the lower pantry, features an island-style cook space with an induction top and two ovens. With two sinks and generous space, it accommodates two chefs working simultaneously. Three large fridges and one smaller deep produce fridge provide ample storage, and a large window and desk enhance the workspace for the culinary team.

Moving aft from the main deck guest entrance lobby, you'll find the formal dining room, adorned with a marble circular table for 12 guests and a pre-Lalique chandelier. Surrounding the room are cabinets made of cherry and Lacewood for storage and marble countertops for service. The formal dining room connects, via beautifully-etched pocket glass doors, to the main salon, featuring a full wet bar aft to port. Seating includes two three-person couches forward and aft, two chairs starboard, and two comfortable chairs with ottomans on the port side. A 50-inch pop-up TV is located on the starboard side. The overheads are a stacked beige pattern, and the floors are a stained wood with an Asian rug. A marble stairway to starboard leads down to the guest cabins, while sliding glass doors open from white marble to a covered teak aft deck with seating for up to 14 guests at the dining table, which can be converted into a low coffee table. Aft of the sliding doors, countertops and storage lockers are situated on both port and starboard sides. The walkaround decks provide access to cleaning and fire lockers. Fueling can be done from the main deck at three locations: port, starboard, or aft. An open staircase to port leads down to the swimming platform/lazarette with a stern folding door, and a stairwell leads to the bridge deck aft.

The swim deck boasts a large hydraulic stern door that folds down effortlessly and turns into a swim platform. Ample storage can be found in the aft cupboards, along with a convenient day head and shower. On the starboard side of the platform, an open shower provides the perfect spot for rinsing off salt before heading indoors. This deck offers plenty of space for sunbathing or facilitating the loading and unloading of guests from the Tender.

Descending from the main deck salon down the guest stairs reveals a spacious foyer. Equipped with a small fridge and countertop, this area is ideal for serving coffee and morning bites. The two aft cabins on this level are identical, each featuring queen beds, a day couch, and a desk. Marble showers and sinks add a touch of luxury to the bathrooms, while ample closet and drawer space ensure convenience. The forward two cabins are furnished with twin beds and one fold-down pullman in each room. These cabins also feature small desks and bathrooms with marble showers and sinks. Large portlights offer stunning ocean views, and 30-inch TVs provide entertainment in all four rooms.

Taking the stairway from the main pantry leads to the crew mess and lounge, a remarkable space for a 54m yacht. The crew enjoys a spacious dining area accommodating up to 14 crew members, complete with its own microwave, stove, oven, and dishwasher. Additionally, there's a comfortable sitting area on the port side where seven crew members can relax on the couch and watch TV. The two spaces are separated by cabinetry and storage, with large portlights and CCTV monitors enhancing functionality. This setup contributes to STARFIRE's excellent crew longevity, providing ample space for the crew to spread out and unwind.

All crew accommodation is situated forward, featuring five double bunk bed cabins and a chief engineer’s cabin with twin beds and a pullman bunk. The Chief Officer's cabin is equipped with a large desk and workspace. At the end of the crew hallway, an escape hatch leads to the foredeck, while a storage area and access to the bow thruster compartment can be found under the forward crew stairs.

Descending one deck lower to the tank deck reveals a large drink fridge, walk-in fridge, freezer, and dry storage pantry. The ship’s laundry facility is equipped with three Miele washers, three dryers, ample counter space, and a Laurastar ironing board.

Direct access from the crew stairs leads to the engine room via the sound-shielded control room. The control room provides space for two engineers and a well-appointed desk workstation. The engine room itself is exceptionally spacious and thoughtfully laid out and had a full repaint in 2024.

Starfire Enquiry

Martha -The charter was incredible. It was better than I had expected. The crew was amazing, they were willing to do whatever they could to help us out. We didn’t have any luck fishing, but that wasn’t a big deal. My brother and I are talking about trying to book the Starship for a family trip with his family and mine. So I will let you know when we find some dates that may work. Thanks again for all of the help! B. MY STARFIRE / April 23rd -27th / Bahamas

Captain Carl was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1974. He has one brother, Ryan, who is a 200 Ton Captain. His father, Ted, is also a Sea Captain; one family, three men of the sea, and over 550,000 nautical miles of combined experience. StarFire’s Captain, spent a portion of his childhood on Water Island in the United States Virgin Islands, alternating with time spent in Indianapolis, Indiana. His recreational life was focused on water sports. He is a competitive water and jet skier, a certified water ski instructor, and a certified rescue scuba diver. Captain Carl's other interests include all types of snow sports and flying helicopters. In 2004, he completed the hours for his private helicopter license — a hobby that gives him as much joy as driving yachts. After graduating from North Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1993, he went to work in the yachting industry and became the Captain of a mega yacht at the age of 22. Three mega yachts later, Carl became the Captain of the prestigious M/YStarFire. Captain Carl holds a 1600 Ton United States’ Coast Guard License with a 3000 Ton British License. He is certified in Advanced Radar, Shipboard Fire Fighting, and STCW trained. He also completed a six month Emergency Medical Technician course, which gives him the knowledge to handle a variety of ship health emergencies. His medical expertise expanded with a MedAire Advanced Medical Certification. Captain Carl was the individual winner as “Best Captain of a Mega Yacht in 2001” at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show. This accolade was given for his ability to be a “can do” positive leader. StarFire’s Captain takes special pride in imparting his knowledge and love of the sea. In an effort to share his passion with others, he set up “The Captain Carl Sputh Seafaring Scholarship” at his Indianapolis high school alma mater, North Central. Each year, five fortunate students are sponsored to attend a sailing school course aboard the restored A.J. Meerwald Tall Ship in South New Jersey’s Delaware Bay. The scholarship recipients receive full tuition, all travel expenses-paid, $100-a-day spending money — and this year, even foul weather gear donated by the outdoor sportswear company, Patagonia. Captain Carl enjoys the possibility that the experience may introduce some of these students to an entirely new career path they might not otherwise have discovered (in landlocked Indiana, that is!). Captain Carl’s motto for yachting is that “there are no problems…only solutions , ” and he governs himself and his crew accordingly.

Richard Fuher

Richard (Rich) grew up in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and alas, his position as 1st Officer on M/Y StarFire is not exactly typical of someone who grew up surrounded by snow-peaked mountains and 3 million acres of national forests! An avid snow skier since youth, Rich’s all-around love of the outdoors ultimately led him to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in 1993. Rich spent his undergraduate years at the Merchant Marine Academy not only gaining his knowledge of marine engineering and navigation, but also participating as a Varsity member and Fleet Captain of the Offshore Sailing Team. He still enjoys racing sailboats in his leisure time. After logging 130,000 nautical miles in deck and engine cadet positions on unlimited tonnage cargo ships, Rich eventually found his way to the yachting industry in 1995. He has since worked on many high-profile sailing and motor yachts, not only in First Mate and Engineer positions, but also as a Captain. With many impressive marine licenses and certifications under his belt—among them a U.S.C.G. 1600-Ton Inland Master, a U.S.C.G. 100-Ton Upon Oceans Master, and a Cayman Islands 3000-Ton Mate license—Rich’s sailing experiences have taken him all over the world. From South American to Alaska, Egypt to Singapore, and throughout the Caribbean and the Eastern shores of the U.S., Rich has certainly made the most of his career at sea.

Mark Scurrah

Mark was born in Bradford, England. He began his yachting career in February 1984 and spent two years “testing the waters” of a career path in yachting by taking on various engineering positions aboard megayachts. With travel being one of his great passions, Mark then took several years to explore various jobs around Europe, including a year handling maintenance in 153 villas on the island of Corfu, Greece. Mark accepted engineering positions doing yacht delivery and refit work—including a sailing yacht refit in Auckland, New Zealand— and spent two busy charter seasons in the Mediterranean before he decided to take an extended holiday to travel Australia by camper van 1n 1993. After this adventure, Mark pursued his Class IV marine engineering certificate in 1994 while he simultaneously took on various relief work engineering positions until his studies were complete. In 2000, Mark began his Y2 Chief Engineering ticket studies and over the next four years he completed this training while remaining steadily busy doing delivery and refit work in such places as Israel, the Adriatic Sea, and the U.S. Mark successfully completed his Y2 Engineering certificate in 2004 and came to take on Starfire’s state-of- the-art engines in summer 2005.

Purser Mika Harrisz

M/Y StarFire’s Chief Stewardess and Purser, Mika, was born and raised in South Africa until the age of 19 when she headed off to England to pursue work in the restaurant industry. After a year traveling around Europe in 2000, she “bumped into” the yachting industry in the South of France, and she took a job as a Stewardess aboard a high-profile charter yacht. Believe it or not, that yacht was M/Y StarFire in a past life (when the vessel was known as M/Y Ambrosia, before undergoing refits in 2002 and 2004). This job took Mika to Asia, and she got to experience a crossing from Hong Kong to France via Singapore and the Suez Canal. Mika went on to work on Four other high-profile yachts, both private and charter, and was able to sail extensively throughout the Mediterranean and Caribbean. As a five-year veteran in the industry, Mika says she still can’t get enough of life aboard yachts, and out of all the vessels she’s been employed by, M/Y StarFire has and will always be her favorite boat of all. Mika’s additional training includes Medic First Aid Aboard Ship training, floral arranging, and basic sea survival. She is also a PADI Advanced certified open water diver. Her professionalism and ability to impart her special style of hospitality will make all who enter StarFire’s inner sanctum feel the comforts and warmth of home.

Ryan was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. He spent his early childhood on Water Island in the United States Virgin Islands where he began his boating career. His love of water continued on the many lakes and reservoirs of Indiana. Ryan has made numerous motor yacht and sailboat deliveries throughout the Caribbean, crossed the Atlantic three times, and attained his 200 Ton Captain’s license. He is an accomplished knee boarder, a certified scuba diver, and loves to ride his Harley. He is STCW certified with Marine Firefighting endorsements. Ryan began working with his brother Carl on mega yachts when he was 19 years old and continues this tradition on M/Y StarFire. Ryan has placed emphasis on the security aspect of yachts throughout his career. He has taken courses in Maritime Security, Tactical Training, and Anti-terrorism. He extends this security and safety training with MedAire Basic and Advanced Medical certifications. In November of 2001, Ryan helped to bring a mega yacht Crew to the pinnacle of success by being awarded the “Distinguished Crew Service Award.” This award was given for “quick thinking and swift action” taken when an adjacent vessel caught fire. For the ladies who need a dance partner, Ryan is also an expert swing dancer. Apparently, he has the rhythm of the sea in his feet as well as in his soul.

Wim Goethals

Chef Wim Goethals comes to us from Belgium. He has been a professional Chef for eight years, four of which have been spent in the yachting industry. Since taking his culinary skills to sea, Wim has worked on a variety of high-profile yachts, both private and charter. Wim relishes in creating culinary masterpieces for the most discerning of palates, using what is available to him locally. His yachting career has allowed him the opportunity to study the local cuisine of many international destinations, including France, Italy, Thailand, India, and the Seychelles. Some of his specialties include French gastronomical cuisine, Asian cuisine, vegetarian and vegan dishes, Japanese cuisine, ice creams, and sorbets. In addition to his wide array of culinary skills, Wim is also a master of many languages: he speaks Dutch, English, French, and conversational German. When not in the galley, Wim can usually be found diving (he is PADI certified), mountain biking, bush trekking, or cooking for his friends!

Stephen Fowler

Stephen hails from the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, Australia . Stephen knew he wanted a career in engineering very early on in life. At the age of only 18, he entered the Moreton Institute of TAFE (a technical institute) in Brisbane where he earned his Certificate III in Electrician Engineering. During his years in school, Stephen also held a four-year apprenticeship as a marine and auto electrician with Benson and Brown Marine Electrics in Airlie Beach, Australia. Stephen’s years pursuing his studies in Australia also left him time to pursue another of his passions: sailing. As an Olympic Sailing Campaigner, Stephen competed in various National Title competitions on the Australian circuit and in the International pre-Olympic series. He also competed in the 1998 Hobbie Cat World Title in Australia. Unfortunately, Australia can only select one team to represent the country in the Olympics, and Stephen fell just short of qualifying with a 2nd place finish one year, and a 3 rd place finish another. From 2000-2002, Stephen worked as the Head Electrician at the Hamilton Island Boatyard in the Great Barrier Reef of Australia where he gained experience servicing and repairing a fleet of charter boats. It was in 2002 when Stephen took his first full-time crew position working as an engineer aboard a heavily chartered motor yacht. He made his way to M/Y Starfire in the summer of 2005.

Amy was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has had an addictive itch for traveling since she was young and— along with her twin sister, brother and parents— started with the United States. When Amy graduated from high school, she expanded her travels to Europe. During college, she and her sister studied for a summer in Spain and then backpacked across Europe once again. Since then she has had a deepened love for traveling. Upon graduating from Ball State University in 2003 with a degree in Public Relations and a double minor in Travel/Tourism and Spanish, her passion for traveling led her to the yachting industry. Since being in the industry, Amy has been to Croatia, Greece, France and Italy and now the Caribbean. Amy loves meeting new people and going to new places, she hopes to continue doing that while adding more stamps to her passport!

Jemma Somerville-Smith

Jemma was raised in New Zealand. Her sailing experience began at a young age, living aboard a 50 ft. ketch, ‘Argonauta II,’ and cruising the Pacific Islands for three years from the age of 4 to 7- years. Her family later owned a 36 ft. Lidgard sloop ‘Aparangi’ on which she participated in family sailing and racing. When back home in New Zealand, Jemma has joined teams competing in the Marlborough twilight summer racing series. Jemma began working in the luxury yachting industry in June 2003, but not before earning a Bachelor’s of Design Degree in Interior Architecture from Christchurch Polytechnic. Her experiences prior to yachting also included working as a head dental assistant for four years…But when the Sea finally called, Jemma took a position as a Stewardess on a luxury charter yacht cruising the Med, the Caribbean, and the East Coast U.S., and she has remained in yachting every since. After working on several different high-profile mega yachts, both private and charter, Jemma made her way to her M/Y StarFire home earlier this year. In her spare time, Jemma enjoys travel, sailing, the arts, sports, and cooking. She also recently received her Seafarer Medical Certificate. Photography is another of Jemma’s passions, and she has even taken courses to study the craft.

History of Udmurtia

According to archaeological sites, the first people began to settle on the territory of present Udmurtia in the Mesolithic Age (7-10 thousand years ago). In the subsequent archaeological epochs, in the western Urals, the processes of differentiation of the ancient Finno-Ugric population took place. Later, about one thousand years ago, the Udmurt ethnos formed.

In the 10th century, significant impact on the ancient Udmurts was their inclusion in the Volga Bulgaria state. Since the 13th century, the southern Udmurts were under the influence of the Golden Horde, and then - the Kazan Khanate. The largest handicraft, cult and administrative center of the northern Udmurts, who remained independent during the Middle Ages, was Idnakar.

In the 12th-13th centuries, the first Russian settlements appeared on the Vyatka River. By the 15th century, the northern Udmurts were included in the Grand Duchy of Moscow. In 1552, after Moscow conquered the Kazan Khanate, the northern and southern Udmurts found themselves within the borders of one state.

More Historical Facts…

In the 17th-18th centuries, the development of this territory began, the first enterprises were built, metallurgy and production of weapons were the most developed industries. Since 1731, the mass conversion of the Udmurts to Christianity began.

Until the middle of the 18th century, the population of Udmurtia was engaged mainly in agriculture and crafts. In the late 1750s and early 1760s, the largest industrial enterprises - Izhevsk and Votkinsk plants were built. In 1774-1775, the Udmurts took part in the peasant war led by Emelian Pugachev.

In the second half of the 19th century, there was a rapid development of industrial production, new factories, schools, gymnasiums were opened. In 1889, in the south of the territory of present Udmurtia, the first railways were built. The railways played an important role in the economic development of the region. In the 18th - early 20th centuries, the Udmurt lands were part of the Vyatka province.

On November 4, 1920, Votskaya Autonomous Oblast was formed. In 1921, Izhevsk became the capital city of the region. On January 1, 1932, it was renamed into Udmurt Autonomous Oblast. On December 28, 1934, it became the Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. During the Second World War, dozens of industrial enterprises from Kiev, Kharkov, Baku, Odessa, Podolsk and other cities were evacuated to Udmurtia.

On November 4, 1990, the Supreme Soviet of the Udmurt ASSR proclaimed the sovereignty of the republic, the region received a new name - the Udmurt Republic or simply Udmurtia. The collapse of the USSR caused a deep crisis in the economy of Udmurtia, which especially struck the engineering industry focused on military production.

Today, the status of the national republic and the defense orientation of the region’s industry largely determine the socio-economic and cultural identity of the Republic of Udmurtia.
