Kendall Jenner, Harry Styles Fuel Romance Rumors, Soak Up the Sun on a Yacht: Pictures

The model, 20, and the One Direction singer, 21, looked cozy as they soaked up the sun. Jenner showed off her runway-ready body in a bikini, while Styles shielded his shirtless torso under a towel.

Earlier in the week, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was spotted dining with the boy-bander in Anguilla. The duo, who were first linked back in 2013, hit up a restaurant together on Tuesday, December 29.

A source tells Us Weekly the exes are “hooking up again” now that Styles — who also dated Jenner pal Taylor Swift — has some time off from 1D. Adds another insider: “Now that he has a little hiatus and is on vacation, this is him trying to win her back, and it appears to be working.”

The second source notes that while Styles was the one to call it quits back in 2014, he was drawn back after seeing her in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. “All of his friends were saying how hot and amazing she looked,” the source tells Us.

In any case, both seem to be enjoying the R&R — and Jenner in particular could use it. In a recent post on her app and website, she revealed that she was recently hospitalized for exhaustion, and that she was making a conscious effort to relax in the new year.

Nov. 20, 2013: Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner have a date night in West Hollywood

In 2013, following his split from Taylor Swift earlier in the year, the pair shared dinner at Craig's restaurant in West Hollywood and were photographed leaving the restaurant in Styles' car. The meeting sparked rumors of romance that both parties were quick to deny. "They're just friends," a source told PEOPLE at the time, while Kendall assured everyone on Twitter that she was, indeed, single.

Flash forward to Dec. 1, 2014, when the pair hung with pal Cara Delevingne (pictured above) at the British Fashion Awards at the London Coliseum, again sparking rumors of a romance.

Jan. 1, 2014: Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner go skiing together

On New Year's Day in 2014, Styles and Jenner were spotted skiing and snowboarding in Mammoth, California. According to reports, the duo stayed in a house with a group of friends, though they appeared to be coupled up. A source told PEOPLE of the excursion, "Kendall snowboarded and Harry skied. They were very cute together. There was a lot of flirting and smiling going on." They also said, "Harry was a gentleman and even offered to carry Kendall's snowboard to the ski lift." Dec. 29, 2015: Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner go on a Caribbean vacation to celebrate the New Year

Styles and Jenner ushered in another new year together two years later when they vacationed in Anguilla in the Eastern Caribbean. The pair were spotted by fans at a restaurant on Dec. 29, 2016, and later seen getting cozy on a yacht . A source told PEOPLE, "There has been a lot of flirting, touching and snuggling going on. They have acted like a couple. They look very cozy and happy."

They continued their vacation when they boarded Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's yacht in St. Barts on Jan. 2, 2016. A source told PEOPLE that "things never got serious" between the two when they first met, adding, "He has thought all along that Kendall is hot and was sort of just waiting for a chance to spend more time with her again."

The source also said of the trip, "New Year's worked out perfect, and [Harry] loved it."

Jan. 7, 2016: Khloé Kardashian says Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner are dating

Gotta love when big sisters blow up your spot! Khloé Kardashian said she thought the pair were dating, telling Entertainment Tonight , "They were hanging out together. Do I think they're dating? Yes. I don't know if they're like boyfriend-girlfriend. Nowadays, I don't know, people are weird with stuff. So I don't know their 'title,'" she said, using air quotes. "But I mean, they were in St. Barts together hanging out, so to me that's dating. I would call that dating."

She added that she wasn't sure if they had defined the relationship admitting, "I don't know if they've had that talk yet."

Jan. 23, 2016: Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner attend the same party in West Hollywood

Jenner and Styles attended a private party celebrating music agent Jeff Azoff's birthday at the Troubadour rock club in West Hollywood, California, on Jan. 23, 2016. Jenner's mom, Kris Jenner , and Styles' stepdad Robin Twist were also in attendance.

According to E! News , the Jenners arrived at the club about an hour after Styles and spent another hour inside before leaving. Styles reportedly left the venue later in the night.

April 8, 2016: Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner may have been spotted shopping together in L.A.

A fan claimed on Twitter that Jenner and Styles were seen shopping in Los Angeles together with a group of friends. However, the sighting came just weeks after PEOPLE confirmed Jenner was dating Lakers player Jordan Clarkson and had been for months.

Sept. 1, 2016: Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner have dinner in L.A.

Styles and Jenner were spotted on a date in L.A. on Sept. 1, 2016, with an onlooker saying Jenner was "beaming all night." A source told PEOPLE exclusively the following week that, after getting cozy over the holidays, the pair were "rekindling their old romance," and Jenner was "so excited and happy about it." The source added, "She's always cared about Harry."

September 2016: Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner are "not officially back together"

Styles and Jenner were rumored to be giving romance another try, but the two were taking things slow according to a source.

The source also said Styles and Jenner were "not officially back together" but were "continuing to talk and see where things go."

Jenner remained "hopeful" about her rekindled relationship with Styles but was also "being more careful this time," added the source.

"He's not going to settle down, and she understands that's just the way he is," said the source. "She really likes him, but her heart's not as invested."

Nov. 2, 2016: Harry Styles attends Kendall Jenner's 21st birthday party

Three of Jenner's rumored love interests showed up for her 21st birthday bash at L.A. hotspot Delilah, and Styles was among those in attendance at the star-studded affair. The guest list also included NBA player Clarkson and rapper Travis Scott (though Scott would begin a relationship with Jenner's younger sister Kylie Jenner just months later).

A source told PEOPLE Jenner wasn't with any particular guy and spent equal time with each of them.

"She worked the room and spent a lot of time with Travis in the beginning, then went to Harry for a while," said the insider.

April 18, 2017: Harry Styles hints that his debut album was inspired by Kendall Jenner

In 2017, the "Adore You" singer had fans buzzing when he seemed to allude to his relationship with Kendall in a Rolling Stone article . While talking about his debut, eponymous album of the same year, he mentioned the woman that inspired him. "She's a huge part of the album," he told the magazine. "Sometimes you want to tip the hat, and sometimes you just want to give them the whole cap … and hope they know it's just for them." Could it be that the songs on the album were about Jenner?

May 6, 2019: Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner reunite at the Met Gala

It's not uncommon for celebrities to reunite at fashion's biggest night , but a picture was worth a thousand words when Kendall and Harry were spotted having a conversation inside the event in May 2019. The pair didn't end the night there. In fact, they didn't end the night at all — they joined some other pals and kept the party going well into the next morning, and were spotted leaving an afterparty around 6 a.m.

At the time, a source told PEOPLE that they weren't an item and confirmed that Kendall was still seeing her then-boyfriend, Philadelphia 76ers player Ben Simmons .

The source said of Harry and Kendall, "Harry was her first real relationship, so there is a lot of history there," adding, "but they're just friends."

Dec. 10, 2019: Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner spill their secrets on The Late Late Show

Fans were sent into a tizzy when the pair hung out on camera as Styles filled in for Corden on The Late Late Show and played the ever-so-enlightening game , "Fill Your Guts or Spill Your Guts." The easy chemistry between the two had many wondering if they were still an item or simply really great friends post-relationship.

At one point in the game, after reading the question to herself and admitting, "I'm dying to know this," Jenner asked, "Which songs on your last album were about me?" The audience cheered, but Styles chose to eat cod sperm rather than admit which tracks could be about the TV personality.

Nov. 14, 2022: Kendall Jenner attends Harry Styles' concert in L.A.

Jenner was seen enjoying a night out at Styles' concert with her sister Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber . The women were spotted smiling and dancing to Styles' music from the stands in videos shared on social media by concertgoers.

They're undisputedly two of the most beautiful people in the world, and frequently run in the same A-list Hollywood circles, so it makes total sense that Kendall Jenner and Harry Styles were a thing, even if their relationship was short-lived. 

As Grazia notes, the supermodel and former One Direction star were first linked back in 2013 and their initial dalliance was actually the beginning of Styles being linked with several Victoria's Secret Angels, including Sara Sampaio and Georgia Fowler. 

In the years since their romantic relationship ended, Jenner and Styles have remained close friends, memorably crossing paths at the 2019 Met Gala and even hosting a glamorous after party together. As Page Six reported, the fiesta was totally spontaneous, with an insider admitting, "The party came together very last minute. This was expected to be Harry and Kendall and a few close friends, but it became a huge group of A-listers." And evidently, there's still love between these two.

The duo stepped out in public together again at the British Fashion Awards in London in December 2014, following it up with a New Year's vacation in Mammoth, California. An eyewitness described them as "very cute" and confirmed there was "a lot of flirting" going on. 

A couple years later, model Kendall Jenner and former boybander Harry Styles were snapped taking a vacation together, snuggling up on a yacht, and enjoying more intimate date nights. Yes," Khloe told Entertainment Tonight  Kevin Frazier at the time. "I don't know if they're like boyfriend-girlfriend. Nowadays I don't know. People are weird with stuff. So, I don't know their title. But I mean, they were in St. Barts together hanging out, so to me that's dating."

Styles himself also seemed to hint at Jenner being the inspiration behind his 2017 debut album during a Rolling Stone interview, stating, "She's a huge part of the album," but by the release of the project, the relationship was already over. The former couple reunited twice in 2019, first at the Met Gala and then while appearing on "The Late Late Show with James Corden," per Entertainment Weekly . 

That same year, a source confirmed to Us Weekly that the two remained on excellent terms, noting, "Harry and Kendall are great friends and always have been." Although both of them remain super busy, so they don't hang out that often, the insider revealed, "When they do, they always have a blast. It's an easy, super chill friendship." 

As Glamour magazine notes, in 2021, Kris Jenner finally confirmed once and for all the duo had indeed been an item, during a virtual appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" – as if we didn't already know.

Now that's a midnight toast we'd like to see. Where's the long-lens paparazzi when you really need them? (Just kidding, invasion of privacy is bad but witnessing Kendall, Harry, Kris Jenner, and Anne Twist ring in the New Year would be so, so good.)

Kendall Jenner and Harry Styles have been pictured sharing an intimate embrace ahead of the New Year's celebrations this week.

The pair were snapped kissing and cuddling as they struggled to keep their hands off each other on a sun lounger, smashing rumours once and for all that they're just good friends.

Rumours of a romantic reconciliation between them went into overdrive just days ago after a video emerged of the pair getting very cosy over dinner.

Now the new snaps have sent fans into meltdown, as a bikini-clad Kendall lies over Harry and they appear to share a lengthy kiss.

Kendall and Harry - who were first romantically linked back in 2013 - are holidaying with pals on Caribbean island of Anguilla.

Kendall was snapped in a skimpy bikini and sunglasses, wearing her hair up in a messy ponytail and appearing relaxed and happy as she lounged next to the One Direction singer.

Meanwhile Harry wore loose white swim shorts, and tied his own hair back for the outing.

They weren't alone however, as Harry invited his mum along too - so it must be getting serious.

Anne shared a photo on what appears to be the same luxury yacht last night, signalling they all could have remained onboard for the New Year's Eve celebrations.

It is thought the pair rang in the New Year together on the yacht, and they were certainly in the mood for celebrating.

Fans noticed as well as the pair being overly tactile, they appeared to only have eyes for each other and were seen locked deep in conversation.

While some fans celebrated the happy couple, others were heartbroken.

One devastated fan wrote: "Those pics of Harry and Kendall need to find the exit sign and leave my timeline."

Another wept: "THESE HARRY AND KENDALL PHOTOS ARE RUINING MY NEW YEAR.

The pair first sparked romance rumours in 2013 when they were snapped on a dinner date in Hollywood.

The close friendship ran right through to 2014, as they were eventually pictured on the sliopes together - but whikle they appeared closer than ever, they never confirmed the romance.

After years of speculation, fans shipping Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner were finally given a glimmer of confirmation about their intimate connection, thanks to their joint appearance on  The Late Late Show with James Corden  in December 2019. As Styles guest-hosted the show, he essentially went on yet another dinner date with Jenner via a round of " Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts ." 

In the game, Styles and Jenner took turns asking one another questions, and they either had to answer or eat a disgusting food item, such as bug trifle or 1,000 year-old eggnog. When Jenner's turn came around, she smugly asked Styles which of his songs were about her. Styles looked mortified as he covered his face with his hands, tucked a napkin in his shirt, and opted to eat some cod sperm. Though we didn't get any direct answers, it's safe to assume there's something there or he would have just said that none of his songs were about his gal pal, right? 

Judging by the adorable chemistry between these two, there's something special there, and that dynamic didn't subside in 2020. In fact, in the midst of worldwide social distancing, these two were allegedly spotted hanging out in Los Angeles in April 2020. According to Harper's Bazaar , they "went for a leisurely drive together" — as in Jenner drove a convertible and "someone who appeared to be Styles rode next to her on a motorcycle." Coincidence? You be the judge.

Never Forget Harry Styles and Kendall Jenner’s PDA-Filled Yacht Vacation

There’s a reason why Kendall Jenner and Harry Styles ‘ joint appearance on  The Late Late Show went so swimmingly. 

The singer filled in for  James Corden as a guest host on Tuesday’s episode, during which he and the  Keeping Up With the Kardashians  star played Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts . During the segment, Kendall agreed to rank her siblings according to their parenting skills, while Harry opted to consume cod sperm  rather than answer her question of which songs on his last album are about her.

Kendall, 24, and Harry, 25, go way back and have occasionally sparked dating rumors on and off since 2013. Over the New Year’s holiday in 2016, the two got cozy on a luxury yacht while vacationing together  in St. Barts. The two were also joined by Ellen DeGeneres  and wife  Portia De Rossi .

“Why are they a good match? Well, they’re both super hot, super great, sweet people,” Kendall’s sister Khloe Kardashian later told E! News . “And if I’m on a yacht in St. Barts if I’m—how old is she, 20? He’s 20?—hey, I ain’t mad at you, Kenny. Do your thing, girl!”

In January 2018, Kendall attended Harry’s concert in Los Angeles with friends and was spotted dancing and giving him a standing ovation .

Amid the fairytale princess gowns, chandeliers and sparkles of the  2019 Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala , a true moment appeared to unfold between Kendall Jenner and Harry Styles.

In an adorable photo taken inside the star-studded event, Jenner beamed out a giant smile while being reunited with the One Direction heartthrob, who was serving as co-chair of this year's gala.

Styles, 25, looked just as thrilled to see the model and reality star in her orange feathered gown, grinning and placing his hand on her waist as the two caught up.

Jenner, 23, was attending the event with her famous family, including sister Kylie , who also wore a feather ensemble, while Styles rocked a sheer black Gucci top, high-waisted pants and a pearl teardop earring.

The pair have sparked dating rumors on and off since 2013, when they were spotted driving away together after a visit to West Hollywood hot spot, Craig’s.

In 2015, they were snapped getting cozy on a yacht during a sun-filled vacation in St. Barts, and the following year a source described the pair as being “super touchy feely ” during a lunch date in Los Angeles.

Following the lunch, another source said there was nothing romantic going on between the pair. “Nothing was ever going on with them. They hang out a lot,” the source said.

Jenner was also seen cheering on Styles at the final show of his Harry Styles: Live on Tour world trek in Inglewood, California, last June.

Kendall Jenner and Harry Styles became extra familiar with each other on a luxury yacht in St. Barts.

The two were spotted Wednesday getting handsy after reports surfaced they'd been vacationing together in Anguilla the night before.

It's unclear if the two are "officially official" but judging by the pics, the 20-year-old supermodel and 21-year old pop star certainly have no problem packing on the PDA.

Serious Question: Why Are We Obsessed With Yacht PDA?

After Aperol Spritzing through Tuscany, Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde surfaced on a yacht this week. They kissed; they nuzzled; they possibly danced (or, alternate theory, simply clung to each other for balance). The couple, who met on the set of Wilde’s second directorial effort, Don’t Worry, Darling , even left their big boat so that an artfully mustachioed Styles could captain a smaller vessel through glittering Mediterranean waters. In my estimation, the Styles fandom lost at least a full afternoon’s worth of productivity to a forensic examination of this photo set. All I could think, to quote Courteney Cox in Scream 2 , was: It’s happening again .

After all, it’s July, also known as yacht season, an annual micro-season within summer in which super-celebrities and moguls embark on luxe floating vacations, often with sparkling, sexual overtones. Styles and Wilde join a long, storied tradition (one well documented on many episodes of The Ringer’s Jam Session podcast ) that includes Styles himself and Kendall Jenner, along with both of their mothers, off the coast of St. Barts in 2016. Beyoncé has been known to yacht dive from great heights (once from an aptly titled rental yacht named the Halo) on yachting jaunts with Jay-Z to Capri and Croatia. In 2019, Timothée Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp ardently made out aboard a yacht off Capri, as Italy is the unofficial global epicenter of yacht season. After two terms in the White House, Barack and Michelle Obama decamped to David Geffen’s superyacht , the Rising Sun (or as he prefers, “R.S.”) in Tahiti, which is how we’d all decompress after eight years of Mitch McConnell if we could. 

It must be said that while the appetite and voyeurism for yacht-season photo evidence is strong, there are also persistent ethical questions about breaches of privacy. Yachts are at once one of the only places celebrities can be entirely alone—save for the prying eyes of long-lens paparazzi. And yet couples sunning and smooching are often accused of doing it for publicity, a murmur that Chalamet, for one, denied. In an interview with GQ , he recalled “waking up to all these pictures, and feeling embarrassed, and looking like a real nob .... And then people are like, ‘This is a P.R. stunt.’ A P.R. stunt ?! Do you think I’d want to look like that in front of all of you ?!”

There is something endlessly fascinating about yacht PDA, as well as platonic group yacht vacays (see: Oprah and Gayle King aboard the R.S. , on which Geffen notoriously quarantined) . Much of modern celebrity culture, from the aughties zenith of Us Weekly to the present, is predicated on a kind of imagined relatability. Stars—at least occasionally—are like us. They go to Starbucks, sometimes wearing Juicy jumpsuits. They walk their dogs. But most spectators will never find themselves lolling starboard, à la Styles and Wilde, on a yacht near Monte Argentario. It’s like glimpsing a Gatsby party from the other side of the Long Island Sound—not easy to look away. Of course, yacht-watching can border on grotesque. Amazon employees had to fight hard for their $15-per-hour rate; meanwhile, Jeff Bezos’s $500 million superyacht comes with a support yacht complete with its own helipad.

With the rise of Bennifer 2.0 , I can’t not think about the scenes from the now vintage “Jenny From the Block” video in which Affleck, in all of his pompadoured glory, caresses Lopez’s bikini bottom sur la mer . It was a bit of celebrity satire—a nod from two celebrities who never fail to feed the beast. In the spirit of second chances, here’s hoping for the real thing in 2021.

“Me after seeing Kylie and Kendall’s shoulders on the yacht in Mallorca,” said fitness influencer @ProteckPhilippe , or PP, in a TikTok clip of her grueling upper arm workout.

The brunette centered her sweat session around attaining the slenderized look of the A-list sisters, Kylie, 26, and Kendall, 28, who cut toned physiques while vacationing on a luxe cruiser off the coast of Spain in June.

“Yacht shoulders,” PP captioned the post, which muscled up over 7.6 million views from digital audiences — many of whom had a bone to pick with her for starting yet another Kardashian-spawned trend.

A newcomer to the body-modification movement, “yacht shoulders” are slim, chiseled shoulders accompanied by a slight neck and chicly prominent collar bone.

However, unlike the viral “TrapTox” craze, which sees beauty belles injecting Botox into their trapezius muscles for leaner looks, women of the yacht shoulders swing are flocking to the gym for the enviable exterior.

“Those yacht shoulders are pending!” vowed UK exercise content creator Natalie Rose while executing a weight-training workout.

Health tastemaker Nathalie Jennings echoed Rose’s sentiments in a separate snippet of her own shoulder-sculpting routine on a machine.

Natalia, a lifestyle influencer, also took to TikTok, boasting , “So happy to announce that I do, in fact, have yacht shoulders,” she wrote in the closed captions of her post. “So blessed.”

But, unfortunately, not everyone sees the ultra-trim trend as a blessing.

“Arm and shoulder beauty standards is insane,” barked a detractor beneath PP’s viral video.

“Ummmm they also get Ozempic, tons of work and maintenance done,“ alleged another about the Kardashians.

“Love yourself,” a concerned commenter urged.

And a little self-love, coupled with a little less social media, might be just what the doctor ordered for some easily influenced young women.

In fact, a February 2023 study from the from the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute found that cutting a teen’s scrolling time in half can “significantly” improve their body imagine in weeks.

Alyssa McKay, 23, from Manhattan, previously told The Post that she immediately regretted undergoing a $7,000 breast augmentation in an attempt to mimic Kylie’s bountiful bust.

“When I got my boobs done, the beauty trend was all about having the Kardashian look — big boobs and a big butt,” she said of the voluptuous family.

“I wish I would have waited and thought about whether surgery was something I really wanted to do,” McKay continued.

“I just want to be happy with who I am and my body as it is.”

Harry Kendall Thaw, one of the wealthiest men in America, had a problem: if a jury found him guilty of murder, he would die in the electric chair at Sing Sing. It seemed like an open and shut case. Six months before his trial and in the presence of hundreds of people, Thaw shot the renowned architect Stanford White twice in the face and once in the shoulder with his 22-caliber gun in the presence of hundreds of people. White was watching the musical comedy Mamzelle Champagne on the rooftop of Madison Square Garden, a building he designed. At the heart of this tragedy is a girl, Evelyn Nesbit, and her chastity.

Presiding at Thaw’s trial was New York Justice Thomas W. Fitzgerald, who five months before was held in contempt for failure to respond to his debtors in court. The lead prosecutor was William Travers Jerome, a foe of Tammany Hall and a remote cousin of Winston Churchill. Harry Thaw’s dream team was led by Delphin Delmas, known as the “Napoleon of the California Bar” along with attorneys John Gleason, Clifford Hartridge, Daniel O’Reilly, Henry McPike, and A. Russell Peabody.

Delmas posited a diagnosis of “ dementia Americana ” defined as a “species of insanity which makes every home sacred. . . and whoever stains the virtue [of a man’s wife] has forfeited the protection of human law.”

The jury deadlocked.

Judge Fitzgerald was removed from the bench and the attorneys eventually suffered misfortunes, including disbarment, incarceration and death.

Next up was attorney Martin Littleton, a rail splitter from Texas. He advanced a more traditional defense, not guilty by reason of insanity. The jury unanimously agreed with the defense.

Justice Victor Dowling committed the defendant to Matteawan State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. Before the ink dried on the judge’s order, Thaw’s attorney filed a writ of habeas corpus requesting a hearing to determine Thaw’s current sanity.

For the next eight years Thaw’s legal exploits would continue in three different states, two countries, and include Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Tom Waddington is on a quest to row across the Atlantic Ocean all by himself — but on Sunday, he found plenty of company at sea, when a pod of pilot whales thronged around him. They followed him for hours, growing from a few playful animals to hundreds of large creatures. At least one smacked into his small boat.

The whales popped their heads above the surface and seemed to play together — a gam of whales , gadding about — as Waddington, who is rowing some 2,000 nautical miles from the Newfoundland coast to Penzance, in the United Kingdom, watched in amazement.

“This is so cool,” Waddington said as he took a video of the whales’ antics. With a laugh, he added, “I love it, but I'm scared they're gonna hit my rudder.”

Waddington emerged unscathed — but a little shaken by the risks mammals weighing thousands of pounds can pose to his boat and equipment on an unsupported solo trip.

“They were just playing and going under the boat and I was taking videos,” he said on Facebook and Instagram, describing hundreds of whales around him. Then one of the whales slammed into the side of his light boat.

“And I was like, Oh my God. And suddenly it turned from David Attenborough into Moby Dick. And I was really scared.”

Waddington’s team on land believes the playful mammals are long-finned pilot whales, which the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says are known to live in the North Atlantic and “are very social, living in large schools of hundreds of animals separated into close-knit pods of 10 to 20 individuals.”

The whales appeared at a moment when Waddington was feeling a bit low, he said, after a morning full of rain.

“What a special treat,” he said on the video. “I've seen loads of whales, but they've just come to say hello.”

When it came time to take leave of his visitors, Waddington says he wasn’t sure how to do that. He tried shouting a bit, and splashed his oars. He veered north — but the whales followed, and for more than two hours, it seemed more whales kept showing up.

Waddington, who works as a ski instructor, is rowing across the ocean for a fundraiser benefiting Mind , the British mental health charity led by the actor Stephen Fry. Waddington estimates that more than 1,000 whales swam with him. For advice, he called his coach, Charlie Pitcher (who has himself rowed across the Atlantic).

“He was like, the best thing to do is, be quiet and still — which is exactly the opposite of what I did" earlier, he said.

Eventually, the whales left the boat and its sole occupant with a rare story about crossing the Grand Banks , the large fishery at the edge of the North American continental shelf.

“It was absolutely incredible,” Waddington said.

The encounter didn’t harm the boat, or its progress across open water.

Between favorable winds and waves, and what Waddington called “whale-fueled adrenaline,” his boat is making good progress, he added. You can track its voyage online .

After months of lavish prewedding festivities that have captured the attention of onlookers worldwide, Anant Ambani, the youngest son of India’s richest man, married Radhika Merchant in Mumbai.

On Friday afternoon, Sneh Zala, 24, waited for celebrities to arrive on the red carpet for the wedding ceremony of Anant Ambani, the youngest son of India’s richest man, and Radhika Merchant, a daughter of a fellow business tycoon.

The red carpet was set up in a room adorned with lanterns and red and orange garlands and floral arrangements. Mr. Zala, a photographer working for Manav Manglani , one of Bollywood’s top paparazzi, had already shot several of the couple’s prewedding functions, which began in March .

It’s not every day that Kim and Khloé Kardashian, John Cena and Boris Johnson gather in Mumbai for an Indian wedding. All four were in attendance on Friday at the Jio World Centre in traditional Indian garb.

Mr. Zala was one of about 100 media members clamoring next to the red carpet, not a common addition at most weddings. But given the sheer number of celebrities present — Bollywood superstars, several members of the Indian cricket team, former prime ministers and billionaire businessmen — and the fabulous Indian clothes on display, a runway seemed in order.

When Mr. Cena came out wearing a baby-blue sherwani, one photographer shouted, “Welcome to India.”

As Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, a Thai businesswoman, and her husband, Somsak, posed for photographers, a young stylist interrupted to adjust Ms. Leeswadtrakul’s scarf. The stylist, who seemed to have been hired just to help guests be camera-ready, stood at the side of the room for the duration of the eight-hour red carpet arrivals.

It was then that the Ambani family made its way onto the red carpet: the groom, Anant Ambani; his mother, Nita Ambani; his father, Mukesh Ambani; and his brother and sister and their spouses and children.

“Anant, bhai, congratulations,” people shouted. The bride, Ms. Merchant, who wore an ivory Zardozi cutwork lehenga by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla for the ceremony, did not pose on the red carpet.

Inside the wedding, the reggaeton singer Luis Fonsi performed his hit song “ Despacito .” The Afrobeats star Rema and the Bhangra singer Sukhbir also performed. The Indian actor Ranveer Singh danced energetically to a song whose music video he himself starred in, “ Tattad Tattad ,” in the event hall, which was showered with confetti. The Bollywood actress Ananya Panday and the Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya grooved to “ Zoobi Doobi ,” and the Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan danced together as well.

The wedding ceremony involved traditions like the jaimala, when the couple put flower garlands around each other’s necks, and the phera, during which they walked around a ritual fire. According to Reliance Industries, the megacompany owned by the Ambani family, about 2,000 guests were in attendance.

Friday’s ceremony was followed by a reception on Saturday, and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair was seen shaking hands with the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino.

For the Saturday reception, Ms. Merchant wore a pink lehenga crafted by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla in collaboration with the Indian artist Jayasri Burman, who hand-painted the cloth with animals, including elephants, and depictions of the couple.

On Sunday, the mangal utsav was held, a reception that was the largest event of the wedding weekend. Ms. Merchant wore a gold corset from Dolce & Gabbana paired with a satin sari by Anamika Khanna . A. R. Rahman , and Shreya Ghoshal, two of India’s most prolific singers, performed classic Indian songs including “ Tere Bina ” and “ Barso Re .”

On Monday night, there was a final reception for employees of Reliance Industries.

Many onlookers had opinions about the nuptials: It’s fun and exciting; it’s too long; it’s bringing international attention to Indian festivities; it exposes significant wealth disparities in the country .

“They’ve taken the big fat Indian wedding term very seriously, and they’re sort of showing you the most grand scale,” said Anjan Sachar, a journalist from Mumbai, in a cafe in Bandra, the same neighborhood where the wedding festivities took place. “Weddings are always a big deal in India. No matter what caste, what state, doesn’t matter. And with the Ambanis, they’re one of the richest families in the world. It’s also their last child’s wedding.”

But some guests, who did not want to be identified discussing the Ambani family’s personal affairs, said that the wedding was overcrowded and hectic, and that they felt a level of fatigue regarding the never-ending festivities.

Since March, the lead-up to the celebration has been a carefully orchestrated spectacle, capturing the attention of an international audience.

On the morning of the ceremony, decorations covered the surrounding streets of the Jio World Centre, an 18.5-acre business and cultural center owned by the Ambanis. Hundreds of people working for the wedding stood outside waiting to receive badges that would grant them access on-site: photographers, musicians, cooks, event staff, carpenters, dancers and makeup artists. Several roads were closed off in the busy area, leading many residents to complain about the traffic.

While the Ambanis’ enormous wealth and clout are well known in India, many people outside the country might not have even heard of them before Rihanna performed at the couple’s three-day prewedding bash in Jamnagar, a town in the western Indian state of Gujarat. Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates were also in attendance.

In June, the festivities continued on a cruise ship in Europe with performances by Katy Perry, the Backstreet Boys and Pitbull. And on July 5, the extravaganza kicked off in Mumbai, with a performance by Justin Bieber at the sangeet, traditionally a night of music and dancing leading up to the nuptials. (Himanshu Patel, who photographed the couple’s wedding and pre-wedding events with a team of 10 under his company Epic Stories , said he spent over 20 days shooting the monthslong festivities.)

The Ambani family is playing a role in showcasing Indian culture and fashion to the world, Ms. Sachar said, as part of a larger cultural shift in which Indian designers like Rahul Mishra and Gaurav Gupta and Rahul Mishra are capturing wide international attention, and Dior staged a runway show in Mumbai in March 2023.

Ms. Khanna , who designed several of the outfits for the wedding festivities, is a fixture in Indian fashion, but working on this wedding, she said, stood out for its “epic” level of visibility and attention. She said Ms. Merchant’s wedding weekend finale look was a “blend of Indian culture in modernity with something completely international.”

The majority of the looks for the wedding weekend came from India’s top designers, though Mr. Ambani and Ms. Merchant worked with houses like Versace and Robert Wun for the pre-wedding looks.

Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla of Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla began designing the outfits over 18 months ago, and they worked to sustain traditional Indian craft and techniques through the looks. “This wedding couture had to pay homage to craft, textiles, family, nature, love and tradition,” Mr. Jani said.

Earlier in the week, at Bandra Town Market, a popular street shopping destination, Akansha Bhandari was browsing through earrings at a jewelry stall. “Most of my friends think it’s a little too much, but I think it’s perfect,” said Ms. Bhandari, a 21-year-old social media manager. “It’s what’s making them talk about it. They’re still obsessed with it.”

“It’s as good as a modern-day royal wedding,” Ms. Sachar said. “People want to consume the content.”

The singer filled in for  James Corden as a guest host on Tuesday's episode, during which he and the  Keeping Up With the Kardashians  star played Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts . During the segment, Kendall agreed to rank her siblings according to their parenting skills, while Harry opted to consume cod sperm  rather than answer her question of which songs on his last album are about her.

Kendall, 24, and Harry, 25, go way back and have occasionally sparked dating rumors on and off since 2013. Over the New Year's holiday in 2016, the two got cozy on a luxury yacht while vacationing together  in St. Barts. The two were also joined by Ellen DeGeneres  and wife  Portia De Rossi .

"Why are they a good match? Well, they're both super hot, super great, sweet people," Kendall's sister Khloe Kardashian later told E! News . "And if I'm on a yacht in St. Barts if I'm—how old is she, 20? He's 20?—hey, I ain't mad at you, Kenny. Do your thing, girl!"
