The Diego Garcia Yacht Club (DGYC) was established in May 1979 by a group of yachting enthusiasts for the mutual benefit of all island residents and transient personnel who were interested in any aspect of the sport.
Diego Garcia is a US naval base at the bottom of the chain which is totally off limits to sailors. The US leases the facilities from the British who kicked the original inhabitants out, ostensibly telling them, "We're all going on a shopping trip to the Seychelles ."

Not enough can be said for the TCNs who keep DG up and running. Fortunately, the DGYC has folks who really love their work, and the Club. They've turned it into one of (if not the) best places for R&R on the island. Here are some of these men:
