| for a few days on a different island then good luck. I never read it anywhere, but it is my understanding that there is a no zone circling the island of 150nm, I believe it's just tho. Other than that, the island is very pretty. Lots of turtles and sharks and trails all over the place.

| Archipelago. If you check the BIOT or Noonsite webpages it is all explained. You need to get a permit before hand and can only stay for one month for 100 pounds sterling. | | | | | 24-01-2013, 07:55 | | | | Commandos will set out to patrol the islands looking for cruisers who have anchored in the atoll. If they find you, they tell you to pull up and leave immediatly. They do not send you to jail or fine you.
Thus, if you can set anchor for a few days before they find you, all is well. Good luck.
And as one of those who lived in the "Garden of Eden" it was not all that fun. I lived in a tent the size of my with 10 other . I had rats crawling on me at night and bombers screaming in and out at all times of the day and night. I do not see myself looking to visit there any time in the near future.

The Diego Garcia Yacht Club (DGYC) was established in May 1979 by a group of yachting enthusiasts for the mutual benefit of all island residents and transient personnel who were interested in any aspect of the sport.
Diego Garcia is a US naval base at the bottom of the chain which is totally off limits to sailors. The US leases the facilities from the British who kicked the original inhabitants out, ostensibly telling them, "We're all going on a shopping trip to the Seychelles ."

Not enough can be said for the TCNs who keep DG up and running. Fortunately, the DGYC has folks who really love their work, and the Club. They've turned it into one of (if not the) best places for R&R on the island. Here are some of these men:
